The rain was pelting down so hard, Mia wrapped her coat tighter around her skinny body. Dragging the suitcase from the backseat and reaching for the shopping she had just bought, she locked the car up and made her way to the hotel. It did not look perfect by any means, but it was far better than sleeping in the car. At least she could have a hot bath and a decent night sleep before continuing her journey.
The hotel looked old and abandoned but the sign outside the door read open for buiness sl she took her chances. Pushing the creaky door open, a bell above her head sounded causing a lady at the front desk to turn from the book she was engrossed in. Mia immediately felt uncomfortable as the women eyed her suspiciously. “Hello, can I help you?” She huffed noticing the suitcase Mia was holding in her hand. Mia stood silent for a moment trying to gather her thoughts. “Do you want a room or are you just going to stand there all night?” The woman sighed and rolled her eyes as she stood up from her leather chair and came towards Mia. The woman was wearing a black blazer and knee length skirt along with black slip on shoes. She was around fifty years old and had her hair tied back in a neat pony tail. On her blazer she wore a name tag that Mia noticed said Maria. “Good evening, I was wondering if you have a room for the night, please?.” The woman was taken aback by Mia’s politeness. She nodded and gestured for her to come on in. “We have a room with en-suite. I will take you to it. Then perhaps you would like to join me for dinner, since it’s a quiet night?” The woman smiled warmly at Mia. “My name is Maria. Forgive my frosty welcoming but we don’t get many guests here at the moment since, well never mind. It’s nice to have you.” Mia shook her hand and smiled back wondering what it would be like to have a proper job like this woman had. Your own money and freedom. Nobody to boss you around and demand all the time. “Thanks.” Maria nodded as she showed Mia to her room. It was on the second floor and the lift was out of order so the steps were the only way up. Mia did not mind because she was just excited for a bath and a good sleep. Since she had been driving for so long now and felt like she deserved a good rest. “Well I will let you settle in. There is lasagne for dinner if you like that.” Maria told her guest kindly. Mia grinned and nodded. The last time she had eaten something decent like that was probably months ago when her stepfather had been nice for a change. He was rarely nice to her, mainly when he had bought a woman home for the night and wanted to impress her. “Maria?” Mia called after the woman. “Yes dear?” Maria smiled. Mia shifted from one foot to the other not sure what to say but then decided against it. “Umm, thanks for your help. You have been very kind to me.” Maria nodded and closed the door behind her, leaving Mia to relax for a little while. Mia grabbed a fresh pair of tracksuit bottoms, clean underwear, socks and a jumper. Then she switched on the shower and jumped in. The feel of the hot water on her body was like heaven for her. She let the water cover her entire body before lathering body wash all over her and then washing her long hair. Rinsing it out she stood there for a few moments and then reached for a towel. She wrapped it around her body and switched off the shower. Walking into the bedroom, she sat on the edge of the bed and started to brush her long hair. She forgot how great it felt to be fresh and clean. Drying herself she pulled on her clean clothes and then made her way back down the stairs to the dining hall. Maria was already waiting with two hot steaming plates of lasagne and two big glasses of coco cola. Mia’s eyes widened at the sight of it, it smelt delicious and her tummy rumbled loudly in desperation as she made her way towards the table. “I trust you enjoyed your shower.” Maria chuckled to which Mia nodded with such enthusiasm. Maria could not help but feel a little sorry for the young girl sitting in front of her, something about her spelt a rough life. “So, what brings you here?” Maria dared to ask as Mia shovelled a forkful of food into her mouth. “I just needed a fresh start.” Mia told her, she did not want to go into to much detail. She barely knew the woman despite her kindness so far. “Anywhere in particular?” Maria continued to question her. She knew Mia was not telling her the whole truth but she was starting to feel a little concerned at how nervous and hungry Mia seemed to be. “No, just wherever the road takes me.” Mia replied pushing her empty plate away and sipping her drink. She felt full and satisfied from that lovely meal and was grateful to Maria. “Do your parents know where you are?” Maria looked curious and Mia’s heart sunk. She did not want to have to explain her situation. What if Maria sent her back there or worse, they came for her. A part of her wanted to get up and run to the car and disappear while the other side of her said it would be fine. Maria did not seem untrustworthy, but then she barely knew her. “Mia, I can smell you’re fear and see how nervous you are. I have a friend who can help you, if you are in trouble.” Maria grabbed both of her hands and assured her that she could trust her. Mia was uncertain but eventually she dropped her shoulders and told Maria everything that had happened. Maria was shocked upon hearing Mia’s story. Who the hell were these people! Her blood was boiling inside and she wanted to rip them apart for causing so much pain and upset to this poor innocent young life. “Mia, everything will be ok. My friends, Fiona and David. They will look after you. I feel that you will fit in perfectly with them. You know, you’re a rare kind of special .. well anyway, please