It's Thursday, morning.
Yes, it has been two days since Marcus visited Miguel. However, the resentment in Andrea’s heart still remains.
“I’d like to recommend your aesthetic shirts to my classmates since I like it so much. I couldn’t believe that my boyfriend will find me attractive wearing those. So, thank you.” A senior high schooler petite girl vibrantly commented as she scanned the bangles she additionally ordered from Andrea.
Silence…
“Actually, my roommates wanted to have those shirts too, so, do you still have those lovely designs?” She asked.
Still, silence hailed over.
“Hey, Ms. nerdy, are you listening to me?” Waving her hand at Andrea’s face, she added.
“Huh? ah! I’m s-sorry. What did you say?” Andrea inquired.
“I said if do you still have those lovely shirts' designs I ordered last day, my roommates wanted it too, so I’d like to order again.” Crossing her hands, the petite girl answered.
“Ah, yeah! Of course, I still have.”
“Okay! Same address and same time tomorrow. Please deliver it.”
The girl gave her the payment for her second purchased and then excused herself.
The moment the petite girl disappeared from her sight, Andrea immediately began talking to herself as she spanked her forehead, and said, “Ugh! … stop meddling to their business Andrea, and stop thinking about them.”
Her thoughts are really wandering from the things Marcus had mentioned the other day.
[Flashback] …
“Do… you… know each other?” Andrea asked Miguel, confusingly.
“He’s my family.” Miguel responded coldly without looking at her.
“Come on Marcus, get inside.” With Miguel gesturing head, he said.
The three of them took their seats and after a long silence…
"Can you tell me what's going on? I'm confused because he's the one who helped me to carry you that night and if he's really your family... so... your family knows? But, why are you still here? Why are you hiding here?"
Marcus looked at Miguel, but since the latter remained silent, so he choose not to butt-in.
Andrea received no response from them, so she added and asked again, “Why did you choose to stay in this small apartment when you have enough money to pay for more than two luxurious hotel rooms? Why did your family allow you to be apart with them when they knew you have an accident? D-don’t tell me you ran away from home just li –” A sudden bolt jolted into Andrea’s head when she realized that she almost slip-up herself. She’s about to gone overboard as she is despicably asking series of questions.
A pair of fierce and provocative eyes met hers.
“J-just like a big coward who flees for commiting a huge sin?” She added, anxiously, instead. She was a bit nervous meeting Miguel’s confrontational eyes.
Sealed his lips, Miguel ignored.
“Ah, no-no, it’s not what you think Miss... Andrea, right?” Marcus opposed and asked hesitantly. He can't contained the silence anymore.
In a serious tone, Andrea confirmed her name to Marcus.
With a single sigh, Marcus revealed, “My cousin hides himself here, because someone from our family wants him dead. Actually, you’re his savior!”
“What? Me? His savior?” pointing herself with a baffled expression, Andrea asked.
“Yes! You he –”
“Stop it! She had nothing to do with it, so she doesn’t need to know!” Miguel cut-off Marcus conclusively. He casted a look from Andrea’s baffled expression before facing Marcus and spoke again, “You bring it over, right?”
“Yes, of course.” Marcus answered shortly.
With a nod, Miguel reacted and said, “Let’s go inside the room. I’ll show you something.”
“Wait! You didn’t answer me yet, why I become his savior –”
Miguel suddenly blocked Andrea’s way. He drew his body nearer at her, cut her off as he put his finger on her mouth, then in a husky and serious tone, he said, “You don’t have to know everything even if someone wants me dead. Just mind that I’m here, so you can pay from that accident you’ve caused me. Okay?”
Andrea couldn’t react yet. Her lips remain parted as a tingling sensation ran through her body. She still felt his hands gently touched her lips. In that moment, she can’t hardly explain the inexplicable feeling of the electricity running through her veins.
With a smirk, Miguel removed his hand, leaving Andrea stiffened.
Hearing the closing sound of the door, Andrea has returned to her senses. She hurriedly gets a glass of water and drank it blushingly.
