Chapter Six: What The F*ck?
Alex's POV“I know, mom. She and I will be seeing the wedding planner soon.” I said into the phone as I typed away on the laptop. She won't stop persuading me to go with Daphne to meet the wedding planner. Not like I was interested in the wedding anyways. A knock on the door made me pause and a sigh escaped from my nostrils. Can't a young man get his time alone?“Come in.” I said. “Mom, I will call you back later.”I disconnected the call. A pair of red heels stepped into the office and I traced my gaze up only to see Daphne's grinning face. I was almost tempted to smile back but I scowled slightly.“Alex.” She beamed as she walked towards my desk.I acknowledged her with a nod. “Are you ready? We will be meeting with the wedding planner.” She drawled and I shut down my laptop as I faced her.“Yes, I am.” I intoned with no emotion as I stood up. She instantly intertwined her hands around my arms. I shook my head and we exited the office. I could hear giggles coming from the workers around. I sent them glares and they all scurried to continue what they were doing.I can't blame them. After my parents came back to take me back home, I was matched with Daphne to marry. I could not resist it since I just recently lost someone I once loved. She…I shook the thoughts of her off. Not now. I can't remember her. Not when I have decided to move on.“Do you think the lady will be able to do as we want?” Daphne's attempt to start a conversation suddenly had my head turning. I just shook my head as we got into the car.“Where to, Sir?” The driver asked. I faced Daphne to give an answer. She showed him her phone and he ignited the car’s engine.“Anyway, I went through her profile on I*******m and I saw that it was really nice.” She said again, going through her phone this time.I turned to her. “Daphne, aren’t we going to see this lady of yours? Why don’t you let us meet her to instead of showing me? I am quite tired right now.” I said and she gulped softly before nodding her head. I let out a deep breath and rested my head.We soon got to the restaurant and Daphne were really excited to meet this wedding planner. Of course, she would be.She stepped out of the car first, my phone beeped with a new message and I paused to answer it. I could a little noise made from Daphne but I did not look up. I understand that we were here to meet our wedding planner but still… I needed to work. After I was done, I glanced around and caught sight of Daphne’s dress inside. Pacing up, the doorman pushed the door open for me and I headed towards her, my eyes focused on my phone. As I lifted my eyes to see who Daphne was speaking to, everything stopped. A sharp pain shot through my bones to my heart and it took some time my brain to register it before my heart did. At that moment I was no longer sure if I could breathe or even blink. Her eyes met mine also and shock flashed through them too, mirroring my expression. She has grown so much. My heart swelled in pride. No, it should not. I had hurt her and I should not be proud of it.“Hmm, Elisabeth. Meet my fiancé. Alex, this is the wedding planner I would not stop talking about.” Daphne introduced, totally unaware of what was happening. I blinked twice before turning to Daphne, then darting my gaze back to her.So she had finally fulfilled her dream without me.She tried to offer a smile but she was obviously still in shock. So I said, “Oh, I see. That is good.”We all took our seats and Daphne would not stop smiling.“So,” She gulped lightly. “I would love to know the budget for your wedding.” She said, her eyes forcing some kind of enthusiastic glint.Daphne smiled again. “Hmm… I think we decided on a budget of $10,000. It is just between the two families and some close friends and associates. I do not know what Alex wants but-”“I am okay with that.” I cut in. I really did not care about how much we were spending or what we were using it for. For as long as it was for my wedding, I’m good.Daphne sent me a smile and turned back to Elisabeth. She cleared her throat. “I see. I have worked with some wealthy people and I could say that I am very confident that I would give you the best. I have also arranged and made some research with my close friends on venues I know you would like.”She began to scroll through her tab and showed Daphne who also checked them out.I could see she was avoiding my gaze and I was also avoiding hers too. It has been like two or three years since I saw Elisabeth Callaway.“Also, I would love to know which theme color you would like to use.”