Chapter sixty two

"I can't believe how much you've grown, Susan," Abigail said, smiling warmly at her daughter. "You've turned into such a beautiful young woman."

Susan rolled her eyes at her mother's compliments. She was used to hearing them from men, not her mother. "Yeah, well, I did have good genes to work with."

Abigail chuckled softly. "I see some things haven't changed."

"It's so good to have you here, Susan," Abigail said, placing her hand over Susan's. "I've missed you so much."

Susan smiled, a little embarrassed. "I've missed you too, Mom. I'm sorry I haven't kept in touch over the years. I was just so caught up in my own life."

Susan had left her pack when she was barely eighteen. She was this type of stubborn teenager who believed she was always right. She got into quarrels so often with her mother that she was determined to leave her.
