12: Caroline Esta
BEING ONE OF the few assassins to successfully enter Crimson Tier, the second-highest rank in XYS, necessitates the deployment of a competent investigation team that can work in tandem with that assassin. A team capable of gathering sufficient and credible information in the shortest amount of time. And SIT fit the requirements to collaborate with Avyanna during missions.
Avyanna has been with the organization for many years and has successfully completed hundreds of missions with SIT. Their superb skills in gathering intellect surpass even those working for the government. She alone understands how capable these people are when it comes to searching for information and keeping up with her.
Previously, the three highest investigation teams of XYS wrote and compiled the gathered files that Mr. Black prepared and hand-picked personally for their practice mission.
The Scarlet Investigation Team, Azura, and the Flare Sequence, where SIT and Azura are competing for the top spot.
And when the team was selecting a mission, they chose a file that had been compiled by SIT. There's no longer a need to discuss how authentic the data would be. The fact that it was collected by them proves the quality of the information.
And with the gathered data, Avyanna arrived at the same conclusion. She also suspects that their target and the suspect in the case are the same people.
"Hm? Didn't you notice the info about her daughter in the file?"
While sitting on a bench, Lei scanned the sea of students walking around the campus. He sometimes smiled at some students who would occasionally stare at him, earning giggles from female students who found him charming with his strawberry brown hair.
He raised an eyebrow as he asked Jay back.
"Err... no. I didn't think there would be anything important written there..." Jay scratched the back of his head as he surveyed the school through his sniper scope. "What does that have to do with the case?"
Lei leaned forward as he rested both of his elbows over his thighs. His hands were holding a piece of the document he got from his backpack. He skimmed his eyes over the paper as he replied, "We've been with the organization for three years and are well aware of how stringent the standards and procedures are when accepting a mission. This mission, in particular, appeared to be much odder than the others since the investigation hasn't turned up much dirt on our target, except for a few hints that she's involved in the 7-year-old blonde disappearance student case."
Another voice came through their earpiece, "Right. Having a mission like this is kinda sus. It doesn't seem like the boss' character to approve a mission with little certainty about the target."
Is there another reason for this? In fact, this is supposed to be a practice mission for them, so why does it appear more complicated than usual?
Zeke went into deep thought.
"Aren't you guys overthinking?" asked Jay with a little uncertainty in his voice. "We chose this mission, didn't we? There's no use being suspicious now." He sighed, "I was just asking how certain you both are that the target is really the suspect behind the case."
"Exactly," Lei said in a matter-of-fact tone.
"Huh?"
"Didn't you notice Raven wearing a blonde wig?"
As Jay tried to recall the get-up of Avyanna, he squinted his eyes and furrowed his eyebrows. His face then brightened in realization. "Oh yeah!"
Silence.
"...so, what about it?" Jay blinked cluelessly.
Lei was about to respond when his phone suddenly vibrated. He swiftly pulled it out of his pocket and read the message with an eyebrow raised.
He calmly continued his response to Jay as he shut his phone off. "She didn't really say anything about what she's planning to do, so these are just my assumptions. If you think about it, the suspect seems to have this obsession with blondes, and if we were to look back on the case, he would only kidnap one student per year at this very university. And if you read the whole file--"
The little guy holding a sniper subconsciously flinched.
"--you would know that the deceased daughter of our target is blonde. "
"Ehhh?!!"
Just like Avyanna, both Lei and Zeke found a few interesting pieces of information after reading the whole file.
First, the unsolved case involves the disappearance of, specifically, blonde students of Shwirlan University, hence why it was called the blonde student disappearance case.
Second, the death of the target's nine-year-old daughter 8 years ago. A year before the blonde student disappearance case began.
According to the investigation, Sol had a very bright and cheerful child with her ex-husband. Her name was Caroline Esta. It was said that they loved her deeply and even spoiled her rotten.
She has long lustrous, blonde hair which she got from her father's side, and bright green eyes she inherited from Sol herself. Caroline has been their only child since then, and Sol has never been able to have any more children after she gave birth to her.
Unfortunately, they lost their one and only precious daughter eight years ago and she was found dead. The cause was said to be drowning.
The six-year-old child first disappeared from the park when the three of them decided to have a picnic, and it was only after three years that they finally located her body, only to witness it drifting over the surface of the Reil river, cold and lifeless. The river was fifteen kilometers away from their place.
The case wasn't given too much attention by the police as they concluded that it was only an accident. Leaving out the fact that that child disappeared for three years before being discovered. It was not uncommon for citizens to know that the police in their area were too lax in their work.
