Chapter 4: Make Them Believe

last update Last Updated: 2021-08-03 10:22:12

The sun shines outside like it says good morning to any people sleeping in their beds. The cold breeze from the outside made them shivers and stand up unwillingly to work like doing a daily routine for them. After sleep, you woke up, prepare to work, going to work, leave for work and go back to your bed. But as they said, you should live your life to the fullest. Do your work for daily expenses but don't forget to live your life like you wanted it to be.

I slept and dreamt that life was joy.

I awoke and saw that life was service.

I acted and behold, service was joy.

                                         Rabindranath Tagore

Miana woke up when her phone rings, seeing messages from Chelsea, her colleague. So many messages for a good morning greeting for her.

“Ugh, so early to message me for I don’t know how many messages there is”

She opens her eye for a minute and saw the 15 messages from her colleague. She opens the last message and read it, shockingly, she got up on the bed and read the other messages. Miana looks panicky about what she read.

Chelsea’s messages:

“Miana, are you up?”

“Girl, you won’t believe what I will tell you. So many things to talk to and our colleagues talking shit about you. This is not a good morning greeting, okay?  I know but I can’t just stay here and do nothing”

“Miana!!!”

“Omg! They thought that’s how it is eh.”

“I wonder when will you wake up”

“Oh, I forgot you take your leave for two days?”

“People are judgmental, smh”

“Oh, shoot. I’ll be alone for two days?”

“The nearer your days for America, the pain is unbearable”

“I will wish you all the luck”

“Hey, people envied you because you are fine and you are so exceptional. I can’t bear to just sit here while I hear some bad things about you. You need to know all of it”

“You’re the only person I trust”

“Miana, wake up”

“Wakey, wakey”

“Now they got a theory that you’re a side chick of our Boss that’s why you’re the only person he chooses to come with him in America. I know that’s not true. I know you really work hard to gain that position and even do other jobs if they need some help. I don’t know why they are envious of your knowledge and even come up with an unrealistic story of being a side chick. It feels so off. You’re not here so I will tell you what they are like”

Believe in yourself. You are braver than you think,

                                          More talented than you know,

And capable of more than you imagine

                                                 Roy T. Bennett,

                                          The Light in the Heart

What are they doing now? They told me way back that I’m so pure and innocent. Here we are, saying lies from lies just because I’m the chosen one to work in The United States of America. Is it my fault if I’m the qualified one? Ironic e? They told me they love like a little sister. But now, when jealousy strikes, they will say whatever they want. And to think that I’m a side chick? Really? I work hard for this. I did whatever it takes to finish my studies and to be hired by this company. I’m not that cheap to be a side chick. I walk the path that I shouldn’t walk to in the first place. I took all the second steps to succeed. And they will suspect me as a side chick?! Really? We worked for almost two years. They didn’t even see my works and eagerness? That’s sad. Wait for me. I will show you what I got.

Present Time:

Miana went to work early after her two-day leave. She saw her colleagues looking at her. Basing on their reactions, they do not have any idea that she will work for the day. She already talks to the CEO about the tension in the office. She came up with a suggested solution so they won't think that way.

I believe I can do anything. I trust myself. I am confident that I am the chosen one. I am qualified. I already did everything to succeed in all the things that I have right now. No one can break me.

The meeting begins. The meeting starts with a prayer. All employees listen carefully because the CEO asks questions and suggestions after he discusses things in the office. The assembly lasts for one hour and 45 minutes. Until Miana stood up and they are all shocked.

“I’m Miana, the secretary of the company. Taking notes of the meeting details. This is what it goes…

Assembly No. 154

Place of the meeting: Conference Room

Date and Time: August 2, 2015 (Starts at 9 am and ends at 10:45 am)

Director Present: Noguchi, Victor Monsieur

Agenda:

  1. OLD BUSINESS: Approval of the new rules and mechanics of the production of the food
  2. NEW BUSINESS: Ways to provide delivery points to every part of the PH (a mountainous area)

Action Plan:

Action #1: Team 1 with the company’s Manager Choi

Action #2: Team 2 with the company’s HR

Conclusion:

The delivery points are limited for a moment. The company has a hard time giving its all to provide deliveries from all parts of the Philippines. We came up with the solution that we should have collaborated with the local government in regard to that problem.

“Anything else?”

“Your report is perfect as always”

“Thank you, Sir”

            This is just a start.
