Two weeks later
Snow’s P.O.V I pressed a trembling hand to my flat belly, staring at the two pink lines on the pregnancy test and the world tilted on its edge. Positive. No. No, no, no. This couldn’t be happening. I stumbled back, clutching the edge of the sink in the dirty bathroom. My reflection stared back at me, pale and wide-eyed, as if even she didn’t recognize who I was anymore. A silent sob wracked my body and I bit down on my lip hard enough to draw blood, trying to keep myself from falling apart completely. I’d been throwing up and fainting since that night with…with him. A part of me didn’t want to accept the possibility of a pregnancy until the head maid commented on my sickly appearance, asking if she should get the doctor. It wasn’t that she cared about me, but if i died under her watch, the alpha would destroy her. So i quickly refused and decided to take the test…and now, this. Pregnancy out of wedlock was forbidden for an Omega, especially one like me. Worse still, my brother would kill me. If he knew I had…had sex. He’d do worse than kill me. I pressed my fist to my mouth, stifling the soundless cry that threatened to escape. I coudln’t let anyone find out. Not even the other maids. This secret had to stay buried, like everything inside me. My hands trembled as I shove the test deep into the trash, covering it with scraps of paper and clothe. Just then, the shrill voice of the head omega maid echoed through the corridors. I wiped my face, cleaning all evidence of my tears before stepping out. I was surprised to see almost all the omegas of the Midnight pack where guarded in the yard. Everyone was murmuring under she cleared her throat and stood centerstage. “The Lycan King is coming to our pack.” She announced and every single person present gasped, including me. “Alpha Liam expects all of us to prepare for a grand feast. No mistakes. No delays.” Her next words blurred in my mind as I became awestruck. The Lycan King was coming here? I’d never seen the Lycan King before and it filled with an odd sense of trepidation. It was said that he was built like a mountain and could lift a building on his back. Why was he coming to our small pack? At that, Head maid’s voice pierced into my thoughts, “...the King is searching for a mate. Alpha Liam said if the King chose a mate from our pack, it would elevate us all and secure us a spot as royalty!” A bitter smile curled my lips at their naivety. Liam was a selfish alpha and his desperation for power was his only motivation. He didn’t care about any of them and yet they were fooled. The preparations were relentless. For two days, the pack buzzed like a disturbed hive. Every surface was scrubbed, every corner was polished. The omegas, including male and females were groomed and buying their best dresses. I just did my best to stay invisible, hiding behind tasks that kept me in the background. In another life, I may have been excited too, but I had to hide my pregnancy. On the third evening, the King arrived. Everyone gathered by the pack border as he stepped out of a gleaming black car. His scent immediately pulsed in the surrounding area, making all the women around scream and gasp. I was behind a few maids and I had to push my head between them so I could catch a glimpse of him too and when I did, my heart stopped. Because it was Grey Eyes. The man from that night. My mate. My legs locked in place and somehow, I pressed myself against the nearest wall, praying he wouldn’t see me. He was taller than I remembered, his scent even more overwhelming now that I recognized him. Those grey eyes of his swept over the gathered pack members, cold and calculating and I ducked my head, running back to the omega packhouse. •~~~• The feast was a blur of music and laughter. Omegas, deltas and even beta wolves danced, their movements practiced and enticing as they all tried to catch his attention. But he didn’t even look at them. I could feel his gaze cutting through the crowd, his nose flaring as he probably caught a whiff of my scent. I’d used a scentmask perfume but he was a Lycan…so I wasn’t safe at all. I wish I could hide somewhere but the head maids had instructed me to serve wine to the guests he came with so I just kept my head down. “Snow!” The hissed warning from another maid made me flinch and jerk my head up. My heart crashed into my stomach as I realized my brother was glaring at me from across the room where he sat next to the king. He was shooting daggers at me as if he didn’t want me here. I barely had time to leave before a hush fell over the crowd. “I’m not interested in this,” The King’s deep voice rumbled and