Ask my grandfather

Before noon, Patrick Connor strolled over to see his friend. He hadn't been answering his phone that morning hence he decided to see him after lunch.

He got into the Lester conglomerate and Adrian had gone for a meeting. Clem told him that his friend will be through soon and he could feel relaxed in his office.

Patrick Connor agreed and waited. It wasn't quite ten minutes later, Adrian Lester walked in with hooded eyes. His secretary stepped in after him and carefully placed his computer on his desk.

His gaze was stone cold and he seemed to be unhappy. Patrick Connor had long gotten used to his friend's temperament. He just stared at him calmly.

Adrian Lester is an arrogant dude who believes things should be the way he wants it. He doesn't expect anything less from an only child who was raised with all love and affluence.

He'd always gotten what he wanted all his life. His parents dotes on him and his mom practically worships him. Why wouldn't he live that way?

But then, he is the one of the kindest people he'd ever met. Adrian has a good heart and knows how to love. If he picks interest in a person, he would ensure that the person radiates the aura of love and happiness.

“This is the second time I'm losing a multimillion dollar contract. And it's all grandfather's fault. He ruined my mood and everything went on getting ruined today…” Adrian seethed.

He already told his family about the contract and now, how can he inform them that a rival company got it instead of him?

“How?” Patrick Connor asked, sitting upright and staring at his friend. He hopes he's not talking about the Mayor's group partnership?

“I honestly cannot say exactly. I received an email that they regret to inform me that they are not going ahead with the partnership…” Adrian explained, hissing between gritted teeth and settling down into his swivel chair.

Patrick Connor was unhappy. Lester conglomerate used to be the largest conglomerate in New Jersey. If it continues like this, wouldn't they be losing their position and power?

“And it is to that bastard Sabastian Walker. How can I lose to him? Can you imagine that?” Adrian fumed in disapproval. Somehow he feels that bastard was trailing him and tries to sabotage his work.

It happened two years ago and now, it repeated itself. What the heck is going on? How can he lose to him, he would pursue that contract again and see if he can snatch it off him.

He was still thinking about that when Clem walked in and told him that his grandfather had prepared an anniversary date for him and Ava Leon.

“Get out!” Adrian Lester thundered and Clem bowed slightly and stepped out. Well, he's just doing his job. His grandfather wants him to deliver a message to him, and he just did.

“That's where the whole hassle came from. That miserable marriage that was forced down my throat. I will spit it out. In Fact, I am working towards it already…” Adrian Lester declared.

“Thread gently, Adrian. You might fall in love with Ava later” Patrick coaxed. He had known about this whole marriage thing for a long time and he wished it would turn out better for him and Ava eventually.

“I don't love her. I only want Lola” Adrian declared, writing down some things and sending it to his secretary to take action on it.

“For two years now, I haven't fallen in love with her. There can never be a chance for that besides, Lola is back and I am going legal with her this time” Adrian informed.

“What do you mean Legal? What about Ava Leon?” Patrick Connor asked in haste. This marriage wasn't Ava’s fault either. He shouldn't make her suffer more than she already does.

“I don't know anything about that woman. You can ask my grandfather if you need answers to your questions” Adrian snapped at him.

Patrick Connor was quiet. He has this feeling that Adrian will not be available to have a date with Ava. He doesn't regard her at all.

Few hours later, Ava Leon sat before the vanity mirror and glanced at the woman staring back at her. This cannot be her, right?

But she equally knows that's none else but herself. She looks splendid and sweet. Grandfather had arranged for her in a saloon and had the chauffeur drive her there.

A stylist made her hair. A make-up artist saw that her makeup was done perfectly and she wore a hundreds of dollars worth of dinner gown. As she stood up, it seemed to her that she is a different woman from the Ava Leon that she used to be.

It remained fifteen minutes to the dinner time and the chauffeur would drop her off and return to the mansion. The rest of the evening and returning home, was going to be Adrian's duty.

She hopes he will spare her a glance this time. She glanced at her off shoulder dress and liked it. She might not be a high class lady but just for the night, he should take her as one because of her dress.

Ava Leon arrived there as instructed by grandfather and it was a place prepared for them indeed. It's an open park, decorated for that singular purpose.

Not far away was a beach and the noise of birds chirping were heard, a perfect place for lovers to have fun and feel good.

A table for two was set up and filled with varieties of drinks and snacks. The place was lit up temporarily and the collection of rose flowers were placed in a vase and kept next to the table.

A sight that brings a tingle of love. Ava smiled and waited. She hopes he comes. That he would see the surroundings of it and for once, spare her a glance.

Ava Leon was waiting for Adrian to meet with her while the latter was engrossed in a passionate kiss with Lola in a five star restaurant…
