Elaine
"Come on, Liz. Quit playing." I chuckled while nudging her on her side. "I shouldn’t have not trusted you with my secret. Besides, I’m only eighteen. I haven't even found my destined mate yet."
How could I attract someone like Tristan? He was out of my league, and the thought of me being married to him was absurd.
"You really don't remember anything, do you?" Liz uttered. I looked at her straight in the eyes before she slumped into the nearby chair next to my bed. Again, an awkward silence hovered. She took a deep breath, as if she was relieved about something.
"Well, maybe it’s for the best. I mean, what good would it do you to remember that bastard anyway?"She pulled a compact mirror from her purse and handed it to me. "There. Look at yourself and tell me what you see."
I looked the same, only a little older and stressed, with small lines formed on my forehead and bags under my eyes. It appeared I hadn't gotten a decent sleep, though I wasn't sure why not. I shifted my gaze to Liz. "What’s going on? I don’t understand what's happening."
"You’re not eighteen, Elaine. You’re twenty-three, and you’ve been married to Tristan for three years."
The mirror slipped from my hands, shattering on the hard cemented floor. Despite the room’s cold temperature, beads of sweat formed on my forehead. Five years had passed, and I had no recollection of any of it?
And I was married to Tristan Hale? The door pushed open, revealing a familiar man. It was Jared Cole, Tristan's best friend. When Liz acknowledged him as Beta, which meant he’d elevated in rank when Tristan became the Alpha. He carried a basket full of fruit, yet didn't look happy delivering it to be making the delivery.
Jared was a loyal friend to Tristan. Perhaps, he shared animosity towards me? I couldn’t imagine he’d be happy that Tristan had ended up married to a lowly maid. Even I was struggling to make peace with that.
"The council members send their regards," Jared said coldly,
referencing the basket as he placed it on a nearby table.I smiled faintly. "Please tell the council that the gesture is highly appreciated."
“Why are you the one who bought this, Beta Jared?” Liz asked. “Where’s the Alpha Tristan?”
Jared shot her a smirk. “He’s busy governing the pack. He can’t waste his time on trivial matters,” he said with a dismissive wave of his hand.
“But this is nothing but trivial, Beta Jared,” Liz rebutted. “The Luna almost died!” Liz said. “That’s anything but trivial. I’m sure the Alpha wouldn’t mind sparing her some of his time, considering they’re husband and wife.”
Jared's hidden irritation finally bubbled to the surface, and he spoke sarcastically. "Perhaps next time,” Jared sneered, “the Luna should consider her alpha husband before staging such an accident. If she seeks attention, she could do so by attending to her pack duties instead. I may be risking my tongue for saying this, but as the Beta and Alpha Tristan's best friend, I can't help but feel that the Luna's actions have brought shame upon our pack. Who in their right mind would drive and crash a faulty vehicle unless they desired an accident to gain attention?"
I clenched my wrist, trying to suppress the anger in me. I touched my outrage at such a ridiculous assertion. “You may leave now,” I said, opting for civility, despite wanting to burst into anger.
“You may now leave,” I said.
With that, Jared bowed his head and quickly exited the room. Liz was flabbergasted, wanting to confront the Beta, but I stopped Liz, knowing that her. She didn’t have the status to go against him, so she reluctantly took my advice and calmed herself while I tried to absorb everything I’d learned since waking. How would I weather the storm of events that would obviously ensue? If I had any hope of navigating my current life, I needed more information.
I turned to Liz and asked,
“Can you fill me in? What’s happened over these past years? I need to know everything, especially regarding my marriage to Alpha Tristan.”Liz heaved a sigh before starting to narrate everything that transpired.
