"Do you know that falling sick so frequently isn't normal?"
Rajveer's words made me chuckle and I couldn't control it. Due to that, he looked at me.
"Sir, many people in this world have weak immunity and that's why they do fall sick frequently. I think I do have weak immunity that's why," I answered.
"Yeah, but 104° fever isn't something anyone can get every month," he reasoned.
"Sir, you live in this fancy, posh house with all the facilities available, and cleanliness maintained. You're having a hygienic environment. While I live in a slum, a one-room house, a drain with flowing dirty water right behind my house and other unhygienic conditions. Falling sick is easy for me," I answered with a calm smile.
"Still, you should visit a doctor and have a proper checkup," he responded.
I looked at him, he looked worried about me and I don't know why, but that made me smile.
"You don't have to worry about me, sir. You should take care of your health right now. Or else I won't be able to handle crying Ved anymore," I pouted.
I need to divert his mind from this topic.
"You handle Ved, just perfectly," he replied.
"How can you say that? It's been two weeks of my service," I politely replied to him.
"Those two weeks were the hardest two weeks of Ved's life," he replied.
And then, once again, my eyes were stuck at his black orbs. I couldn't move my gaze from him.
I don't know what's wrong with me and why do I shamelessly stare at him, but looking at him in this way, it gives me comfort and peace. I don't know why, but it feels like there is someone for me in this world and for that instance, I don't even care the fact that the someone is somehow forbidden for me.
I keep on staring at him, and then, something surprised me. For the first time, Rajveer was staring at me too. It felt like he was looking deep into my eyes, and that's something I never expected from him. The way he was looking at me, it made my heartbeats fasten and I couldn't comprehend, what was that look? But before I get up from my seat and move from the place I am in, I should move my eyes from my boss, which I was unable to do. And now, his gaze was making me nervous.
"Sir," I mumbled.
"Hmm?" He responded, without even moving his gaze away from me.
"Why are you looking at me like that?" I asked him after gathering some amount of courage.
"Why? Have I asked you why you keep on looking at me?" He replied.
"No," a gasp escaped from my mouth.
We kept on staring at each other, and I wouldn't deny the fact, but the exchange of looks, it felt romantic. Like there was some pure romance and genuine feelings.
But then, my subconscious constantly reminded me one thing, he isn't for me, he isn't the right man and above all, this is forbidden.
I immediately got up from the bed and looked in another direction. I could clearly comprehend that he was surprised by my sudden action.
"What happened?" He curiously asked me.
"I need to go. I'm getting late," I replied to him and immediately walked out of the room.
The moment I got out, I rushed towards the washroom and locked myself in. And then, I went to the basin and splashed water on my face and looked at myself in the mirror.
I was blushing.
That gaze by Rajveer made me blush and I didn't know the reason behind it. I could see my cheeks turning slightly pinkish as a never-ending smile was carved in my lips. I couldn't help but could feel the time I spent with Rajveer right now.
It wasn't wrong, it was pure. We didn't touch each other or even held hands, it was just pure eye contact, but then, it was beautiful, intimate and romantic.
And then, I realized one thing, I am developing feelings for a man who has a son. I am falling for Rajveer Raichand.
The feeling about falling for someone gave me butterflies in my stomach. The feeling was so beautiful and precious that even if I try, I can't explain it. I just can say one thing, I am in love with this feeling.
As I smiled and thought about falling for Rajveer, I wiped my face dry with a towel and then walked out of the washroom. I went to Ved's room and noticed he was sleeping peacefully. I looked at the time, it was 8:30 pm and I should leave now.
As I was walking out of the mansion, I noticed a servant walking toward Rajveer's room with a tray of food.
Oh shit! I forgot to inform him about his medicines. I turned around and rushed towards his room behind the servant. As the servant entered the room and kept the food on the table and was about to away. I entered the room with the full intention of scolding him.
"Hey, you," I wasn't going to refrain from scolding the servant.
"Yes?" He asked, confusingly looking at me.
"You brought dinner for sir. Won't you inform him that you brought dinner and tell him that please have it? You just kept the plate and you're walking away?" I shouted at him.
"Actually..."
"Diya." Before the servant could say anything, Rajveer took my name, making him stop giving any explanation.
I looked at him, or I can say I glared at him.
"It's fine. He has been doing this for years. So trust me, and I have seen him keeping the food on the table, so I was going to have it anyhow," he spoke in a loving manner with a smile on his face.
Damn! That smile, it made me nervous once more. I immediately moved my gaze away from him, because if I kept staring at him, I won't be able to control myself anymore.
"Oh, okay. Sorry, Sir," I reply him and was about to turn around when I heard his voice again.
