His Contract Wife

"Kris! Melanie!" I shouted, I heard rummaging footsteps across the room.  "Coming!" Both of them shouted, I then heard their giggles.

"Hurry up! I'll be late for work!" I shouted back, I'm in the kitchen cooking for their breakfast, I heard the banging of the door, followed by the sound of the smashing sound of the wall and the door I heaved a sigh and focus on the egg that I am cooking.

"Papa! Careful!" I heard Melanie's voice in the sala, followed by the groan of my drunk father, I rolled my eyes as I flip the egg and waited for the other side to cook. I then lift the egg off the pan and place it on the plate, I carry it towards the table where the sandwiches and bread are placed, I then bring the cup of coffee into my mouth and sips a little.

This is the routine every day, I heard my father laugh I turn my head to see what's happening then I saw how she whispered to our youngest sister Melanie and her grinning face, with her eyes sparkling in happiness as she clasped her both hands.

"Really father? Oh! I'll buy toys and dresses!" My sister said as she giggled. "Eat here, hurry I'll be late for my work," I seriously said, I saw how Kris shake her head and sighed, she then walks near the table and grab one of the sandwiches and a glass of milk. "What did he say?" I eyed Melanie who's now grinning like she won in the lottery, with her curly hair bouncing as she giddily put food on her plate, I turn my head to look at kris who is now drinking her milk I raised my brow and look at her intently. 

"He said that he has money and he will take us out of here move somewhere else," Kris said, not believing what he said, I raise my head to look at my drunk father who's now snoring on the sofa, mouth open. I shook my head and sigh, after eating I hurriedly wash the plates and place them neatly in the cabinet while the two are waiting for me to finish, when I am done washing I dried my hands with the kitchen towel, then grab my bag that was placed near to my father's head.

I place a blanket on his body, and followed my sisters outside, I lock the door before going out then walk them to their school. I then walk to where I was working. I smiled as I saw the sign of the coffee shop, near to where I was standing. I hurriedly walk and opened the back door, twisting the door handle open. I greeted Shiera my co-worker who has the same shift as me. She smiled at me and wave her hand.

"Hey! Good morning," I said to her, she just winks and smiled. I walk to our locker room to place my bag in my locker and wear my apron. After wearing the apron I immediately put on a light cheek and lip tint and tied my hair into a ponytail. I glance at the mirror and smiled, before walking out of the locker room, I ran my fingers in the corners as I walk slightly hopping towards my station. 

I took the towel and slowly place it on the table, I then smiled and sighed. I saw the sign on the door was now open. I just sat on the high chair waiting for customers. After a few minutes, I heard the chains of the door someone opened the door, I glance at the door and saw a man wearing a suit, with an expensive Rolex in his hand, wearing black-rimmed glasses.

'Weird and rude' 

I thought, I saw him look around the area and stop his gaze at the corner part of the Cafe, I then pointed to Sheira, she grinned and grab the pen and paper, with a radiant smile plastered on her lips. She then walks near the man who sat in the corner of the Cafe, I smiled when I saw another customer entering the Cafe. 

I look at him smiling. "Good morning! Welcome to Little Cafe!" I greeted him, but he just looks at me with his cold eyes and walks towards the man who's sitting in the corner. I nearly rolled my eyes. 'calm down Lily!' I said to myself, I heard footsteps walking towards the counter and saw Sheira, the blushing cheeks of her are making me wiggle my eyebrows, she just cleared her throat and handed me the paper and motioned the hush gesture, I giggled and entered the order, after entering their order I then look at Sheira and nodded.

After a few minutes, I heard the bell ring which was a queue that the order was done. I called Sheira and motioned the tray, she nodded and walk straight to the station. "The slips," I said as I place the slip on the tray. 

I saw how the arrogant-looking man earlier looks at me again, this time his eyes were looking for something, I just heaved a sigh to focus myself since it's now busy, I greeted and smiled at the customers coming inside the Cafe, The orders are done, I sigh again as I can feel my feet numbing, the tingling of the nerves starts as I slightly move feet in a circular motion trying to ease the numbness.

I glance at the watch on my wrist and sigh, it's almost the end of my shift. I wipe the counter and arranged the mess, I saw Collin cleaning at the tables, I glance at the corner table and saw the two men still sitting there talking. I shrug the thought off and just continue to wipe the counter, I sprayed a little water with detergent to avoid the smell caused by the food and spilled drinks. I arranged the trays and piled them together neatly, while I desegregate the trash, I then tied the trash cellophane and put it aside so Collin-- one of my same shift co-workers could collect it after and put it at the back segregated trash bin.

We finished the day, do cleaning and mopping the floor as the others are slowly coming here to shift with the duty. I walk into our locker room after washing my hands, then I opened my locker and grab my bag, hang my apron at the clips. 

"Lily!" I heard Sheira called me, she then handed me a piece of paper. "The guy in the corner said I should give it to you," She said when she noticed that I didn't accept the paper, it was inside the envelope. "What's that?" I ask her, she just shrugs her shoulder and places the envelope in my hand before walking away. 

My brows furrowed when I saw a mark on the back. I shrug and toss it inside my bag before walking out of the Cafe.
