|| ELINDA's POV ||
His rejection tore my heart into pieces. Another howl built from the pit of my stomach. My eighteen-year-old heart couldn't take the pain of rejection.
Alexis paused in his tracks, his face staying indifferent. He didn't show any remorse or pity on me. I asked again in a whisper, the voices on my back seeming non-existent,
" Why...??"
We were an example of a perfect couple. I had never disrespected him or disobeyed him in any way. Even I didn't do anything that could upset him. We barely had any quarrel and I naively believed that it was love which reconciled us.
Alexis breathed his words out slowly,
" You don't deserve me."
That statement went deep into my heart. He believed that I wasn't worthy of him? Then what about the times when he saved me from the school bullies?
Memories of the past began to play in my mind. When I was just a newbie in school, I encountered many bullies. No one had ever protected me except him. It was he who stepped in and pulled me out.
How could he do this to me now?
A bitter smile curved my lips when my eyes landed on his SUV. Indeed I didn't deserve him. He was a rich heir with plenty of wealth and a reputation. He was the son of the Alpha while I was a poor Omega who just got her wolf. How could we be compatible?
I was raised in foster care until a family adopted me. Everyone in my foster care told me that I was abandoned as a child. When my parents didn't want me, how could I expect someone else to accept this poor soul of mine?
I held my tears back. My friend Bella rushed to me, helping me to stand up from the ground. The birthday dress was ruined but I could care less. When my eyes met Alexis again, I only saw a cold, ruthless Alpha standing. That boyfriend who slept with me when I was scared was gone. I didn't want to hold onto something by force. I forced a smile on my face, and replied bitterly,
" That's.. right..I..I am not worthy of you, Leonid. So..this is my decision."
Alexis stiffened at my words but said nothing. I continued, forcing my tears to stay reserved,
" I, ELINDA WATSON ACCEPT YOUR REJECTION. Leonid, you are free from every bond and memory that we share."
Alexis turned around without a single word, his feet heading straight for his car. As soon as he stepped on the wheel, I broke down into tears, Bella rubbing my back as they whispered about our rejection.

" Hush! Don't cry, baby. You will get sick."
My mother patted my back. I had been crying since yesterday after Alexis rejected me. My heart was broken and shattered into pieces. I didn't think that I had the strength to cry anymore. I just laid numbly on my bed.
I appreciated my parents. They took a day's leave after they heard from Bella what had happened to me. Everyone had heard about our rejection. Some of them even said that I deserved it since I was a low-class omega with no background.
I muttered to my mother with a weak smile, and didn't want them to be stressed about me,
" I would be fine, mother. Please, don't stop your work for me."
Mom had been telling me that I was still young and Moon Goddess wouldn't be so cruel as to gift me a second mate. But I didn't think that I had the heart to accept love anymore. All my romantic feelings had died with the rejection.
I parted my lips to speak when my father suddenly burst into the room. His face was shaded with horror as he watched me with calculative eyes. My mother confronted him, getting on her feet,
" Dany, stop freaking her out. She is already upset."
My favorite held the door open, his voice quivering as he spoke to us,
" There's.. people downstairs. They..they are saying that they..are looking for Elinda. It seems like.. like..."
He paused abruptly, his expression turning pale. I urged, wondering who had bothered to visit me since my rejection brought peace to many fan girls of Alexis,
" Who?"
My father breathed one word out, his lips trembling,
" Your..your.. family..."
My chest was tight and in shock and excitement. I had always been told that I had no family since I was being abandoned on the street. The loud thump of my heart was becoming so clear that I couldn't focus on anything else.
Before I could say something, heavy sounds of boots echoed from the stairs. We waited until a group of red uniformed soldiers appeared in my tiny room. They were so big, tall, and masculine that my room felt tiny in their presence. The tallest one in the front locked his eyes with me. Surprise flickered in his eyes as he muttered something in the Russian language. I hardly understood it but the shock was evident in their eyes.
Then the leading man did something surprising. He knelt on his leg in front of me, one of his fists resting over his heart. He spoke English in his Russian accent, sounding funny yet firm,
" At your service, Princess. It is such an honor that we have found you finally. The Royal family has been waiting for your arrival for 18 years."
My parent's mouth fell open in shock. I was stunned at the same time and muttered awkwardly, getting off my bed,
" Sir, you must be mistaken. I was found on the street."
The leading man spoke with certainty, still on his knees,
" There is no doubt or mistake, Princess. Your green eyes are the epitome of proof that you are the missing princess of the Vasiliev Dynasty. Your family waits for you."

|| ALEXIS's POV ||
" Why don't you look so happy? You are going to be the youngest Don of the Bravta Lycans."
Jimmy, my grandfather's assistant tapped on my shoulders, snapping me out of the memories that I was living in Costa Rica.
Happy? I was numb inside.
My father's words rang in my brain. If I wanted to be the Don of Lycan Mafia, I had to remove my weakness. With time, Elinda became my weakness. It wasn't my choice to fall in love with her. I had made a bet with my cousin who was so confident that someone like Elinda wouldn't fall in love with me. I was so serious about the bet that I took it personally and made progress with Elinda.
I wouldn't lie about the fact that I enjoyed her company and maybe I liked her. I didn't want to end our relationship after the bet ended until the whole Don thing came up. It turned worse when Elinda turned out to be my fated mate.
Fuck! She was an omega!
