Phoenix’s POV
It’s already late night; I am here in my room, sitting on the bed. I am still scared when someone threatened me earlier through a phone call that he would kill mom and me.
I don’t know what’s his problem. Why did he kill my older brother?
The door in my room is not open right now, a few minutes later, my phone rang which meant someone was calling me, so I took it in my pocket and answered the phone call, “Hello,” I said to him.
“Miss me?” He sarcastically asked, which made me close my hands.
He is the one who called me earlier; it’s obvious he is using a device right now to change his voice to hide his identity.
“Who are you?!” I asked him; I want him to feel right now that I am tough, “What do you need from us?!” I asked again, so he laughed sarcastically.
“You don’t need to know who I am and my motive,” he said to me, then he took a deep breath and spoke, “What do you need to do is to find where I am,” he seriously said.
It cannot be happening! If he tries to hurt my mom, I will kill him, “Where are you?” I asked him.
“Under the bed,” he answered me, so he is targeting me! I tried to find something that I could use against the person who wanted to kill mom and me.
I saw a baseball bat beside the door, so I walked towards it and took it, “How can I be sure that you are not lying?” I asked him because I was ready to kill him!
“Why don’t you look,” he said sarcastically, so I put the phone on the loudspeaker, and I put it on the cabinet, then I walked towards my bed little by little.
At this moment, I am ready to die to kill him. I held the baseball bat firmly and looked under my bed, but I didn’t see someone hiding there, which made me breathe easier.
I took my phone to the cabinet, “Liar!” I angrily said. “Why don’t you tell me where you are? Are you afraid of what I may do to you?!” I said sarcastically to him.
He laughed upon hearing that, “I did not say I’m under your bed,” he said seriously to me; what did he mean?
Suddenly, I heard a noise from my mom’s room, and she screamed.
He is in my mom’s room, “Don’t kill my mom!” I angrily said to him, and I threw my phone on the bed. I quickly went outside of my mom’s room while holding a baseball bat.
I saw mom lying on the floor, she had a stab wound on her shoulder, and the killer was standing in front of her while holding a knife.
He is wearing a white mask and jacket that has a hood. He was looking at mom, so he did not see me.
A minute later, he was about to stab mom using the knife he was holding, so I quickly entered the room and hit him with a baseball bat on his back that made him weak.
He stood up and pushed me on the wall. I did not manage to move when he ran towards me and pointed a knife on my neck, “Go ahead and move!” He threatened me. I know that he is using a device right now to change his voice to hide his identity; he is also wearing a mask, so he cannot be recognized.
“What do you want?!” I asked irritably, so he choked me.
“I want to kill you,” he said frankly, and he touched the knife from my cheek down to my neck, “I am itching to kill you!” He angrily said to me, and it seems he became crazy.
I feel anytime he would kill me, his firm choke weakens me even more. I can’t breathe!
A few minutes later, I let go of the baseball bat I was holding. I cannot do anything now.
He was about to stab me on my neck using the knife, but he stopped when mom hit him with a baseball bat on his back, so I punched him on his face that made him let go of me.
Mom was about to hit him with a baseball bat again, but he left the room.
Mom and I left inside of the room, “I will catch him; I am sure he is still not far away from us,” I said to her.
I was about to leave, but mom stopped me, “No!” She said. I can feel right now that she is so worried about me, “We should just call the police, let them investigate what happened here,” she added.
What is her problem? I need to catch the culprit for him to be held accountable for what he did to my brother, “But mom—” I did not manage to continue speaking when she spoke.
“Your brother was now gone; I can’t lose you too,” she seriously said to me, then she took her phone in her pocket and called the police, “Hello, my son and I need your help,” she said to the person on the other line.
While she was explaining what happened to us, I looked at the stab wound in her shoulder. It has full of blood, but she doesn’t care about it. I should be the one who protected her, but earlier, the opposite happened; I could have died if she did not intervene when the killer tried to stab me.
I promise mom I’ll do everything to catch the person who killed my older brother.
