/Axel's POV/
The moment I bid goodbye to my mate at my castle, I was off to see the town witch—Jade. Something was not right. I could feel it in my gut from the moment I embarked on the journey to Lana's town. It could be delayed for later but I did not want to take abt chances.
The kettle whistled, and Jade lifted it off, pouring scalding hot water into a cup, keeping her eyes focused on the rim. I watched as she stirred in sugar, spoon clanking loudly against the brim. She dipped the tea bag, pressing it in with the spoon before splashing in some milk and sliding it in front of me.
"Thank you."
We sat in silence for a few minutes, sipping tea. I could hear the clock ticking away with a
I let out an unladylike gasp, affronted at those words and gaped at him. The Alpha merely blinked at me as if he would rather be doing anything than conversing with me. It was partly insulting; no, it was fully insulting and hurt my ego."With you present here?!" I asked, pulling the duvet tighter against my body. A delicious shiver ran down my spine as I thought of our time in the gardens. My wolf was ready to throw it all, humping him and being all needy for the knot.Axel gave me a look as if he was thinking the same thing, eyes raking over my body. "You do realise that we both have to orgasm on the sheets, right?"I blushed, avoiding his eyes. He was so crude.
I hummed, eyes bright and lips quirked up into a shadow of a smile as I looked at Alpha Axel. He kept mum the entire time, quietly chewing his plain omelette and a piece of toast. That was all his breakfast, I guessed from the lack of beans or grilled tomatoes or any other meat on his plate. How could the Alpha stomach that? After a few minutes, my mother in law excused herself, wanting to hurry in the preparations for the day. The more she said it, the more I could feel dread about upcoming events. What did I get myself into? "Make it quicker. I don't have all day, you know." I froze at his icy tone, my hand clutching the juice glass in mid-air. Something settled in the pit of my stomach that felt akin to irritation and annoyance. I set my glass down carefully, then angled
“How are you finding this place, Luna?” Ethan’s nasally voice cut through my consciousness, but it took an extra moment to realise he was addressing me. Having considered that, he was now guiding me back to the castle.Axel’s scent still lingered behind, making my fingers clasp tightly as I stared at his retreating back. How could he abandon me in the midway? The longing turned into a glare at the way he left, teeth-gritting together. Only if the people could see him for the actual cold person their Pack Alpha indeed was.“Excuse me?” I said, blinking at the commander next to me, eyes zoning on the badge pinned on his chest. My cheeks tinged pink as I realised, in my spite, I completely ignored whatever he had to say.
“Do you have to go?” I asked, taking my lip in between while my back rested against the nearest wall.“I have been told I am an excellent company, Luna, but this makes them all look trivial.”“Oh shush! I am only asking because there is no one else to give me a tour around.”Ethan made a mock offended sound, placing a hand on his chest and gripping it dramatically. “Way to break a heart.”I suppressed a giggle, rolling my eyes at him. There was something about the Alpha that I could not pinpoint, but that made me stay with him longer. Besides, apart from my maid, there was no one else to talk to.“Forgive me, commander. I was merely taking a dig at you.”&
/Axel’s POV/Bruno Winston proved to be exactly the kind of man I had pictured him. After a first glance at the Alpha sitting all alone on the huge bench and making his omega stand in the sun, I took a disliking to him.The moment the Alpha had opened his mouth, he had given away his talent of charming people with his slippery tongue. It was obvious how Bruno had gotten to this position well apart from inheriting from his father; its sweet talk lulling the people into a false sense of security.Upon entering the meeting room, I saw my beta, Liam, standing next to my chair, hands crossed together. He appeared every bit annoyed, as if the beta wanted to bolt if given a chance. Then again, who could blame him with Alpha Bruno sitting idly on the chair, his legs crossed and fiddling with
Everyone cleared from the kitchen the minute I stepped inside. It’s like they all knew about this tradition, silly smiles on their face. However, I did not find it amusing. With my hand on the hip, I perused the racks and cupboards, mouth twisting. What could I possibly make to sell our relationship? I eyed the freezer and stepped right in front, pulling it open with a drawn-out sound. As expected, there were various racks of meat staring back at me.I pulled out chicken thighs and walked to the island, setting them down before deciding on a menu. Spicy curry and rice and roasted potatoes and asparagus sounded like a safe bet. Who doesn’t like it? I will pair it along with custard at the end, and Axel will be crying tears of joy.
My arms tightly wrapped around my torso, fingers digging into my upper arms. The Alpha's harsh and rapid breathing made my toes curl, arms pricking with goosebumps. He was quelling the anger inside, as much as possible, still, they rolled out in waves, affecting my wolf. The Luna's question hung in the air, her eyes boring into me as she expected me to answer. I shifted on the balls of my feet, praying for the ground to open and swallow me. When I look at the situation from an outsider's perspective, it's not my fault. Axel was the one who suggested this crazy idea of rushing into a fake relationship. You agreed! My subconscious mocked me. "It does not matter now, mom!" Axel said with a low grunt, one of his han
Angel. I rolled the name off my tongue, feeling her eyes settle, rake over my body heavily. The omega was beautiful with long red hair, parted in the middle and flowers are woven on one side. Her skin was pale, with freckles on the nose and full round lips with a beauty spot in the corner. She was also graceful, back straightened and hands clasped on her lap. One look at her, and people would be fooled into thinking as a painting."Oh...hello." I smiled politely in her direction, to which she nodded at me, a forceful stretch of her lips irking me. What was with her?“Nice to meet you, Princess Lana. We have heard a lot about you from my dear Axel.”My dear Axel. I shot up my brow at that, eyes moving towards the Alpha, who seemed unaffected. Then agai