[End of Flashback]…
“How come I’m his savior? Is his life really in danger?”
Andrea just sighed when she recalled those scenes. In her heart, the confusion of what Marcus and Miguel had said remained unsettled. She wants to know the answers for her questions, but Miguel didn’t give her any single answer. Instead, what she’d got was an inexplicable feeling and a mess in her heart every time she’ll met his gazed and become closer at him.
“No, no. It can’t be. You can’t like him Andrea. He’s a way out of your league!” Shaking her head, Andrea neglected the thoughts of liking him.
“Few days later now, he’ll surely leave. Everything will be back to what it was before.” She whispered into the air. Recounting the days, she realized that Miguel was with them for almost two weeks. The end of their contract will soon bound to happen.
***
Friday came. Miguel is watching through the window how the blazing fire of the setting sun radiated outside. Night will soon appear.
“So, what is it now?” Marcus immediately said after the call was connected. He’s still at the office, sitting on his swivel chair while facing his laptop. Miguel called him up.
“I emailed you the company’s projected plans.” Miguel uttered.
“Yeah, I got it. I’m currently viewing it.” Marcus seriously replied while scrolling the presentation Miguel has sent him.
“Everything is up to you now Marcus.” Leaning sideways and pocketing his left hand, Miguel remarked.
Sighing, Marcus stood up. He walked near his tinted glass to face the orange tinge of the sky with the phone still on his ear, and asked, “When are we going to do it?”
“Tomorrow.” Miguel replied resolutely.
After the call was disconnected, Miguel dropped the phone as he watched his wounded arm. In less than two weeks, the injuries from the car accident were already looking better, with the bruises fading and the cuts beginning to scab over.
Miguel was in deep thought when suddenly he heard some crash outside.
The door suddenly opens.
“Just leave Jake. I don’t want to be with you anymore.” Trina shouted as she guarded the door. She just came in and was about to close the door again, but because Jake has strong force than her, he still managed to stop the door from closing and enter inside.
"No, I don't want to!!! I didn't do anything wrong! What you saw was wrong. So, why are you breaking up with me?" Jake is furiously asking after Trina.
"Don't make a fool out of me multiple times. I know what I saw. You kissed her. So enough! I'm tired of understanding all your nonsense. I'm fed up. Get out of here!" Trina exclaimed angrily as she pushed him away from her.
Miguel, in contrary stupefied to witness the two’s arguments. From what he heard, it seemed like he already knew the reason behind their conflict.
“So, this is the scumbag!” He silently commented with raised eyebrows as he remembered the man whom Andrea and Trina talked about the other day, the reason why they failed to pay their house rental. However, he didn't want to meddle in their conflict, so he began to move slowly as if to enter the room, but before he could even step in, Jake caught his eye, facing him with anger.
"Who are you? What are you doing here, huh? Is he the one you're boasting about, that's why you're trying to break up with me, huh?" Facing and pointing Miguel first, then back to Trina, Jake irritably retaliated.
Due to her anger and inner turmoil, Trina was lost in herself and didn't notice Miguel's presence. Her face turned white as she realized that he was in the corner and overheard their argument.
“A-ah, Miguel I – I’m s-sorry about this.” Trina apologized as she knows his not the type of the person to be pissed-off, because surely, they’ll be finished. “Let’s go. Let’s talk outside.” She faced and told Jake thereafter, she’s about to drag him outside.
Miguel wordlessly moved and was about to go inside, but –
"Fuck you to sleep here with my girlfriend and for trying to steal her away from me!" Jake said, fumingly, breaking free from Trina's grip and landing a strong punch to Miguel's face. Miguel quickly dodged it, causing Jake to stumble and fall.
Lying down, Jake glared angrily at Miguel.
"Asshole, watch your words! I will never ever steal your girlfriend from you, because I don't like her!" Looking down and facing Jake while directing Trina, Miguel decisively uttered.
“Fuck you! Are you trying to fool me?” In anger, Jake confronted and stood up to face Miguel again.
“Enough! Stop it, Jake!” Trina screamed hysterically. She stood in between to stop Jake from whatever his going to do next.
