I stopped in my tracks with my fingers clasping the door handle, ready to push the button and pull it open when the voice behind me ordered.

I swallowed hard before turning around slowly, heaviness of something I could pinpoint as nervousness settled in the deepest pits of my very empty stomach, the emotions rolling around from side to side and leaving me a nervous wreck.
"Um," I started to say this time but Tristan cut me off with the same two words.
