Chapter Six

The next day came so quickly like magic or something. One minute I was in dreamland and the next I was blinded by the harsh rays of the sun peeking through my curtains. 

I checked the time on the digital clock and to my surprise, "It's almost noon?" I asked myself. Dragging my ass out of bed, I stretched my limbs out making them pop, I sighed and smiled.

Entering the bathroom, I brushed my teeth and bathed then I went to look for that dearest mate of mine. 

I could hear his heart beat and also the heartbeat of another, I frowned and went down to the kitchen. 

As I got closer, I could hear the laughter of a lady. My heart started beating fast.

Are you scared?

No..

I opened the door and found him sitting with a woman that looked liked she could be his mother by the counter. They both turned to look at me. The woman had short Platinum blonde hair, warm dark brown eyes and a warm smile. 

She got up from her stool and came to me. She gave me a warm bear hug, " oh my Phoenix, you didn't tell me she was so pretty" she said after releasing me.

He merely shrugged and turned back to whatever he was doing, bastard. " I'm Renee and this stupid boy is my nephew" she said " um I'm Clover nice to meet you ma'am" I said awkwardly.

'You're too stiff...'

'Shut up... we're meeting a family member, I'm trying to be polite...'

She shook her head and walked me to the counter. I sat down " no need for formalities dear...you can just call me aunt Ree" Phoenix scoffed. Aunt Renee turned " shut up, fool" she said and he kept quiet. 

I was so surprised at how he obeyed, " I hope he is treating you well?" She asked as she placed a plate of pancakes in front of me, " thank you...well apart from him being rude, no problems" I stuffed my face with pancakes and almost moaned from the deliciousness, he rolled his eyes.

" Oh he's always like that but don't worry he'll change...I think" she said and sat beside me. I hummed " your pancakes are delicious...I haven't tasted something so good since mo-- forever" I said quickly. She smiled " awww thanks dear" I smiled back and continued eating. I could feel his burning stare on me, he must have noticed my hesitation to complete that word. 

" Phoenix finish up, you can stare all you want later she's not going anywhere" Aunt Ree said. I looked at him, " yeah I'm not going anywhere, literally" he scoffed, "Don't flatter yourself too much... you're not that attractive" he whispered the last part to me. 

I narrowed my eyes at him while he gave me a smug look. I got an idea and smirked, " maybe to you but the guards at the cellar couldn't keep their lusty eyes off of me" I said. His eyes flashed gold before he closed them and got up, " I have work to attend to" and he was gone. 

Aunt Ree sighed, " young love"" what? No...that's not-"" don't worry I understand" she said still with a sly smile. I finished my food and helped her put the dishes in the dishwasher then I wiped the counter. Then we went to the living room to relax. 

" Clover..I know that he's not the best but please take care of him..okay?" Aunt Ree suddenly said out of the blues, 

"umm...okay" I responded. What was that about? I asked my self.

Aunt Renee left after a while leaving me all by myself...Hey! That's a song right?

When I was young

I never needed anyone--

" Oh my...Goooddd!!!!!" I jumped from the couch and fell over the coffee table. "Oh I'm so sorry..I didn't mean to startle you like that...please don't be mad at me Luna" someone rambled and came into my view. A pretty blonde girl with big brown eyes stretched her hand out and helped me up to my feet.

She chuckled nervously, " I'm so sorry" I gave her a smile " it's fine but uhh who--"" I'm Doe, Phoenix's cousin, Renee's daughter,the Beta's mate, you're so pretty" she rushed without blinking. Oh wow!

" I'm Clover"" nice to meet you Luna Clover" she beamed " no Clover is just fine" I said. She opened her mouth to say something but was interrupted by the door opening and another entered panting hard.

'Where are they coming from?'

'I have no idea..'

" Ah I forgot about you" Doe face palmed herself and helped the brunette to sit down while I stood there wondering what was going on. 

" Luna-- I mean Clover this is Millicent or Mills or Milly or Millie with the 'ie'-"" thank you Doe but I can speak for myself" the brunette stood up, " I'm Millicent or Millie, nice to meet you Luna" she smiled her Amber eyes twinkled " it's just Clover but nice to meet you too" I corrected. 

Doe popped up from between us and threw her arms over our shoulders, " finally our circle is complete! We're no longer the inseparable duo but the inseparable trio...yay!" She giggled like a teen. 

Millicent removed her arm and shoved her away playfully, " please don't mind her childish behavior"" I prefer being childish than being uptight and over serious" Doe said " correction I'm being responsible and acting my age, you should try that"" well sorry but I don't wanna grow old so quickly" Doe retorted. Millicent gasped dramatically, " I'm not ageing you fool".

I liked them they were funny and nice, my kind of people but I had to stop them before it would turn into a fight. " Okay guys I think that's enough" I chuckled and they both stopped bickering.

" Oh yes, Phoenix told us to take you shopping!" Doe said gleefully " yes you do need to go shopping, you can't keep wearing this, you look like a hobo" Millicent grimaced at the clothing Phoenix gave me, I shrugged. " Come on people let's go let's go, the clothes ain't shopping for themselves you know" Doe who was already at the door said.

'Huh? Seems like your day isn't boring anymore...'

'I'm so glad...'

I was not expecting this. I was beyond shocked. They have a mall?! Okay not a large mall more of a mini mall but still a mall is a mall. And the pack is so modernized and beautiful that you would mistake it for the human side. I was mind blown.

We'd been through a lot of stores buying shirts, footwear, simple dresses, jeans, cosmetics and other necessities. We were finally done and I was so hungry. 

