Hah! At last I've capture them, now I've secured my poi--- what was that? My vision began to dim, slowly until it was completely gone. I blinked rapidly and I regained my sight back but all I could see now is a radiant black light like those colorful Tinkers but this one is, oh, it's the black tinker, the strong one. I guess I became its victim. I should probably be panicking right now but for some reason I don't feel anxious or scared.

"Listarte" A voice that seems so distant echoed in my ear.

Who's there? I asked.

"You have showed great power," it said on an approving tone. I even imagined the voice nodding.

What do you mean? And who are you?

“I am the guardian of these Tinkers; some calls me the Great Tinker. I have come to meet you my dear"

What, what do you need from me?

"I do not need anything from you dear Lista, I have come to pay respect and to warn you of the foreboding danger. You shall prepare yourself the descent is near. Be alert dear Lista, they are coming"

The calm distant voice started to fade and I started to hear the noise in my surroundings. I’m lying on the ground? Gosh. Did I faint? I quickly stood up and realized that there are people circling me.

"Are you okay Lady?" asked a little boy. He was around the age of seven.

"You were amazing!" He added with twinkling eyes. I was amazing? I looked around and saw a student of the Academe check if there are any injured participants. The first test was already done. I guess I fainted after I saw that black tinker. I smiled at the boy.

"Yes I’m--

“MORÍA!” shouted someone. From the crowd I saw a very familiar face; panting and covered in sweat was Johann.

"Moria are you hurt?! " he asked with a worried face. It was cute.

"Johann, are you okay?" I asked back as he was panting hard.

"What are you talking about? You're the one who's injured!" he shouted in a low voice as he pointed my arm. I noticed there was a bandage on it

"Oh this?" I glanced at my arm.

"I think I got it from the fall but I'm definitely okay" I said and looked around for the person who healed me but I only saw the back of the child I saw when I woke up. I glanced at Johann and his face was still laced with worry. It looked like any minute from now he would begin to blame himself.

"Hey Johann, I'm okay.  I’m strong you know" I patted his cheek twice as I returned his words a few days ago assuring him that I was okay. He just doesn’t stop worrying.

"Okay, let's talk again later, the next test will start soon. Are you sure you could continue? You can stop Moria. Hey, why are you smiling?" his brows definitely just met I cannot help but giggle. Johann is just too cute.

"This is no big deal I promise. Okay, let's talk again later" he reluctantly walked back to the benches massaging his temples. Johann was still on his usual outfit, his black suit and white gloves. His ashen gray hair’s blue parallel linings that glints whenever it meets the sun’s rays and hidden in his spectacles were his sharp scarlet eyes that made him look endearing.

When Johann reached the benches, the announcer began announcing the results of the first test.

"Wizlings, I have here in my hand the list of the people who have qualified for the next test. I believe all examinees are safe. Those who have been injured have been treated so we have nothing to worry about. The examinee that aced this test is, ladies and gents let us raise our wands and staffs to, Ms. Listarte Moria Graciana! She has gained 70 points! Catching 60 green Tinkers and one black Tinker"

The stadium was filled with applauses as I was guided to the stage together with two other examinees.

"Together with these two young lads, Ms. Antonella Locke which is our third placer and Mr. Luther Grucius Orien our second placer, earning 47 and 55 points consecutively, let us once again congratulate them. These three mahò users will proceed to the next round together with all the participants who captured at least 30 points. Now without further ado, let the artificial dimension change and witness the second test unfold before your eyes!”

The space inside the stadium distorted once again. The scenery changed into a mini forest with a huge lake. This scenery was quite familiar.

“Participants, you are now inside an artificial Lake of Masks, I understand that you all know what this means? Yes! You lot will undergo the challenge of the Empousai. Conquer the illusions these Empousai’s throw at you in 10 minutes. Those who can break free within the time limit shall welcome a year of adventure in the Gaearandys Academe of White Mahò!”