“What is happening here?” Andrea suddenly interjected. She had just arrived from the market. She had gone out to buy ingredients for cooking as they had run out of supplies.
The three shifted their attention to Andrea who just entered the door with plastic bags on her hand. However, this didn't stop Jake from losing his temper, he angrily whined, “So, you really are siding with him?”
"I'm not taking sides here. Don't twist the situation, because between the two of us, you're the one who cheated. I have no relationship with Miguel.” Trina couldn't help but worry about what might happen if Miguel got angry. She couldn't gauge the extent of the consequences when he did, now that she knew how influential Miguel's family was.
"Huh! So, it's Miguel, huh! Don't fool me. If you have no relationship with this guy, then why is he here? Don't tell me he's the boyfriend of your nerdy and ugly friend, huh?" Jake angrily commented by casting a brief look to Andrea and back to Trina. "If you won't confess, let me make this braggart confess for you." He added, furiously, and was ready to attack Miguel.
Miguel's eyes narrowed upon hearing this. When Jake was about to punch him, he quickly dodged. He grabbed one of Jake's fists and swiftly countered, slamming him in the stomach while seriously saying, "Do you know who I am? What if I tell you that I can erase you from this world? Would you like that?"
A horror was reflected on Trina and Andrea's faces.
"Miguel, that's enough. You're hurt!" Andrea gently called out, reaching for his shoulder as he approached him.
Miguel paused in his intended punch towards Jake. He looked at Andrea and saw her pleading gaze.
He sighed.
Releasing Jake, he turned to Andrea, saying, "Don't let others look down on you."
Then, he quickly went into the room, leaving Jake writhing in pain.
"Trina, you know that Miguel is here, right? Why did you bring him here?" Andrea whispered as she approached Trina."I didn't. He followed me here on his own." Trina replied as she tried to help Jake stand."Let go of me! Go with that jerk! Bullshit!" Jake heatedly said as he avoided Trina’s hands and struggled to stand, making his way out towards the door."Wait a moment, Andre." Trina worriedly remarked, briefly looking at Andrea before quickly following Jake outside. Despite her anger towards him for witnessing him kissing another girl whose hands were wrapped around his neck, still, she couldn't bring herself to disregard him. She saw how hurt he was from the punch he received from Miguel. She was worried, because he had just undergone an appendicitis surgery which was the reason for his momentary disappearance and not paying the money he owed her.Meanwhile, Andrea quietly watched the door through which Miguel entered. She raised her right hand to knock, but hesitated and withdrew
The sun had already climbed high in the sky when Andrea emerged from her place, the current dwelling she called home. She was on her way to her supplier as she run out of stocks for her merchandise. As she maneuvered her motorcycle through the streets, she passed by one of the largest hospitals in the city center: Brixton's Jackson Medical Hospital. She knew it was owned by Miguel's family and currently managed by his aunt, Dr. Selena Jackson Alvarez. Ever since she had discovered Miguel's true identity, she had long known; the Jacksons were multi-billionaires. Their wealth was unmistakably prominent in Brixton City, standing out as one of the wealthiest families in the country. Their fortune was evident in the education, medical, and real estate industries. After a few seconds of staring at the imposing building, Andrea glanced at her watch. Realizing it was almost time for her scheduled meeting with her supplier, she swiftly resumed from driving and left without reluctance.Meanwhil
At precisely four o'clock, the sun cast a warm, golden glow across the city. Missis Natalie sat patiently on the plush chair by the glass window; anxiously awaited the call from her trusted man to finalize the fate of Miguel and Marcus. Her fingers tapped impatiently on the polished surface of the desk, eyes fixed on her phone. Finally, the screen lit up. Taking a deep breath to compose herself, she answered the call. "Yes?" "Ma'am, it's Davis. Boss wants you to prepare the huge payment for the heads of the two. We've got them." Davis' voice was cold and detached, the weight of his words chilling to the bone. "Excellent. Where is your Boss? I'd like to speak with him; I have a task for him," Mrs. Natalie responded, an insidious smile creeping onto her face. "I’m listening," came the reply from the other end. "You've done well, Conte. Now, you can avenge your father. Miguel's head is yours. But Marcus... he's a rival to Edward for Simon's position," Mrs. Natalie's eyes gleamed with