She stood no chance among the bravta Lycans Mafia group. I had to reject her after considering the situation. I didn't think that it would hurt much but her crying face would be imprinted in my memory forever. But for some unknown reason, I wasn't feeling happy about the coronation ceremony of mine. As the only heir, I was going to sit in the Don position, the most powerful position in the Bravta Lycans. I felt everything except happiness.
Was I too involved in Elinda?
The car pulled in front of the mansion which was no less than a palace. Jimmy got down first and opened the door for me, around forty people standing outside for me. All of them bent their heads down at my arrival. They muttered in unison as destiny waited for me,
" WELCOME TO YOUR REIGN, DON."
Chapter 161 || CLARA'S POV ||For the very first time ever since I had met him, Mikhail looked afraid of me.He wasn't shouting. He wasn't even smirking that he always did whenever I attempted to stand my ground against him. He was just standing there—completely shocked—his eyes locked with mine, opened in something between horror and fear. The sheen of the spell I'd cast hovered on the air, shimmering like dust caught in the moonlight, and I could feel the energy still lingering in my fingers. My heart was racing, and my breathing was harsh, but I wasn't trembling anymore. Not because I was afraid, anyway."Mikhail…" I said his name, reaching out instinctively. He jerked away.I let my hand go immediately and turned my face aside, blushing. "I didn't want it to happen like this," I murmured. "I didn't want you to find out like this."He didn't say anything. Not at first. Finally, he gasped in sharply and spoke, low and exhausted. "What was, Clara?"I hesitated. How could I possibly
Chapter 160|| CLARA'S POV ||I wanted answers. I needed to know the truth that Mikhail had concealed behind his well-rehearsed smiles and open hugs.It was not bravery that brought me here. It was desperation. After what Elinda had shown me—after watching Alexis almost broken by the same game—I knew that this was my turn. Whatever affection Mikhail ever had, it was not real. I was caught in the middle, strategically placed and used as soon as I was no longer useful. But if I could understand the game that he was playing, perhaps I might survive. Perhaps, just maybe, I could finish it out.I slid into the library like a specter. The high doors groaned softly as I opened them, and for an awful instant, I thought someone might have heard. But there was nothing. Silence. The library was gigantic—row after row of towering bookshelves, wheeled ladders, and dusty tomes propped on pedestals like they were artifacts of gods long forgotten.I stopped in the doorway, taking in the scents of scu
Chapter 159 || Elinda's POV ||By the time I woke up, the world beyond me was distant. I was not in pain. I was not angry. I was not anything. I simply lay there on the bed, staring blankly at the canopy overhead, not blinking, not moving. I did not know how long I had been there—hours, maybe longer. Time had dissolved into silence.Everything inside me felt hollow.Alberto sat beside me, his body tense, his fingers tapping nervously against the edge of the bed. He had been waiting. He hadn't stirred, not for a moment. I could feel the weight of his concern, the unspoken blame that hung on him like a second layer of skin."Elinda," he whispered, his voice barely audible and full of caution, as though he feared I would break. "Are you… are you all right?"I didn't answer. I blinked but had no words to summon. What could be said? That my soul was scorched? That my chest had been sliced open and packed with ashes? He inclined forward slightly. "Talk to me. You haven't said a word since
Chapter 158|| ALEXIS’S POV ||My wedding morning began in silence—an unnatural, eerie silence that seemed to wrap itself around my chest like a shroud. I stood before the tall, arched window of my chamber.I should have felt something joy.But I felt nothing. Nothing but hollow emptiness, as if my heart had lost.I went to wed Lysa today. Not because I cared for her.Not because I had selected her.But because I had no other choice. The entire manor buzzed with anticipation. I heard the activity of servants rushing to and fro, decorating the courtyard with gold ribbons and white roses—Lysa's favorites. My pack of warriors stood outside in their shining armor, ready to serve their Alpha's wedding. Guests had begun arriving early morning, councilmen and nobles alike, all dressed elaborately in ceremonial robes, their faces aglow with wonder and forced smiles. They were here to witness the union, not the love. But all I could do… was think of her.Elinda.Even if the world forgot her, I c
Chapter-157|| Elinda's POV ||The evening lay heavy as I stood before the healer's hut, the burden of my decision settling deep into my own bones. The wind whipped.I had been living with this for years—the wolf that lay within me, the constant summons of the moon that left me alive for an instant and completely beyond control the next. The pain of the change, the hunger for blood, the rage—it had never been so easy to handle. The connections I had made, the people I had loved, all of them had been tainted by my curse. By this curse. And now I too far gone, in misery myself, too shattered even to attempt anymore.I had attempted, I promise. I had attempted to live for them—Alberto, my family, my friends—but the more I gave, the more I lost. I had nothing. No strength to fight the monster inside me, no hope to cling to. My loyal friend had been the wolf, but now I was learning to regard it as an enemy. And I knew that I should never be free unless I severed the tie between us for all t
Chapter 156|| Clara's POV ||After the experience with the old woman, my mind was a tangled mess, each strand pulling in a different direction. I had learned so much in such a brief period, but it had only served to confuse me more about the world of my being. I had always known that I was different, something that I could not ever understand, but now it appeared that the truth was a great deal more involved than I could have ever imagined.I needed answers, and there was only one individual who could offer them to me. The ex-beta. Elias. He was a person who had been around me as far back as my childhood, a person that I trusted with my life.
