The alarm clock beeped.
A brunette stirred lazily on the bed. She tried to find the snooze button all to no avail.
She clenched her hand into a fist and knocked the alarm clock away from her bedside table, sending it up in the air and crashing into her room's wall, making a big dent and destroying the alarm clock along with it.
Suzanne turned to her other side to resume her sleep.
This was Herotapolis, where the heroes lived.
In this city there lived real, breathing heroes. You could tell already by the name of the city right?
Hero League was an organization that pooled together normal people and trained them to become heroes. From chasing of bank robbers to extinguishing of fires in burning buildings, to serving as body guards to important people as well as getting stranded animals down from trees, or odd places, the heroes were ever availa
'Listen to your trainer Suzanne,' her Dad advised sternly. 'And pay attention....you know the slightest things distracts you.''And bore you,' Mum added.Suzanne let her spoon down a little firmer than usual. 'Um...can we not do this...? I'm trying to eat and if I don't eat I could run late on my first day.'Her twin brother laughed from the living room. 'You mean they shouldn't lecture you on being a complete failure and disappointment?'Suzanne clenched her teeth. 'Shut up Shane,' she growled.Well in a mild way it was true.'You know what? I'm off. It's not a crime to turn in early,' she stood up and headed o
'Your dad's dropping you off Andrew,' his mum said from the doorway of his room.Andrew, busy with coding on his laptop, didn't turn to acknowledge her as he remained seated at his desk.'I don't need a ride,' he replied not looking back once.'Whether you need it or not is no one's business....be down in ten minutes!' his mum ordered and stormed off, her perfume wafting after her as she left.He groaned. Guess my coding can wait till later. He thought as he shut down his laptop. While the robots he invented got his things ready he looked out the window.A brunette was marching down the streets when she suddenly slipped on her shoe lace.He face palmed himself, such a klutz.., he scoffed. He recognized her all right. They attended classes together in Milton High. If it wasn't for the scholarship, hero-wannabes like her could never get in.He looked
Ryan blasted electricity through his hands gadget again. The training holograms faded away.He smirked. He had beaten his high score again.'Bravo Master Ryan,' his butler nodded curtly from the training room doorway. 'What is it Greg?' Ryan asked.Greg was not bothered by the cold tone, he was rather used to it. 'Your ride is waiting downstairs if you please.' Ryan still continued practicing. 'What's my agenda today?' he asked without stopping what he was doing. The whole room got shaken by an electric current.'Well sire, you have an appointment with the hero league management in Superhero high,' Greg disclosed. 'In another term, a school.'Ryan stopped. 'I see,' he finally said.'Prepare my usual coffee and I shall have it picked up downstairs,' he instructed. Greg nodded curtly. 'Very well Master Ryan.'
Suzanne entered the bus provided by the hero league. It was filled with people she knew...well most of them were are classmates. It was calming to see a few familiar faces.'Who would have thought Suzanne would make the cut?!' a loud girly voice snickered.Scratch that familiar-faces-thought for a second.Suzanne turned slowly and came face to face with her worst nightmare.Annabelle.Seated on the row next to hers.'Annabelle,' she regarded coolly. Annabelle snorted. 'I thought I had gotten rid of you when it was time to submit our application forms.'Suzanne clenched her fists.Annabelle had played a nasty trick on her during the period of the submission of their application forms to the hero league schools. The representatives were already running out of pati
Once the bus arrived she rushed out.'Hey Suzanne! Hold on a sec!' Justin was saying, trying to quickly get out but his bag strap which was hooked to a random iron. Other people got out too.Annabelle snickered as she passed Justin, who was trying to untangle himself. He scowled at her, annoyed. Yes, she was truly mean.~~~Suzanne stood at the entrance, hesitant and unsure. She didn't realize it earlier but everyone right from the bus had on a certain color of uniform. Why hadn't she been given one?She took a deep breath and stepped into the gigantic crystal building dazzling in the warmth of the morning sun. It was quite huge and there was no other settlement in sight.Just a lot of different training grounds and other buildings belonging to the hero league.Suzanne took in a deep breath. This is it! She thought pr
