Crazyyy chapter here!!! it’s about to go down!!! Haha… I’ll really love to know what you guys think! Do you think Isla made the right decision by giving the permit for Cayden’s arrest, or do you think there’s a hidden agenda at play here¿ Well. I don’t know… haha. But we’ll see. Lol… See yA!
{Isla’s POV}I gave the permit and the next minute, Ralph was gone, and with him, the crowd of warriors. They were going to capture Cayden.I stared at Andrea as she had an uneasy expression bathing her face. I didn’t like the look so I asked her, “What’s wrong?”“Do you think you made the right decision, My Queen?” She asked me.I entertained a moment of silence as I thought about her question. Did I make the right decision?I’m not sure about that. But did I also make the wrong decision?I’m not sure about that either, and so I’ve not done anything wrong as of now.“I don’t know, Andrea. We’ll have to find out when they bring him in. Besides, his behavior these past few days has been dubious so he needs to be questioned nonetheless.”“I think you should have put another person in charge.” Andrea said as we strolled away from Cayden’s Chambers front.“And why do you say that?”“I don’t know…” She trailed off. “Ralph seems… hate-driven. He might not follow orders.” “I’ve given—” “My
{Isla’s POV}I seized Kayla and lifted her off the ground as I glared at her. “You don’t joke about such things, Kayla!” I scowled at her.“You can’t come in here and say thrash and call it a discussion! Is this how you would behave if you were truly made my advisor?” I quizzed sternly. She winced and shrieked. “Put me down. Please…” I growled. “I’ll kill you with my own two hands if you joke about something like that ever again.” I said and dropped her to the ground, and while she choked and tried to stabilize her breathing, there was a gentle knock on the door.I frowned as I strolled towards a chair on the side. “Come in.” I said and the guards opened up the door for me to see a maid walk in. It was the same oddly-behaved maid from before.“You again.” I said with a sigh.“Your Highness.” She bowed promptly and I nodded in response. She grew silent and I just stared at her. Doesn’t she know she’s to state her reason for being here? The silence continued for a moment and I was sta
{Isla’s POV}I paced out of my mum’s Chambers and the small crowd that had gathered trailed behind me. Andrea was still beside me and she gripped my left hand and stroked it gently. She knew I was angry— and I do crazy things whenever I’m angry.“Ralph.” I called.“Yea, My Queen.” He inched closer.“Bring out all the suspects to the fields— except the kitchen maids. They prepared food for the general populace and if only one person died, then they are innocent,” I said and Ralph nodded before he trudged away to do my bidding.“Also bring Cayden.” I added.“Isla…” I heard my mum’s voice so I halted my haste as she tried to catch up with me. She got to me and rested a gentle touch on my cheek. It momentarily gave me peace but the aggression that was inside of me was too strong to be defeated now. “Don’t let your anger rule you, Isla. You rule your anger ‘cause when it’s the other way around, we tend to make mistakes.” She said. “You can always rest for the night and carry on the inves
{Isla’s POV}My gaze stretched in shock as I realized what I was holding, poison— what I had found in Cayden’s possession.“Seize him!“ I roared and a ton of guards rushed to bind Cayden to the ground on his knees. He was immediately injected with Wolfsbane as he was wrapped with more chains. He looked at me with alarm and confusion on his face but I crept over to him and wiped those fake expressions off his face with a strong fist. Blood came pouring out of his mouth.“You traitor!” I bawled and clenched his neck tightly to raise his gaze to meet mine. “You murderer!” Cayden coughed out some more blood and then he turned to look at me. “What are you talking about?” He said.I see. He wants to play pretend. I smacked him again as stinging tears clothed my eyes. “You killed Carlot, you demon!” I cried. “How could you?!” He spat out more blood and with his mouth gaping, he turned to look at me again. “Carlot is dead?!” He voiced.I immediately inched away from him. I don’t have time
{Isla’s POV}Her smile always irritates me and that’s why she reveals it to me without effort.I felt like going over there and wiping it off her face with a good punch but I had to remain calm because she was the one who could help us bring Cayden to Justice.“What do I want?” Ivanka muttered dramatically. I rolled my eyes.“Well, I’m not asking for much. It’s simple, what I want. I want to be out of that hole of darkness you put me in and brought to the surface where I can see the light… by Your Majesty's grace that is. I don’t mind serving as a slave or worse, but I just want to be out of there.” She bowed. “This is my request, my Queen.” Slowly, the hall began bobbing with murmuring and chattering. Ivanka was requesting freedom from the dungeons to be brought up here and put to harsh labor which was a strange demand— as in the Dungeons, she only had to sleep, wake up, and eat but out here, she would be put to afflicting labor through every hour of the day, every day— as per how s
{Isla’s POV}Cayden was tugged roughly to the wooden post where I was standing and waiting. He was dragged on the floor because his feet were useless. He couldn’t use them to walk due to the lava heat from the Critter Dungeon that had burned them. He also had blood-stained injuries on his arms and legs, and whip marks from the rounds of vain torture the guards at the Critter Dungeon had put him through. His hair was messy, stained also with blood, and he was really bruised.Filthy.The guards dragged him until a few distance from me where they dumped him on the ground. He crashed limply with the clanking of the heavy chains while the guards chained him to the Execution Post.He looked drained and weak but I knew it was all a facade. He could kill a wild Boar if one was brought to him now.I covered the distance between us with a short step and held his jaw, raising his head up for his gaze to meet mine. I needed him to see the hatred I had in my eyes for him. I needed him to see the s
{Isla’s POV}I went from feeling optimistic about the execution to feeling very confused with it.There was no execution anymore.Cayden had tricked me and then he had vanished. I blamed myself for believing he wanted to die a noble death… but then there was more to the story. He had left behind a message.Mysterious Pack. It sounded familiar but that didn’t help reduce my confusion by one bit.The guards were still in the woods chasing after him but I knew that was a vain attempt. They could never catch Caydne out there, except if he wanted them to. With his velocity, he was most likely a mile away from where the guards were searching.I drove my gaze around to see how cold the crowd had grown. They had come to witness an execution but had instead witnessed carelessness. My carelessness. “My Queen.” I heard familiar voices call my attention before I saw Emkay and Andrea appear before me. They must have seen how disturbed and confused I was looking.“Are you okay?” Andrea asked me.
{Isla’s POV}“What’s our next course of action?” Ralph asked me.I was buried in my thoughts and his question had interrupted me but I had an idea.“We’ll search Cayden’s chambers— see if we can get any clues from there.” I said, rising to my feet with my words.I had come to my room to rest but I just couldn’t. I couldn’t just lay around and do nothing.“Now?” Kayla asked.“Yes.” I said, already strolling towards the door. They both trailed behind me as I crept out of the room and started for Cayden’s chambers. I was pacing fast now and someone joined us on the way. “My Queen. What’s going on?” Andrea asked in her tiny voice. “Where are you guys headed in such a hurry?”“Cayden’s chambers.” I said.“Is he there?” She asked promptly, confusion lingering in her voice.I can understand why she would think that. Recently I’ve been thinking that I’ve become slow in my actions, so I decided to start doing things a little faster. Walking included. If I had been quick-witted, I might have b
