Roman’s P.O.V
The blade cut through her palm, the sound of skin splitting far too loud in the tense silence of the room. But even though Snow didn’t flinch, I felt the pain that sliced through her. It took everything in me not to stop the entire thing before it even started.Soon Liam followed, slicing his own hand. The sickly scent of his blood filled the air, and it was sour and offensive compared to my mate’s sweetness. As he roughly pressed her palm to the wall and then replaced the blood print with his, Snow’s body began to glow faintly, strange lines of light crawling over her skin. My fist clenched and I lurched forward but an arm in my path stopped me and a voice said. “You can’t go to her now, Your Majesty.”
Gritting my teeth, I could only stand back and watch as the glow flickered, and then dimmed. I watched as Liam’s lips curled back and he growled. “By the authority of the moon goddess and as her alpha, I sever the ties that bind Snow to this family, to this land, and to the moonlight pack. From this moment on, she is a packless Rogue.”
Snow gasped, her small body trembling. A weak, broken sound slipped from her throat–half a cry, half a whimper. She crumpled forward.
I was at her side before her knees could hit the ground.
“Easy kitten,” I murmured and cradled her against me. The tail of my shirt grew damp from her blood and the sharp metallic scent almost drove me half-mad with the urge to feed her my blood so her deep knife-cut could heal faster.
But I couldn’t.
The curse I carried wasn’t something I could ignore, no matter how much I wanted to shield her from pain. My blood would destroy her. The thought made me feel fucking helpless.
Growling under my breath, I ripped a piece of cloth from my sleeve and pressed it to her wound. The blood seeped through fast, staining my hands as I tied it off. Every second of it enraged me.
Just then, Liam handed one of my guards a small vial filled with blood. “Sprinkle this at the border before you leave,” he muttered. “It’ll mark the renouncement.”
I didn’t acknowledge him. My eyes stayed locked on Snow’s pale. She was fragile in my arms, but anytime our eyes met, all I saw was complete trust. And that trust was heavier than any burden I’d ever carried.
Finally, I stood up, still holding her close as my gaze flicked to the asshole LIam. “You are dismissed.”
He bowed his head and then slunk out of the room, his guards trailing behind him.
When we were alone, I turned my attention back to Snow. Tiny beads of sweat were on her face and despite the fact that she’d just woken up, she looked utterly exhausted. “We’re leaving now. The car’s ready.”
I expected her to be excited, but instead, she froze and her wide hazel eyes darted to mine.
“Hey, hey, what’s wrong?” I cradled her face, narrowing my eyes as she shook her head, her trembling hands fumbling for words she couldn’t speak. When I arched a brow in confusion, she pointed toward the door and then back at herself.
“You want something,” i said, watching her carefully. And she nodded.
“What is it?”
Her hands moved again, broken signs that barely made any sense. Frustration boiled under my skin. “Snow!” I snapped. “We will fix this–your ability to talk or hell, we’ll coach you to sign better. But for now, slowly tell me. What the hell do you want?”
Her lips parted and she mouthed, “I need to go to my room. There’s something I can’t leave behind.”
“Oh,” I mulled over her words and finally nodded. “You won’t be long, would you? I’ll be waiting for you in the car.”
Her face crumpled immediately and tears welled in her eyes. Oh fuck. Did I say something wrong? She clung to my first, her tiny hands gripping the fabric like I was her lifeline.
Slowly, I covered her hands with mine. “Do you want me to come with you?”
She nodded, so small and hesitant, that it made the hairs at the back of my neck stand on end.
“Does someone hurt you in your room?” My voice was steady, but inside, my wolf snarled for blood.
Her cheeks flushed, and she lowered her lashes, looking away from me, but the answer was clear enough.
“Who?” I demanded.
She hesitated again, but when I let Liga through, pinning his Lycan dominant gaze on her, she shuddered, and mouthed, ‘Okay, I’ll show you.’
I didn’t let go of her hand as she led me out of my quarters. The midnight pack had always been a shitshow, but the deeper we left the Alpha packhouse, venturing towards the omega packhouse, the worse it got.