ElaineI gave Liz my full attention as she told me the highlights of the events that shaped my present life. "After you got married, you kept trying to please Alpha Tristan, bending over backward to gain his affection. But he always disregarded you and your feelings. He didn’t care if you were hurting, didn’t care if you were sick. In fact, he continually slighted and ignored you in favor of his mistress, Megan. It’s sad, but your husband has never loved you, Bestie, and he hasn’t treated you well, either."Liz continued as time slipped by. My heart twisted with every word, each revelation a fresh wound. "After you got married you kept trying to please Alpha Tristan, bending over backward to gain his affection. But he...He didn’t care whether you were hurting or not. Whenever you were sick, instead of taking care of you, Tristan would go out to meet Megan. Your Alpha husband never loved you, Bestie. It’s sad, but that’s how your life was in the past five years."I could barely believ
ElaineMy gaze fell upon Tristan, and I couldn't help but be struck by him. He had matured into a chiseled man who exuded confidence and allure. Well, he was an Alpha now, so this was pretty much expected.I looked at him and studied his features. He was chiseled, and hisHis neatly styled dark hair framed his face and enhanced his rugged charm. With a defined jawline and commanding stature, he was far from the boy next door image I remembered him to be. Yet, despite that five years had passed, he still retained the same magnetic presence that had captivated me during our younger days. However, his undeniable handsomeness struck me. Yet, cold and piercing blue eyes sent a shiver down my spine and hinted at a depth of intensity I hadn't fully comprehended before. Despite that, I still felt an inexplicable pull towards him. Sudden panic filled me; my infatuation with him was still present deep within me.“Don’t just sit there! Help me get changed!” he commanded, jolting me out of my delu
ElaineTristan clenched his fists, his anger filling the room. “Fine then. Don’t you dare come begging for attention,” he said, his face flushed with emotion, his eyes narrowed in disdain. “Even if you threaten to harm yourself, I won’t yield. I'll never lay a hand on you again!” His words cut through the air like knives, sharp and filled with resentment. He ran a hand through his hair, muttering curses under his breath. Then he turned on his heel and headed for the door. With his hand on the doorknob and a dagger filled look aimed my way, he said, “Now, make your way downstairs and join me for dinner!” Then he stormed out of the room. I couldn’t help but sigh after the confrontation. His words struck me with the force of a blow, each one carrying the weight of his anger and authority. Though it had been a demand, a surge of defiance rose within me. But I knew better than to challenge him further. I also couldn't ignore the underlying acknowledgment of our relationship, our marriag
Elaine If I were to ask, I wanted nothing from Tristan and couldn’t care less if he hosted a party without me. But I was also the Luna of Wolfsilver Pack, and I wasn’t that selfish to neglect my duty just because my husband and I didn’t get along. The Alpha Conference in Lycos was such a big event that hosting it would mean a lot of possible opportunities for our pack. Maybe that was the reason why Tristan chose me to accompany him at the party instead of Megan? And so, with no choice, I attended without any choice. When I entered the party hall, the atmosphere immediately shifted. Everyone stared at me with their judgment in their eyes, and several laughed and mocked me. "Can you believe the Alpha brought the Luna here? It's so unusual.”"I heard the Luna tried to end her own life. How embarrassing.”“Poor, Alpha. Imagine having a Luna as insecure and shameless as her!” Their gossip hurt me deeply, like a sharp knife slicing through my emotions. Even though some pretended to be p
I took the air from the deepest part of her lungs, but it felt like inhaling water instead of air.I began to choke and spit some water from my nose and mouth. My chest hurt, and my throat felt like something rough was being scraped from the inside. The sound of my forced coughing was the only sound I heard from the surroundings.Slowly, I opened my eyes to the twinkling starry night sky above me. “Are you alright?” Hearing that voice, I looked to my left instinctively and saw a man kneeling, staring at me with a worried face. Seeing his wet suit and pants, it dawned on me that he had been the one to rescue me. Then, Tristan’s frantic cries shattered the moment. “Wake up, Megan! Speak to me! MEGAN!!!” I turned to see Tristan beside Megan, shaking the unconscious girl, trying to wake her up. After a moment, Megan gained consciousness and started coughing the water she ingested from the pool. Seeing this, Tristan looked relieved and held Megan's hand, kissing it as if it were the
Elaine“Did you just remind me that you slapped me and wanted a divorce?”I took a moment to realize what I had done. Tristan’s face changed as his words registered with me. But surprisingly, his eyes no longer bore any hint of anger. Instead, expression softened, and now he looked at me with furrowed brows. My heart pounded in my chest as I instinctively took a step back away from Tristan. In the heat of the moment, what I truly desired to say came out suddenly. But unfortunately, I forgot that the wolf I insulted in front of everybody was now the Alpa of Wolfsilver Pack. Oh, shoot! What have I done? “Elaine…” the stranger uttered. His voice was filled with worry but I paid no attention to him. Tristan’s reaction mattered to me more and now waiting for his next move.I had just said some hurtful words, and on top of that, I had bravely hit him. The murmurs from the pack members reached my ears as they started gathering around. “Did we hear it right? Did she hit Alpha Tristan?”“A