“Alex’s favorite color is purple and mine is lilac.”Daphne said, making me want to hit her on her head.My favorite color was not purple. I could see Eli’s brows twitched. She still remembered. She blinked. “Oh.” The words came out followed by a small laugh. “I see. It is really nice that you know each other’s favorite colors.”I did not know if she was insulting Daphne or if she was just saying but I said nothing throughout the moment she discussed the budget with her. Daphne would try to get me to speak but all I did was give subtle nods and got myself busy with unnecessary answering of the mails which I knew my secretary would find weird.I just needed to do this to get away from my past’s demons. Seeing her from afar could have been better but meeting and sitting so close to her and yet I could not reach out to her was more excruciating.“Okay. I think that is all.” Daphne finally concluded after so many feigned giggles and trying to make us look like the perfect couple that we are not.“If I may ask, when are you getting married?” Elisabeth asked, her eyes darting between us.“In a month’s time.” Came my reply and she gave us a stiff nod.“I will keep you updated.” She said and we all rose to our feet. She extended her hands out for a shake and Daphne took it. I could see the hesitation as she turned to me. I took it, jolts of currents slicing through my veins. My warm hands seemed to have breathed life into her cold ones because I felt the sudden twinge of her muscle. She removed her hand and schooled her face to be professional.“We will talk.” Daphne smiled and she returned with one of her own.Daphne and I exited the place, with my eyes glancing back at Elisabeth who also had her eyes on me.This was not the end. There was never an end for us. It was always a beginning. Our story. As we got into the car, Daphne went strangely quiet that I could have asked why she was suddenly quiet but I did not.“Oh, yes. By the way, what is your favorite color?” She asked.Without looking at her and my focus fixed on my phone, I replied. “I do not have.”She muttered something like she should have known under her breath and I could not help but bite back a snort. That night, after dropping Daphne at her parents’ mansion and refusing to meet them, I asked the driver to straight to my place. I wanted some peace and quietude. With an unfathomable hurry, I hopped off the car and rushed in. It was not like it was raining or anything.I pulled off my suit and dumped it on the couch before slumping down. I pinched the bridge of my nose as Elisabeth’s face kept replaying in my head. Her voice, her subtle yet not relaxed smiles. The way her color hands felt perfect in mine. The way I suddenly felt alive. I needed to wash them all but I did not want to.All these years, I have dipped my head into work so much that I did not dare think about her. I ambled to my room and went straight to the shower. Staring at my naked self, I could still see the shadow of that boy from years ago and all I wanted to do was scrub that vision off and return back to my cold and icy self. No warm hands. No sparks.I went to bed that night, hearing Elisabeth’s soft moans and erotic whimpers replaying in my head over and over again. The way her hands gripped my shoulders as I drove into her, the way her eyes rolled to the back of her head as I hit that spot, and her soft whimper sounded so near to my ears that I could have sworn that it was real. All of these played in my head till my hands found their way down my briefs, gripping my stiff shaft.Chapter Seven: I will never be YoursElisabeth’s POVI saw him. I shook his hands. I felt the currents. I felt the fear all over again. Everything in the past came rushing over again. He looked different. He looked more mature than the guy I had left – ran away from. Yet he pretended not to have known me. He pretended like he was not speaking to the girl he had broken. And I played my part too by pretending not to know him. But I could not stop myself from being affected by his presence. His presence dominated more authority than it did years back but still, I cowered in submission. Still, I remembered the guy I had fallen in love with and had promised me a future we had both dreamed of and never realized. And here he was building it with another woman. I should not be heartbroken. Heck, I should not even be affected but meeting him brought back memories I have buried deep in me and I hated my every bit of showing any reaction to him. The way his warm hands fitted right into my cold
Chapter Eight: A Wedding BrideElisabeth’s POVMy heart hammered against my chest as I stood and watched how people trooped in with smiles gracing their faces. It was finally the day of Alex’s wedding. One month of excruciating waiting to see my Ex get married. I did not know how I fared so well but I did. From going to and fro on the discussion of the budget and the planning, the rare meeting with him, and the way he hardly added anything to our discussion, I did not know what to think. Were they in love or not? That I could not answer, but here we are standing and greeting everyone as they entered. “Elisabeth,” Claude’s voice called behind me. Claude was one of my workers and they had flown all the way here to help me.I turned around and her eyes narrowed slightly before she spoke up, “You don’t seem happy.”That had me inclining my head to the side. What did she mean by that?“I-”“I know.” She cut in. “I just wanted to tell you that everything is ready. The MC will be