“May the blessings of the sacred tree, Gaearandys be with you,” the public information officer ended.  So the test was like this. Everyone around Llfhame knows the treacherous Lake of Masks; it was pullulated with Empousais. On frequent situations they are harmless, but they love to make fun of people using illusions. And when you fail to get out of these illusions you will find yourself drowning in the lake.

The artificial lake spread towards the remaining participants. At first the water was on ankle level but on a second it was nearing my waist. I was about to go to ground when a slimy hand grabbed my foot and I found myself submerged into the water. Underwater I saw an Empousai; it looked like what the book I have once read described. Half wizling, half fish. They’re skin is slimy and had scales all over their lower body. They are adorned with jewels which they love the most. The Empousai held my arms and loomed closer to me. Its long greenish black hair circled around my body and my mind went black.

I opened my eyes and found myself in the flower field outside the Willow. The flowers were in bloom and crystal blue butterflies fluttered around. I reached out my finger and one of them landed on it. I smiled and raise my hand to let it hover again. I outstretched my palm and looked up in the sun with squinting eyes.

“You’re here early,” a voice called out from behind.

I turned around and saw a man wearing unusual clothes. Though I have not seen it before, it looked like a battle suit. His black cape was deliberately cut into two and I saw the crescent moon orbited by a gale of wind emblem as it flapped with the breeze. The man’s face was blurred in my eyes. I wanted to ask who he was, but my body moved on its own, I ran towards the man, it was then that I noticed the clothes I was wearing. It was a long white gown that nearly touches the ground but as if there was air beneath my feet the hem of the gown fluttered around my ankles, it was tightly hugging my chest but was backless and the scarf like fabric hovered around my body.

My body hugged the man, my arms circled in his neck and I buried my face in his shoulders.

“We need to go to them now.” I said. I was still not in control of my own body and I haven’t got any idea what I was talking about. But the man’s face was slowly getting clearer. The fog was completely washed away and Johannes’ face greeted my eyes.

“Can’t we just stay here? You’ll be safer here,” he said

“But they will die!” I exclaimed.

“Let them be,” Johannes said nonchalantly.

Although I don’t know what we were talking about I was grieved by Johannes answer. Disregarding lives so easily was not his character. I know he was not Johann. I attempted to break free from his embrace but he clutched my back tighter. Struggling I brought back my control over my body. I forcefully pushed and when I succeeded the entire scenery changed. The surroundings were pitched black the air was thick and I smelled something pungent. When I looked down I was horrified with the scene under my feet. Standing in a pile of bodies my white gown was soaked in red. In my hands were dry blood and a worn out wand. Bile rose from my throat, the hot sensation in my body was uncomfortable. My ears were filled with creepy cries and hysterical screams; it was as if the voices were delirious.

“I told you to stay in the Willows.” A voice called out from the bottom of the piles of dead bodies. I looked down and saw the man with Johann’s face. His face was shrouded with contempt and anger. I shook my head, ready to deny the atrocious act I currently displayed.

“Look at what you have done, you killed all of them,” he shouted. The scene changed once again and it was horrifying than ever. Standing close to me was Johann, my hands were in his stomach holding a knife. My hands were sticky with blood and my eyes were filled with tears. I quickly broke hold of the knife and stepped backwards.  I began to shake my head violently.

“Kill me Lista. Save yourself.” he said helplessly. This was all wrong.

“I—I can’t, no, no please” I cried. My hands were trembling and my body was shaking. Suddenly I heard a piercing laugh. Johann was laughing evilly.

“I know! I know you can’t kill this man.” I looked at him with confused eyes.

“But if you don’t kill him you can’t live, would you rather die instead?” Johann said, or rather the man with Johann’s face said. What is happening?

“Kill me Lista,” the look in his face changed once again. It was the helpless’ Johann’s face again. My heart started to ache this is so cruel. How could I even attempt to kill Johann? Again his eyes changed.