ElaineTristan leaned in close, as if about to kiss me. But as his lips drew near, a surge of fear and anger overtook me. I pushed him away forcefully, desperate to get out under him. Scrambling off the bed, my instinct said I needed distance from him, fast.Tristan stumbled back, his face reflecting surprise and hurt. But I didn’t care what he was feeling. What he did was beyond acceptable. "What are you doing?!" I yelled, my voice shaking with emotion. Hugging myself tightly, I tried to protect myself from whatever he might do next.Tristan raised his hands in a calming gesture, but I couldn't trust him. With a quick glance around the room, I dashed for the safety of the far corner. I could see the hurt in Tristan's eyes when I tried to run away from him and yet, I couldn’t care less. All I wanted was to escape this nightmare, away from him.“Relax, Elaine. I never—”“Relax? You want me to relax after you try to force yourself into me?” Seeing that i-don’t-know-what-i-did-wrong e
Elaine "What the hell is that bitch doing here?" My annoyance at Megan's presence in our home was undeniable with the way my face flushed. Just hearing her name stirred something inside me, igniting a surge of rage that reached the depths of my being. I clenched my fists so tightly they began to shake, consumed by an anger that I struggled to contain. Tristan appeared surprised as well, as if completely unaware of the unfolding situation. He froze in place, his gaze fixed on the maid who bowed her head after she spoke. Suddenly, we heard some steps echoing in the hallway and saw Megan emerge at the door with her trademark innocent facade. I found the sight utterly repulsive because I knew the real her. Megan was the source of every chaos in my life and she was far from being blameless and innocent. As Megan caught sight of us, she instinctively placed a hand over her chest. She looked like she was about to cry and offered an apologetic look that I found insincere and fake. “F
ElaineI sat on the edge of the bed in our room. Ever since Tristan left, guilt had been filling me to the brim. I knew I messed up. But it was Tristan I was talking about.“He deserved it for being a jerk,” I muttered to myself.Tristan didn’t understand the concept of respecting someone’s wishes. He was always pushy with everything, and never cared whether the other person wanted the same thing. He was selfish and manipulative. He always played things into his hands according to his will.I scoffed bitterly, remembering his past manipulations. That wolf would never change. It was just the way he was.But then his broken face flashed through my mind again, and I couldn’t shake the uncomfortable feeling gnawing at me. I hoped the bitterness would somehow erase the guilt that was eating me alive. But I was only lying to myself because the discomfort remained. His words kept playing over and over in my head. They weren’t just empty words spoken in a fit of anger. Those words were the ra
ElaineTristan glanced at me for a moment. His eyes scanned me from head to toe. With that innocent look plastered on his face, which I knew was just an act, he asked,“What do you want me to say?”My jaw dropped, completely caught off guard by his absurd response. He casually went back to drinking his coffee as if nothing happened and ignored me once again. My nose flared, and something inside me snapped. It was like a volcano erupting, spewing out all the anger I’d been holding back. I pointed my finger at him and yelled,“I know what kind of wolf you are!” I took a step closer with my gritted teeth. “I know you very well, Tristan. So stop this act already.”Before he could even think of a comeback, I continued.“You’re just waiting for the right time to dig deeper into the Silvermare issue you guys had last night.” I scoffed, crossing my arms. “Maybe you’ll even use it against me. Against Trevor. I wouldn’t be surprised knowing that you don’t care if you hurt someone along the way
ElaineI heard something moving beside me. Stretching my arms, I let out a big yawn before finally opening my eyes.“Good morning, honey,” Trevor greeted me with a smile. His hair was still damp, like he had just gotten out of the shower. His casual clothes suited him well.“Good morning, honey. Where are you going?” I asked, slowly sitting up in bed. My hair was still messy, and my eyes felt heavy.“Did you sleep well last night?” he asked.“Not really,” I replied, thinking about the dream I had.“It’s probably because of the stress from yesterday,” Trevor said as he brushed his hair into his usual style. “If you don’t have any plans today, you can sleep a little more.”“I’m okay. I’ll help out with the chores,” I said. For some reason, I found his style today oddly attractive. It was different from his usual CEO look. Without even realizing it, a sweet smile had already formed on my face.Trevor stopped brushing his hair and looked at me curiously.“What’s wrong, honey?” he asked. T
