Chapter 3

Sonya woke up when her alarm started going off at 4 am and slipped on a sports bra and her sneakers. She quietly made her way down the steps to start her morning run around the training grounds. Then she spent an hour with Harold working on hand-to-hand combat. She thanked him for the training session and ran back up to her room so she could get ready for her first day of work.

She quickly made her way to her bathroom. Standing in front of her shower she stripped and stepped in. She quickly shaved then washed her body and hair under the warm water while trying to fully wake up. Once she was clean and all the soap was washed off, she stepped out of the shower to dry off. While still in her towel she blow dried her hair and curled it in long, loose spiral curls flowing down the middle of her back. She then applied some minimal, nude style make up. She definitely wanted to make a good impression and not look cheap.

She then made her way to her dresser and pulled out a matching set of black lacy bra and panties. Making her way to her closest she caught a glimpse of herself in her full-length mirror. She admired her reflection for a few minutes before coming back to her senses. She had been working really hard to get the figure she has now.

She pulled an above the knee fitted light gray pencil skirt and a white flowy plunging neckline sleeveless blouse out of the closet. She slipped the outfit on and grabbed a pair of her black stiletto heels. Sonya put the heels on and stood in front of the mirror again to check she looked okay.

After she was satisfied with her appearance, she grabbed her phone, purse, and room keys before heading down the stairs. She quickly grabbed a coffee and a granola bar on her way to the front door of the packhouse. The valet had already called a car for her to take her into the city for her day of work.

Sonya scrolled through social media looking at stories and pictures of her soon-to-be boss Alpha Jake to help her prepare for her first day. She was very nervous to work with Alpha Jake. Not only was he gorgeous but he was the Alpha of the Red Moon Pack. The biggest pack in the country. Sonya had heard rumors that the Alpha was very aggressive, especially if threatened.

She also had heard he was very demanding and intimidating especially at work. Sonya continued to scroll on her phone while twirling her pendant for the whole 20-minute car ride into the city until they pulled up in front of Turner Enterprises. She thanked the driver before exiting the vehicle and told him she would call or get a taxi when she was ready to come home.

Sonya stood in front of the very large building as if her feet were glued in place. The building appeared to be made of glass and was taller than any other building in the area. There were people funneling into the building and a few coming out. Most people were on their phones and not paying attention to anyone else around.

“You can do this Sonya. One step in front of the other.” Sonya said under her breath. Sonya made her way to the front door which a door man held the door open for her.

“Thank you, sir.”

“You’re very welcome. It’s my pleasure to assist a beautiful woman.” Sonya chuckled before bowing slightly towards the man.

She approached the front desk and waited in line to find out where she needed to go.

“How may I help you?” The small, young blonde girl asked from behind the desk. She was very pretty and looked to be barely 18. Sonya was guessing she was still in high school but figured she had to be older than that. She had no name tag on and looked very agitated with having to help anyone. 

“My name is Sonya Myers and I am the new executive assistant to Alpha Jake.” Sonya stated while putting her hand out to shake the young woman’s hand. The woman looked disgusted that Sonya wanted to touch her.

“Oh, you are the one….a word of advice…don’t get comfortable.” The woman stated while chuckling. “Over there” she stated, gesturing to go to the employee elevators around the corner.

Sonya hesitated before making her way to the elevators where she found a directory. As she read through it, she found that she was to be on the twenty second floor. She made her way through the many people making their way to the elevators. There were so many people that it took five minutes to catch an elevator and just as the doors were closing, she smelled the scent of pine trees and rain again. She looked through the closing doors to catch the top of a man’s head that was bent over looking at his phone.

Sonya became excited knowing that most likely her mate was an employee in the building and she would be able to meet him at some point soon. She relaxed slightly as she rode the elevator to her floor. She made a mental note to wait at the elevators before and after work until she found him.

When she stepped off of the floor, she couldn’t help the grin on her lips. She exited the elevator and walked up to another reception desk. This desk appeared to be specific to the executive floor. The desk was all white with lights under the counter overhanging the front. It held two male receptionists with headsets on. Both appeared to be in their forties and were busy answering phones and directing people.

Sonya approached the desk and was greeted by the receptionist on the left who had a name tag on showing his name to be Caleb.

“Hello I am Sonya Myers and I am to start working today as Alpha Jake’s executive assistant. I am hoping that you can help me figure out who I need to talk to or where I need to go.”

“Oh yes. We have been excited to meet you. I am Caleb and I will be your assistant.” Caleb was tall with sandy blonde hair and brown eyes. Caleb seemed happy at the prospect of working with Sonya. “Let me show you to your office. Alpha Jake is not here yet but he should be here anytime. And Clara from HR will come up at nine to meet with you.” Caleb directed her to a long hallway and motioned for her to follow him to her new office.

The hallway appeared to have one large room to her right that spanned the length of the floor and then several small offices on the left side with people hurrying in and out with paper work and files. They all smiled and nodded at Sonya and Caleb as they continued their walk. Caleb continued to point different areas out as they walked down the hallway.

Sonya was not expecting an actual office. She figured she would get a desk and probably a cubical. Caleb led her to the end of the hallway and pointed out which office was the Alpha’s. The Alpha’s office was the large room to that was the length of the floor. Sonya’s office was next to the Alpha’s directly at the end of the hallway while being connected with a glass door. The front of all the offices had smoked decorative glass towards the hallway so no one could see in.

When she stepped into her office, Sonya was rooted to her spot with the view from behind her office. It was a glass wall with an expansive city view. She was in total shock at the view and that this would be her office. Caleb chuckled and then nudged her closer to her desk.

The desk was a large beautiful desk with a mix of oak and metal decorative touches throughout the front and ends. The chair was a black, plush executive style roller chair. Sonya was excited to sit in it. There were bookshelves lining the wall between her office and the Alphas. Several file cabinets both tall four drawer ones and two drawer ones on the opposite wall. There were two plush chairs in front of her desk and a coat rack by the door. She was drawn from her thoughts by Caleb.

“If you want a different chair, we can get you anything that will make you more comfortable. Here is your laptop and bag for transport. You will want to make sure to lock it either in the office here or take it with you and lock it at home. Here are the keys to your office and all the drawers. This file will have all of your log in info and email address. Is there anything else you need at this point?” Caleb handed her the file folder.

Sonya still was at a loss for words and just shook her head.

Caleb chuckled again and went to leave. As he reached the door, he hung onto the door frame and leaned back in saying “the Alpha will be here shortly so just get comfortable in the space until he is here.” Sonya just nodded and he took his leave back to his desk while closing the door behind him.

Sonya walked forward and sat down in her desk chair. She swiveled her chair to look at the city view behind her desk. There were buildings and a clear view to the city park and the river. It looked slightly foggy because of the clouds and being as high up as she was in the building.

Just as Sonya was about to turn back around to face her desk, she started smelling the intoxicating scent of pine trees and rain.

Sonya ran through her office door to the hallway but there was no one around. She gave a huff and went back into her office. Looking around she realized that the alpha was in his office now as well so she went to make her way in there to introduce herself only to have him barge into her office. He had not looked up from his phone.