Phoenix’s POV The policemen took mom to the hospital because her stab wound was a bit deep, while I was left in our home together with other cops who were investigating what happened earlier. It’s already late night, but cops are still investigating. I am sitting on the floor beside the door of my mom’s room, and a few minutes later, SPO2 Patrick Smith walked towards me, “The killer is not here anymore,” he said, so I closed my hands. I am not going to lie; I am so annoyed. I feel that the blood in my body is starting to go to my head, “What kind of cops are you; you cannot catch a criminal!” I irritably said to him. He did not speak upon hearing that. I am just telling the truth; until now, they are still not done solving my brother’s case! What kind of cops are they?! A minute later, detective S arrived; he was wearing a black-faceless mask, “We still have not arrested the culprit
Phoenix’s POV Sage and I are here in the swimming pool area of the school; every time our school joins swimming competitions, I practice here. I tried out swimming here because the school guaranteed me a scholarship, and the foods are free and vitamins. We are wearing swimwear, and the swimming pool here is like in the competition, “Whoever manage to go here first will win,” he said, “Are you ready to lose?” He sarcastically asked me. His arrogance will be gone once I win in swimming against him, “What stroke should we use?” I asked him. “Butterfly,” he answered me, and we looked at the swimming pool, and we ready ourselves to jump there, “At the count of three. One… Two… Three,” he said, and we both jumped in the pool. I swam towards the other side of the pool using the Butterfly stroke. I cannot lose to
Patrick’s POV I am here in Sage’s condo unit. I am sitting on the chair while he is on the sofa. At this moment, he is not wearing a mask, his real name is Sage Taylor, and right now, he is solving a white jigsaw puzzle on the small table. He is wearing eyeglasses. “What is your plan, Sage?” I asked him, “Why did you tell Phoenix your real name? You also confronted him in the flesh,” I added.
Athena’s POV When Juaqin left the bathroom while a towel was covering his nakedness, he walked towards me, “Hey, why are you crying?” He asked me. “I am scared Juaqin, what if they learn what happened!” I said to him, “What if they learn what we did—” I did not manage to continue speaking when he kissed me on my lips; he also wiped out the tears that fell from my eyes. “I promise, no one will know what happened,” he said to me, “I’ll also talk to Phoenix tomorrow, I’ll tell him to be quiet about what happened earlier,” he added, which made me breathe a little bit easier. I should not worry because I am sure he will do his best to hide our secret. …………………………………………………………………. Phoenix’s POV I am here in the classroom; I am sitting on the c
Athena’s POVI am here in the cafeteria; I am waiting for the return of Juaqin. He ordered our food earlier.I touched my tummy and smiled. I am so excited to tell Juaqin the great news.A few minutes later, Juaqin returned, and he put the food on the table, and he sat on the vacant chair, “Let’s eat,” he said to me.We started eating, “Babe, I have a surprise for you,” I said that made him smile.“What is it?” He asked me while eating, so I took a deep breath before talking.“I’m pregnant,” I whispered to him, so he stopped eating. I could see on his face that he was shocked.“Really?!” He asked me again. When I nodded, he jumped due to the happiness he felt. I calmed him down because some students were looking at us. Honestly, I felt so embarrassed when t
Athena’s POV I am here in the garden of Emannuel High School; I am sitting on the bench alone, Juaqin is absent right now, so I am alone. Phoenix and his friends are not talking to me. Well, they are so unlucky because I don’t care. A few minutes later, Sage walked towards me while holding an envelope, and he was wearing eyeglasses, “Why are you alone?” He asked me. “Why do you care?” I sarcastically asked him, so he smirked and sat beside me. “Where is Juaqin?” He asked me. Tsk! He should know that he is absent because he is my classmate. “Absent!” I said irritably to him, tsk! I was about to leave, but I stopped when he talked. “You know what, you should not act like that,” he said to me. What does he mean? “Why?” I asked irritably, which made him laugh sarcasti
Juaqin’s POV I left Athena’s house while carrying a knife I used to stab her mom, and I rode my car, then I drove it. While driving it, I suddenly remembered every single detail that happened in my life. Flashback When Monica and I were kids, our mom died due to a heart attack after she caught our dad kissing another woman. After that, he took care of us, and he and his other woman married, and they had two kids. They became a happy family, and my sister and I felt excluded from their happiness. Monica and I lived in a condo unit that mom bought for us. She was 19 years old at that time while I was 18’s. Dad still supported us by giving us money.
Athena’s POV It’s already 8:00 p.m., Juaqin and I are here in a restaurant, we are eating here every time before. “Why did you invite me to eat with you here?” I asked while eating, which made him smile, and he spoke. “Nothing, I just want to celebrate because we will be parents,” he answered me. A few minutes later, a waiter served us a bottle of wine, “Here’s your order, sir,” he said to Juaqin, and he put it on the table. “Thank you,” Juaqin said before the waiter left. He took the wine and poured it in my wine glass, “Have some,” he said. “Sure,” I said, and I took the wine glass and drank the wine. A few minutes later, he looked at me seriously and smirked, “Can I ask you a question?” I nodded in response, “Who is the father of your child?” He seriously asked me. “You—” I did not manage to continue speaking when my phone started to ring, which meant someone was calling me