ElaineThe fog was thick and cold, making it hard to see or breathe. My heart pounded as I looked around. I'm trying to make sense of where I was. Everything felt strange, and a heavy feeling settled in my chest. I couldn’t shake off the fear crawling up my spine. And yet, I continued walking. Suddenly, a shadow moved in the distance. My eyes widened as a massive figure stepped out from the fog. I froze, and was barely able to process what I was seeing. It was a huge figure. A Lycan, to be exact. Her form was almost human-like, except for a pair of pointed ears and a slightly paler complexion. Her sharp, piercing eyes glowed with a mix of blue and gold. It was like fire and ice blended together in such perfect harmony. There was something magical in her presence that I couldn’t quite place. I was in awe. I swallowed hard and was unable to look away.As she moved closer, I couldn’t help but notice how graceful and powerful she looked, even with her massive frame. Her posture was co
ElaineThanks to Trevor, I managed to avoid giving an answer for now. But that didn’t mean my worries had disappeared. I was still lost in thought, grappling with the truth about my nature. At this point, I didn’t even know what I really was anymore. I had expected things to go my way,as long as I kept my wolf under control, I’d be able to live separately from her. And on top of that, the mate bond between Tristan and me would mean nothing. I could finally be free. But everything was falling apart and slipped further from what I wanted.“Honey, maybe you should get some rest. We’ll figure things out later.”I knew Trevor was speaking to me, but his words barely registered. My mind was still adrift, weighed down by the responsibility they were forcing on me.“Honey?” Trevor called out again.I turned to look at him, my eyes welling up with tears. Somehow, Trevor seemed to sense the weight on my chest. He pulled me closer, wrapping his strong arms around me.I couldn’t hold back anymore
ElaineTrevor handed me a warm cup of herbal tea.“One of the Omegas gave me this. It’s a fresh tea they make from scratch.” He took a sip and smiled. “Do you like it?”I carefully pressed my lips to the lid of the cup, letting the warm tea flow into my mouth. The taste was completely different from what we had in the city. It tasteed so authentic and earthy.“Wow! I’m amazed at how they make things from scratch.” I took another sip, and Trevor’s smile grew wider.“I’m glad you’re really not affected by what happened earlier,” he said suddenly. So, Trevor was still worried about Alpha Eddie.“Of course not,” I assured him. “Alpha Eddie is sick, and he didn’t cause any harm. Maybe he was just overwhelmed by the emotions that seeing me brought back.”“Maybe.” Trevor refilled his cup.“It’s no big deal, honey,” I told him again. The old man’s face crossed my mind, and I suddenly felt comfortable enough to ask Trevor a question that had been lingering in my thoughts.“If my dad were here,
TristanAlpha Earl pointed to some text on the page.“Here, read this,” he said as he slid the book toward me.I took it cautiously. My eyes landed on the bold, ancient script and started reading.“Silvermares have enhanced skills not comparable to a regular spirit wolf. Their power goes beyond anyone’s wild imagination.”Shock coursed through me, and I couldn’t tear my gaze away from the next paragraph. Jared leaned closer and read it aloud.“But this gift is only possible to possess if the wielder learns how to navigate it.”He turned his eyes toward Alpha Earl. His face was a mixture of confusion and disbelief. Alpha Earl simply nodded, as if they shared some unspoken understanding. I felt a flicker of frustration and glanced between the two of them.I was left in my own thoughts and struggled to make sense of it all. Elaine? A Silvermare? It didn’t add up. As far as I knew, Elaine was wolfless. She was just an ordinary she-wolf who worked as a secretary. Nothing about her hinted a
TristanI thought of Alpha Earl as a man of composure. But today, I saw something different. He wasn’t just an Alpha of the beautiful Silver Rose Pack. He was also a loving and patient son to his aging father. “Son, you have to believe me. I saw a Silvermare, and a very beautiful one!” The room fell silent. Alpha Earl’s hand never left his father’s shoulder. I could see the strain behind his composed facade. The way his jaw clenched just slightly was an indicator that he was holding back a wave of emotion inside of him. And yet, he didn’t scold his father or dismiss his ramblings. Instead, he gently patted his arm and reassured him. “I understand, Father. We’ll talk about this later. It’s time for your meal.” Alpha Earl looked over to the warrior standing by the door. “Take Alpha Eddie to his room. Tell the omegas to bring his favorite food.”The warrior nodded and moved to escort the old Alpha out. Alpha Eddie resisted at first and was still muttering about Silvermares and powerf
TristanAlpha Earl and I sat at his table inside the packhouse, enjoying a morning tea served by his attendants. The tea was freshly picked from their garden. Its aroma perfectly suited for morning meetings like this.At the very least, a cup of tea helped lighten the weight of our problems. Somehow, we could discuss the greatest conflict facing Wolfsilver over a simple drink.“So, Alpha Tristan… what’s your next move?” Alpha Earl asked, taking a sip from his cup.I held my own cup, the heat of the fresh tea rising to my nose as I took a careful sip. Jared sat with us as well. After all, he was the only warrior I could truly rely on from my pack.“I only have one thing in mind: to train and grow stronger,” I said firmly. “I can’t reclaim my throne with my current strength. That’s why I wish to train here, under your guidance.”My grip on the cup tightened, my hands shaking slightly as the mere thought of Travis filled me with rage.“I will beat him. I will send Travis back to where he
