41. THE PRACTICE

FREYA’S POV

I was still talking with Remy about how we can either deceive or confuse the maid at the next cleansing ceremony when the pain suddenly hit my chest again. It was harder this time and more painful than I had ever experienced.

My hands clutched to my chest in pain and he rushed to my side to help me stand to my feet. Over time, I had discovered that if I stay in the lying position, it would be less painful so I instructed him to take me to the bed.

I was expecting him to lead me by the hand and extended my hand when he carried me in a bridal style making me confused. I wanted to protested but a soft “It will do you no better to stress yourself” from him made me swallow my words.

He pestered me about seeing a doctor about it but I told him that it would go away soon on its own. After monitoring my condition for some time, he took his leave because I was already drifting to sleep which automatically lessened the pain.