let me introduce you to them first thing tomorrow morning.” Maria said. Mia instantly agreed and surprisingly she felt a lot better for having let it all out. Finally someone who believed her and wanted to help. But, she could not help but wonder what Maria meant when she said Mia was a rare kind of special. That night Mia fell right to sleep for the first time in ages. No nightmares or anyone trying to break into her room.Jacob stared out of the window as his driver pulled up to the packhouse. He was bored, fed up and most of all tired of all these responsibilities. If only his father had left the alpha position to his brother, Kane instead. He was stronger, had his mate by his side and everyone liked and respected Kane. The only reason Jacob had been handed down the reins of the alpha status was because he was the first born son to his parents, Alpha Gerald and Luna Velma. Jacob loved the power he had but hated the responsibility of dealing with everything by himself. Of course his Beta Nigel was by his side but he did not have a luna. That was the last thing he had wanted. Sleeping with women and getting rid of them the next morning had always made him happy. He did not want to be tied to one woman when he could have as many as he desired. They literally threw themselves at him as it was, although Jacob was not stupid. He knew it was because they wanted the Luna title for themselves. Jacob was tall,
The sun was shining the next morning when Mia woke up from her well needed sleep. She yawned and stretched her body out in the double bed. It felt so good to sleep in a comfortable bed with clean sheets. It took a few moments for her to realise where she was and then she smiled to herself. Pulling the covers off her, she went to the toilet, washed her hands and stared at her reflection in the mirror. Grabbing her toothbrush she brushed her teeth and then decided what to wear for the day. She chose a pair of black leggings, white top and her old black trainers. Taking a mental note to actually go and buy herself some new clothes soon. She pulled her hair into a pony tail and picked up her new phone from the bedside unit. Mia decided that she might stay another night or two. Maria had been so welcoming and it was nice for Mia to have some friendly company. She had agreed to meet Maria’s two friends which she was looking forward to doing as she had not really had any friend
Kane and Jacob had been sat chatting for quite a while when the alarm suddenly sounded causing them both to jump into action. Jacob growled angrily as he and Kane shifted into their wolf forms. They were followed by their warrior men. They hurried into the woods around the pack border within minutes. All over were rogues. Jacob felt one try to attack his back to which he reacted by ripping his head off. Snarls and growls could be heard all around as wolves of all shapes and sizes fought each other. Quickly the rogues were defeated and destroyed. Kane and Jacob were furious that rogues had tried to attack them. “Dirty filthy rogues.” Jacob boomed angrily as he stepped on one of their heads. Kane growled in response as one of the rogues was still alive but clearly very injured. He could not get up and Kane instantly jumped and killed the rogue. “That will teach them for crossing into my pack.” Jacob laughed to his brother. Kane nodded In agreement. “Wha
Mia felt a little shy when Cherry pulled her into the garden where five of her friends were already in the pool. Loud screeches of laughter and splashing water filled Mia’s ears. One of the girls spotted them and jumped out of the sun lounger. She squealed with excitement and hugged Cherry. “Hey Selene. This is Mia. She’s the one I was telling you about.” Cherry introduced Mia and gave her friend a knowing look. Selene looked confused for a slight second then realisation dawned on her. “Oh yea, well hi Mia. I’m Selene. This is Sasha, that’s Lulu and over there are Dana and Danielle. They are twins.” Selene whispered the last part. Mia grinned and waved at the girls. They waved back and carried on splashing around the pool. Mia longed to get in and join them but she was worried they would notice she wasn’t a great swimmer. Cherry noticed her reluctance and held her hand. They sat by the edge of the pool kicking their legs in the water and chatting. “So, you going to be staying
Alpha Jacob slammed the rogue across the clearing causing him to smack into a big oak tree. The impact killed him instantly. “Damn rogues!” Jacob thundered as he made sure that they were all dead. His pack had seemed to her a lot of rogues attacking lately and he was fed up with it. They needed to learn they were not welcome on his territory. Kane rushed through the forest in his human form and stopped as soon as he saw his brother standing over the dead rogues. He was not surprised that he had defeated them on his own. He was one of the most strongest in the pack. When he was angry, he was even worse. “Brother?” Kane called to him. “Let’s go.” He gestured towards the pack house and Jacob stared at him as if only noticing him for the first time. Jacob was angry. Kane was the only one who could usually keep his brother calm. They had always been close growing up. “Fine.” Jacob growled shifting into his wolf so he would get back quicker. Kane did the same. Jacobs w
