{Isla’s POV} We were marching through the woods, silence on our lips but our feet roaring with thuds. It was only a matter of time before our lips would tear into the silence with war cries and our claws would be swung into the air to spill blood. But for now, there was still serenity. However, the serenity wasn’t for me. Unlike everyone else traveling through the forest, my enemy wasn’t just the Lycans and their King. I had other enemies— unknown enemies and I had to fish them out before they would do more damage.I had to separate those I knew I could trust from those I suspected to be dubious. And to start identifying the iffy ones, I turned to my left. “Ralph,” I called.Ralph tuned out from the conversation he was having with Emkay and turned towards my direction. He immediately strolled over to meet me. “Yes, my Queen.”I had a frown on but then I smiled. “You regard me this way so often that I’ve gotten used to it. It no longer sounds strange hearing you call me, ‘my Queen”.
Chapter 176 ~ Is He Kidding Me?{Isla’s POV} I felt like Ralph was talking gibberish and felt the need to force sense into him using my fists, but then we all suddenly started hearing the sound of werewolves growling aggressively, most likely in a fight.I tensed.A fight wasn’t supposed to be happening. By calculations, the Lycans were still a day away. But then, I was still hearing fierce noises now. And I became disturbed at once.Ralph gazed at me questioningly but I had my eyes arrowed at a point ahead. I couldn’t see where the fight was happening or the bunch that was fighting, but I was looking exactly in that direction. I raised my hand up for the warriors to see and understand that I didn’t want any sudden movements. I needed to quietly go see for myself. With a gulp, I crept forward now and Ralph trailed behind me. I ignored his disobedience and focused on what was more paramount— knowing who the fighters were.My lungs were filled with dread and not air as I got closer to t
{Isla’s POV}Korr was a Lycan and when he said he could smell his fellow Lycans, I believed him at once.As werewolves, we could perceive other things with our sense of smell but then the strongest scent we could perceive was the scent of another werewolf. So with that fact, I knew it was the same for the Lycans.Korr’s words shot me with dread and I rushed over to where the other warriors were scattered and apprised them of the new information. There were other Lycan spies. They all became silent and vigilant and I instructed them to stay that way. I crept over to the Lycan who was alive of the three we had captured and I slaughtered him. I knew he could smell his fellow Lycans too and it was just a matter of time before he gave up our location, hence my reason for killing him. Immediately. I took up a knife and sliced myself at the wrist. Andrea and some other person tried to stop me but they weren’t quick enough.“My Queen.” Andrea called in a hushed voice as she stared at me in sh
{Isla’s POV}The majority of us didn’t end up sleeping last night. It was hard to slumber when we knew our people were presently fighting a war that they were designed to lose. It was sad and scary but then it was part of the plan, and the sacrifice for such a plan was our comfort— a whole lot of us carried that discomfort and worry into the next morning. The Next Morning…Even as we crept through the forest now, as we journeyed back to the Palace amidst the beautiful dawn, everyone’s expression was far from claiming a cheery smile. We knew the grim reality of things and we dreaded it.By this time, the Lycan King and his army would be already returning to the Reignile Palace with the werewolves as their supposed slaves, and I could only hope that everything went as planned. The sun rose up into the sky to pour its orange, red, and violet rays on a threatening number of werewolves skimming through the forest with brutal creed on their minds and quest for liberation in their hearts. We
{Isla’s POV}I led the attack through the Main gate of the Palace, the North entrance gate, and the shouts of the warriors full of vigor all around me fueled my motivation. It gave me the boldness I needed to march into the Palace and face the powerful Lycan King. We stormed the Palace like a blast of lightning and any spectator around would think that we wanted to tear down the Palace… but no, we just wanted to retain our home. The gates were torn down to aid our entry while some of the warriors climbed up the crooked part of the wall that we had set up days before, and we entered the Palace with our warming numbers. But when we did, we were blown away by the sight before us. On my Throne, my own throne, was seated the Lycan King, a figure mightier than any being I’ve ever seen. I tensed. He had brought my throne out of the Throne room and the Palace building and placed it a short distance from the Palace gates and walls, and now he was sitting on it and wearing brutality on his sk
{Isla’s POV}Hot tears streamed out of my eyes as they abandoned the sad container that was me.The Lycan king’s friend was Natgy— the same ugly old straw-skinned lady. And here I was thinking she was beginning to become beautiful. My mother gripped me and her grasp on me felt weak. She was broken too, just like me and everybody else that knew Natgy.Natgy was the traitor. She gave a prophecy about me having backstabbers in my company and I had cautiously gone in search of them not knowing she was referring to herself.I should really applaud her ‘cause I definitely didn’t see this coming.I hated myself for being so gullible, and hated her more… but who did I hate the most?Cayden. I should have known that nothing good will ever sprout from his cruel self. He’s the devil’s embodiment and that all he’ll forever be, and to think that I was already beginning to trust him made me feel so stupid. So stupid!I took my watery eyes away from Natgy and the Lycan and rested a glare on Cayde
{Isla’s POV}The Lycan King stood up from the Iron throne with his imposing aura. He spoke with a stern voice, a voice that was meant to intimidate me.Funny.But, let’s put it this way; I wasn’t in the mood to be intimidated.“Now that the real Alpha Queen is here, I ask you to choose between surrendering and maybe having a chance to be one of my servants, or resisting and suffering my wrath.” The Lycan king said. He has been wearing a smile on his surprisingly handsome face all this while, a smile meant to leave me troubled. But now when he said this, he wore a frown. It was a hint that told me that things were about to get really serious and messy, and the tense silence that swept in afterward came with dread as everyone awaited my reply. Have a chance to be his servant?Funny again. The Lycan King looked like an all-powerful King, a perfect leader for such a brutal and mighty species, and he had more men than I did as my eyes could relay. It was scary…But then again, the only
{Isla’s POV}I heard a voice I had forgotten existed and it shocked me, but I turned around to become even more puzzled.Someone had clawed me on my back, a gaping cut which stung deep within me. I spun myself around, angry and confused— these Lycans were getting cheap shots at me. But then I saw his face and all my raging emotions dissolved away, except for shock.I was staring at the face of one of the Rogues who had captured me in the forest on that very day when I had been chased out of Cayden's Alpha Mansion.— The same Rogue who had taken me to the Palace back to my mum and Dad. “Kunuki?” I mouthed in raw disbelief, staring at his crookedly grinning face. It was really him.— really him that clawed me?“My Queen.” He bowed, still grinning. He was looking much taller and built than the last time I saw him— which was like an eternity ago.A Lycan lunged at me and I caught him by the neck and flung him in the air away, still looking at Kunuki. I was really confused.I stuttered, “