“If you don’t kill any one of you, then I will kill this vessel,” the creepy voice said. Does he mean I should die if I don’t want to kill Johann? If I choose not to kill Johann or myself, he will kill Johann. This is crazy.  The end product is the same. Johann would end up dead.

I cleared my head and gathered my strength to stand straight. I picked up the knife and positioned it in my chest, ready to stab myself.

“No, don’t,” the helpless Johann said. I smile painfully and moved the knife closer. Only an inch far, I saw a glimpsed of the helpless Johann. In his face was a trace of mocking smile. I changed the trajectory of the knife piercing his heart instead of mine. It was painful watching his expression. It was with no doubt the face of the man I have been friends with for quite a long time now. But I was also certain that it was not him. Johann would never disregard life. He would never blame anyone. And he only calls me Moria.

“Johann would never call me Lista, you bitch”

I gasped for air; my body was heavy and soaked with water. I saw the Empousai swimming farther away leaving only the ripples of water from where it swam. I heard the crowds applaud and the public information officer’s cry.

“Ladies and gentleman let us applause for our second qualifier and now an official student of the Gaearandys Academe of White Mahò, Miss Listarte Moria Graciana!”

The cheers outside hasn't subsided. The thrill of the exam was still on going the crowd wasn’t even growing tired while I on the other hand felt a thousand sharp knives piercing my body. The mental challenge was even harder than any physical exercise! Plus the mana exhaustion I was feeling, my body was ready to retire to bed anytime. Currently I am in the orientation hall of the academy. The 30 white mahò users who passed the second test were all gathered here. Out of the 150 examinees only this bunch withstood the challenges. Everyone’s appearance was traced with tiredness and faces were haggard as if they have ventured in a 1o kilometer run before arriving her but they also had satisfied expressions, proud that they have come this far. The headmaster himself will welcome all the incoming 1st years and will brief everyone regarding the rules and regulations of the Academe."Did you know? They say the principal is an aberrant," said Antonella, the second placer of the

Where will I see another wind mage as strong as you, if I beat you here I would be the strongest.” Lalia stood firm, resolved in beating the opponent. She threw another spell towards the woman, leaping backwards to have a better range.“Chime Wind, Defendio,” defended the woman. The opponent, who was also have wind as her element was clearly stronger than Lalia. But Lalia wanted to defeat her, not for her pride but to become even stronger to protect her love ones.“Power unfathomableBlow everything possible, Blast!” Lalia casted again, the spell produced a strong wind leaving even trees uprooted. "What do you mean what a surprise, you were the one who barged in here!” headmaster shouted in a whisper. “Oh, I didn’t know you were the professor here, so it’s truly a surprise, haven’t seen you in a while,” the woman’s voice was still lively. “And how did you get here? Did he give permission?” When the headmaster asked this, the woman’s face slightly turned sour, but was quickly replaced with a proud look, chin up, she said the next words that earned a reaction from the froze wizlings. “Ha! Yes, I got permission from Johannes, that man, not even allowing us to get some fresh air.” She exasperated. By the mention of Johann’s name the huge door opened once again revealing a nearly out of breath Johannes. “What have just happened?” Nellie spoke, still astonished by what just happened. Who was that woman? Who was she in Johann’s life? I was already hearing the other girls talking. They even didn’t make an effort to avoid letting me hear their conversat

“Call the law of natureHeed my desperate criesCool what hast lived in the windCrystal ice heaven shall send”A rain of crystalize ice poured down towards the vice-captain. I stumbled back receiving the impact of the heavy spell. Mist and dust covered the surroundings and shards of ice were stuck on the ground. When the smoke dissipated a taken aback vice-captain was standing there holding her right arm which was bleeding and the blouse of her uniform was torn revealing the wound caused by the ice shards in her shoulder. Her eyes were in fury, without wasting time she raised her wand, performed a quirk and threw a spell at me.“Seething fire of judgment,Burn my adversaryBefore their eyes show your fury!”The red orange fire blasted towards me ready to engulf me whole. It was exceptionally fast. I casted a Defendio defensive spell but was not fast enough, I receive burns in m

