Lana’s POV

It was the worst I had felt in a long time. It hadn’t even been that bad in Logan’s pack. Every now and then my stomach would turn but I could always manage to cope with the stench. This was on a whole new level.

I watch as he moves room to room, grabbing what he considered to be my essentials. Sometimes he would check in and ask if I really needed it, but never argued with me when I said yes. I knew what he was doing by the way he packed. He was planning on never letting me return here.

“I think I got everything. Though you don’t really have much.”

“What’s the point in having a load of stuff when you constantly move? Besides, we came here for this.” I throw the piece of paper at his feet. I kept it in the hole under the sofa and when he wasn’t looking, I managed to fish it out.

He frowns as his purple eyes fall on it and picks it up. Carefully unfolding the crumpled, coffee stained paper, he stares at it, not speaking a single word. I knew it word for word though, I had sp

Logan’s POVI should have seen it coming. The moment I walked into my hotel, I knew something wasn’t right. The lights were off, my receptionist missing. The place was normally busy. I should have turned around and walked straight back out.Instead my curiosity got the better of me and I move around the first floor. Nothing seemed out of place other than my missing receptionist. Flicking the lights on, I walked into my office, trying to figure out what was going on. I didn’t want to be long.Something was thrown at me. Wolfsbane. It caught in my throat as I inhaled. Laughter surrounded me, a female voice announcing that it was too easy. They may think it’s easy but wolfsbane does not affect me in the same way as it does other wolves. It blocked my ability to link my pack, it made me weak but only for a few hours, almost powerless, but it wouldn’t kill me. I didn’t need the antidote like other wolves. Though these people clearly believed that it would work.Letting them believe it wor

Lana’s POV“Lana, you cannot change who you are.” My so-called mother was trying to tell me that I was part witch.“You’re wrong. There is nothing witchy about me and as much as I hate to say it, I am a wolf.” I look at Sam and Caleb, “Wouldn’t they be mixed too if that was the case?”“It…I know what you are Lana. You showed me how you could control things the moment you were born.”“If I was a witch, I would be pretty certain that I would know about it by now.”Kendras eyes are laser focussed on me, her lips pressed together, her jaw clenched as her nostrils flare.“Why won’t you believe anything that I say?” she snaps and I see Liam grab a hold of her wrist.“Why should I, when you abandoned me!”“If I abandoned you, why would I have fought for so long to find you.”“To cover up your lies!” I still had the note she had left with me as a baby. Pulling it out my pocket, I threw it at her, trying to ignore the crushing pain in my chest. She frantically grabs it and doesn’t even look at

Lana’s POV“It doesn’t make any sense. Logan said the witches were after you. Why would they take him and not you?”I shrug my shoulders at Sam. How was I supposed to have all the answers?“Let’s just see what we can find.”As we walk through the lobby to the reception, Sam let out a groan. It took me a moment to realise that he was staring at the human receptionist. She was smiling in our direction, correction, she was smiling at Sam.“Hey cutie.” she murmurs at him, still not registering me.“Hi Daisy. Logan just sent me to pick up a few things, is it alright if we go through?”She flutters her eyelashes at him, “You want me to come with you?”“Uh, no. I was talking about me and my sister.” Daisy’s face drops as soon as she sees me. I half wondered if she remembered me. I didn’t care either way.“Mr Lonecrown hasn’t been in for a couple of days,” she shifts her focus back to Sam.“He wasn’t here yesterday?”“No, not that I am aware of. Logan’s POVThey put me in a dungeon and bound me in chains. They knew I was stronger than the average wolf, but they were unaware how strong. Chains bound my wrists and ankles, as they locked me to the wall. They draped chains around my neck too, trying to weigh me down, trying to break me.Darkness filled the dungeon, there wasn’t even a tiny bit of light unless they came with flame torches. The witches tried constantly to get in my head, the same way as I would have done to them but I had years of practice. There was no possible way that they would get in my head. I had learnt from one of the best witches I knew. My only concern was Lana. She filled my head every waking moment, but I had to keep her hidden. They couldn’t find her, they couldn’t know that I could link her, they couldn't know anything about her. Fuck, she was growing on me.A whip slams against my back, the wolfsbane searing my skin, blood trickles down me as the Rogue demands answers.Years I had kept my identity

