Chapter 2

Author: Royal Shrine
"Stella, are you joking? I'm your boyfriend, Justin Reed!" Justin grabbed my hand again and laughed.

However, as he looked into my fearful eyes, mistaking my distress for pretense, his tone gradually grew impatient. "It was wrong of me to push you into the sea, but there's no need for this. You're fine now, aren't you?"

"Boyfriend? What nonsense are you talking about?! My boyfriend is Raleigh Landon!"

I abruptly pulled away from his grasp, clutching a pillow in front of me, glaring at him with sharp, wary eyes.

I had no idea who he was!

"What?! Who did you say is your boyfriend?!" Justin's eyes bulged with anger, and he slammed his fist on the bedside table.

Raleigh was his archenemy, ever since childhood!

He had consistently been defeated by Raleigh, nurturing a profound hatred for him that he couldn't even articulate.

As I looked around the empty hospital room, then at Justin, who was approaching with growing fury, I shouted anxiously, "Don't touch me! I don't know you!"

My outcry summoned the doctor.

Seeing how resistant I was to Justin, the nurse escorted him out of the room to wait at the door.

The doctor conducted a series of examinations on me, asking many questions. Afterward, he advised me to rest.

Justin stood by the door for a while, calming down. As soon as the doctor left, he rushed forward and interrogated, "Doctor, what's wrong with my girlfriend? Why doesn't she recognize me? And how could she claim another man as her boyfriend?"

"She might have experienced some trauma causing memory loss. She might recover after some time, but don't stress her during this period," the doctor instructed.

Justin was in disbelief!

How could she just forget about him?!

As soon as the doctor left, Justin barged into the room. He pushed me down onto the bed, his face menacing as he demanded, "All I did was push you into the sea! Do you really have to pretend to have amnesia?"

Hearing the commotion, several nurses rushed in, pulling him away.

"What kind of boyfriend are you?! Don’t go in there to upset her! Otherwise, she might never recognize you!"

The nurse peered through the tiny window on the door and saw me curled up on the hospital bed. She then turned to warn Justin.

Justin paid no heed. He wanted to see how long I could keep up the act.

Not long after, my parents arrived at the hospital.

Justin feared the truth about him pushing me into the sea would come out, so he didn't even tell them I was in the hospital.

While the Reed family had considerable influence in River City, the Wright family's power was not to be underestimated. Additionally, the Reed Group still relied on my father's investment, and I served as the chief architect for the company.

Justin needed my family's resources and my expertise.

"Mr. and Mrs. Wright, just look at Stella. She's putting on quite the act, pretending not to recognize me. She even grabbed my arm just now," Justin complained to my parents, wearing a smile.

My parents were shocked.

They hurried to my bedside, pointing at themselves. "Stella, do you recognize us?"

They were afraid I might have forgotten them.

"Dad, Mom, what nonsense are you talking about? How could I not recognize you?" I laughed at their nervous expressions.

They breathed a sigh of relief.

Witnessing my pale and tired face, they felt sorry for me. They caressed my face tenderly and inquired, "Stella, the doctor mentioned you almost drowned. They worked hard to revive you all night. Aren’t you afraid of water? What were you doing at the seaside?"

However, when I saw Justin coming in, I screamed and hid behind my parents.

"Dad, Mom, this person is crazy! Don't let him touch me!"

As our lips met, Raleigh's pupils suddenly contracted. This was our first kiss. I had kissed him once before, but it was just on the cheek. He lifted my head with his hand, deepening the kiss. After a while, he rolled over, allowing me to lie on the bed, and fervently kissed my lips. It was intense, almost animalistic. The air grew hot and humid. "Raleigh, Raleigh," I struggled to catch my breath, my tongue tingling, and I placed my hand on his chest, blushing deeply. "Aren't we rushing things a bit?" Raleigh's eyes were deep, with a hint of tenderness. "Sorry, I might have drunk too much," he said, but he pressed his body against mine, wrapped his arms around my waist, and drifted off to sleep.I struggled a bit but found I couldn't move. I glanced at him and noticed he appeared relaxed as if he was truly asleep.Since I couldn't leave, I spent the night at Raleigh's place. Early the next morning, I rolled over and fell into a warm embrace. Opening my eyes, I saw Raleigh lyi

I searched around and found Raleigh in the second-floor bedroom. He reeked of alcohol, slouched on the edge of the bed, holding a wine bottle in one hand and clutching a photo frame in the other. His shirt was half unbuttoned, exposing his fair and sturdy chest. When I reached for the wine bottle, he released his grip. However, the moment I took hold of the photo frame, he abruptly opened his eyes, his deep and intense gaze locking onto me, clouded with the effects of alcohol."Don't touch this," he said, his voice husky. His words piqued my curiosity, so I smiled and asked, "Can I see?" "No," he replied sharply.Seeing his stubbornness, I didn't insist. Instead, I helped him up, laid him on the bed, removed his shoes, and then went to fetch him a glass of water. While he drank, I took a peek at the photo frame. It was a picture of me kissing him.“What’s so precious about this?” I wondered."Raleigh, why did you drink so much? This isn't like you," I asked in a serious tone as I

Justin was speechless."I wasn't sincere with Jasmine, but what about you and Raleigh? Who are you to accuse me? You slept with him too, didn't you?" He found an opening and interrogated me."Whether I did or didn't, what does it matter to you?" I retorted coldly."The old me died the moment you pushed me into the sea. Everything afterward has nothing to do with you," I said, my gaze darkening gradually.Justin felt a pang in his heart seeing my indifferent expression. He grabbed my hand, still trying to argue. "I won't break up with you. I can just dump Jasmine. I don't love her at all. It's you that I love."Having been together for three years, Justin was always convinced that my love for him would last forever.I tried to break free from his grip, but this time he held on tightly. My dad intervened, pulling me behind him and slapping Justin."You disgusting bastard! Justin noticed my silence and intensified the pressure of his hands on my shoulders, urgency creeping into his voice."I remember," I said with a cold laugh.Justin was so excited upon hearing this that he wanted to hug me, but I raised my hand and blocked him."I remember I only agreed to be your girlfriend after you pursued me for three years. I remember how emotional you were when I finally agreed, and I remember your promise of a lifetime together. All of that is still vivid in my memory," I said, tears welling up in my eyes."But do you remember any of these?" I asked Justin.Justin was at a loss for words."You mentioned buying me

"Mr. Reed, looking at Miss Wright's condition, you might need to spend more time with her, and take her to places you've been before. It might help her remember you," the doctor said."You’re useless! And to think you call yourself the best neurologist in the country. If Stella can't remember me, you can forget about keeping your reputation!" Justin shoved the doctor aside, scolded him, and then left. However, before Justin could put his plan into action, his father found the villa where he and Jasmine were living.Justin was holding Jasmine, drowning his sorrows in alcohol.
