Chapter 3

The day of the attack arrived. I am dressed and ready as I step out of my chambers and make my way to the door. It was snowing, the whiteness spreading every where and my thoughts went to how blood would look on this snow.

"Greetings, Milord" Demitri said as he walked towards me, bowing as be did.

"Ready?" He nodded. I walked over to where the men waited and I was pleased with what I saw. All the men arranged properly, each with a look of resolution at the work ahead.

"Greetings, Alpha Adrian!" They all greeted, their voices thundering loud and clear. Their bright gold and black uniforms standing out even more in the white and snowy background and so did the flag that was held. The flag which was the image of a full moon with the crescent part of it highlighted.

As I looked around and examined the men, I suddenly realized that someone was missing, I wondered why Asher wasn't here.

"He said that something very important came up." Demitri said. More important than this? I was going to say something but I didn't have time for that anyway.

I turned to the men, "Shift." Immediately, they did just that.

Sounds of bones cracking and rearranging echoed as they all shifted and transformed into vicious looking werewolves, including Demitri and I was the last to follow.

We all raced to Riverton, our fur brushing through the wind and our senses heightened.

As we got closer to Riverton, my heart starts beating faster. This is it. This is the moment that I have been waiting for.

As we entered the territory of Riverton, we are met with resistance.

"Halt and state your business!" The gaurds at the border say. It didn't need to say anything, my men knew exactly what to do and soon enough they were no living gaurds protecting the border and we went right in.

It was faster and easier than I thought but I gave it my all. It helped that they did not expect it.

The battle is fierce, but we are determined to succeed. Riveton soldiers did not in the least expect or prepare for this. As my claw tear through every one of them,I can feel the rage inside me fueling my every move.

I male my way to the heart of Riverton, the royal palace where Johan is waiting for us. He looks surprised to see us, and I can see the fear in his eyes. He immediately shifted and tried to run as every other person in the palace scatter. I beckoned and the follow everyone who is trying to escape, every one of them and it didn't matter if it was the Luna, her daughters, sons, maids, slaves—one by one, my men finished them off.

I focused on Johan and ran after him, my weight pushing him to the ground as I press him down, glaring and growling at him and he shifted back, frowning and I did the same.

"You shouldn't have come here, Adrian," Johan says, his voice dripping with contempt. "You know what happened the last time you crossed into my territory."

"I remember all too well," I reply, my voice cold and hard. "But this time, things will be different."

Johan laughs, a cruel sound that echoes through the clearing. "You are foolish to think that you can defeat me. I am the Alpha of the oldest and strongest pack in these woods."

"You may be strong, Johan," I say, my hands clenching into fists. "But you are also responsible for the death of my mate. And for that, you will pay."

Johan snarls, and then lunges at me. I am ready for him, and we collide with a force that shakes the ground. We grapple with each other, our claws and teeth tearing at flesh.

"You will never defeat me, Adrian!" Johan growls, as he throws me to the ground.

I quickly get back on my feet, determined not to let him get the upper hand. "We'll see about that," I say, as I charge at him.

We continue to fight, our movements quick and deadly. I can feel the anger and pain inside me, driving my every move. I will not rest until Johan is defeated.

"You are strong, Adrian," Johan says, as we circle each other. "But you lack experience. You are no match for me!"

We fight for what seems like hours, our bodies becoming bloody and battered. But I refuse to give up. I will not let Johan win.

Finally, I see my chance. Johan makes a mistake, and I am able to land a powerful blow. He staggers back, and I seize the opportunity to finish him off. I immediately shifted, my wolf growling loudly as I lunge forward and push him down, a claw at his throat.

I saw the fear that suddenly enveloped him.

"Wait, Adrian don't do this.." he began to beg, "You're ending innocent lives—"

"Are you innocent?" I asked back, shifting human for a moment"You are nothing but an old coward. A fool who messed with the wrong person! Were you trying to get to me through Kya? Wasn't she innocent?"

 "Please.."

I shifted back and raised my paw. I'm sure Kya said please too. I swiped my claws against his neck and that ended it.