Mia had been sat out the front to clear her head, everything was getting to much now. She was in shock that Fiona knew her mother. She had not seen her since she left so many years ago. Nobody knew if she were even alive still but having had that confirmed made Mia feel so many unwanted emotions and her mind was racing with questions she needed answers to. Why would her mum leave her with those abusive people that were meant to be family. Why would she not take her with her? So many questions. Mia felt as if her head were going to burst. Fiona insisted that she never knew that Dawn had ever had a child. She was adamant that Mia had come into her life now for a reason. She was certain that it was her job to reunite Mia and her mother. Mia refused. She was scared and angry that her mother had not been there when she needed her the most. If her mother was still alive then surely she would know by now that Mia was missing? What if she went to her stepfather and said wher
Alpha Jacob stuck his nose up at the idea of a party. He did not care about that. Kane was running around like a love sick puppy helping Cherry with whatever she needed. Jacob felt disgusted by such a display of affection, he swore that he would never be like that with anyone. Abigail had come along when he needed and wanted her too and he loved the power of kicking her out when he had had enough of her. She on the other hand did not appreciate that sort of treatment, not that Jacob gave a damn what she thought or wanted. He was the alpha after all. He knew he could have any of these she wolfs. Abigail was lucky he gave her any attention. He smirked smugly to himself as he thought about how he had enjoyed having her in his office. The girl would never be his Luna. Nobody would. Jacob knew his parents were desperate for him to have a Luna and a child to hand down the reins to one day. Jacob just did not share their enthusiasm for any of that. “Jacob are you going to
“She’s not my mate.” Jacob growled as Kane pushed him to the office and slammed the door shut behind them. His wolf whimpered in his head but he pushed him away. Kane watched his brother and wondered why he was such a selfish fool. The girl was clearly scared and Jacob had frightened her. She knew nothing about the werewolf world. Her mother was half werewolf half human making Mia one of them also. She was also the future luna and needed to be respected at all costs. Jacob needed time to process it all. Kane had done the right thing to pull his brother from the situation before it got even more complicated. He decided that the best thing was to keep them apart for now, at least until Jacob had accepted his fate. “You are drunk, brother.” Kane sighed demanding he go to sleep it off and they could talk more in the morning once his head was a lot clearer. Jacob was not listening. His mind was all over the place. That girl was clumsy, she looked weak and not Luna material
The den was quiet as Mia sat in the glow of the fire, her newborn daughter nestled in her arms. The soft crackling of embers filled the room, mingling with the gentle rhythm of the baby's breathing. Jacob had stepped out for a moment, no doubt checking the perimeter of their territory, but Mia felt a sense of peace settle over her, a feeling of contentment that wrapped around her like a warm embrace. As she looked down at her sleeping child, a sense of wonder washed over her. This tiny life, so new and innocent, held within her the promise of a future filled with endless possibilities. Mia's heart swelled with love and gratitude, knowing that she and Jacob had created something truly magical together. The den door creaked open, and Jacob entered, his eyes sparkling with awe as he beheld the sight before him. He crossed the room in swift strides, dropping to his knees beside Mia and the baby, his gaze filled with adoration."She's perfect," Jacob whispered, his voice barely above a bre
The morning sun filtered through the sheer curtains, casting a warm glow over Mia's sleeping form. She stirred, slowly blinking her eyes open as the remnants of a vivid dream clung to the edges of her consciousness. A soft smile tugged at her lips as she reached out, her fingers brushing against the cool sheets beside her – Jacob must have already risen for the day.As Mia shifted to sit up, a sudden wave of nausea washed over her, causing her to clutch her stomach and squeeze her eyes shut. She took a few deep breaths, willing the queasiness to pass, but the sensation lingered, a persistent reminder that something felt... off.Frowning, Mia tried to recall if she had eaten anything unusual the previous day, but her mind came up blank. It was then that a flicker of realization began to dawn on her – the nausea, the fatigue, the subtle changes in her body that she had dismissed as mere stress.Could it be...?Her heart began to race as she mentally tallied the signs, her breath catching
Gentle beams of the morning sun pierced through the dense foliage of the forest surrounding the pack's territory, announcing the dawn of a new day. Mia awoke to the sound of birdsong, their melodic chatter a stark contrast to the emotional tumult of the previous day. Despite the visit to her mother stirring a whirlwind of feelings, there was a serene sense of hope that settled within her, soothing the raw edges of old wounds.Jacob stirred beside her, his sleepy eyes opening to meet hers. "Good morning," he murmured, his voice rough with sleep, yet filled with warmth. The bond they shared, always a palpable presence, seemed to deepen further in moments like these, grounding and uplifting Mia simultaneously."Good morning," Mia replied, her hand reaching out to trace the contour of Jacob’s jaw. Their shared look conveyed not just love but a mutual understanding of everything they had been through and the journey that lay ahead.Today, however, was not just another day. It marked the beg