"By the way, I thought you were gone," he spoke.
"I was. I returned to tell you about the medicines," I tell him and walked towards the side table of the bed where the medicines were kept.
As I walked, I could see Rajveer gesturing to the servant to go away that he happily followed. I felt nervous, knowing the fact that I have admitted my growing likeness towards him.
"After food, you have to take these tablets and then..." I kept on explaining Rajveer while he was looking at me, making me nervous.
"Diya, can you serve me the food, please. I am feeling weak," he spoke as I kept the medicines aside.
"Yeah! Sure," I agreed and walked towards the tray to serve the food on a plate.
After I served the food on a plate, I walked towards him and handed over the plate to him.
"Now, I should leave," I muttered and turned around.
But the moment, I was about to leave, he held my wrist. I looked at him.
"Come, sit beside me," his voice was husky.
I nodded and sat beside him.
"I'm sure, you haven't had anything since you're here?" He asked me.
I looked at him due to his sudden unexpected question.
"Sir?" I gasped.
"What? Answer me?" He was looking at me in a caring manner.
I couldn't help, but nod in denial.
"I knew it," he sighed as he forwarded the plate towards me.
"Have it," he ordered me.
I looked at him in complete surprise. His actions made me feel speechless.
"Sir, this is your dinner. You should have it because you're sick. I will eat after reaching home," I told him because I couldn't understand.
Why would he share his food with me?
"Diya, there is plenty of food for two. So have it," he told me and I kept on looking at him because I was too much hesitant.
"You won't listen to me," he nodded as he tore a piece of the chappati and fed it to me without any warning.
And that was my second surprise. Rajveer Raichand fed me with his hands? Am I dreaming? Or this is the reality?
As I thought about it, he fed me one more bite and then handed over the plate to me.
"Now, hold the plate," he ordered me.
I immediately accepted his orders because I was in no state to understand what was happening. I just kept on looking at his actions as he got out of the bed and served himself food on a different plate and sat on the bed once more.
"Let's have dinner together," he spoke with a smile.
I couldn't help but smile at his caring gesture and nod. This was something unusual for me because never have I been asked for food in my life.
Yeah, that's true, I have never been asked to eat. Since I was on the heavier side, no one, not even my own mother cared if I have eaten or not. Baba used to care for me, but now, in the condition he is in, he is unable to do so. People assumed that I would eat on time because if I didn't, I wouldn't be fat. But maybe, they have no idea, I have spent several nights hungry and deprived of food.
I felt overwhelmed by the care Rajveer showered on me. Yeah, it seemed like nothing, but it was a huge thing for me because he was the one to do that. I smiled blissfully as I continued to eat.
And then, we had dinner together, while we chatted and giggled.
After an hour,
Rajveer's bodyguard dropped me home and I knocked on the door of my house. Bhaiya opened the door and looked at me surprisingly. I was twenty minutes late.
"Diyu, why are you so late?" He asked me.
"Oh, nothing. It's just my boss had a fever so," I answered as I kept my bag aside.
"Okay. I am going to sleep as I have to leave for work tomorrow at 6:00 am. Maa and baba have already slept, and maa had asked you to wash the dishes," he informed me while locking the door and I nodded at his words.
After informing me, he went inside to doze off while I walked towards the kitchen to do the dishes. As I looked at the messed up kitchen, with empty utensils that needed to be washed. I noticed one thing, that made me cry.
There was no food left for me in the house.

"Any information about Rajveer Raichand after the death of his beloved wife? How is he mourning her" I asked my informer on the phone.
"No. In fact, he seems completely fine, he didn't even care about his death," the informer respond.
Wow! That's a new thing. Ten years of the nuptial bond, and Rajveer didn't cry for his wife. Did I do a mistake by killing Leena? Poor, Ved, he has to suffer a lot now.
"Okay. Anything else?" I asked.
"Yeah. Sir has appointed a young girl to take care of Ved. And that girl, along with taking care of Ved, takes good care of sir as well," his information surprised me.
The man of morals is now deviating from his morals?
"Okay! What's the girl's name?" I asked, hoping to get a response.
"Diya."