my core clenched, reminding me of how he’d whispered dirty words in my ears with that same voice. “I have seen my mate. Her.” I froze, every nerve in my body on high alert. He was looking at me. Oh gods. Gasps echoed through the room, followed by murmurs. Liam’s face twisted in rage and disbelief. “That one?” he sneered. “She’s just a deaf and dumb, a fucking runt. Snow can’t be your mate. She’s not even worthy to lick the stain off your shoe. Your majesty maybe–” The king’s growl silenced Liam. it was low and promised a world of violence. “You dare question me?” His grabbed Liam by the throat, flinging him across the feast table. I was sure everyone was just as shocked as I was, gaping at the King. Liam’s face turned purple and he clutched at his throat as he tried to stand up from the mess of various dishes that had toppled all over his head from the broken feast table. But when the King glared at him, Liam let out a pitiful whine and remained on his knees. His head bowed in forced submission. Without another word, Lycan King strode towards me. I stepped back, heart hammering against my chest, but there was nowhere to run. His hand closed firmly around my wrist and he pulled me through the quiet, stunned crowd. •~~~• The door to his private room slammed shut behind us and I tripped, barely catching myself on the edge of a chair. My blood was roaring so loud that I wondered helplessly if the king could hear. “Did you think you could run, Kitten?” He bared his teeth at me, grey eyes almost black. “That night, after I fucked you, I had to go away on business. But when I returned to that room, you had disappeared. Why did you leave the Hallow pack?” He’d come back for me… I shook my head, not knowing how to explain to him that it wasn’t my pack. My entire body shook, caught between fear and the undeniable pull of the mate bond. He took a step closer, crowding me against the wall. “I saw it, Snow. you were going to kill yourself that night. Why?” His voice was cold, but there was something else beneath it. Anger. Frustration. My eyes darted to the side but he slammed his fist into the wall, mere inches from my head. The entire thing cracked, making a huge dent. “Fucking respond to me, dammit!” I flinched, tears pooling in my eyes. My voice wouldn’t come even if I tried. So swallowing a choked breath, I brought my hands out and slowly signed. ‘I can’t speak.’ His eyes only narrowed at me. “So your alpha wasn't lying.” He pressed his nose to my neck and let out a frustrated growl. “Why the fuck can't I scent you?” Trembling, I held his gaze and mouthed. ‘I used a mask.’ His eyes darkened with rage and he wrapped his fingers around my throat. “Were you trying to hide from me, huh?” No, I lied, shaking my head as I struggled to breath. He released my throat and pointed to the bathroom. "Go. Get rid of that fucking mask. Now." I obeyed and scurried away, locking myself in the bathroom. I quickly washed off the scent mask from my neck and returned to the room, my heart pounding in my chest. As soon as I emerged, he lunged at me and buried his nose into my neck. He inhaled deeply, like a drunk man and his chest rumbled with a growl. "Ah, fuck." His voice was guttural. "Your scent is exquisite. Never use a fucking scent block again, okay?" I could only nod in response. He terrified me. "I would take you back to my pack right now but it's too late to travel." He hissed, still licking and sucking on my neck. "You're coming with me tomorrow." My eyes widened in a panic and I found the strength to push him away or maybe he let me shove him Either way, I mouthed. NO! I'M NOT GOING! Nobody ever wanted runts like me so I knew he was taking me to his pack to make me his slave. The devil I knew here was better than an angel I didn't.Snow’s P.O.V His hand tangled into my hair this time and he yanked it tight. “I wasn’t asking, Snow.” Trapped beneath his towering frame, I trembled, searching his face with wide eyes. He looked angry and that rage in his gaze felt too familiar–like the other Alphas who hurt me and took just because they could. My stomach knotted in fear and it overrode very rational thought. If I didn’t satisfy the Alpha, he might hurt me badly. I had a baby in my stomach. I couldn’t let him beat me to death. So holding his gaze, I dropped to my knees and my hands reached for his belt, fumbling with the buckle. If I submitted and gave him my mouth for him to fuck it, maybe he wouldn’t hurt me. That always worked with the other Alphas. But the King’s body went rigid. A sharp curse tore from his lips, and he caught my wrists, yanking my hands away. “Stop!” His voice cracked like a whip. I went still, blood pounding in my ears. “I can smell your fucking terror, Snow!”He bit out, eyes bl
