As usual, the royal palace was buzzing with low noises. It was early in the morning and the sun rays had gently embraced the land making it warm especially in the north. The servants of the royal palace were starting their usual duties which included cleaning the marbled floors, royal chambers, large halls, pavilions, the royal library, and maintaining the garden. The royal chefs were starting to make delicious foods for the royal family members who were about to wake up. The royal family members included king Raleigh Kainz, his highness's uncle, Oswald Kainz, and queen dowager, Avon Kainz. After the death of the former king, queen dowager Avon stayed inside the palace handling the palace's internal matters.
King Raleigh's uncle's name was Oswald Kainz. He had always been in favour of king Raleigh since he was small and helped the king a lot when there was a struggle for the throne. He was one of the most trusted people of king Raleigh and was most loyal too. Even during the rebellion of the king's stepbrother, Oswald was calm and made a strategy to defeat them. Oswald had always been a royal advisor of king Raleigh since he sat on a throne. King's success in the ruling was also highly contributed to Oswald. He was a quick learner and decision-maker. If one problem was raised, he had hundreds of methods to solve them. So, providing the post of royal advisor to Oswald was one of the best decisions king Raleigh had made in his life.
King Raleigh had already woken up and was sitting on a large couch looking at the sunrise. Among the royal family members, he was the first one to wake up. But it was not for his healthy lifestyle. It was just that he couldn't sleep properly. He had insomnia and only slept for two, three hours at night. He never had a peaceful sleep because he was afraid of his nightmares which would drag him deep into the abyss. He knew he had been cruel and his hands were full of blood. The people who died by his hands were the reason for his nightmare. He had heard the curses they shouted before dying by his hands. Even his stepbrother had cursed him to rot in the deepest part of the hell before dying. Being king wasn't so easy after all.
King Raleigh was lost in his thoughts when he heard someone knocking on his door.
"Enter."
Ashley, the king's personal attendant entered the royal chamber with a silver tray in her hand. She saw king Raleigh sitting on the couch on the balcony. The gentle morning sun rays were basking him and at this time, the king looked so soft and approachable. She then walked towards the king and bowed before him.
"Good morning, your highness."
"Hm, morning."
She knelt at the label of the table and started pouring the tea into the cup. After preparing, she gave Earl Grey, the particular tea brand that the king loved to him. King's day always started with a cup of Earl Grey. King Raleigh took a sip and asked, "What are my plans for today?"
Attending the king was never an easy job. They have to prepare for everything. She lowered her head and answered, "Your highness, after the morning court, you shall have breakfast with lady Blaine in the royal garden's pavilion."
"Hmm... very well." The king said drinking a sip of the tea. 'You may leave now."
"Yes, your highness." Ashley then bowed to the king and left the royal chamber closing the door behind her.
King Raleigh then slowly drank the tea and soon finished enjoying the view outside the royal palace. He stood up and went inside his chamber to get dressed for the morning court. He never asked for his attendants to help him dress and did it himself. It took quite a long time to wear royal attire with a royal robe. He then put on a gold crown on his head and left for the court hall. The two royal knights were walking behind the king holding long spears.
King Raleigh entered the court hall majestically. There was a large glass chandelier in the centre of the hall and the walls were carved beautifully with quartz and other minerals. The red carpet was placed on the floor from the door to the golden throne. When king Raleigh entered the hall, everyone present in the hall stood up and bowed in respect towards their king. King Raleigh walked slowly on the red carpet towards his throne.
The throne was placed above three stairs from where the king could look down on everyone. The throne was made up of gold which was carved beautifully. The faces of the two dragons were carved at the end of each hand resting place. The soft royal red cushion was placed on the seat to make it more comfortable. King Raleigh took three stairs and sat down on his golden throne looking majestic. The two royal knights were standing behind him. Queen dowager Avon and the royal advisor Oswald were the ones who were placed closest to the king.
After King Raleigh sat all of the ministers and dukes also sat down on their respective seats. Then the king looked at everyone present in the hall and spoke.
"Begin now."