The air grew stale and the walls were crumbling on its own. This shoudln’t be a lived-in house. By the gods!
Snow’s steps faltered as we reached a doorway under a staircase and I looked at her. Her shoulders squared before she opened the door. But the first thing that hit me was the stench. Damp wood, mildew and the sharp tang of rat piss.
This was a fucking broom closet.
And this was where my mate slept.
My chest tightened and rage flooded my veins. Liga who was already pissed because he couldn’t reach our mate’s wolf surged forward, growling, ready to destroy everything in this goddam pack.
I didn’t even realize Snow had moved towards me until I felt a small hand pressing against my chest where my heart was jackhammering wildly against my ribs. That small, calloused touch stopped me cold, her warmth cutting through the red haze of fury in my mind.
Sucking in a sharp breath, I covered her hand with mine, grounding myself. I needed to control my temper whenever my new mate was near. She was very skittish as it was and I knew her daring to comfort and touch me took a lot from her. I could see it in the mix of terror and surprise in her gaze. The thought crossed my mind again and my teeth clenched. Snow wouldn’t survive as my queen. Yet I couldn’t let her go.
When she stepped away, I allowed my eyes to move around the room before settling back on her. At this time she had moved to the wall next to a ratty, threadbare mattress on the floor. Her fingers traced invisible circles over the brick wall, before pressing against a hidden panel.
A compartment suddenly opened and she reached in, pulling out a silver locket and clutching it like it was the most precious thing in the world. After pressing a soft kiss to the locket, she slipped it around her neck and stood in front of me. And then she turned around and swept her hair off her neck. Taking the hint, I helped her fix the clasp of her necklace and she faced me again, her big eyes full of shy gratitude. I’d never met anyone as genuine and pure as Snow. all the women in my life back home were calculative Deltas or female alphas, fit to rule.
The first thing I’d have to train her to mask is that look–so trusting, so fucking sweet whenever she looked at me. Although it made my wolf quiet since we entered this shithole, it would make her an easy target.
“We’re done here,” I growled, taking her hand again and leading her out of the packhouse,
The fresh air outside was a relief, but my anger simmered just beneath the surface. When we reached my car entourage outside the midnight pack, I stopped and made her look at me. “Who made you live like that?”
She hesitated, but when she saw I wasn’t about to back down on that, a sigh left her shoulders slumped. “The head maiden, but it doesn’t matter anymore. I am coming with you. It’s my past now, and you are my future.” Her mouth slowly enunciated the words.
She was right about one thing. I was her future, but I’d be damned if I let her tormentors go unpunished. Right now, I’d leave her with the impression that all is well with her pack but as soon as we got back to the royal castle, I’d make sure everyone here pays for what they did to her.
Just as I opened my mouth to falsely assure her, a low snarl cut through the air.
I turned around to see Liam and his guards surrounding the car, their eyes locked on my mate.
“Snow,” Lim growled in a venomous tone. “Don’t go with him or I’ll make sure you regret this.”