In the vast expanse where the untamed wilderness met the fringes of civilization, the Horizon pack carved out its sanctuary. It was to this place that Abigail found herself banished, her past a shadow that clung to her steps, heavy with regret and defiance. The pack, under the leadership of Alpha Corbin, offered her refuge—but it was the kindness and understanding of Elias, the pack's second in command, that offered her a glimmer of hope for redemption. One crisp morning, as dawn painted the sky in hues of gold and cerise, Elias approached Abigail during her solitary wanderings along the edge of the pack's territory. "The wilderness is a great teacher," he began, his voice gentle yet carrying an undercurrent of strength. "It teaches us about resilience, about the strength that comes from facing our hardships head-on. You've been given a second chance, Abigail. Not many receive such a gift."Abigail regarded him warily, unused to being addressed without contempt or suspicion. "And what
The dusk had painted the sky in hues of orange and purple, a serene backdrop to the day's end. Antonio, known among his kin as the Lycan King, stood at the edge of the forest that bordered the pack's territory, his gaze lost in the horizon's silhouette. Despite his aging frame, he emanated a sense of timeless strength and authority, commanding respect from all who knew him.Jacob approached him, his steps measured and respectful. Despite their previous interactions, marked by goodwill and understanding, this meeting carried a different weight for Jacob. It was not just as the Alpha of his pack or as Mia's chosen mate that he came but as a man seeking the approval of the elder who had seen generations rise and fall, who had guided his family through tumultuous times with wisdom and courage."Antonio," Jacob greeted, his tone conveying both respect and an underlying nervousness.Antonio turned, his expression softening as he laid eyes on the younger man. "Jacob," he acknowledged, nodding
The journey to the hospital was enveloped in a thick, silence, one that was filled with a mixture of apprehension and a flickering hope. The sun set in a blaze of color, casting long shadows that stretched across the road, mirroring the complex emotions that interlaced within Mia’s heart. Sitting beside her in their vehicle was Jacob, his presence a steady reassurance of support and strength. His hand found hers, their fingers intertwining as if to say, "I’m here, no matter what lies ahead."Jacob squeezed Mia's hand as they entered the hospital, his loving eyes offering silent encouragement. They made their way through the sterile corridors, the antiseptic smell mingling with the low murmur of voices and the occasional beep of medical equipment, a constant reminder of the fragility of human life. Finally, they stood outside Dawn's room, a deep breath drawn by Mia as she prepared to face her mother, to bridge the gap that years of misunderstandings and hurt had created. Jacob's presenc
Kane, with his sturdy frame and penetrating gaze, approached the holding cell where Abigail was kept. Beside him, Cherry walked with a resolve that belied her usually warm and vivacious demeanor. They had agreed to undertake this task together, knowing full well the emotional and physical toll it could exact on them.As the heavy door to the cell creaked open, they found Abigail sitting on the small cot, her eyes devoid of the fiery defiance that once defined her. Instead, a resignation seemed to have settled over her, a silent acknowledgment of the reality that awaited her."We're here to take you to your new home," Kane announced, his voice steady but not unkind. Cherry remained silent, her eyes meeting Abigail's with a mixture of sadness and determination.Abigail nodded, rising to her feet with a grace that seemed incongruous with her current predicament. "I understand," she said simply, her voice a hollow echo of the woman she once was.The journey was long and fraught with an uns
The full moon hung low and brilliant in the inky night sky, bathing the forest clearing in its ethereal glow. Mia stood at the center of the sacred space, her heart pounding with a heady mix of excitement and trepidation. Tonight, she would officially become Luna, solidifying her bond with Jacob and her role as leader of their pack.Around her, the pack had gathered, a sea of familiar faces illuminated by the flickering flames of the ceremonial fire. Mia could feel the weight of their expectant gazes, but rather than filling her with dread, it filled her with a sense of purpose and determination. At her side stood Cherry, her face alight with pride and joy for her best friend. "You look absolutely radiant," Cherry whispered, giving Mia's hand a gentle squeeze.Mia managed a small smile, her fingers brushing over the intricate updo that Cherry had so lovingly crafted, woven through with delicate wildflowers and shimmering moonstone beads. "Thanks to you," she murmured, her voice thick w
Abigail shook her head vehemently, her eyes wild with denial. "No, no, you can't mean that. We're meant to be together, Jacob. Can't you see? Mia is nothing but a temporary obstacle, one that can be easily removed."Jacob's expression hardened, his jaw clenched with barely restrained fury. "Do not speak of Mia in such a way ever again," he growled, his voice laced with a warning that sent a chill down Abigail's spine. "She is my mate, my equal in all things, and I will not tolerate any threats against her."Abigail's lips twisted into a sneer, her desperation giving way to bitterness and rage. "So, that's it then? You've chosen that pathetic excuse for a Luna over me? Over our destiny?"Jacob met her gaze unflinchingly, his eyes burning with a fierce determination. "There is no 'our destiny', Abigail. There is only my bond with Mia, forged by the moon goddess herself. It is unbreakable, and no amount of delusional fantasies on your part will ever change that."Abigail let out a harsh l