DIYAI am standing in front of my college gate, looking at the college building, feeling nervous. It's an emotional moment for me as tears were trying to find their way out while I wasn't letting that happen.Never in my life, I thought that I will be able to afford college and pursue graduation, but today, here I am. And all the credit for this goes to only one person, Rajveer. He is like a glimmer of hope and pure happiness in my life.I finally put my thoughts on the back seat of my subconscious, took a deep breath and stepped inside the college. I looked around, there were many students, chilling with their friends and laughing and chatting, while I, on the other hand, didn't even have friends when on the school. And it somehow made me feel bad like I am alone. At the time of admission, I was allotted the classroom number, I entered the building and searched for the same. After searching for a while, on the second floor of the building, I finally found my class and without wastin
DIYA "Sir," I called Rajveer the moment I saw him walking towards his jeep's driver seat. He stopped and turned towards me and then, without wasting any moment, I rushed towards him and hugged him tightly. I wanted to thank him, not just for the phone, but for everything he has been doing for me. And for that, no matter how long a hug would last, it's the only thing that I could give him ever in my life. I kept on hugging him, but I had no expectations from him. But to my surprise, slowly he raised his arms and wrapped them around me. He hugged me back. That moment felt like the most precious moment of my entire life. I smiled like a kid and then buried my face in his chest, while I felt the warmth of his hug. "Diya," his husky voice hit my ears. "Yes?" I looked at him without breaking the hug. He had a blissful smile carved on his lips and it made me feel so precious. "What happened?" He asked me. "Nothing. It's just, thank you. For being here with me and for doing everythi
DIYA"What do you mean? You won't listen to me?"My mother's scream felt like it would burst my ears. I looked at her in complete anger and that's when another slap landed on my face."You wretch, what do you think of yourself? You will show eyes to me?" She scowled, pulling and twisting my ears brutally."Maa, leave," I shouted, in the end, pushed her."Diya," she was surprised by my sudden reaction.I have never misbehaved with her such, no matter how much rude she is to me, I always quietly bore her accusations and loathsome words, but not now.I have bore enough, it's my time to shine now, it's my life and I want to live it on my own terms."I am done. It's enough now. I am leaving for work right now. Don't you dare to come behind me. Do whatever you like and let me do my own," I shout at her, even though it broke my heart to misbehave as such."Don't you forget Diya. I am your mother, I have given birth to you. I have raised you and you retort to me in this way?" She shouted at m
RAJVEERThe anger that I had held back for ages was about to burst out all at once. How the hell can he dare to kidnap Diya? What she has done? And, why her?"Ranveer, leave her," I growled."Oh wow! You took my name for the first time after ages. That's great," his voice mocked me once again."Don't! Don't. Please don't. She has nothing to do with me. Leave her," I shouted. He can't have Diya. No. He can't do that to her, she is innocent."Damn, bro! So much aggression!! Where was this aggression when I kidnapped your dearest wife and threatened you to kill her? You were like do whatever you want, I don't care. But now! Now you're ready to rebel against your little brother just for your dearest little... Umm... Not so little girl," he chuckled.Every word of Ranveer felt like a knife stab in my chest. Yes, the only reason, I shoved down Leena's case is because my younger brother killed my wife and I couldn't go against my blood just to save a woman I didn't love. But today, he had st
RAJVEER Fear seeped into me the moment I saw fresh blood on my fingers. I saw Diya's unconscious face and that fear increased much more. "Diya... Diya," I tapped her cheeks, but she didn't respond. I got up and somehow picked Diya in my arms. Due to her heavy weight, I stumbled and struggled to balance, but I wasn't in any mood to crib over that, there was no time left for that. I somehow managed to take her to my jeep and made her sit there. I tied her seatbelt and hurried towards the driver's seat. I turned on the ignition and drove towards the hospital. I took her to the best hospital in Kolkata and admitted her to the emergency ward. I didn't want a slight chance of losing her. If she is in one per cent danger, I would do the best of my capability to save her. As the doctors and nurses took her in, I waited for any response from them in the corridor. My hands were stained in blood and that's what made me fear more and more. Ranveer has brought danger to her life, I won't be
RAJVEERI was furious at her brother. Furious enough to grab him by his collar and throw him out of the hospital."Don't say a word against Diya," I gritted."Why are you affected by it so much? If I am not affected when she is my sister," he replied, looking straight into my eyes."She has got a really nice brother," I chuckled as I left his collar and gave him a disgusting look.He was glaring at me, unable to figure out my words and actions. "Your sister," I pointed my finger towards him, "is hospitalized due to a serious injury on her head," I pointed towards Diya's room, "and what are you doing?" I made a revolted expression."What do you mean?" He glared."Look at yourself. You're a twenty-year-old, and what are you doing when you're in the hospital where your sister is admitted? Accusing her of doing something immoral. You're questioning her character? You're trying to form an illegitimate relationship between her and me? That too when she is sick and injured? She needs care a
