Chapter Eight

By 9:30 Alica and Sally were already heading out of the apartment . They boarded separate cabs Alicia to the appointment with Alexander Kings and Sally back to her apartment.

Alicia pulled up at the skyscraper office of Alexander Kings ten minutes to the time slated for her interview. She stilled her nerves , according to her reports and investigation contained in her journal ‘ how to bag a Billionaire” .

Alexander Kings is the top most and powerful bachelor Billionaire in the world and he is very intimidating with a reputation for being a no nonsense person Sally's HR plug must have pulled heavy strings to land her this interview considering her sparse work experience.

She walked through the automatic doors and approached the receptionist she noticed the environment was bustling with professionals moving in different directions it is a quite intimidating environment. “ Good morning ma'am ” , the middle aged woman smiled at her warmly “ morning dear , what can I do for you ?” .

Her smile set Alicia at ease a bit “ I have an interview with the CEO Alexander Kings for the position of his personal assistant my name is Alicia ” .

The woman typed at her apple computer obviously confirming what she had just said “ okay I can see , his office is on the top floor to your left , hurry you have three minutes left , he won't grant an interview if you're a second late ”. She handed her a visitor's pass .

“ Thank you ma'am” she took the pass and hurried to the elevator luckily she was the only one she knocked on the door marked CEO at exactly a minute to ten am .

“ Come in ” Alexander's deep smooth voice called . The door opened automatically it was then she realized it could only open on his command and there was a camera staring at her on the door .

She walked into the office and the decor screamed class , luxury and modern . Alexander Kings did not raise his head from the file he was reading .

“ Do you intend to stand there all day? , take a seat ” .Alicia sat ginger on a chair facing him , even with his head bent she couldn't but notice his powerful build and profound height even though he sat . His strong jaw, straight nose , full lips, thick brows ,and long lashes that framed his eyes.

“ Surely you're not dumb and can speak , or are you just here to watch . your Alicia vying for the role of my personal assistant I presume?”

“ Yes..yes sir ” she stuttered slightly . He raised his head locking eyes with Alicia . The depth of his eyes made her heart backflip the man was more impressive than any man she had ever seen in her life .

“ I have gone through your CV and I must confess it's very underwhelming , which is quite odd because you came highly recommended. I believe in giving everyone a chance but not a second chance so I'm open to hiring you . What makes you think you can handle this job considering you have little to no working experience”.

Alicia stilled her nerves and responded“ sir I am a fast learner , very punctual and dedicated to putting in my best in every and any role . I understand I have little work experience but I promise to do my best ” .

Alexander raised a brow inquisitively “ your best ? ” he said sarcastically “ that may not be enough but I'll give you a chance since you came recommended I'll hire you on probation and we'll talk about making you a full staff if I'm satisfied with your performance”.

Excitement swarm in her belly the thought of being close to the handsome intimidating man .“you won't regret giving me a chance ” . “ Time will tell , go to the HR department you'll be handed a temporary contract and given a work identity card . You report by 9 am every day except the weekends and one more thing I do not tolerate tardiness”.

“ Noted sir . Thank you for opportunity” Alexander Kings went back to the file he had been working on . “ Yea, see you tomorrow ” .

Alicia stood up and went out of the office to the Hr department , she was handed a contract she quickly skimmed through and signed . But one of the requirements amused her it read ‘ do not fall in love with your boss in the person of Alexander Kings . Always maintain a healthy personal space”.

Alicia huffed inaudibly thinking to herself yes he's hot but this seems quiet arrogant .

She signed and was given a access key and Identity card . She left the office feeling like a conqueror , she couldn't believe her luck her life was really looking up and each day brought her closer to her goal .

She walked a few blocks taking out her cell phone texting Sally that she got the job . When a car honked causing her to look up ,the tinted glass of the back seat came down and it was none other than Dimitri Valentino. “ Hello darling , what brings you around this area?”.

Before she could answer , he came come and ushered her into the car , once inside “ now tell me what you're doing here ? For a brief moment Alicia feared the man was onto her maybe some how he found about her plan but she quickly shook the thought off .

“ I had an interview at Skyline Incorporated and I got the role ” Dimitri looked at her with slight amusement.“you could have told me you're in search for a job , theres definitely a place for you at my company and I'll like to be in close proximity with you .what job role did you apply for ?”

“ Personal assistant to the CEO ” a look of possessive jealousy marked his face “ you'll be working closely with Alexander Kings? I won't hide my discomfort you're a beautiful woman and I don't want any other man having your time professional or not ”

Alicia's brain was turning trying to think of the most believable diplomatic way of handling the situation Dimitri would obviously not want her to take the job but she couldn't afford to put all her eggs in one basket and more than anything experience has taught her not to make herself too available for a man.