Roman’s P.O.V I paced the room, the rug beneath my boots bearing the brunt of my aggression. My wolf prowled restlessly in my mind, mirroring my unease. I’d barely been able to catch a wink of sleep through the night as all I could think of was how timid and fearful Snow was. I was the Lycan King and it was no secret that I needed a powerful Luna to rule with me but clearly, Snow was anything but powerful. Last night, she had gone as white as sheets when I’d pinned her to the wall. Granted, my wolf could sometimes be domineering and even drove strong alphas to their knees, so an Omega, like Snow stood no chance. But what confused and infuriated me was how quick she had been to drop to her knees, her hands fumbling for my belt. She’d looked up at me with those wide, terrified eyes, and I’d felt like a monster. Why did she think the only way to placate me was by pleasuring me? Despite being the Lycan King and being cooped up in my office for days poring over documents to find solution
Roman’s P.O.VThe blade cut through her palm, the sound of skin splitting far too loud in the tense silence of the room. But even though Snow didn’t flinch, I felt the pain that sliced through her. It took everything in me not to stop the entire thing before it even started.Soon Liam followed, slicing his own hand. The sickly scent of his blood filled the air, and it was sour and offensive compared to my mate’s sweetness. As he roughly pressed her palm to the wall and then replaced the blood print with his, Snow’s body began to glow faintly, strange lines of light crawling over her skin. My fist clenched and I lurched forward but an arm in my path stopped me and a voice said. “You can’t go to her now, Your Majesty.”Gritting my teeth, I could only stand back and watch as the glow flickered, and then dimmed. I watched as Liam’s lips curled back and he growled. “By the authority of the moon goddess and as her alpha, I sever the ties that bind Snow to this family, to this land, and to t
Snow’s P.O.VThe car rumbled softly as it sped along the dirt road and the car windows were wound up fully to prevent us from inhaling all that dust. I sat quietly, my fingers clutching the hem of my dress as I tried to stop the trembling that refused to leave my body.Roman was sitting beside me and his enormous frame dwarfed the space, making the vehicle feel far too small. The Lycan King…my mate. Every time I echoed this in my head, it sounded ridiculously unbelievable. I was leaving my pack for the first time in my life to start a new life with the freaking Lycan King who has shown me nothing more than kindness. Goddess, if this was a dream, just trap me in it forever.Swallowing a lump in my throat, I stole a glance at him. I’d never seen a jawline as hard and sharp as his. And whenever he was clenching it like he was right now, it looked like it could cut diamond. My throat bobbed again as I remembered the way he’d torn through Liam’s guards at the border. I supposed that was wh
Roman’s P.O.VWhen I set sail two weeks ago, looking for the omega I’d spent the night with during the mating ceremony, I actually had zero hopes of finding her. Omegas, especially ones without a wolf had a very slim chance of survival in brutal werewolf packs. Anything could happen to them if their Alpha wasn’t the type that was fond of Omegas and they were subjected to the utmost cruelty. So finding Snow in the midnight pack had been nothing short of a miraculous surprise and I still couldn’t believe she was returning with me. The delicate, silent omega.People might argue I had an ulterior motive, accepting the weakness of my mate the way she was and I wouldn’t say they were entirely wrong. Why would the Lycan king accept a mute runt for his mate when he had hundreds of powerful female wolves who would actually benefit the kingdom politically and financially? Brows would be raised, I’m sure but only people in my inner circle would truly understand why my mate was important.Contrar
Roman’s P.O.VThe warmth had totally fled from Snow’s body. I held her, my hands trembling with helplessness I had never really known except the day my blood was cursed. No matter how much of my cursed lycan blood I desperately forced past her lips, she remained deathly still, her once-soft skin turning a sickly shade of blue. I pressed my forehead to hers, inhaling a scent that was already fading, slipping through my grasp like fucking smoke. FUCK!The one thing the gods had given me that should have been mine to protect…that could have healed me. And I failed. My grip on her delicate form tightened. The coppery scent of her blood still clung to the air, mingling with the salt of the sea and my rage. That fucking vampire. The bastard had snuck aboard and drained her. And for what? I haven’t had anything to do with vampires for a long time. The last time we discussed was years ago when they were coming to some of the packs on the outskirts of my kingdom and stealing omegas to drain an