Elisabeth's POVI used to think the veil was used to add more suspense to the wedding air. I thought it was used to keep the bridegroom on his toes as he awaits his bride but I could finally see the reason. The veil was used to hide whatever pain lay beneath. Whatever shadow was hovering over the face of the bride. As I approached the door with Claude following behind me, dread filled my chest.I wish I had the power to turn back time and I would not have even bothered to take the contract. The door was pushed open and everyone turned their heads towards me. My heart jumped to my throat and I had to gulp hard. I was a wedding planner and I have always stayed behind the scenes to make sure things went well but I have never been the main POV where everyone will look at me with some kind of expectancy. I never imagined myself to be in that POV anytime soon at all but now… Alex stood at the altar with the priest and watched me.His eyes were etched on me the whole time I used to walk down

But I am yet to finish up what I want to do.” I said, using my shoulders to hold my phone in place as I cut through the pink ribbon. I was going to be getting a contract of a particular wedding event and yet my mother won't let me rest. “I know you will, but you have been deliberately ignoring your brother's call.” She said and I paused for a second at what she said. My brother. He… Standing upright with my teeth grinding against each other, I swallowed down the lump of so many swear words, “Mother, Jace and I have nothing to talk about. Moreover, he is living his life and I am also doing the same. He was against my job and I am against his calls, you see. We are even.” I said, going back to the cutting the ribbon. I could hear her sigh and I knew she must be exhausted from trying to get me to talk to my elder brother but
Chapter Two: Dad's Dying.Eli's POV“So how is the preparation?” Ashley asked.“It is done already. We will be meeting the bridegroom today to finalize things.” I replied as I wore my wristwatch.“Really? What was the theme you used?” she asked. I picked out my phone and stretched it out to her.“Wow, brown and purple?” She said and I nodded my head..“Weirdly, the bride wanted me to use brown and the bride groom purple. When I asked them if it was one of them favorite color, they both said no and said they just wanted something. I did not bother to ask them and went on with it. After we were yesterday, I sent them pictures of the venue and I could hear excitement from the bride even though the bride groom was merely interested when we spoke.” I explained.Ash looked at me in the mirror. “Could it be arranged marriage?”“Arranged marriage where the bride is ecstatic as that? The romance novels I read did not say that. They always say…”“That they hate the male lead and later
Chapter Three: It Was A Trap After All Eli's POV My lips hung open as I tried to understand what was sent. I spoke to mother the other day and she said nothing of dad's sudden illness. Why was this happening now? I turned to look at Ashley. “Maybe it is high time you went home.” She said and I tried not cry at the sudden breakdown I was having. “I… I… I don’t know at all. I have a lot of things to do here. I can…” “Eli! You can't what? You can't leave when your own father is dying. C'mon, you have to go.” She said and I stared at the window for a while before looking away. Picking my phone, I dialed my mother’s number and she was not picking. It must be really urgent. “okay, I will take the first flight going to Great Dane tomorrow. But after I am done, I will come back. This is too sudden.” I rambled. Ashley sighed and placed her hand on my shoulders. “No one is more important than the people that birth you.” She said with a soft expression and I swallowed the huge lump in my
Chapter Four: No Place To Go.Eli's POVI turned to look at him. “why did you lie?” I asked him with my nose flared and he gave a crooked smile.“Tell me why I should not lie?” he asked, feigning ignorance and taking a seat. I felt like punching his jaw. He smirked as he flipped the top of can open before he downed the content and wiped his lips with the back of his hands.“Don't look at me like that! You are just an unfilial daughter. Our parents have just two of us and you left, leaving them to cater for themselves. What do you think? Mother would always cry for her daughter to come back home to her and you being that daughter, will say you are chasing the dreams they refused to support or you are running away from..”“Stop!!!” I cut him immediately and walked towards him.My eyes reddened in anger and teeth teetering in rage as I glared at him. “I did not run away.