The clock on the grand ballroom wall struck 7:00 PM, its golden hands gliding over the intricately designed face, signaling the official start of Jackson Corporation's 50th annual celebration. The ballroom was already alive with the hum of chatter and the soft clinking of champagne glasses. Guests in their finest attire, an array of shimmering gowns and tailored suits, milled about under the glow of crystal chandeliers, eagerly awaiting the evening's program.Prominent executives and influential figures from various branches of the company had already arrived, mingling and exchanging pleasantries. The air was thick with anticipation; everyone knew that tonight was not just another annual celebration—it was the night Simon Jackson, the longstanding CEO, would announce his successor.Yet, while the room filled with eager faces and excited murmurs, the Jackson family themselves had not yet made their appearance. Each branch of the powerful family remained in their respective private suit
“Grr… what an unlucky day!!” Andrea cursed as she drove her motorcycle. It was raining cats and dogs due to heavy thunderstorm. She went outside to deliver her customers’ orders and she didn’t expect that she’ll finish it so late. It was reported in the news that there would be a tropical storm, so she delivered her goods as quickly as she could, but she didn’t ever think that the tropical storm would catch her at any moment. She speedily drove her motorcycle because she already felt the coldness on her back down to her spine when suddenly… Beep… Beeeeepppp… “Ahhh… Screeeeeech…” Andrea shouted as the metal screeching of the wheels from her 2-wheeled vehicle could be heard. She fiercely pressed the brakes. She was scared to death as she thought that she would be hit by the opposite car moving towards her direction. Crash… Whack! Andrea opens her eyes when she heard a loud bang of collision coming from her sideways. Only did she realized that she was not hit by the car, but it bumpe
When Dr. Calvo exited the ward, Miguel at the moment has studied the woman who almost faltered before him. The woman who has pale yellow hair, with a mole on the right check underneath her immense eyeglasses and darkish bushy eyebrows, but a height like that of any beauties in a pageant slowly approached him. Andrea alleviates her eyeglasses and with her huge braces, she timidly greeted him. She felt awkward and nervous as Miguel gives her cold shoulders. From Andrea’s back, Trina appeared swiftly and merrily said, “Helloooo! Can you recognize her? She’s Andrea, the one who saved you… And, I’m Trina by the way, her friend.” On his comfortable spot, Miguel scrutinized the ladies back and forth and asked, “Do you have food? I’m hungry.” Trina and Andrea’s jaw almost fell on the floor. They stared at each other and shared the same thoughts; what a weirdo! He asked first for a food instead of asking who they are or what happened. Of course, Miguel would ask for a food because it was so
In a huge dining table of the Jackson’s manor are the sumptuous breakfast prepared by the female servants. When the last menu was served, the members of the family has arrived one after another. “Oh my god, brother Marcus. Look at this live news! Isn’t this brother Miguel’s car?” Cali, the future medical doctor and the only first-born young Lady of the family run towards Marcus’ direction who already settled in the dining area. Marcus reluctantly received his cousin’s phone and realized what she fusses about. “Cali what’s with Miguel that made you ran and breath profoundly?” Missis Selena, Cali’s mom asked. She and her husband, Ezequiel are the first to arrive at the dining table. Cali looked at her mom who’s sitting adjacent to her direction and panicky replied, “Mom it’s about brother Miguel’s car that was found under the bridge of Bay Avenue.” “What?” the family in tremor’s state said in unison. “Let me see it Marcus!” Atty. Alexander Villaren, father of Marcus quickly retorted