RAJVEER"With Diya?" When I asked the question, I badly wanted him to say no. My mind wasn't ready for the answer but on the other hand, my heart wanted to hear and admit the answer and accept everything that anyone had to say about love."Yes. She is the girl," he responded, making my heart flutter while my subconscious worried."What? Diya? How?" I asked Ahmed."How can I know the answer?" His response surprised me."We know each other for a month only. How can I fall in love with her?" I asked him.How can someone fall in love in a mere month? Is that even possible? Or it's all just fiction?"A moment is enough to fall in love." He responded and I kept on staring at him."Love doesn't happen so easily." My subconscious rejected all the advances that Ahmed had to make."Have you ever fall in love?" Ahmed asked to me.Hitting right at the most painful wound. A question I don't know why I wasn't ready for."No!" I answered as I looked towards the floor. This is the bitter truth of m
RAJVEERThe moment we heard Ranveer's voice, Diya's grip on my hand became tighter. I looked at her, and the only thing I could see in her eyes and expressions were fear. This angered me more. How dare Ranveer come here?I turned around and walked towards him. I stood in front of him and glared at him."Wow! You're shooting glares. Wow!" He chuckled, making me roll my eyes."Why the hell are you here?" I growled."Nothing much. You can see the bandages on my bruises," he replied while pointing towards his bruised face and hands. "So?" I was uninterested."So, I was here for my treatment. And then, I saw you enter this room, so why not greet you. After all, you're my brother," he spoke while laying focus on the word brother and looking at Diya. For that moment, I wanted to rip off his eyes, just for looking at the girl with wrong intentions. But the guards I have put on around me restricted me to do that, and I didn't want to procure additional stress for the girl who is healing."I t
Three Years LaterRAJVEER"You don't have to worry for a single minute. Ved will take care of his sister. You just come with me," I muttered as I was convincing my wife for a dinner date."But this is wrong, Raj. We're going to eat out, and we aren't taking our kids with us," she complained."Because, this is a date between you two. Why should we interrupt between your romantic moments," Ved barged in."Ved!" She gasped."Now get out or I'll kick you both out," he teased her.The way Ved and Diya have bonded over, I love it. Ved, now a twenty year old adult, doesn't mind calling Diya as her mother and yet has a friendly bond with her. And my son adores his little sister too."Fine!" Diya rolled her eyes.I knew this woman was pretending that she isn't interested in going on a date with me but deep inside, she would be jumping of excitement."Shall we?" I winked at her."Okay!" She smiled. As I held her hand, we walked towards our car. I got the door for her and she just stared at me.
1 year later…DIYAI was looking at myself at the mirror. Adoring a bridal attire, I felt extremely nervous. A red saree, golden jewellery, bridal make up and what not. I felt like a royalty in that attire. But with that heavy attire, there was a heaviness in my heart as well. I felt extremely anxious. Today, I was getting married to Raj and I should have been the happiest, but I don't know why, I was extremely nervous and a bit scared.I have endured so much in my life, I had went through so much, and today, I don't know why, but I was getting reminded of every moment of my life. I wondered about Raj and the ups and downs we went through in our relationship. Our fights, our misunderstandings and what not. In these years, we were like every other couple, and we had our fair share of ups and downs. And today, I was having flashbacks of every moment that I had spent with Raj. "Today, I am getting married to him. I will be officially Mrs Diya Rajveer Raichand from today. Today, we will
5 years later…DIYAI was surfing on the internet on my laptop when out of a sudden an email popped on my notification bar. I immediately opened the notification, and a wide smile appeared on my lips. I immediately placed my laptop on the bed and started jumping on the bed out of happiness."Yaay... Yaay... Yaay... Finally.." I screamed in excitement. That's when Maa and Bhaiya entered the room."What happened?" Maa asked, noticing my happiness."I will tell you guys later, but first, give me a hug," I screamed and hugged them tightly. And then, three of us started jumping in excitement. It was just me who knew the reason for my happiness, while my mother and Bhaiya became happy after seeing me happy. After a while, I dialled a number and waited for him to pick it up."Where are you?" I asked, as soon as he picked up the call."At work," he replied in a serious voice."Okay," I replied and immediately hung up the call."This is going to be the best day of his life," I told myself and
