Kyrah's POV
Time flew like a rocket ship ever since Blake and I had our little bonding in my new car. Things changed, and so have I. It's been two months of pure bliss with Blake and I can't explain how high I have been on love. He makes me want to dance around whispering his name. When he calls, I run to him. When he speaks, I become weak and when he touches me, I run wild. That's what he does to me.
As I sit here in my hostel, busy doing my hair, the door opens and Maeve walks in, arms across her chest. I can see from the large mirror in front of me that she is wearing a sad expression on her face. I turn to face her and she pushes her glasses up her nose. A habit I have come to understand means that she's either angry, sad or disappointed.
"What?" I ask her.
"Where have you been, Kyrah? And where are you going now?" she sounds concerned. For real.
"None of your business, Maeve," I say, turning on my seat to face the mirror.
*Scott's POV*It's been two months now and my dad hasn't come back home since he was assigned a really major duty in Afghanistan. This is how hard it is to be the child of a military father. He hardly comes home, and when he does, he stays for a while and any minute I always know he'd get a call of duty and that he'd leave again. I had really waited for him to come home the last time he called, but plans changed. He couldn't come.Another thing that's bothering the hell out of me is the fact that Kyrah, no longer wants anything to do with me, or anyone else. All her time is spent with Blake. It's like we're all invisible to her. I never liked Blake since the very first day I saw and I never will. He's made Kyrah a totally different person. She's now forgotten about all her friends and any time he calls her, she runs to him like he's her savior. I hate that. I really hate that! That thought makes me squeeze my fists in anger. It's Friday afternoon and I am
*Roxy's POV*When I pick the call, I place the phone on my ear and the smile on my face fades slowly as I speak to the person on the other end."Is this Roxy Trent?" the woman questions."Yes. How may I help you?" I ask."I am calling in from the State Women's Prison–" before she finishes her words I cut her off."My mother, how is she?" I utter. The last time I visited her, I was with Vic and she was glad to see him. That was two weeks ago. We had some family time together even though for a very short time. But I loved it."Calm down, we need you to come over immediately and see her–""What happened? What the fuck happened?!" I slam my fist on the coffee table, making Vic to jump on his feet. He is now staring at me with worry. He knows that whoever is on the other line has bad news. Scott is up on his feet and the two of them move closer to me."Ma'am, just calm down and get ove
Kyrah's POVBlake and I arrive at an elegant restaurant and we are welcomed warmly at the entrance. After we confirm our table, the receptionist shows us where it is and we thank her. I am in wedges and a knee-length pink floral dress with a brown clutch bag. I may be wearing a dress which has a bubbly color, but deep down I feel like crap today. I fake a smile when the waiter arrives at our table with the menu."Hello, this is our menu. I'll be back for your order in a few," he says in a deep French accent."Bring us two glasses of wine, please. When you get back," Blake says and the waiter nods firmly, turning on his heel to leave.I start playing around with my nails absently until Blake brings me back from la-la land by touching my hands across the table."Has anyone wronged you? If it's me, just let me know. You look troubled, Kyrah," Blake says as he eyes me keenly."No, babe. It's not you, I am a little off moo
Roxy's POVI managed to call Mrs Bailey and she told me she's on her way. That made me a little hopeful because she's the only person I have left, now that aunt Olivia decided to abandon us.At the gate of the prison, all of us open the doors of the car before it stops and step out once it comes to a hault. Scott leaves last and at the gate, the lazy female guard who's usually there checking people's identification, doesn't even bother lifting her head up. A cigarette is in her mouth and she's busy playing a game on her phone. The moment Scott's dad clears his throat she looks up and the look on her face is bewildering. The cigarette drops and she salutes him instantly. Her body going from a crouched posture to a straight one.She stumbles on her feet and yells at the guard who has the keys to the gate to open up. The rest of the guards salute the General in unison, but he ignores them completely. In a second, we storm in headed to the s
Kyrah's POVThe moment Blake and I arrive at the prison, I spot Roxy and next to her is Vic, Scott, my mom and a person I assume is Scott's dad. I run as fast as I can to her, trying to focus on my steps, careful not to fall because of my wedges.I call out her name a couple of times but all she's doing is blankly looking at me. From the looks of things, all her energy has been depleted."Roxy, I am so sorry I–" I begin but her reaction makes me stop talking. She stands up from her seat and begins to walk away as if I wasn't even talking to her. Like a zombie, she's walking away, without a word. She doesn't even dare to look back and heads for the large double door, giving Blake a look of disgust.I turn to face my mom and she's busy scowling at Blake, I turn to Scott and he has his eyes focused on Blake too. Vic is wiping his tears with the hem of his shirt and then Scott's dad's face looks more familiar now. I've seen him on TV
Three days later, I'm still in my room. I didn't attend classes. Maeve has been awfully quiet and I know it's because of me. She only comes in late and leave early in the morning, she doesn't even bother looking at me.I sigh and sit up right on my bed, facing her."If you're not going to talk to me, well, fine... But I won't just sit here pretending that everything is okay, when it's not. Look, Maeve, I'm sorry for cutting you guys off like that. That was stupid. I mean, I didn't even realize what I was doing until Roxy blew everything right in front of my face. I messed up big time and I just want to say I'm sorry. From the bottom of my heart, I really am. Just say something, please... "She sits up right on her bed and faces me, right after she puts her phone on the bed."I'm glad you realized what you did wasn't a good thing. Honestly, you didn't hurt me that much. You should actually be apologizing to Roxy, she's the one you hurt th
My vision is becoming blurry by the minute and every single building seems to be moving too close to me. I can barely breathe and sweat trickles down my forehead. My throat is as dry as a desert. My chest feels tight. This is not the place to faint. One of the men, the head of the group, or so I assume, moves closer to me. His eyes are bloody red and one eye is twitching on and off like a light bulb. Blake is on the other side struggling to get to me and his anger can clearly be detected."Don't touch her!" He yells and the man turns to him and laughs, a very terrifying laugh. Then he turns back to me."It's either you're the cops or the cops sent you or–"I cut him off."I'm looking for someone.""Wonderful! Well you can't go through without the code," he bellows and stares down at me keenly.Damn it! I can't seem to focus on my thoughts and breathing at the same time."She's struggling to
They put on quite a show there. My thoughts are interrupted when one pats my shoulder."Sorry we scared you. Come by and we'll have some tea with my family."Wait what?"Uhm, okay. We'll go now," I utter in confusion as I rush to my car.As Roxy gets into the car, she waves at them and I start the engine and drive off."Care to explain everything? Like, now!" I demand.Roxy stares at me, "Well I guess we both have alot of explanation to do. I see your boyfriend got you a fancy car. Hot damn!" she touches the leather seats, amazed."Well, yes. We'll be riding together. Promise. Now tell me, who is this... Scar? How did you even get to know these people?" I pause as we hit the high way, "Did Vic know you were here all along?""First of all, I've never met Scar, but he's the leader. They tell me he knows me but I don't know how. Secondly, when I was a kid, one day I got lost in an al
