Chapter 102

“Jefe. Her numbers are improving. I’m going to go get the doctor.” The nurse runs out of the room to get the doctor. By the time he comes back Veronica is slowly opening her eyes. She looks to Luis and squeezes his hand which makes him burst into tears.

She tries to lift her hand but she can’t with the pain she is in.

The doctor checks that all the vitals are correct that are on the screens. He nods and removes the breathing tube.

Luis kisses her lips before she can even speak. “I’m so sorry my love.” He says with tears running down his cheeks.

“Stop babe. You didn’t do anything wrong.” Veronica says with a weak scratchy voice.

Luis presses his forehead against hers. “I thought I was going to lose you.”

“I told you before you are not getting rid of me that easy my love.” Veronica says with a small chuckle.

Veronica winces as she tries to move her arm again.

“Are you in pain?”

“Just a little.”

The doctor gives her a pain shot and adds a pain medicine to her IV drip.
