9. Their first day

In the middle of the night, a suppressed sobbing sound was resonating in the silent room.  Although someone was trying hard to suppress their sobs yet the absence of noise in the room made it easier to discover.

This woke Layla. She sat drowsily and reached out for her phone to switch on the flashlight. She roamed the light source in her hand and saw that a blanket mount was trembling on the bed. She turned on the lights in the room at the very instant.

When lights flashed on Lani’s face, she pulled her blanket to block every ray disturbing her sleep but soon Layla’s worried voice calling Opal entered her ears. She snapped out from her dreams. "Umm…" Squinting her eyes, she analyzed the situation first then picked her mobile only to see it's 3:30 in the morning. There were still some hours left before they would start their day.