Naturally, Sol was devastated and she was the only one who wanted to probe more about the case. However, she was stopped by her husband.
Not long after, he divorced her. Leaving her alone with no relatives, parents, or friends to lean on.
And so a few weeks later, she was admitted to Holy Saint Hospital for becoming mentally ill after the case of her daughter, which also got worse after her husband left.
However, after another few months of being admitted to the hospital, she was released and even became a teacher at the University College of Shwirlan. She even got promoted and traveled around the world. You could say that she got over the death of her child.
This whole situation made them extremely suspicious. She got depressed, was confined to a hospital, and was released after a few months.
So basically, she went from becoming mentally ill to becoming a successful professor for like, a year, real quickly. Not that it's impossible, but it's just so odd!

A chuckle came from Lei, "Do remind yourself that she's Raven. Isn't that the very same name that the people from the underground feared so much?"
The two went stiff.
Hello! I'm deeply sorry for the late update. I've been busy in school lately because I'm running for the position of president in our school's student council. The requirements for this school year are so many that I didn't even have the time to do my modules! Argh. Anyways, I hope you have a great day!
13: 'Fear' "So are you saying she's actually not sane yet?!" "Hmm. She could be." "With that reasoning, we could say that she has a motive to abduct blondes. However, we lack evidence." Jay frowned. "The students that were kidnapped haven't been found right? Is it wrong for me to think that she's not doing any harm to them?" It has been seven years and not even a strand of their hair has been found. This case has made countless investigators go bald for not finding even a single clue that would lead them to a breakthrough.
Fourteen: The Beginning of all Action THE THREE became highly alert after Jay informed them that he had almost been caught by the police and was still currently being pursued. They immediately assumed that the others would soon be able to find out where they were, so Avyanna and Lei spread out and mingled with the students to avoid being captured. "I didn't expect the police to be tipped off about our move this early. They even have someone like me on their side, huh. Tampering the cameras right under my nose. Show what you got then!" Even after being played, Zeke didn't lose his composure. His eyes glimmered in anticipation and excitement. He purposely didn't take it seriously when guarding the system of the campus so he could toss a bait, which he didn't expect to work and even caught quite a big fish
15: The First Phase (1)AS STUDENTS CONVERSED with each other and continued to mind their own business while walking their way towards their respective class, a commotion happened on the third floor of the Literature Building. Surprising students and teachers who were near the structure. It was so sudden that they did not have the chance to immediately react.A blasting explosion was heard followed by a surging rage of fire that completely devoured the whole floor. The shattered pieces of the glass windows scattered randomly in midair, causing people to instinctively cover their heads as they run.Black smoke began to rise and engulfed a large portion of the structure. Stu
16: The First Phase (2) "Then the possibility of her being an assassin has been confirmed huh." Reese contemplated for a while as he raised his glasses, ignoring another round of nonsense chatter on the other side from his team. The third floor exploded not long after Avyanna walk out of the office, and she even ran away instantly after discovering their pursuit. Doesn't this only mean one thing?"The police didn't seem to have caught their accomplice outside the school, so it would be difficult to stick to our initial plan of capturing them peacefully. As I thought, let's go with plan B." added Reese."Hell, yeah! I like the sound of that!"
17: The First Phase (3) "The woman is probably no longer in the building right now."Archilles didn't bother reprimanding the three with what they've just talked about behind his back. Although he heard them all, it didn't really bother him one bit and decided to just go straight to the point.Confused, the three could only stare at him with an imaginary question mark plastered on each of their forehead. How?"They've probably taken her away…" Reese murmured. Unintentionally answering the question hovering over the mind of the three. He immediately noticed this. "As for the question why, I do not know." he added before they could've asked him why.