Roman’s P.O.V“What the fuck did you just say?” My fingers tightened next to a fists beside me but Eric didn’t even flinch. He met my glare with eerie calmness, his icy features unreadable as he repeated himself. “She’s my mate.”A growl tore from my throat, vibrating the stone walls of this goddamn castle. No fucking way. Snow was mine. MINE. I didn’t drag her out of that miserable excuse of a pack, rip through everyone who’s ever hurt her and bring her all the way here for some bloodsucker to claim her. Eric, the so called king of the vampires, was fucking delusional.“I don’t give a shit what you think.” I snarled, stepping towards him with SNow who was still lying pale and unmoving in my arms. “She;s mine and I’m only here because of what your kind did to her. And you are going to fucking fix her and we’ll be on our way.”Something flashed in Eric’s crimson eyes, and then befroe I oculd react, he moved.Once second, he was standing ten-feet away from me. Roman’s P.O.VThe world cracked open beneath my feet. She was pregnant. A strangled sound clawed up my throat and I barely held back the bile rising in my mouth. My dead mate was carrying my child. And I didn't know. I hadn’t protected her.A shudder wracked through me. My fingers trembled as I latched onto Eric’s lapels, shaking him hard enough to snap his bones were he human. “Save her!” I rasped, voice barely human. “Please, I’ll give you anything you fucking want.”Eric’s expression didn’t change. It remained cold and detached, barely fucking blinking. It was as if I were talking to a rock. How could he truly be her mate and be this nonchalant? Vampires truly were cold-hearted assholes. Suddenly, with an almost bored slowness, Eric peeled my hands off his jacket lapels. “She’s been dead too long,” he said flatly. “There’s nothing I can do.”No.No.Agony detonated in my chest and a sound I didn’t recognize ripped from my throat. Snow's P.O.VAfter breakfast, the council elder named Maverick cornered me just outside the hall that lead to my room I had sensed him before I saw him—especially his stare pressing into my back like a blade. The moment I turned, he was there and the lights casted his sharp, aging features in deep shadows.“You should leave him.”His voice was very cold and I instantly realized it wasn't a suggestion. It was a warning.I clenched my hands into fists, my nails digging into my palms. He studied me with an expression that made my skin crawl. There was no outright hostility, no raised voice or physical threat—just a quiet, suffocating certainty that he knew better than me. That he had already decided I was unworthy.“You are not fit to be his mate,” he said, his tone matter-of-fact. “And if you remain by his side, you will only lead him to ruin.”The words landed heavier than they should have.I swallowed, my throat dry.I had already known I wasn’t what they wanted. That was obvious fr
Roman's P.O.VShe entered the dining hall like a dream made flesh, a vision draped in deep blue silk. The fabric clung to her, kissed every curve, and yet, it wasn’t the dress that made my cock harden—it was **her**.Gone was the timid little maid who used to keep her head down and her shoulders hunched. Now, she walked with an unspoken power, an effortless grace that set my wolf on edge. He growled in my mind, **demanding**, *Mine. Ours.*I silenced him with a snarl. This was dangerous. Not just because she was **too beautiful**, but because of the secrets I carried. The ones I **could never** let her uncover. She didn’t know the truth about her resurrection, about what it had cost. She didn’t know the **psycho vampire king** who had brought her back only did so because he wanted something far more valuable in return. Our child.I had felt the shift in her the moment she took her first breath after dying. I had sensed the faint, fragile heartbeat nestled inside her womb. I had watche