One of the ministers who were responsible for the criminal matters stood up and walked in front of the king. He lowered his head and said, "Your highness, we have caught the ones who were suspicious of being a spy. They are currently in prison."
King Raleigh nodded in his head and the minister signalled the guards to bring them. After a while, two persons were walking inside the court hall with their hands chained with iron chains behind their back. One of them was the girl while the next one was the boy. They both looked middle-aged. The girl looked quite pale while the boy was tanned. One could guess easily where they belonged just by seeing their features.
They both were forced to kneel down by the guards in front of the king and their heads were lowered. King Raleigh stared at them for a while and asked in a stern voice.
"Do you know what crime you both have committed?"
The girl raised her head a little bit and answered, "Yes, your highness." The boy also nodded his head in agreement. King Raleigh hadn't even glanced a bit at the boy. He was only looking at the girl.
"And you still dared to commit."
"I couldn't stop myself from falling in love with him." The girl answered lowering her head slightly.
"HAHAHAHAHA..." King Raleigh's laugh echoed loudly in the hall. Both the boy and the girl flinched in terror. "I clap you for your bravery after all... you are from my kingdom. But your audacity to bring him into my kingdom. You know what is the punishment, right?"
The most important rule of the Raven kingdom was 'The citizens of the Raven kingdom aren't allowed to be involved in any romantic relationship with the citizens from the other kingdoms.' This rule was made after king Raleigh had killed his second aunt a year ago. She was actually a spy from the southern kingdom and was caught red-handed. She was publically executed. Even her husband couldn't save her, The king didn't look for any blood relations when it came to his kingdom and he didn't want such incidents to happen again. For him, his kingdom was his top priority.
Both the girl and the boy banged their head loudly on the marble floor. "No please, your highness." The girl pleaded, her eyes full of tears.
"Where was your fear when you dared to fall in love with this man? You clearly knew he was from the southern kingdom, right? What would you do if he was a spy? Would you take responsibility?"
"Your highness, we assure you we aren't spies. We promise to stay or move away from this kingdom. Please let us go. We really love each other." The girl answered crying and choking her voice.
King Raleigh then looked at the royal guards and said, "Make both of them kill each other. If they don't agree, hurt them in front of the eyes of each other. I'll see for how long their love will last."
"No, your highness. If you want then please only kill me. I was the one who approached her first." The boy answered immediately looking into the king's eyes.
King Raleigh's face showed a smile which was quite not a smile and said, "Very well. I'll grant you your wish, you insect from the south."
The king stood up from his throne and stepped down walking towards the boy. He stared at the boy kneeling in front of him and took out his thin sword.
"Never rest in peace, no-name boy."
"Nooooo" The girl hadn't even shouted long when she saw her lover's head being separated from his body. It happened in a flash that she didn't even have the time to react properly. She just blankly stared at her lover's beheaded body and the blood which flowed around her. She then took her lover's head on her lap and looked at it blankly tears flowing from her eyes.
Everyone felt chills in their body with the king's current action. King Raleigh hummed in satisfaction and shrug away the remaining blood on his sword then walked towards his throne and sat on it. He stared at the girl and said, "Give this boy's body to wild animals and this girl will stay in the prison for the rest of her life."
"Kill me."
"Hm?" King Raleigh looked at the girl narrowing his eyes.
"He was the only one who loved me. I had nobody except him and you killed him. Kill me too."
"Fine. I'll grant your wish after all I am your king. Guards, burn her alive with her lover's dead body, right here and now."
This decision made everyone even more afraid and chill around them. They wanted to object but didn't have enough courage. Right now, King Raleigh was angry and they didn't want to face his wrath. The girl looked at the king with her dead eyes after the guards came with fire and petrol.
"I curse you that you will never be able to experience the feeling called love. I curse you to never be happy and you will never be able to love in this life. You will discard your happiness by yourself. I curse you for eternity."
"Finished?" King Raleigh asked without changing his expression. "I have been cursed so much that I don't remember what they were. Adding some more isn't anything."
"This is the curse from a lonely woman who had her lover just killed."