My stomach growled, " we should get something to eat before I starve to death" I groaned " you're right I'm also hungry" Milly said and helped me carry some of the bags I was holding. 

We left the mall and assembled inside Doe's car in the parking lot, " there's a small cafe not far from here, Mills and I go there a lot, they have the best pastries ever!" Doe chirped as she drove us to the said cafe.

In less than a minute we were seating in a booth in a warm medium sized cafe eating our lunch. As much as I liked the food, I hated the stares they were giving me and glared at any eye I met. But it seemed like that only made it worse so, I just stopped and tried to focus on my food. 

I knew it wasn't there fault. They were simply curious. And from what Mills explained that this was the first time in years that they had an outsider in their pack so I shouldn't mind the stares. But come on people it's rude to stare!

" Umm...Clover are you alright?" Doe asked " Yes, why do you ask?" I asked back " you're emitting a very strong vibe and you're drawing more attention to yourself" she said " you need to chill the pack members are getting the wrong idea now" Doe added.

"Can we just leave?" I asked calmly. They nodded, then I and Doe exited the cafe while Millicent went to pay. 

" Sorry about them, they wouldn't have done that if they knew who you are" Doe apologized " I understand but Goddess they stare so much, it's annoying" I said, she chuckled, " we rarely have visitors"" Okay let's go" Millicent came out of the cafe and joined us in the car.

We spent the rest of the day arranging my new clothes in my closet. " Clover can I ask a question? please don't get mad" Doe said " sure ask away" I replied " umm what have you been doing all these years as a rogue?" She asked. " Uh nothing really just normal rogue stuff like running from rogue packs, stealing from rogue packs and normal packs, hunting wildlife, avoiding humans and travelling from one place to another" I shrugged. 

" Wow that's so cool!" She exclaimed. I chuckled " its not actually, it's lonely and dangerous being a lone wolf" I said " so you never had a family?" Millicent asked. I sighed, " uhm...I ... Uh..my parents died a long time ago so...no I don't ...have a family" I squeezed out. 

They gave me sympathetic looks, " you must have been through a lot" Millicent said and hugged me " but now you have us so your lonely days are over" Doe said. My heart warmed up, " I've only known you guys for a day but I already feel a little bit at home" I said.

" Don't worry after your Luna coronation you'll feel completely at home" Doe said " uhh I don't think that would be happening anytime soon Phoenix and I don't really get along" I said " don't worry he'll come around" Mills said. 

'I hope so...'

'Did you just say that? Aww I knew you were...'

'Shoooooo....'

Phoenix

" Okay everyone that's all for today... tomorrow same time and remember I don't tolerate lateness" I said to the young wolves " yes alpha, thank you alpha" they chorused and bowed.

I dismissed them and watched them leave the training hall. I sat down on a bench and grabbed a bottle of water while watching the older wolves train. 

Someone sat beside me and handed me a towel, " thanks for all the paperwork I really appreciate it" Tobias grumbled beside me. I scoffed and wiped the sweat off of my body, " training teens is like doing paperwork so, we are even" I said. 

I yawned involuntarily, " you should go home" he said " no I'm fine" I said " you can't keep running from her"" I'm not running from her" I retorted " then go home"" I'm supervising" he sighed. Landon left the warriors and jogged over to us, " great Toby you're here please take over for me I'm exhausted" he said and landed beside me.

Tobias scowled, " no way I just finished doing paperwork"" so?" Landon asked " paperwork is equivalent to training so yeah not today pal" he answered. I yawned again, " Phoenix go home or else I'll tell Aunty Ree that you're pushing yourself again" Tobias said " yes go home, I bet Clover's waiting" Landon grinned and wriggled his eyebrows at me. 

Scowling, I slapped the back of his head and got up from the bench, "fine I'm going, Landon don't forget to close the doors this time and Tobias please don't let Doe loose my credit card" I said and rubbed my face with my palms " got it"" yes sir" they said at the same time.

I left the hall and started heading towards home. The cool evening breeze blew against my tired form. The streets were almost empty, only a few wolves we're outside. They bowed as I passed them. 

Soon I was on the path leading to the house. 

'Finally we get to see mate after a long tiresome day...'

'Yay...note the sarcasm?'

'You should be happy she's our mate and from now on everyday will be like this, get used it...'

'Whatever...'

I opened the door and entered the house. Her scent filled the my nostrils as I entered the living room. I inhaled and exhaled, a warm feeling made it's way to my chest. I shook it off and headed for the kitchen, " I need a drink" I mumbled to my self.

I opened the door and froze in place. What. Is. Happening? I asked myself, she was... cooking?. She turned and jumped in shock, " what is wrong with you? Don't you know its wrong to sneak up on people" She asked while holding a spoon to her chest, " what are you doing?" I asked.

She blinked, "what does it look like I'm doing?"" You can cook?" I asked in disbelief. She narrowed her blue eyes at me and rested her hands on her waist, " I don't like that question" I rolled my eyes at her " i just asked a question, not everything I say to you is an insult" I said and leaned against the door way. 

" You said not everything which means almost everything you say to me is an insult" she said. I frowned at her, " what's your deal?"" What's your deal?" She asked with a slight smirk. She was messing with me, " you're so annoying"" boohoo you're stuck with me" she said and continued cooking whatever she was cooking.

Out of curiosity I asked, " what are you brewing?" I asked " first of all, I'm not a witch, I don't brew and I'm making something...I don't know what it is...the name is too long" she said " I'm afraid for myself" I started leaving " hang around I'm almost done" she said delightfully. 

Dear moon goddess save me from early death. I prayed as I went up to the stairs.
