That asshole didn’t even give me a clue about where to meet him, like I’m a freaking mind reader! I had to work my ass off by asking almost every guard where i could meet their alpha and as expected, ninety nine percent of them ignored me, probably thought i was some fan girl fawning over their toxic leader but only one pointed me over in the right direction and i was currently standing outside the door of the small space. Taking in a deep breath, i drag my knuckles over the door and knock, once… twice…thri—

“Come.” His hard strict voice rustled through the door, stopping my knuckles mid air, i compose myself and pull the door stepping in. He was in a place that looked like a modern day office, a bookshelf behind, a wooden table and metal chair, a sofa for visitors. “You are late.” He says without looking up from the papers he’s currently going through and i furrow my brows at him.

“I wouldn’t have been if you would have just given me your danm location!” 

“You didn’t ask for it.” 

“That is because it’s the right thing to do, you kidnapped me here so it’s only common sense that I don’t know where your freaking study room is.” 

He finally looked up from his papers and at me, his eyes holding that warning look from earlier that makes me weak in the knees with fear, but i would rather die and let him know I’m scared of him. 

“Ask, and it shall be given to you, Cariño.” He pushes the papers aside and then focuses all his attention on me, i bite back the sarcastic words that linger down my throat, i made a mental note to myself to try and stay well behaved if i was in an empty space with Louis, heavens knows what he would be willing to use that opportunity for.

“About our arrangement… there has to be a change, Louis. I am staying here till your father gets better and trust me, the more i see your bitchy mate…” and you. i mumble in my mind but don’t say it out, not when it’s just the two of us in this room. “The more i want to just gawke my eyes out instead of seeing her more, i have changes of my own i want to make to the deal. First, I can’t live in your room for the rest of the months, i would love to find an apartment of my own in town.”

A flicker of Amusement flickered in his tone before it went all blank again. “Are you jealous, Vennetta?” 

“What?! No! Are you freaking kidding me!” I shrieked and his lips carved up in a smile, still a shock how all these was amusing to him. “I have a very handsome and capable boyfriend, why should i be jealous of someone that settles for less?” 

Now it was his time to snare and my time to smirk, it got to him, brutal anger filled his expression, i wonder why it did though, I wasn’t his mate and he never even liked me, it was all me withe crush, stupid me. When he didn’t say anything more, I continued with my changes for our deal. “First off, I can’t stay in this mansion, i feel locked up and i don’t like feeling that, partially because i was almost killed.”

“Are you sure that’s the reason, Cariño? Not that you are trying to avoid me.”

“If i succeed to avoid you in the process then that is a huge plus for me, Louis, you kidnapped me to treat your father and that’s exactly what i’m going to do.” 

“Mhhh…” he mumbled and I was hundred percent sure he wasn’t actually listening to me, paying attention to me, yes but listening? “Is there any other thing you want, your highness?” 

I searched for the sarcastic tone in his voice but it didn’t come, confusing! 

“I have to build a life for myself for as far as i an here, i have it thought through and i think i want to continue as a doctor.” 

“And why exactly would you like to do that?” He twisted his head to be a corner. He was the reason  i even began learning about being a doctor when i was still at the pack, but I wasn’t going to tell him that. 

“I just… feel like it would be wise to help people while I’m here, and I’m expertise in that field.” I brought my chin up and he looked around like he was considering it, this was the first normal conversation I’ve had with Louis since i came here, it seemed like this version of him, the Alpha work focused version was only fully worn in the walls of his personal work room. 

If he wasn’t such a big bully, then i would say I’m proud of how both our lives turned out, and even when it felt like I couldn’t live without him, i did. 

“My Beta would show you to one of our hospitals in the south side and give you a lot of money, you can start up something with that.” His attention left my face and back to the paper underneath his fingers, writing something on them. “You are to come back to the mansion to check on my father three times a week.” 

I wanted to argue, Mr kelvin only needed twice  a week but the fact that he even agreed with the rest was baffling and I wasn’t about to jinx it. “Fine.” 

“You will have bodyguards on your tail every fucking second of the day, Cariño. So if this request is because you want to find new ways go escape, kill it.” 

“Why can’t you believe for once that i am not heartless as you are, Louis? Unlike you, I actually have human feelings.” 

A low growl and his angry eyes on me this time gave me shivers. “Watch that mouth…”

Standing up from the chair, i all buy ran out of the office, well, I didn’t exactly run but you get the gist. 

A breath of relief escaping my throat immediately the wave of fresh air hit my face from outside. 

“I am here to show you your new work place, Miss.” a thick male voice came from the corner and a man was standing there, my attention turning to him, “i am Kai, The alpha’s beta.” 

He explained, like he understood my confused look and i gave him a smile and a swift nod, feeling more alive than i have since i came here, Immediately, a feeling of being watched crawled up my neck and I instantly turned backwards, I didn’t exactly see anyone, but the feeling had gone, could it have been Louis?