"Fine. Guards burn her." The king ordered. Soon, petrol was poured on her and the boy's body. They were set on fire after that. The whole hall was glowing because of the fire and everyone was silent. Some looked at the view while the others couldn't. Only the sound of a girl shouting in pain of being burnt could be heard.
Queen dowager looked worriedly at her son's lack of emotion. Who was she to say anything? Even she wasn't allowed to call him 'son' after he became the king. Oswald was looking at the scene without emotion too after all he was very loyal to the king. He never questioned his decisions. For him, king Raleigh was always right.
Very soon only the smell of freshly burnt corpse lingered inside the hall. The king ordered them to call the maids and clear away the ashes. The hall was still in pin-drop silence.
"Why are all of you silent?"
Because we are afraid of you, ah. "Continue."
Minister Weshly walked towards the king and bowed him. He was the commander of the royal army. He was a tall blonde man with a ripped body. Previously he was second-in-command but after king Raleigh sat on the throne, he was promoted to being a commander.
"Your highness, regarding the hunting you are going to participate in starting from tomorrow, we have already found a good destination."
"Elaborate.
"Your highness, for your hunting trip we have located the mountains at the border of our kingdom. The temperature is pretty warm there compared to here. There are lots of tall and small mountains and boulders suitable for hunting."
Commander Wesley and his squad were responsible for this year's hunting. "Your highness, for tomorrow's hunting, we have prepared about five bows and lots of arrows and some guns. We also have prepared five horses and another extra five horses which will carry carriages filled with food and tents." King Raleigh was listening to the commander attentively with his right palm placed under his chin. "What about my Midnight?" "Your highness, he is still not well and the doctor had told us to give him some time to recover." Midnight was the name of king Raleigh's personal horse. It was gifted to him by his father when he was just thirteen years old. When he first got his horse, the horse was also still a baby. It was a black horse and its mane was long and silky. Because the
It wouldn't be wrong to say that she wasn't aware of how king Raleigh treated her. She was treated like everyone- no special treatment. It was just that king Raleigh was especially tolerant towards her. She didn't know why. Maybe they were childhood friends. Maybe he just treated her nicely because she was his fiance. When she heard the sentence that she was allowed to stay in the royal palace from tomorrow, she was screaming with happiness internally although she didn't show on her face. She had always dreamt of staying in the royal palace. Who wouldn't want to? This place was literally like heaven. She was fascinated by everything in the royal place although she was an aristocrat Till now, she was just a temporary guest but soon this royal palace would be her home. She had already considered this palace as her home and she couldn't wait to rule it. Lady Blaine was also aware of king Raleigh'
They all soon began their journey to the northeast part of the Raven kingdom where the weather was unstable and coldest. It was the border of the Raven Kingdom with the Falcon Kingdom which was separated by an ice-cold ocean named 'Rose'. As they travelled further, the colder temperature was and the more gloomy the weather was. It was a place where there was no chance for survival if one got lost. They travelled for five hours before finally reaching their destination. King Raleigh stopped and looked at all of them. "Let's rest for a while. We all can have something to eat and leave. Set up a tent in that area and maids with two soldiers will stay here. Commander Wesley and two soldiers will be leaving with me." "Yes, your highness." All of them soon set up tents for everyone. The maids were busy cooking the foods while commander Weshly and o
King Raleigh slowly opened his eyes to see an unfamiliar ceiling above him. His head was throbbing in pain. He remembered falling down from the cliff and knew he was about to die. He was definitely not in his royal palace and obviously not in his bed but he still felt that he was lying above a soft thing. Wait!! Did he really die? What was this fluffy thing under him? Was he sleeping on clouds? It meant that he went to heaven instead of hell. He was crying in tears of happiness knowing he wouldn't have to burn in hell. No, No, was he a fool? It can't be. King Raleigh could feel his heart beating and he was breathing. He tried to move his body but couldn't move because of the pain. Who saved him and where was he now? Did somebody kidnap him after all he was a king and would be a good hostage against his kingdom? He just hoped he wasn't caught by his enemies. He laid on the bed and looked around the unfamiliar room. It lo
