Finding Emma's Real Parents

Emma's POV

The housekeepers who were working around the house stopped when they heard me raise my voice. Mrs Digory came out and asked, “Is everything alright, Miss Whitemane?”

“Yes, it is.” I said and asked her to go back to her work.

As soon as she left, my dad grabbed my elbow and shook me. He was clutching my hand so tightly that the pain went throbbing down my veins.

“Austin, what are you doing? Let her go.” My mother tried to stop him but he did not listen.

He said, “You ruined the family's reputation by getting involved in that murder scandal, no one wants to marry your brother anymore. Being involved with the Sinclairs is our only way to climb back on the social ladder.”

My eyes flared open, “But I didn't do it. I was wrongly accused.”

“And you think any of us care?” He gritted his teeth and let go of my hand which was almost numb at this point. He said, “You caused this, now fix this too.”

The couple turned around to leave and I asked, “And what if I don't?”