Snow’s P.O.VThe car rumbled softly as it sped along the dirt road and the car windows were wound up fully to prevent us from inhaling all that dust. I sat quietly, my fingers clutching the hem of my dress as I tried to stop the trembling that refused to leave my body.Roman was sitting beside me and his enormous frame dwarfed the space, making the vehicle feel far too small. The Lycan King…my mate. Every time I echoed this in my head, it sounded ridiculously unbelievable. I was leaving my pack for the first time in my life to start a new life with the freaking Lycan King who has shown me nothing more than kindness. Goddess, if this was a dream, just trap me in it forever.Swallowing a lump in my throat, I stole a glance at him. I’d never seen a jawline as hard and sharp as his. And whenever he was clenching it like he was right now, it looked like it could cut diamond. My throat bobbed again as I remembered the way he’d torn through Liam’s guards at the border. I supposed that was wh
Roman’s P.O.VWhen I set sail two weeks ago, looking for the omega I’d spent the night with during the mating ceremony, I actually had zero hopes of finding her. Omegas, especially ones without a wolf had a very slim chance of survival in brutal werewolf packs. Anything could happen to them if their Alpha wasn’t the type that was fond of Omegas and they were subjected to the utmost cruelty. So finding Snow in the midnight pack had been nothing short of a miraculous surprise and I still couldn’t believe she was returning with me. The delicate, silent omega.People might argue I had an ulterior motive, accepting the weakness of my mate the way she was and I wouldn’t say they were entirely wrong. Why would the Lycan king accept a mute runt for his mate when he had hundreds of powerful female wolves who would actually benefit the kingdom politically and financially? Brows would be raised, I’m sure but only people in my inner circle would truly understand why my mate was important.Contrar
Roman’s P.O.VThe warmth had totally fled from Snow’s body. I held her, my hands trembling with helplessness I had never really known except the day my blood was cursed. No matter how much of my cursed lycan blood I desperately forced past her lips, she remained deathly still, her once-soft skin turning a sickly shade of blue. I pressed my forehead to hers, inhaling a scent that was already fading, slipping through my grasp like fucking smoke. FUCK!The one thing the gods had given me that should have been mine to protect…that could have healed me. And I failed. My grip on her delicate form tightened. The coppery scent of her blood still clung to the air, mingling with the salt of the sea and my rage. That fucking vampire. The bastard had snuck aboard and drained her. And for what? I haven’t had anything to do with vampires for a long time. The last time we discussed was years ago when they were coming to some of the packs on the outskirts of my kingdom and stealing omegas to drain an
Roman’s P.O.V“What the fuck did you just say?” My fingers tightened next to a fists beside me but Eric didn’t even flinch. He met my glare with eerie calmness, his icy features unreadable as he repeated himself. “She’s my mate.”A growl tore from my throat, vibrating the stone walls of this goddamn castle. No fucking way. Snow was mine. MINE. I didn’t drag her out of that miserable excuse of a pack, rip through everyone who’s ever hurt her and bring her all the way here for some bloodsucker to claim her. Eric, the so called king of the vampires, was fucking delusional.“I don’t give a shit what you think.” I snarled, stepping towards him with SNow who was still lying pale and unmoving in my arms. “She;s mine and I’m only here because of what your kind did to her. And you are going to fucking fix her and we’ll be on our way.”Something flashed in Eric’s crimson eyes, and then befroe I oculd react, he moved.Once second, he was standing ten-feet away from me. The next he was right in
Roman’s P.O.VThe world cracked open beneath my feet. She was pregnant. A strangled sound clawed up my throat and I barely held back the bile rising in my mouth. My dead mate was carrying my child. And I didn't know. I hadn’t protected her.A shudder wracked through me. My fingers trembled as I latched onto Eric’s lapels, shaking him hard enough to snap his bones were he human. “Save her!” I rasped, voice barely human. “Please, I’ll give you anything you fucking want.”Eric’s expression didn’t change. It remained cold and detached, barely fucking blinking. It was as if I were talking to a rock. How could he truly be her mate and be this nonchalant? Vampires truly were cold-hearted assholes. Suddenly, with an almost bored slowness, Eric peeled my hands off his jacket lapels. “She’s been dead too long,” he said flatly. “There’s nothing I can do.”No.No.Agony detonated in my chest and a sound I didn’t recognize ripped from my throat. The mere thought of it sent another fresh wave of fury rolling through my veins. I should have torn Eric apart right there. Should have ripped his smug, bloodsucking head from his shoulders and burned his entire kingdom to the ground. But that was just calling for a war neither of our kingdoms was prepared for.I gripped the wheel tighter, my claws nearly breaking through the leather. Snow’s P.O.VFire.It raged inside me, burning through my