King Raleigh looked at the joyous expression on Ives's face when he said he would stay with him until his wounds healed. It was so easy to make Ives happy. King Raleigh smiled at that thought. "Ah!! you smiled." Ives said opening his eyes widely. King Raleigh's lips which had just curved upward slightly just straightened. "I didn't smile." "But I just saw it." "It was a hallucination. Forget about it." King Raleigh couldn't believe that he had just smiled in front of Ives. "Are you shy?" Ives asked in a teasing tone. "What?! No!" King Raleigh immediately denied. "It's okay if you don't want to smile but you look good while smiling." Ives earnestly said. King Raleigh was silent and just hummed later. For
King Raleigh felt it was better for Ives to stay here. Ives was a mix and a rare beauty. Most Ravenian's had dark black hair with black or grey eyes and they had a pale complexion. Males were much taller than females. And Ives was the total opposite. Although he had a pale complexion which he had gotten from his father, most of his features were probably from his mother's side like his Caribbean eyes and his straight brunette hair. He looked taller than females but in comparison to Ravenian males, he was smaller. Let's not even talk about how slender his body was. Ives was the picture of the body type; neither fat nor too slim. His body was toned with slight muscles without any body fat. He was neither too masculine nor too feminine. King Raleigh could already imagine how thin Ives's waist might be just by seeing the pant hanging around his waist. King Raleigh felt his whole body and face is hot. He drank a sip of jasmine tea
"Husband... It is such a beautiful word." King Raleigh knew Ives was just going along with him but still hearing the word 'husband' coming out from Ives's mouth made his heart flutter. His heart was beating so loudly that it felt like it was going to come out from his body. Oh my god... He should learn to control his feelings. King Raleigh put his right hand on his chest and took a long breath to calm his raging heart. He brought back his poker face and entered inside. That soft look before this felt like it was just an illusion. But this was king Raleigh's habit which had been carved deep into his veins since he was a child. Never show your emotions to others. It is your weakness and others may take advantage of it. As a king, king Raleigh must not have any weak points. King Raleigh sat on a couch as he waited for Ives. He could st
Swimming together was definitely a blessing in disguise for king Raleigh right now. Why? Because while swimming they must remove their clothes, right? Although he didn't know how the hell they would swim in that frozen cold lake, he still will get the chance to see Ives naked. King Raleigh didn't want to admit that he was actually looking forward to this moment. Just imagining Ives's naked body in front of him made his blood rush into his brain. Ives's body must be soft, right. He had never seen Ives's naked body but he could imagine how it would be just by seeing the clothes wrapped around Ives's body. That slim waist and slim slender body with some muscles, it must feel like heaven to touch it. Will his skin be bouncy and smooth? King Raleigh couldn't wait for it. As king Raleigh was imagining

The warm winter morning with the gentle rays of the sun was covering the whole Raven kingdom. The kingdom was nuzzling with the citizens doing their own works. With their new king, His Highness Satchell Kains, there was some change in the Raven kingdom. His highness was very intelligent and was sure he would take the kingdom to a new height and make it even more powerful. Everyone was happy and satisfied. On the other side of the capital far away from the civilizations, King Raleigh had prepared everything for his marriage with Ives. He was feeling like it was a dream. Just a few years ago, he was mourning for Ives's death and was alone but now he was marrying the love of his life, his angel. King Raleigh was really gr
It took four days for king Raleigh to get well. He was suffering from a high fever with a common cold and some symptoms of frost bite were on his fingers and toes. Ives was grateful that king Raleigh didn't suffer from pneumonia at this state. Ge was unconscious for the whole four days. Ives always fed him medicines and stayed by his side checking king Raleigh's temperature from time to time. Under Ives's meticulous care, king Raleigh's condition got better and better. Finally, on the fifth day, king Raleigh showed some signs of waking up. Oliver had also left the house to go to the city for his job. So, Ives and king Raleigh were the only ones present in the house. When King Raleigh woke up, his head was still aching and was feeling dizzy. He looked around and saw none
