The new journey

RUTH'S POV

"Do you like it, honey? "

Dad asked me the next day in the car.

I put off my sunglasses and looked outside.

The car had stopped near a filling station and I could see the signboard out there which showed the name of the small town in which we were moving in.

"Sunnydale??"

I murmured the name of the town as I looked out of curiosity.

The weather of the area matched perfectly with the name of the town as the sun was shining brightly in the sky. It was a nice warm day and scents of unknown flowers filled the air of the town with joy and excitement.

I breathed deeply in the air and smiled a little. I was kind of liking the area. There were a few people at the street and all of them were looking kind and helpful. Even the man at the filling station.

" New here,Ay?"

He asked dad with an accent.

"Yeah,moving today!"

"Have a nice time staying here,mate! We hardly have any visitors at Sunnydale . people are always trying to move into the big cities with lots of chaos and bustle. I wonder why. I like being here.It's nice and small and you’ll never hear any busy noises anywhere. Enjoy your stay!"

He waved us goodbye as we started again.

I drew the hat over my head and leaned at the seat while closing my eyes.

"You okay,dear?"

Mom asked me with concern.

" I'm fine." I said at once.

As I closed my eyes,the scenes of last night flashed inside my mind one by one. I could not sleep at all and my head felt dizzy and was aching so badly. I still could not figure out how I could manage to come back home and who brought me in. I was thinking about the dark silhouette who saved my life. I was thinking about Leo and Lisa.

Lisa! My friend! How she could do that to me when she was aware of everything! How she could make out with the boy I liked so much!

I could think no more. I picked up my phone and blocked all the numbers of everyone in my past school. I did not want anyone to find out about me anymore. Not at all! I wanted to start a new journey ahead without the painful thoughts of my past.

" Here you are!"

Dad stopped the car near a nice duplex house as we got out.

" Our new address. "

I stepped outside.

It was a nice bricks built house with wide glass windows with a small flower garden outside. There were no other residents out there but another duplex building a few distance across the street. The whole area was calm and quiet. There were hardly any car moving on the street infront of the house.

" It's a middle of nowhere! Dad! You have taken us into the jungle! "

I said joyfully as I was starting to like everything little by little. I pointed at the pine woods which started from a distance behind the house.

" ha ha. Do you like it honey? "

Dad asked me with a laugh.

"Yes,It's nice and cozy."

I answered after I stepped on the wooden floor of the house. I breathed the air inside which smelt a lot like spice and fresh pinewood.

"Ruth! Help me with the boxes in the car!"

Mom yelled from outside.

"Coming!"

I came outside in a series of leaps.

" Bring them in."

She pointed at some boxes.

" Okay! "

As I was absorbed in the work,I suddenly heard footsteps from behind.

I looked up.

"Hi!"

A girl around my age was standing infront of the car with a broad grin on her face. She was wearing a pair of black jeans with a white crop top. She had metal chains on her neck and had some metal bracelets on her tattooed wrist. She also had a few piercing on her lips and ears.

" I'm Elizabeth. I live there."

She pointed at that only duplex house nearby.

" Great!" I stood straight, holding a pair of boxes.

" I'm Ruth,we just moved here today."

" Nice to meet you Ruth."

Elizabeth glanced at me and the boxes on my hand.

" Okay, see you at school tomorrow! "

Waving goodbye,she moved towards her house. At that time,a sport’s car stopped outside of the front gate of Elizabeth's house. As I was staring at that direction, I saw a tall handsome figure coming out of the car. I could not see the face of the visitor as he was facing backwards. Elizabeth came running towards the boy and jumped into his lap. The boy grabbed her waist and kissed her on the lips. Then they got into the car and drove off.

I kept staring at that sight. After a while I went inside of the house to give my mother a hand.

" What a day! "

After a long busy day,I threw myself on the bed and looked outside. It was night already as we didn’t realise while working so hard to organize everything on the house. mom and dad went to bed already after the dinner. I was lying on my bed and looking at the ceiling of my bedroom. It was a nice cozy room facing towards the street. From my window view, I could clearly see Elizabeth's house. I stepped out of bed and came closer to the window to have the outside view.

It was a nice starry night and the breeze was cool and brought sweet smell of the flowers from the garden. I breathed deeply in the air and spread my arms like a free bird. After a long time,I was feeling at home....

I opened my eyes with a jolt as I heard a sudden shrieking noise of car wheels.

It was the same sport’s car from this morning.

I could see dark figures coming out of the car.It was Elizabeth and that tall handsome boy. They were having a chitchat before leaving. After a while, they kissed good night to one another and Elizabeth went directly inside the house.

I was staring at them the whole time while leaning at the window edge. I didn’t realise when the boy turned his head towards my direction and looked at my eyes.

I came to my senses in a jolt and moved from the window side and got on the bed.

"What was I thinking? "

I patted my head lightly as my cheeks got all rosy for nothing.

After a while, I heard car wheels moving away from the streets. I got into my feet once again and moved near the window. I saw the boy drove away. I saw Elizabeth at her window, waving at him.

I felt a sudden unknown feeling inside of my heart.

" What a nice couple! "

I thought inside of my head.

I closed the window and moved back to the bed.

After a long time, I had a perfect sleep with no nightmares or painful thoughts on my mind.