“Moria,” Johann called out.I halted and faced him with a practiced smile. Nellie and the others grinned at me and bid their farewells insisting that they go back to the dorms first. I nodded reluctantly accepting the awkward atmosphere between me and Johann.“How’s your day? We haven’t seen each other all day long,” Johann said, plastered in his face was his usual gentle look.My brows met upon hearing his statement. I just saw him this morning after all. Ah, so he really didn’t notice me earlier. For some reason the thought irritated me. But I quickly extinguished the feeling, as I know it was not quite right. I avoided his gaze but later realized it was a wrong decision. I caught a glimpse of the Aces’ office and unfortunately, the vice-captain was inside.“It was alright, I just encountered some ‘bothersome’ incidents,” I said. His forehead

A gale of wind surrounded my body as I performed my quirk. A quick movement of my wand from left to right and twirling it after a strong flick, the drawing in the air was a round emblem filled tangled and elaborate symbols. I felt the tingling sensation the wind leaves as it tickles my body. Remembering the days I was scolded for not being able to feel the wind perfectly, I called and whispered to the invisible lad my desire and my will. “Gentle oh you are wind of the celestialHear my plea and grant us theeShow thy might and thy beautyOh wash away all the sorrow thy see”Above my head formed a whirling wind it was moving fast that it could cut all objects it shall pass, the gale of wind around me lifted me up and the whirl filled the room. It was a relief that the audience are safe from it because of the barrier I would not need to worry about anyone facing danger from the spell. From the front desk of the dais I saw a few people jotting down notes, dome

After the performances of the top three examinees the other mahò users who have already done their first test immediately performed the remaining tests. When the class evaluation ended the first years went to the dining hall to relax and fill our empty stomachs. All the nervousness was gone now and chatters of excitement was filling the dining hall. The girls, Luther, and I found ourselves seated in our usual spot in the hall.“But why is this man here?” asked Nellie a little agitated while referring to Mayo who was also seated with us in the first year table.“Well, I wanted to eat that’s why I’m here.” Mayo replied, his tone saying ‘obviously’“Well, senior for your information this is a freshman table,” Nellie rebutted.“Well, there isn’t a rule saying I cannot sit here right?” Mayo said while looking at me. Antonella also gave me the

Final Chapter: Secrets of the WindI caught a glance of myself in the glass wall of the flower shop I was working in. My hair was really the unusual color, like an albino. But I am sure I was not one. I was not born with this hair, through growing up white strands just started to show and now my hair was nearly all white. That was the reason why I cut my long hair and always wear a hat, to hide it from speculating eyes.I fixed my hat and picked up the spray I was using to water the flowers. Just then wind passed by, nearly tucking my hat out of my head. The wind made some flower petals dance with it up above the air. I smiled by the beautiful scenery of the dancing petals basking under the rays of the sun.It was a happy scene yet my heart started swelling. Sigh, I just can’t make myself continuously happy, I wonder why too, maybe in my past life I have committed a huge sin?“Christy! Come, your favorite chess tournament is about to end!&rdqu

“Moria!” I flinched when someone slapped my face. Slowly, I opened my eyes and saw a face I have not seen for the longest of time.“How dare you sleep in the middle of a war?” The accusing voice was so refreshing, I missed this feeling.“Ferepia,” I called out to the owner of the hand who slapped me.“Yes it is I, the great fire goddess, now stand Moria, you have a battle to win.”When I realized what was happening I quickly stood up and my eyes witnessed the horrendous scene before me. Dead bodies were everywhere, the once green lush ground was now filled with ash, and the trees that were within battle range were all down, burned and destroyed.Meters away from where I was standing, emitting black energy was The Grand Arch Wizard. But there was something different the energy was decreasing. It was constantly decreasing!“Did it worked goddess Ferepia?”Th