The sun had already risen when Ives and his father, Oliver got ready to set off back to their home. Their home where they had been staying forever. Their own small paradise, surrounded and hidden deep in the mountains. The land free from the stains of the filthy world. The place where Ives's innocence and purity were left behind. They were ready. The king, the queen of the Wallace were sad but they had to let go. Ives had been staying with them for more than six months and were attached to him. Princess Rosanne was the saddest among all of the people. She had truly loved Ives. It was not some childish crush nor puppy love. Ives had really captured her heart. It was hard for her to see Ives leaving but still, she had to let go. She went towards Ives and said, "Bye, bye. I'll definitely not remember you." &nb
Ives was unconscious and was sweating, twitching his eyebrows. King Raleigh was holding Ives's hands all the time like it was the last straw in his life. He was also wiping away Ives's sweat from his face from time to time. Ives was unconscious for a day. It was finally the next morning when Ives slowly opened his eyes. Seeing Ives opening his eyes, King Raleigh who was resting on a couch near to him rushed over to Ives's side excitingly and asked, "Ives, are you alright?" By this time Ives had already recovered his lost memories. So, seeing king Raleigh after opening his eyes made him both surprised and bitter. He turned away his face not wanting to look at king Raleigh and asked, "What are you doing here, Raleigh?"
The new was starting. It was finally the day of engagement of Princess Rosanne and Ives. Before that day, Ives had tried his best not to think about that strange yet familiar man. He always stayed around princess Rosanne so that his mind would be occupied wouldn't wander off somewhere. It is said that the empty mind is the house of the devil. So, he was always around her as if he was trying to compensate her. King Raleigh also returned back to the Raven for some time to recover after receiving such shock. He had also received a message from Prince Satchell to return as the matter was very urgent. He thought it was better to leave instead of getting hurt. Ives was finally happy and was moving on. What could he do? He was stuck in between wanting Ives to remember him and was also afraid of his hatred. He also didn't have enough
Ives and Princess Rosanne returned back to the palace. Both of them were silent with their insecurities hidden inside their hearts on the way back making the ride silent. Ives was confused by his behaviour he showed back there himself. When he had seen that unknown man with a mask his heart was racing faster. He had forgotten about everything around him and was only looking at that man for a while. But remembering now why did he feel like he had seen that man somewhere before? But he hadn't seen that man's face but his instinct was screaming he must have known him somewhere before. Those thin lips felt too much familiar to him. Why was his heart beating anxiously? Why did the tears fall from both of their eyes? As soon as Ives came back to the palace, he directly went to his room after sending princess Rosanne off. Princess Rosanne
As soon as king Raleigh found Ives, he felt like he lost him too. He wanted to keep that sand so much with him that he clutched it so tightly he ended up losing it through the small gaps of his fingers. After such a long search, he had finally found his Ives but he felt like Ives was far from him. Too far to close off that wide distance. His Ives was actually marrying someone else. Someone other than him. He didn't want to believe it but all the evidence were in front of him. It wasn't a good feeling. He wanted to believe that wasn't his Ives but those features which those girls described fitted all of Ives's features perfectly. He was filled with sadness and jealousy. He finally knew how Ives had felt when he was going to marry Lady Blaine. King Raleigh had the taste of his own medicine and god... it was bitter. &nbs
King Raleigh had been travelling alone on his horse now for two weeks. He was searching for Ives everywhere he reached. He used to travel the whole day and rest at night. He would sometimes sleep in inns and sometimes outside. After getting tired for a whole day, he would sleep with the memories of Ives. The fact that Ives may be alive somewhere was keeping him going desperately. He was wearing normal black pants and a white shirt with a cravat. He wore a long cloak that hid his face so none could see his face and know he was the king. He travelled across rivers, hills, cities, towns but still couldn't get any signs of Ives. He used to ask every people he met but still, there was not any progress. It was always a failure. Sometimes fear kept welling from his heart thinking the god may not want him to meet Ives. Every night he used to have a nightmare of Ives being happy without him.