How had she heard the footsteps too? They barely made a sound. Not enough for her too hear.“I have to go, but take this!” She pulls something from inside her cloak and places it in my hand. I could tell by the shape that it was some sort of small blade, maybe a pocket knife? With my arms above me, I wasn’t in the greatest of positions to see it.“Who…” She had gone. The Rogue appears seconds later, carrying a much thinner whip than before. He was clearly expecting to do more damage this time around. Closing my eyes, I wrap my fingers tightly around the blade. I may not be able to use it yet, but I might be able to conceal it.“Made a decision?” he growls, the light from the torch castin

The pain had been horrible and if Abby hadn’t found me, I would be dead. Logan was going to die and I would too.“Lana, you have to calm down. Logan isn’t going to die.”“It’s wolfsbane, he told me himself.”“And like I told you, wolfsbane works differently on him.”“How, he is a wolf?!”“Yes, but at the same time, he is a higher being. I don’t even know if he has actually uncovered all his gifts.”“What is that supposed to mean?”“He is stronger than the rest of us, quicker than us, quicker to learn. The guy can control minds, not just enter them. I think he was maybe eight when he killed my uncle. Who knows what the man is capable of.”“He killed at that age?”My adopted dad had always said wolves were murdering beasts but on some level, I never believed him, well, not until Abby and I started killing wolves. Lana you idiot, Lana is my half sister.”Kendra didn’t have any more children other than the boys, surely she couldn’t mean Gunnar? This Freya seemed younger than Lana, but these days it was getting harder and harder to tell the ages of women.“Lana” she mutters again but her head snaps around at a noise in the forest. “We have to move!” Her small hand wraps around my wrist as she tugs me forward.“Stop. That was what he was concerned with?“I shifted.”“At least that settles one thing!” I wasn’t sure what it meant, I wasn’t sure if maybe he was delirious from the wolfsbane but he continued to hold me, my chest pressed against his, our breath’s falling in time with one another.“Where are we?”The woman had hit me over the head with something and the moment I fell to the floor, they had me tied up in the same way as Logan.“Shifters got us!” “You mean half breeds?” I remembered what he said back in my apartment

One year laterLana’s POVI never heard from Blake after that day. It was impossible for him to link me after I broke the bond between us. But it didn’t stop his wolves trying to locate me.For the first six months, it even made the news. That there was a new Alpha of Alpha’s. They gave my name and description, promising a reward if I was returned to them. But as time went on, my appearance on the news became less and less. The humans were losing interest. I was never spotted. I had had my hair permanently relaxed so I didn’t have to deal with the curls. I wore shades when it was sunny or brown contacts when the weather was rubbish. If I went out, I never went out alone. I was always with Dillon. A human. It had taken a couple of months before we officially became a couple. Though that didn’t stop us fooling around before then. Not once did I feel pressured with him. Not once did I feel like he was hiding something. He never hesitated to answer a question. He was different, he wasn’t

That you didn’t understand pack life. But you really can’t see what is right in front of you.” He pulls open the jeeps door, grabbing my hand, he places it on his chest. Just like Blake, he had no heartbeat.“How?” I mutter“We are all the same. Anyone that is under Blakes leadership ends up like us.”“Why would you follow him?” “Because it’s always too late. By the time we realise, there is no turning back.”“I don’t get it?”“Holy shit, Lana.” He shakes his head at me. “Are you just not willing to see it, is that it?”“See what? Blake said he made a deal.”“And you didn’t think to question it. He is the reason you killed Logan. He is the reason you chose him. He is the reason for everything.”“Why?”“Becau

Lana’s POVLogan leans into me, gasping for breath. The Blade slips further into his heart. I couldn’t believe that I had done it. That I was the one to kill him. That I was the one to finally stop him.Xavier had told Blake that I was in the back of the car. Blake had talked me through the plan. He made it clear that I could not speak back to him. That if I were, it would give me away. That Logan would know.He told me that they were tracking me, that I would have to take a chance and throw myself from the car. I did exactly what I was told. The moment my feet hit the ground, I run into the forest. Logan had been steps behind me. If he had lunged forward, he probably would have got me. But Blake somehow pulls me away. Lifting my feet off the ground as he placed a hand over my mouth. He wasn’t alone. I could just make out Xavier and Abby hiding among the trees. Abby's eyes were looking in the direction I had just come from. Her lips moving. As Blake hands me the dagger. I felt the sa