As she crouched there bemoaning her fate, someone who was running tripped on her, causing them both to tumble on the floor.'Hey!' she cried. The guy huffed as he dusted himself. 'What were you doing back there, weirdo?!' he fired at her angrily.Suzanne looked the other way as she humph-ed at him.'I was thinking like a normal person when you came rushing like an animal--- Hey!' she faced him. 'What did you just call me fatso?!' Suzanne scoffed as she dusted herself.Ethan huffed again. Girls were nothing but a bother!'Fatso?! You're so dumb! The puff is from the armored suit I'm wearing.''Say what you want fatso,' she replied.Ethan fired her a nasty look. He looked away proudly. 'Anyway I don't have time for the likes of you. I'm a Slad now, so that means you're looking at one of the super gre
Lots and lots of strange faces. She felt like a little fish in a big pond, luckily she sighted Justin the guy from earlier. And he had not been unfriendly.'Hey Suzanne!' he waved at her. She stood by him. 'Hey! What's going on?' she asked. He smiled. 'Nothing much. The instructor was just briefing us on the rules of this place and explaining the different rankings of a hero. And Slads like us too. Besides where'd you run off to?' he asked.Suzanne scratched her head. 'Umn....Sorry I kinda got mixed up in all the excitement of arriving here. I guess I just kind of ran off.' Justin laughed warmly.'No worries. Besides what did you do to that blondie over there? The girl from the bus?' he pointed discreetly so she wouldn't see him. 'She's been glaring at you every two minutes since you ran in.'Suzanne had a good idea of who it might be.'Does she o
This was a huge mistake. Suzanne's feet refused to move.'O'Izzy please join your team mates,' the instructor told her, a bit annoyed. 'Um....you're...you're sure those are my er ....squad?' Suzanne asked uncertainly. He looked quite irritated now.Andrew scoffed, not looking up from his book. Ryan didn't even glance at her or look in her direction. Only Ethan waved. 'Oy! Over here!''That, O'Izzy is your squad for sure now stop asking rather dumb questions!' the instructor replied sternly and stopped what he was doing briefly to focus his undivided attention on her.Suzanne gulped. 'Kay,' in a small voice, noticing that every one was now staring at her. She felt several jealous eyes of the other girls piercing her as she remained rooted to the spot. She walked towards them and it seemed like slow motion as she moved. She fina

Suzanne yawned as she got off her bed.It had been a week since the E-rank exam. Their E-rank crest had been given to Coach Gwen but she said they had one final minor test to take before they were given their final E-ranks and then they'll meet their M.D corp three days after.Suzanne got her brush and combed her hair.Ryan was discharged the previous day so she knew he would be present today. She smiled at the thought. She had to look her best today. She got out her ribbon and packed her hair in a neat pony tail. She decorated her hair with her accessories.'Wassup, loser,' Shane leaned on her door post.'Hey Shane,' She decided to start ignoring the loser stuff ever since she heard that Shane had followed the guards that were taking Kyle away to give him a big talking to then he had landed a punch...or had attempted to at least.'Andrew's
'The judges have decided that Kyle Quole will be scratched out of the hero-league program due to the behavior he exibited today. But this decision shouldn't affect squad 12 so they shall be assigned a new Slad to join their group. Marissa Cartwell,' the Tifex said.'She has all her complete points and therefore can not be a hinderance to the team,' he concluded on that matter.'Suzanne O'Izzy, the judges have decided you are granted a win due to the situation on ground. Hence your battle with Kyle is crowned with you as the winner,' he stated.Suzanne couldn't stop her wide grin. Man, was she lucky!'And since Ryan Ziantez and Caleb Marsh had been shot, both will be given a pass too, however Andrew Frankstin and Lucas Will who remains standing will have the last battle. Their battle shall hold and the total counting shall rest on their shoulders.'The Tifex announced.