“Don Arthur, we had searched many areas where your grandson was last sighted and conducted varied interviews. We even search the whole vicinity of Lake Avenue for we thought he’s gone to other part of the stream due to water current brought by the tropical storm that night, but your grandson is nowhere to found. We are really trying our best to find your grandson as soon as possible.” Inspector Gomez, the assigned head of the search team has explained. With Don Arthur’s walking stick, he approached the four policemen who were in-charge of finding Miguel and he furiously said, “Best? And where’s that best you’re talking about huh? I presumed that you came here by informing us that you already found my grandson! Look officer, it’s been 3 nights and 2 days since my grandson was missing, but 'til now, you didn’t prove that best you kept on spouting about!”“I’m sorry Inspector, I understand you’re trying your best, but we just hope for a positive result in this matter as quickly as possib

“Miss Mina!!” Andrea said, feeling surprise after she opened the door. “Andrea, didn’t you hear me? I’ve been calling you since I saw you at the gate.” Miss Mina asked enthusiastically. “Oh! I’m so sorry Miss Mina. I didn’t hear you because I was in a hurry for I thought I hadn’t turned off the gas stove.” Andrea created an excused. “But, what brings you here Miss Mina? Didn’t we pay enough for the rent?” She added with a confused and worried expression. “Oh no, no. no! It has nothing to do with the rent.” Miss Mina waved her hand as she answered and uninvitedly made her way inside. “Where’s your boyfriend?” She suddenly asked as she walked past through Andrea and skim the inside to look for someone. “Why are you looking for him?” Andrea asked. Miss Mina has turned around. She looked at Andrea in the eye and eagerly said, “Haven’t you seen the I-TV morning-news channel? You know, I ran immediately here when I recognized the man’s face in the newsflash. I really think that it’s yo
‘cock-a-doodle-doo’ Miguel mistily opened his eyes. He was awakened by the alarm clock's roaster sound on the bedside table. Seconds later, he got up and hastily turned it off. “Ops! You shouldn’t turn it off. I set the alarm for you to take your medicine on time.” Andrea’s words popped out and echoed into his mind. In his recent stay with Andrea and Trina, he actually used to turn the alarm off because he was annoyed on its weird roaster sound. But, no matter how many times he’ll turn it off before he’ll sleep, Andrea would still and repeatedly sneak into the room to set it back. He could still remember the past few days she ran into him to steal the clock on his hold and turn the alarm once more. She keeps on retelling that it’s to remind him on taking his medicine on time. Thinking about it, Miguel merely lift his eyelids indifferently, smile and repeatedly shook his head like a villain, “You really got me, nerdy!” He commented idly. He got up from the bed and walk into the clo
“So, that was why! Way back then in Dr. Calvo’s clinic, when I supervised his discharge, I was in awe to know that the bill was already paid. The cashier just informed me that the patient's bill in suite room 207 has been settled. Dr. Calvo didn’t even mention his full name that time and how foolish I am to think that he’s an Imperial. I pitied him not because not every Imperial in the whole city holds a prestige life, but because he was injured because of me.” Andrea silently recalled and screamed on her head. “You lied. You told me and Trina once that you are an Imperial. We asked and you said, you are Miguel Imperial.” Andrea voiced out instead. She argued after contemplating. “I am. As so you know, I’m Allen Miguel Imperial – Jackson.” “What the –” Andrea was stunned and couldn’t argue any longer. She doesn’t know what to say and what to feel. She was out of words, because the truth is, she felt so anxious for she never expect that she is keeping not only a stunning and handsome
Don Arthur’s nephew and grandsons were about to stand to assist him, but they were stop by his hand signals telling them to go back to their seats because he has Oman at his side. “My apologies for coming late because no one notify me that today you are reconsidering to select a new leader for the company that I and my siblings built!” with power and integrity, Don Arthur announced the moment he sat at the middle edge of the rectangular table facing Simon’s direction. “Dad, I –” Simon was about to explain when Don Arthur stopped him through his hand gesture. He continued his statements while focusing his attention to his son and said, “I know that you have decided to pass down the presidency and CEO position to Edward. But, in order not to be biased and to protect the profits and welfare of the company and its people, so its better for us to have a fair-play selection. “So, are you saying that I couldn’t protect the company and can't make profits if I would be the new CEO that’s wh