Logan’s POVShe had given herself to him. I could smell his stench all over her as I held her close. But she would be mine again soon enough. She doesn’t scream, she doesn’t fight me, even when I pin her against the door. She doesn’t even try to link Blake. In fact she does everything that I ask. Pulling her out of the window, I drop us to the ground. Checking that we were entirely alone before heading into the forest.Blakes men were stupid. They were easy enough to get past undetected. It helped that Lana followed me like a sheep. That she did everything I asked.Pushing her into the back seats of my hidden jeep, she still remains quiet. There was no heavy breathing, there weren’t even any tears. She looks back over her shoulder as I drive away from the new pack that Blake had created.“Don’t you dare link him.” I warn her. If she had already done so, there would be no chance that I would get out of the pack grounds alive. Her head moves up and down. Her brown eyes wide as they lo

It was the only answer as to why he was so angry.“I don’t want to see Freya. I want to know what the vision means. I know you saw it too.”“It’s you.” He takes a step back. “It was never Logan. It was always you.”“I don’t know what you mean!” I did though. He had seen it as clearly as I had. The dead bodies piled up underneath me. The blood that was streaked across my face. How he and Logan were both looking up to me.“You know exactly what I mean Lana. Don’t try and play the fool now.”“I’m not… I…” I had no idea what to say and sit myself back down in his office chair. “I would never.”“Wouldn’t you? It’s not like you are sin free is it? You have killed wolves in your bid to find him. Your aim was to stop him.”“I didn’t, that was Abby. I was just… just there. I don’t want to do that. She didn't normally speak to me unless Calvin or Lana were around.“Yes, I’m just retrieving some clothes for her.”Her frown deepens until her brows suddenly shoot upwards, a big smile on her face. “Could you just tell Lana that I need to speak to her, like urgently.”“Is there a problem?”“Not exactly. Maybe, I guess. Nothing to do with Logan or anything thats happening.”She spins around and I catch the extra scent on her. She was pregnant.“You want me to tell Lana that you’re pregnant?”She turns back to me. Her eyes wide. “How did you know?”“I’m not stupid, your scent has altered to accommodate the hormones.”“I know you don’t like me Alpha Blake, this wasn’t supposed to happen. A smile spread across her face. “Lana, he screwed up.”“What do you mean, witch?” Blake spits on the ground. Clenching his teeth together.“That mark. He was supposed to confirm it. Kendra put it on you when she saw his mark. She used his blood to form a bond between you. Replicating his mark.”“Kendra? Lana’s POVThere were talks every day. Some that I was shielded from, others where they encouraged me to talk. But I never had anything to say. Other than feeling like my head was going to explode.Blake was growing more and more pissed off when no one could come up with a plan. What Blake wanted to do was use me. I had agreed to it. But so many of the pack hated the idea. They thought that I would turn on them, or that Logan would use me to get exactly what he wanted. It didn’t help that Logan continued to call to me. He seemed to think that he could talk to me whenever he wanted. It was impossible for me to block him. He would never ask me how I was. It was always questioning me about Blakes plans. When I didn’t answer, he would grow mad and cut me off. And for a moment, I would find relief. He was choosing the Blood Pack over me.I had stopped trying to fight it or trying to hide it. But there wasn’t even a single piece of evidence that suggested he had returned home or that he had come anywhere near my pack.Lana wasn’t herself either. She would wander the house. Often deep in thought. I tried to talk to her but it was like talking to a brick wall. Anything that I said just didn’t sink in. Sometimes I would find her in a corner, muttering to Freya. They would stop talking the moment they saw me.I didn’t like the witch being here, but I had very little choice in the matter. Calvin had already marked the witch. If I threw her out, then I would have problems with my brother and Lana. It was a shitty scenario that I was trying my hardest to ignore. Aiming to focus on the bigger problem of Logan.More and more of my pack from Europe turned up everyday. New homes were constantly being built on the land. It was expanding quickly, but
