Chapter 2

"SOMEONE PLEASE CALL AN ABUNDANCE!" I yelled at the top of my voice, my eyes widened in shock. I went on my knees in fear before Tiffany came and rushed towards Jasper and slapped my hand away from him.

"You bitch you did this to him and you don't have any right to touch him!" Tiffany yelled and gave me an evil look.

"He is my husband, what do you mean?" I replied feeling so confused and overwhelmed everything just happened so fast.

Before you know it, the Ambulance arrived and the EMT came in and rushed Jasper in the Ambulance but then I was stopped by one of the EMTs. "Sorry Miss but only one family member at a time."

"Bu…but I'm his wife" I stammered my whole body trembling, Tiffany pushed me out of the way and entered the ambulance "What are you waiting for? Let's go" and then shut the door and drove off.

I just stood there in confusion before I heard yelling behind me. "Oh my son Ruby what happened?" Jasper's father asked, his face looking sweaty with a worried look on his face.

I struggled to find the right words but then I replied to him my voice trembling"I.. I don't know, everything just happened so fast."

"Hurry follow me let's go to the hospital" he said as he rushed towards a fancy car and got into the driver's seat and I followed him and entered the back seat.

And then he drove off to the hospital when we got to the hospital.

When we got to the hospital we went to the reception and met a lady there "Hello good evening how can I help you?" She asked with a friendly t on her face.

I responded to her with a worried look on my face "Please is Mr Jasper Tate here we need to see him." I said with Jasper's Dad standing beside me.

"He was just rushed in not so long ago, they are attending to him right now, I will let the doctor know you're here so that he can give you information about him, so kindly take a seat. " The nurse at the reception said as she then stood up and walked away.

I sat on the seat nearby and my legs began to shake. My hands were sweaty as I folded them and looked now in worry.

"Ruby please take care, I have to go home now it's getting late. If you have any new information about Jasper don't hesitate to let me know" Jasper's Dad told me. I looked up to him and nodded my head in agreement then he walked out and left the hospital.

I laid my head back on the seat trying to get more comfortable, and my eyes began to close slowly. It was a long day and I was very tired so I ended up taking a nap on the seat.

Minutes later the nurse gently tapped me on my shoulder to wake me up "Um Ma'am."

I slowly opened my eyes, my vision still blurry from the nap "Ye.. yes how can I help you?" I asked.

"Mr Jasper is now awake and he is doing much better now so you can come in and see him." She began to lead the way as I quickly stood up then I stretched my body and used my hands to clear my blurry eyes then I followed her.

When we got to the room she gently opened the door and I saw Jasper lying on the bed shirtless with a bandage that went from his shoulder down to his waist, then I saw the lady from the party Tiffany holding his palm and looking at his face.

The nurse then left the room and I loudly cleared my throat, and both Jasper and Tiffany turned to look at me.

"What are you doing here now? After abandoning me." Jasper said with an angry look on his face, and Tiffany just gave me a wicked smile.

"What do you mean? I abandoned you. This whole time I have been in the hospital all night waiting for you to wake up." I said my facial expression going from relief to disappointment

"Ruby as you can see I'm not in the position to argue with you right now I will call you a driver to come and pick you up so just leave and get back to the house I don't want to see your face right now" Jasper replied as he pushed his head back into his pillow.

I was too speechless and confused to speak. I looked at Tiffany and she had an evil smirk on her face and waved goodbye to me, then I left the room and ran outside the hospital.

When I got outside I was crowded by a lot of paparazzi, and cameras started flashing in her face and bombarding her with questions.

"What happened to Mr Tate?"

"Is Mr Tate dead?"

"Is it true that you are his wife?"

"Do you think someone is trying to kill Mr Tate?"

The paparazzi were shoving cameras and microphones in my face, but I tried my best to ignore them as I continued to push my way through the crowd.

Suddenly a sleek black sports car pulled up in front of her, and the door was opened by a tall muscular man in a black suit "Get in quickly Mrs Tate" the man said in a firm but gentle tone.

I looked at him surprised as she asked "Who are you?" In a confused tone.

The man replied to me in a more fierce firm tone looking very unpleased by my question"I was the driver sent to pick you up now get in."

So without any more questions, I quickly opened the door to the backseat and I got in and sat down. Throughout the car drive, I was just staring out the window and was thinking about what just happened.

When we finally got to the mansion I ran inside and as I was going up the stairs I accidentally twisted my ankle and it made me slip as I was falling backwards I felt two strong muscular arms hold me around my waist which saved me from falling.

"Wow, it's not every day beautiful ladies fall into my arms" a deep gentle voice said behind me.

I stood up in relief and turned around to look at the man who just saved me, and believe me when I say this man was very handsome. He is tall, dark-skinned with the hottest warm brown eyes and a banging snake tattoo on his left hand.

"Erm.. thank you for saving me," I said before turning around to continue going up the stairs

"So you're not even going to tell me your name?" He asked in a gentle deep voice

"Umm… Ruby…. my name is Ruby" I stammered in a soft tone.

"Ruby, it's nice to meet you. My name is Caden Banks. I hope you don't mind if we can get to know each other…. Maybe go for dinner sometime." He said in a deep charming tone.

"Well I don't know… listen thank you again but I have to go" I replied and walked off to my room.

When I got to my room I immediately went to take a nice warm shower and then I put on some comfortable clothes. I pulled out my phone and called my mother.

Ruby: Hello Mom.

Ruby's mom: Oh hello dear I was worried about you, I heard the news is everything okay?

Ruby: Yes Mom, everything is okay and I'm fine so don't worry about it.

Ruby's mom: okay dear if you say so please take care of yourself

Ruby: I will Mom, and you take care of yourself, bye.

After the call, I laid down on my bed and reminded myself why I was here and all this was just temporary.

My eyes began to close slowly and I slept off, only to wake up by someone knocking on my door.

I got up still feeling sleepy "Yes who is it?" I asked, my eyelids were still very heavy.

"Miss Ruby, Mr Jasper wants you in his bedroom now." The maid replied in a firm tone

I stretched my hand and yawned "Okay I will be with him in a minute."

I walked to the door and opened it and went to Jasper's room. I began to knock on the door but I got no response so I just let myself in and I saw Tiffany sitting on Jasper's bed.

"Oh, Ruby isn't it? I was waiting for you." She said in a charming tone

"What do you want, Tiffany? I'm too tired for this, and where is Jasper?" I asked with curiosity as I looked at Tiffany

Tiffany got up from the bed and said "That bullet wasn't meant for Jasper. It was meant for you.