18: The Second Phase (1) AS ARCHILLES STOPPED himself from yawning. He walked his way towards the nearest tree and leaned his back over its trunk. Crossing his arms over his chest and closing his tired eyes. He had already talked too much. Although he initially planned to just let them read the whole file he made while he get much rest as he can get, he can't really stop himself to summarize his report as it became a habit he had accumulated for years now. Only a mission can get him to speak that long. The memory of what happened from last night made its way back to Archilles mind. As much as he hates to admit it, he had a hard time slee
19: The Second Phase (3.1) WITH BOTH ARMS CROSSED, Archilles stood unmoving among the humming crowd of officers and detectives. His biceps could no longer be hidden by the upper layer jacket of his suit, which stretched with his arms crossed over his chest. He exudes a tremendous aura that can make anyone succumb just by his mere presence. He’s not even doing anything, nor were his eyes piercing, yet there seemed to be a "Can Be Hazardous When Provoked" s
20: The Second Phase (3.2)"But you didn't get to hear my bet just now, right?" Yuan asked."Ahm, no. What was it about?" Although he doesn’t have the intention of taking back his bet on him, Rue still asked.Reese decided to be the one to answer his question. "He's betting that the captain won't be able to accomplish the
Consequences."Let's talk about what you did with the request-command that I clearly told you not to do." Mr. Black's expression turned serious. He folded his hands before leaning forward to rest both arms on his desk. "Let me tell you the reason why I never told anyone about their existence, except to you which I now regret. I never would have thought that you would use it after all the warnings I gave you." Avyanna didn't retort. To be honest, Avyanna hasn't yet heard the reason why he forbade the request-commands from being known in the organization, which is the very first thing he did right after he stepped up as the head of the XYS. So she didn't have an idea how dire the situation really is. "I already told you about the consequences once an assassin utters the oath and requests a command directly to the head—they will either end up dead, or be stripped of their title as assassins and be thrown to them. The XYS will no longer be their homes, nor will they be able to go ba
2nd Arc“It’s always the past that made them the way they currently are. “—In a relationship"I have a boyfriend.""*cough cough* What did you just say?"The raven-haired woman boredly stared at her uncle, who stared back at her with a dumbfounded look as he pathetically wiped his mouth with a tissue.Even the secretary of his standing beside him stared at her with a mixture of shock and terror.
Hello! I apologise for the lack of updates over the last few months. The thing is, I had my first ever blue screen problem around the end of January, and I didn't have the chance to fix it until this Wednesday. Because my brain can't function or generate ideas while I'm not at my computer, I became inactive shortly after finishing the first arc. Sorry! The good news is that I was still able to use my Android phone to produce a few drafts for the second arc and even revised the entire first arc. Although I can't promise to update every day this month, expect the story to continue:) I'll make sure to finish my book before I graduate. I know I've lost a lot of readers by now, but that's okay. My objective is to finish my first book and use it as a stepping stone to becoming a much better writer and producing far more books than I could ever conc
49: The Last MemoryTHE SCENE KEPT on changing. Like a playback, it kept playing all the highlights of Evan's past. However, it wasn't complete. Some parts will suddenly be cut off, while some are too short to make sense. And bit by bit, she witnessed how Evan's view started to change. His thoughts became darker and darker. From a young boy, to a twisted man.Not just him, she also saw how that scared, gentle little boy grew to be much more twisted than his already twisted brother. When finally, the scene changed to a memory that she's a par
48: Rotten Rules For SurvivalONCE AGAIN, THE scene changed."Is this them?""Yes. The other kid was injured all over but we had already checked, his body can still make it. It's a miracle that he's still alive. Fortunately, both are very suitable for the experiment.""I see. They're also twins, huh.""Yes. They are perfect for the projects."Evan had his eyes closed. So Avyanna couldn't see the two people conversing with each other, but she
47: The Twin's Promise.THE SCENE SUDDENLY changed."Brother! They're coming!"A cry sounded from his behind. Evan quickly turned around and Avyanna was able to see who it was.It was a thin child, with clothes made out of rags, running towards Evan with a desperate expression."Eli,"Evan opened his arms just as when the child fell forward to him.Only then did Avyanna realise that the body she was in became small.
46: The First MemoryEverything was white.Like in an asylum, all four corners of the room were painted with nothing else but white. No furniture, no dust, no anything. And in the middle of that room was Avyanna. The raven-haired woman stood motionless on the white floor, barefooted, with nothing else on her but a white hospital gown.Where am I?Creak. She turned her head towards the sound. The door that was too unnoticeable to the eye was pushed open by someone. A woman dressed in a lab coat came in,
45: Flirt THERE HE IS. The person who will serve as Avyanna's tool in her pursuit to seek the truth about her past. Archilles Calisto. The man stood up straight from leaning against the door before slowly approaching Avyanna, as the two confronted face-to-face, he had completely shadowed her small figure. He had indeed lived up to his title as the Captain of SPADE.
44: "Independent" Unit DETAILS REGARDING WHAT happened last night at a certain college university in Shwirlan were all over the news just as the sun rose up to light the sky. A woman working for the media spotted the movements of the police and went to investigate herself, never did she expect to end up with a big scoop. Another cold case has been broken and 'solved' by a unit under the PSIA. Many citizens were proud and relieved to have such a reliable force after reading the newspaper explaining how they cracked a case that had been going on for seven years that many detectives weren't able to solve due to a lack of evidence. However, no media outlet mentioned which unit it was that managed