veins like molten lava, scorching every nerves in its path. I had no mouth to scream through, no voice to beg for it to stop, but inside my head, I shrieked. Louder than I ever had.My body jerked and convulsed. arms flailing wildly, legs trashing against something soft–sheets, maybe? and my back arching as if something inside me was trying to tear me and leap out. The pain was excruciating, an inferno licking every inch of my skin. It felt like my insides were melting, reshaping into something wrong but no matter how much I writhed and begged in my mind for it to stop. It didn’t.I fought against it as hard as I could. I screamed, soundlessly, but all of a sudden, my lungs seized and my muscles locked. Then all at once, I couldn’t move again. The fire burning me alive also vanished and the pain disappeared so suddenly it left a void in its wake, like a terrifying absence of feeling that made my soul ache. Snow’s P.O.VI didn’t know how to swim.Frigid water rushed into my lungs, burning as my legs kicked desperately against the pull of the water, but I couldn’t reach the surface. Every gasp that left my throat only pulled in more water, suffocating. I was going to die. Again.I tried to scream for help but it was all in my head as my body convulsed. The world above me became nothing but distorted silver light, growing fainter as I sank. My heartbeat pounded in my skull, but then it began slowing, slowing. And then darkness.I awoke to warmth. Soft leather beneath me and a steady pressure around my shoulders. My lashes fluttered open and it was as if my vision was swimming in and out of focus. Dim lights and the faint hum of an engine. A strong scent of pine and leather kept swirling around my brain. And it was dangerously familiar.Wait. That scent belonged to Roman.I jerked upright right then only to find myself cradled in Roman’s lap. It didn’t seem like I was in the cabin anymore
Snow's P.O.VAfter breakfast, the council elder named Maverick cornered me just outside the hall that lead to my room I had sensed him before I saw him—especially his stare pressing into my back like a blade. The moment I turned, he was there and the lights casted his sharp, aging features in deep shadows.“You should leave him.”His voice was very cold and I instantly realized it wasn't a suggestion. It was a warning.I clenched my hands into fists, my nails digging into my palms. He studied me with an expression that made my skin crawl. There was no outright hostility, no raised voice or physical threat—just a quiet, suffocating certainty that he knew better than me. That he had already decided I was unworthy.“You are not fit to be his mate,” he said, his tone matter-of-fact. “And if you remain by his side, you will only lead him to ruin.”The words landed heavier than they should have.I swallowed, my throat dry.I had already known I wasn’t what they wanted. That was obvious fr
Roman's P.O.VShe entered the dining hall like a dream made flesh, a vision draped in deep blue silk. The fabric clung to her, kissed every curve, and yet, it wasn’t the dress that made my cock harden—it was **her**.Gone was the timid little maid who used to keep her head down and her shoulders hunched. Now, she walked with an unspoken power, an effortless grace that set my wolf on edge. He growled in my mind, **demanding**, *Mine. Ours.*I silenced him with a snarl. This was dangerous. Not just because she was **too beautiful**, but because of the secrets I carried. The ones I **could never** let her uncover. She didn’t know the truth about her resurrection, about what it had cost. Snow’s P.O.VThe castle was unlike anything I had ever seen. It wasn’t just the sheer size of it–it was the way it loomed into the sky, making it seem endless. Towers spiral high, their pointed spires cutting into the sky while massive arched windows added to the regal feelingMy pack had been simple, built from timber and stone with dirt roads winding through the countryside. Here the cobbled paths glistened as if polished daily, leading to grand staircases that swept through the loooming doors carved with the sigial of the Lycan Royalty. Statues of great wolves lined the entrance and Roman steode beside me, gripping my wrist tightly. His warmth burned through my skin, grounding me as my legs trembled beneath me. I didn’t belong here. The sheer wealth and opulence pressed down on me, making my throat tighten. I scrambled to shove the pregnancy test stick deep into the shirt top pocket, before hstily unlocking the bathroom door. Roman’s towering frame filled the doorway and he’d been clearly waiting for me a while. Once i fully opened the door, his eyes swept over me and his frown deepened.Panic surged in my chest and I quickly looked away from him. Had he seen the test? Before I could retreat, his large hand cupped my face, tilting my head up so his piercing gaze locked onto mine. “Why are you crying?”Oh.I lifted trembling fingers to my cheeks, feeling the sticky remants of blood tears dried into flaky streaks. A weak smile tugged at my lips as I wiped at them. ‘Nothing.’ I mouthed at him, shaking my head. ‘I was just overwhlemed.’His eyes narrowed at me and his frown didn’t fade, but the Lycan King didn’t press me further and instead offered me his hand.I hesitated slightly before placing my smaller ones in his and his fingers curled around mine.