The crowd watched in open mouthed amazement.'Jesus, please help Suzanne,' Aiden prayed silently, his head bowed. It was the only thing he could do.Kevin glanced at him before facing the ring again. 'You sure are a terrible CIN, Aiden,' Kevin chuckled. 'I'm sure when CIN Rodrick was your age, he sure did a better job.'Aiden rolled his eyes.Suzanne yelped as a bullet whizzed past her.'He has a gun!' she shrieked, cowing on the spot. The comentator didn't know what to say. In all his years of moderating in contests, this was the first time someone wasn't fighting back.Shane watched as his twin ran around the ring while her bulky opponent, who was assigned to face her, fired off flames from the second gun he held.'Stay still!' Kyle hissed at her as he pursued her.
The noise of the crowd had quietened down. Now most eyes, if not all, were on the Squads that stood in a straight line assembled below. The Tifex moved about as he addressed the audience and the Slads.'Here are the instructions, listen up because I'm going to say this only once and that's it.' The Tifex said to the squads. He gestured to the field.'Over there, behind those red lines, the different squads facing each other will stand. But note, one person faces off only a person from the other team. And the match between the two will last for just a minute. The person that remains standing after the one minute time laspe will be the winner.'He looked back at the judges and nodded stiffly.'Since there are four members in each team, each team member will face the person he's facing opposite on the other line. If the time is up a
The squads that passed the first round were all assembled on a straight line and were made to face the panel that came from the headquarters. At their right was a battle ground with red lines marked close to the end of both sides, leaving a vast amount of space for dueling in the middle. A Tifex stood in the middle of the mini-field to act as a referee for the contestants. At the four corners of the huge wall, lots of seats were raised on a higher podium so as to prevent the fighters from reaching the onlookers.Defense mechanism shields were also put up in a form of glass around the places the audience would seat.Hence it was assured to be a safe match. The audience could easily watch the match below them without any worry of being injured by the fighters. The judges had a separate seat from everyone else. The CINs' seats were some feet behind the judges
Andrew stopped using his laptop and looked up. It all makes sense now. He thought. He then snorted as he looked past Ryan who gave him a puzzled expression which was ignored. Andrew stood up and headed for the door. He walked ten feet away from it and stopped, a frown of concentration was deeply etched on his face.'What are you doing?' Ryan asked with mild interest. Andrew continued to ignore him.Andrew bent down and felt the ground. 'Just as I thought,' he muttered to himself.'What is it Andrew?' Ryan asked again. He walked up to Andrew's side.Just then Suzanne and Ethan ran up to them, breathless.'Where's the package?' Ryan asked them both, extending a hand towards them swiftly. Ethan shrugged and raked his hand through his hair. 'We don't have it. We didn't see anything.'Ryan's gaze hardened as he appraised Ethan and Suzanne coldly.
'How are we going to find anything in this vast land?' Ryan wondered aloud.Andrew was deep in thought too.'And the others must not find our package! It's an impossible task!' Suzanne wailed.Ethan cupped his hands over both his eyes like a binocular. 'I can't even see the end of this land....,' he whistled. 'Then there's the forest and mountains. Quite an impossible task, I'll say,' he concluded warily.Andrew paced around, deep in thought. An hour is hardly enough for searching. We could search for months and not find it....there's more to it than this. He continued thinking hard.We are allowed to find other Squads' packages...that must mean something. Andrew got out his laptop and started working on it.'We are doomed! Doomed I tell you!' Suzanne stamped her foot on the ground. The ground shook everytime she brought her leg down. 'Doomed
Suzanne shuffled from one feet to the other nervously. Aiden had picked them all up so that no one would turn up late. They all stood at the entrance of the extremely large hall of Super Hero High.Aiden flashed his ID card for the perusal of the guards that were stationed at the backstage entrance for only the contestants. They turned and entered. A small table was at the entrance of the main hall. That room led to various sections and other compartments of the hall but all entrances had a guard beside them. They had to check in with one of the Tifex. Those are the instructions that are in charge of every examination. The main room was beginning to get filled up as more squads trooped in with their CINs.A Tifex headed towards them.'I'm Silverstin. The CIN of squad 10. We've registered since two days ago,' Aiden told him. The r