Snow’s P.O.VThe castle was unlike anything I had ever seen. It wasn’t just the sheer size of it–it was the way it loomed into the sky, making it seem endless. Towers spiral high, their pointed spires cutting into the sky while massive arched windows added to the regal feelingMy pack had been simple, built from timber and stone with dirt roads winding through the countryside. Here the cobbled paths glistened as if polished daily, leading to grand staircases that swept through the loooming doors carved with the sigial of the Lycan Royalty. Statues of great wolves lined the entrance and Roman steode beside me, gripping my wrist tightly. His warmth burned through my skin, grounding me as my legs trembled beneath me. I didn’t belong here. The sheer wealth and opulence pressed down on me, making my throat tighten. I felt small and insignificant, like a stray dog dragged into a world that was far too dreamy for someone like me.He led me down a hall and then the doors swung open.Servants
I scrambled to shove the pregnancy test stick deep into the shirt top pocket, before hstily unlocking the bathroom door. Roman’s towering frame filled the doorway and he’d been clearly waiting for me a while. Once i fully opened the door, his eyes swept over me and his frown deepened.Panic surged in my chest and I quickly looked away from him. Had he seen the test? Before I could retreat, his large hand cupped my face, tilting my head up so his piercing gaze locked onto mine. “Why are you crying?”Oh.I lifted trembling fingers to my cheeks, feeling the sticky remants of blood tears dried into flaky streaks. A weak smile tugged at my lips as I wiped at them. ‘Nothing.’ I mouthed at him, shaking my head. ‘I was just overwhlemed.’His eyes narrowed at me and his frown didn’t fade, but the Lycan King didn’t press me further and instead offered me his hand.I hesitated slightly before placing my smaller ones in his and his fingers curled around mine. Holding, his gaze, I begin to slowly
Snow’s P.O.VI didn’t know how to swim.Frigid water rushed into my lungs, burning as my legs kicked desperately against the pull of the water, but I couldn’t reach the surface. Every gasp that left my throat only pulled in more water, suffocating. I was going to die. Again.I tried to scream for help but it was all in my head as my body convulsed. The world above me became nothing but distorted silver light, growing fainter as I sank. My heartbeat pounded in my skull, but then it began slowing, slowing. And then darkness.I awoke to warmth. Soft leather beneath me and a steady pressure around my shoulders. My lashes fluttered open and it was as if my vision was swimming in and out of focus. Dim lights and the faint hum of an engine. A strong scent of pine and leather kept swirling around my brain. And it was dangerously familiar.Wait. That scent belonged to Roman.I jerked upright right then only to find myself cradled in Roman’s lap. It didn’t seem like I was in the cabin anymore
Snow’s P.O.VFire.It raged inside me, burning through my veins like molten lava, scorching every nerves in its path. I had no mouth to scream through, no voice to beg for it to stop, but inside my head, I shrieked. Louder than I ever had.My body jerked and convulsed. arms flailing wildly, legs trashing against something soft–sheets, maybe? and my back arching as if something inside me was trying to tear me and leap out. The pain was excruciating, an inferno licking every inch of my skin. It felt like my insides were melting, reshaping into something wrong but no matter how much I writhed and begged in my mind for it to stop. It didn’t.I fought against it as hard as I could. I screamed, soundlessly, but all of a sudden, my lungs seized and my muscles locked. Then all at once, I couldn’t move again. The fire burning me alive also vanished and the pain disappeared so suddenly it left a void in its wake, like a terrifying absence of feeling that made my soul ache. My back had been arch
Roman’s P.O.VThat bastard thought he could take what was mine. Driving away from the vamp’s castle, rage seethed beneath my skin, simmering like a storm barely held in check. Snow lay lifeless in the backseat, her face pale and her scent weaker than before. And that leech had the audacity to demand my child in exchange for her life. My fucking child. The mere thought of it sent another fresh wave of fury rolling through my veins. I should have torn Eric apart right there. Should have ripped his smug, bloodsucking head from his shoulders and burned his entire kingdom to the ground. But that was just calling for a war neither of our kingdoms was prepared for.I gripped the wheel tighter, my claws nearly breaking through the leather. I felt my pulse hammering in my skull as I manuevered the car through the narrow mountain path leading to the woods. There was only one alternative left, one last gamble to bring her back. A witch–one I had cast out of my kingdom five years ago. If she sti