In a short time, a bright flame, no, it was the brightest flame I have ever seen danced in from of us.I did not wasted anymore time, I began to fuse my wind spell at the bright flame. The wind would be the guide of this child’s power, the power that will end the enemies.Together, Lucianna and I raised our hands, pointing our spell towards the huge bubble below us. I saw our allies’ faces inside the Johann’s board domain; I trust that they will hold on.“Now!” With all our strength the huge force was directed down to the battle field.I caught Lucianna when she was about to

There was another detail in the prophecy that everyone failed to take notice of. The most important part that will be the key to all of this, it may be our only chance. It was indeed possible for a goddess to defeat this enemy but only one would not suffice against so many enders. So if one would not be enough, we should just call on more.“To my allies, people of Llfhame, for many decades you have put your trust in the gods. Once again, show your devotion and belief; call upon the help of the gods! Together!” I used air to transmit my voice to my comrades. It is gamble since the enemy could hear it too, but this is the only chance.“Your coward gods would never come!”“But I am already here,”Up above the air, I produced a large magic circle enough to cover the whole battlefield.“Now Johann!” I yelled at Johannes who was fighting below. There was no time for him to look at

“Lucianna!” Johannes exclaimed when Lucianna suddenly launched an attack towards me as she approached us in great haste.“I am sorry oh great goddess of the wind, I just can’t seem to forget my burning hatred for you, can you grant me your benevolence?” she sarcastically remarked.I held Johann’s hand and stopped him from going nearer Lucianna.“What happened?” I asked her.Though it is true that Lucianna hates me I know she did not meant to kill me. There is no intention to kill in the energy surrounding her, in fact there was the willingness to cooperate. And of course her hatred for me. the fact that I am a goddess did not seem to have any effect in her view of me. I am still the annoying girl who stole her love interest.“They are ready to execute the plan anytime. My brother is in position,”I nodded at her and faced Johann, “It is time, go lead everyo

Slashing and clashing sounds could be heard all over the place, the other aces were on standby not so far away from the battle field. William ran all around the place, circling Antonella who was rooted in her place.William could have easily go on offensive and return the damage he have taken but because it was Antonella he was facing, he could only go as far as getting on defensive.“Why wouldn’t you fight me?” asked Antonella with an edge of irritation in her voice. “You indeed see me as someone who is weak! That’s what I hate most about you, it’s always you… the genius, the best, the healthy and outstanding William!”The nearest root started to attack William, he sped forward, towards Antonella but a smoke that was violet in color crawled towards him and he knew that if he inhaled that smoke, he would faint. The wind has become harsher; it felt the brewing danger from the resurrection of the Grand Arch Wizard. Once Johann and the spirits have settled, we came back to the formation and followed the original plan. The others from the academy and the temple were already in their positions, if this comes to worst that plan, we could only hope that is enough.“Don’t worry, we can defeat them,” Johann’s smiling face was oddly not comforting. He trace of smile from what happened earlier was still there, I shook my head in disbelief which only made him grin wider.“William is still restraining Antonella, and we could already see the progress, everything is going as planned.”I remembered the meeting we had at the academe, how we formulated the plan and prepared all the back up plans in case the first strategy fails. We have used all the resources we have, all to not let the Grand Arch Wizard grow more. We should

The wind brushed harshly against my skin as I soar higher to the skies, the creeping feeling of his gaze still lingers in my skin. Quinn has also felt it, the overwhelming pressure the enemy emits.“What are you planning to do?” Beside me Johann struggled to fight against the pressure of the wind, my eyes rounded when I realized he was with me.I was too hasty, when I felt that gaze I moved on instinct, and my instinct was telling me to run away from that place immediately. I ordered Quinn to halt and the wind quickly calmed down, we were higher up in the skies, we were not able to see what was on the ground anymore. What I saw up here was a familiar scene, I once saw this in my memories, that time I was with him, “Harlequin,” the name suddenly came out of my mouth.“Moria?” there was wonder in his voice but I could hear the joy by my mere utterance of that name.“The Grand Arch Wizard has ful