RAJVEERAs soon as I heard that, I went completely numb. I stared at the doctor and then out of a sudden, I joined my hands."Doctor, please... Please save her... I can't live without her. Please, do something," I cried out, joining my hands in front of the doctor and basically begging. The doctor immediately held my hands and rubbed my arms."Me Raichand... Please... Please be calm. We're trying our best. But the situation is so bad, that even we're helpless," the doctor spoke in a lost voice."There must be any way. Any certain way to save her," I sobbed."There is, but we aren't sure about the success rate. Also, it's the only way to save her," the doctor spoke.I looked at the doctor, and somewhat the doctor's words gave me a sigh of relief and I felt hopeful again."What's that?" I asked, getting impatient."Plasma treatment. We will need at least four units of plasma from the blood of covid recovered patients," he informed."How... How much time do I have?" I asked."Well, it wo
RAJVEERI went blank. My mind had stopped working and I couldn't discern how to react to this. I saw Diya, she was taking deep breaths, trying to control her breathing issue. And that's when just one thing came into my mind. Do heck with this Covid.I immediately put on a double mask, face shield, gloves and an upper coat which somehow acted like a PPE kit and then, I entered the room. She was lying on the bed, in the prone position, trying to struggle with her troubles, but I could see her losing and I wasn't going to let that happen.I immediately placed the oximeter on her finger and monitored her oxygen levels."Shit, 88," I spat as I panicked. Her oxygen levels were dropping. She needed to be hospitalized.I took out my phone and made a call to the doctor. "Yes, Mr Raichand?" He immediately picked up the call."Doctor, where are you?" I asked."At the hospital. What happened?" He asked, sounding concerned."Diya... Her oxygen levels have dropped to 88," I informed him."Shit!" H
RAJVEER After a few hours, I walked towards the kitchen when I saw Ved sitting silently on the dining table. I walked to him and sat beside him. "Hey champ," I greeted him with a smile. "Dad, where's Diyu? I haven't seen her for a couple of days," he spoke in a sad tone. "Son, she is sick. So she can't come to meet us right now. Let her get better, she will be with us," I replied with a mild smile. "She is sick?" Ved's demeanour turned upset at once. "Yes," I nodded. "Then we should go and meet her na. We should take care of her," he spoke in a hurried tone as he was ready to go. I felt terrible after witnessing Ved's reaction. Diya, my son loves you a lot, and you have no idea how terrible these days will be for him when he doesn't get to see you and play with you. This is going to be really tough. "She has covid, we can't meet her," I announced. There was no point in lying so the truth was the only correct way. "Covid?" He was shocked. I slightly nodded. "Will she be
RAJVEERAll of a sudden, I felt like my world fell apart. My hands started trembling while I sweated, tears pooled around my eyes and I was about to have a breakdown.I felt clueless, what to do, how to manage, how to react or even how to behave? I knew nothing about it. How would I talk to Diya about this? What will I say to her parents and brother? What will I do now? How long will it take her to be alright? How am I going to do everything?I couldn't figure out anything as I looked around. I rubbed my temples, wiped the sweat off my face, roamed around in my room in tension while trying to figure everything out. And that's when I picked up my phone and made a call to Diya's doctor. He didn't pick up my call initially. It panicked me, and I kept on calling him. After not picking up for the fourth time, he finally picked up during the fifth ring."Hello doctor," I spoke as soon as he picked up the call."Hello, Mr Raichand. Is everything okay? I am sorry I couldn't pick your call ear
RAJVEERI entered home while I kept wondering how Maa would react to my actions. I knew she would be furious, but now, when I had made my choice, she will have to make one now.The moment I stepped in, she came rushing towards me while I prepared myself to answer her allegations."Raj? What did you do?" She screamed at me and I rolled my eyes."I did what was necessary, Maa," I responded."Really? Sending Rann jail was necessary?" She scoffed."Of course," I responded and turned towards her.She was looking at me helplessly. "You loved Leena? Am I right? You cared about her like your own daughter, and now, you're asking me why did I send Ranveer to jail? When you know the fact that he had killed her," I scowled."No," she screamed at me."Ranveer isn't a good brother, I accept that. He can do anything, he can piss you off and even say the meanest things to you. But he can never kill Leena, all he can do is just bluff," she shouted."No. I had the proofs, that he had killed Leena," I
RAJVEER"Wouldn't he get justice for his mother?"I was shocked. When did the topic of Ved arise? And from where? As much as I know, I had never told her about Ranveer killing Leena. So how does this?I kept on staring at her in utter confusion when she got up from my side and sat in front of me. "For the record, I know, Ranveer has killed your ex-wife. The way he behaved with me, the way he spoke to you and the way his dream scares you, I know that" she spoke.I was astounded, I didn't know what to say anymore. I just kept on looking at her."I know, right now you're scared about losing me and you love me and you don't want to do anything wrong with me," she spoke and I kept on looking at her.The next minute, she chuckled. "Don't blankly stare at me like this. It took a lot of courage for me to finally be able to speak about this," she spoke with an uncomfortable smile."I am listening," I slightly nodded. "Okay then. I am going to be selfish for a while. Because, yeah, I don't w
