Aurora and Arden made sure that Faith was comfortable. She would need to stay off her feet for a little while. Aurora offered to help her mother after they took Eli trick or treating. Faith declined her help. She said that she just needed to lie down and then she would finish her packing. Seeing as they were going to come back, Faith would just pack lighter than she had originally planned. Aurora did not like the idea of leaving her mother alone once more, but she did not press her mother as Faith seemed adamant. Aurora Arden and Eli all left to go back to Aurora's house. Arden helped Eli fix his costume before they walked around the neighborhood. Aurora quickly changed into warmer clothes and removed her fairy costume. Eli's mood seemed downcast after seeing that Faith was not going to be joining them for trick or treating. Arden did a decent job of trying to distract him. He had told Eli that Faith wanted a full report afterwards on which house had the best candy. With the tas
Arden understood the need for Aurora to talk to the elderly couple. With Cameron deceased she was unable to ask him and as far as he knew, Aurora wanted nothing to do with his parents. Arden wondered if there as more to the story. He knew that he would need to learn it in time. Te last thing he wanted to do was take Aurora back down that dark road. "Of course, we can delay a bit longer. Whatever you and Eli need," Arden said. Aurora gave him a thankful smile. Arden kissed her. It was meant to be a comforting kiss, but when their lips connected, the mate bond took over. Before they knew it, Arden and Aurora were once more tumbling into bed and enjoying the feel of one another. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The next morning, Aurora stood outside of the elderly couple's door. Faith had already come over to sit with Eli. Aurora had explained to her mother what had happened, and Faith agreed that s
"What happened to the rest of the Crimson Pack?" Arden asked Edith. He had only heard about the abolishment. He had no idea what happened to its members as the Alpha was the only one who seemed afflicted with the curse. "From what I was told, some went to neighboring packs, and others decided to live among the human towns. Robert and I tried to come back and save the pack, but it was too late. All the pack members had dispersed." Aurora could hear the pain in Edith's words. The woman was upset about losing the pack that she had been a part of. "I cannot feel you or your husband's aura. Have you lost your wolves?" Arden asked Edith gently. He did not want to upset the woman, but it was rare for a previous Luna or Alpha to have their wolves stripped from them. Edith nodded her head. A few more tears streaked down her cheeks. "When Robert and I decided to live in a human town, both of our wolves left us," Aurora was surprised to hear this. She assumed that their wolf counterparts st
Arden returned to Aurora's house in his car. Faith had dropped him off back at his bar to square things away and pack his own items before returning with his vehicle in order to travel in. His newer car a bit more reliable than Aurora's Arden walked through the kitchen and made a mental list before writing down an actual list. He had already let his second in command know what was happening and he had no issue with taking over for Arden for the time being. Arden did not tell him though that he was not sure when he would return. That would be a conversation for another time. Arden walked up the steps to his apartment above and grabbed one of the large bags that sat in the top of the small closet. He packed his personal items that he brought with him and a few pairs of clothes but ultimately the rest of his things were still at the pack house. If Lila had not thrown them out. With that thought, Arden packed a few more pairs of clothes before grabbing the zipper and shutting the bag.
After they had eaten, everyone used the restroom one more time before they got back on the road. Arden and Aurora and Eli all got back into Arden's car and Faith pulled out close behind them. Arden knew that they had several hours left to their trip. Arden glanced back and noticed that Eli was beginning to nod off. Aurora looked back as well and noticed. She looked at Arden and smiled. They kept quiet until Eli slumped over on the seat and was fast asleep. "I noticed something earlier today when we returned from Edith and Roberts," Aurora said. "I am hoping it was just a trick of the mind." "What did you see?" Arden asked as he kept his eyes on the road. "Something dark passed over Eli's eyes. When I knelt down in front of him. It is hard to explain was it is as if a wave a black passed over his eyes." Arden was quiet for a moment. It sounded as though Eli was on his journey to receive his wolf. But how would that be possible? He was only five years old. Arden could not help t
Arden drove down the narrow road that the wolves guided him to. The road wound around the forest and trees. The large pack house came into view a short while later. It was recessed back away from the main highway. Arden pulled the car into a open spot on the gravel driveway that sat in front of the pack house. Arden stepped out of the car first and walked around to the other side. The wolf wo had confronted Arden on the road walked over to the car as well. Aurora averted her eyes as the man was naked. "I would like my mate and her son to remain in the car. Her mother as well. They are humans and not accustomed to our way of life yet," Arden said quickly. He would rather not discuss this in front of Eli as he still did not know Arden and his own true nature. The man looked from Arden and back at the car. He could see Eli's small head in the back seat of the car. He mind linked a few of the other warrior wolves and then nodded to Arden. The man turned on his heel and headed towards
Aurora sat in the car with Eli in the back seat. "What is going on momma?" Eli asked Aurora nervously. Aurora was unsure how to explain to her five-year-old son that another werewolf needed to talk to Arden, who was also a werewolf. "Arden needed to talk to someone that he knows really quickly," Aurora said. She could think of nothing else to say. Aurora glanced in the side mirror at her mother's vehicle. She could not see Faith as the car was directly behind Arden's. She hoped that Faith was seated safely inside and that no one tried to mess with her mother. It felt like forever before Arden's form finally came descending the main stairs and he made his way back to the car. Arden did not look at anyone else as he walked briskly to the car and pulled the handle. Once inside Arden started the car and Faith quickly followed suit and started hers as well. Faith made sure to stick close to Arden and follow him out onto the gravel driveway that would connect them back to the main road th
Aurora watched the tension creep into the room along with the woman with jet black hair that hung around her shoulders and piecing grey eyes. This must be Lila, Aurora thought. The woman's energy seeped from her. Aurora was unsure how Arden's father felt it. Eli moved closer to Aurora upon the woman's entrance into the room. Aurora instinctively put an arm around her son. The movement caught Lila's eye. Her gaze swung to Aurora and her family as they sat on the couch. Lila's back straightened even more before turning back to Arden. "Why would you think that you have any claim over this pack?" Lila asked Arden. "I left in order to find my mate," Arden answered. "I did not reject the Northern Pack." The animosity that Arden felt towards this woman was hard to keep at bay. But he knew that he was not going to get anywhere with his father by arguing with her. He needed to keep the peace in a sense until he could talk to his father alone. Mason nodded his head. "You and I will talk
