Sadie’s POV

Princess Delilah stormed into the room. She took one look at me and her brother sitting closely together on the bed and her eyes flew open in shock.

“What are you doing?” she demanded.

“Sadie is wounded. I’m healing her,” Prince Griffin said as though licking someone’s wounds were a perfectly natural occurrence.

Princess Delilah must have known I was back at the palace. Why else would she be in here? I didn’t know how much she knew though. Did she know that Prince Griffin, her own brother, had saved me?

I didn’t know what to do. Princess Delilah narrowed her eyes, giving me a threatening look. She was trying to intimidate me.

“Why are you here?” Prince Griffin asked, his voice dry. “This is my personal bedroom, Delilah. You have no right just barging in like this.”

“I have every right,” she replied haughtily. “I demand to speak to Sadie at once.”

She stood, her hands on her hips, glaring at me. I shuddered. Prince Griffin didn’t know yet that his sister was behind all of t

Sadie’s POV“Griffin, can you please leave me and Delilah alone for a moment?” I asked. His face fell and he shook his head.“Why?”“It’s personal,” I told him. I wasn’t afraid of Princess Delilah anymore. When she found out what I was going to do, she would no longer be a threat to me.“I don’t want to leave you. Not even for a minute,” Prince Griffin said, squeezing my hands. My heart fluttered at his words. He was so different now that we were confirmed mates. Perhaps this side of him had always been there, he’d just been holding back because he wasn’t sure about us. But now that he was sure, he didn’t need to restrain himself any longer.“Please,” I said to him. “It will only take us a moment.”He leaned in and kissed my forehead. “I can’t deny you anything,” he sighed, his breath hot on my forehead. “Take your time, my love. I’ll be waiting right outside the door.”Then he rose from the bed and strode right past his sister. As soon as the door clicked shut, Princess Delilah came

Sadie’s POV“Soldier! Lock Sadie in her room! She’s not to leave until the Lycan Prince’s Luna selection day.”I’d been locked away in my bedroom ever since my father, Alpha Abram issued the command a week ago. Soldiers stood guard at my door, taking turns in shifts. I couldn’t even peek my head out my door, let alone leave!I paced around my bedroom nervously. I was waiting for my sister, Delphine. My heart pounded in my chest and my hands shook. I rubbed them together as I paced. My mind whirled. What if he changed his mind? What if he called it off? I tried to force the intrusive thoughts from my head.He wouldn’t. Not Karter. He loved me and I loved him. We were mates.Which is why we’d decided to defy my father and run away together from the Night Shade Pack.Any moment now Delphine would knock on my door. We’d swap clothes and I’d sneak out of my room, past the guards, and into Karter’s arms. And then? We’d be free.My heart ached for Karter. I longed to hear his voice, to feel

Sadie’s POVI walked quickly through the packhouse, my head down. To my surprise, no one stopped me. I slipped out the back door of the dining hall and burst out into the night air. I was hidden under the blanket of night as I scurried across the garden towards the forest. My heart pounded so hard I thought it was going to break my ribs. But nothing was going to stop me. My mate was waiting for me and together, we were going to start a new life. A happier life.A better life.I weaved my way through the dark forest, ducking under branches and stepping over logs. The crunching of leaves under my feet mixed with the chirping of crickets and the odd, lonely cry of an owl.The moon was full, and it cast just enough light for me to find my way. Not that I needed it. I knew this path by heart.Once or twice, I felt like someone was following me. I glanced back but sure enough, no one was there. Soon enough, I came to the clearing. It was our special spot, Karter and I. The place where

Sadie’s POVI followed the soldier slowly down the hall toward the Lycan Prince. My heart was heavy with the weight of my decision. Could I really do this? Could I really enter the Luna Selection knowing that I might have to give up Karte forever?I felt like the world was collapsing all around me, like the corridor walls were closing in on me as we walked. The guilt clawed at me, making it hard to breathe as I thought of Karter. How could I ever face him after this?My room was just up ahead. My heart ached as I thought about the note from Karter, the one that asked me to run away with him. I’d been so happy that day. I’d been so…A strange noise came from my bedroom, stopping me dead in my tracks. I listened. I heard voices inside the room, familiar ones. My wolf was suppressed so I couldn’t rely on her hearing. I struggled to hear the sounds better. They were moans, I realized. I glanced from the door to the soldier. He must have been able to tell by the look on my face that stoppi

Sadie’s POVBoth Delphine and I followed the soldier, although we kept our distance from each other. I cautiously scanned my surroundings, puzzled as to why this time the Prince’s Luna selection had made an exception by allowing all she-wolves to participate. What was so special about it?We were brought out to the square behind the pack house. Soldiers stood guard around the perimeter. They were a formidable force, with stern faces. The entire pack had already gathered. Apparently everyone was waiting for us.As we approached, a column of soldiers suddenly marched forward. They had an intimidating presence as they split into two rows, making way for a burly, muscular man to step out.I could tell right away that he was the Beta of the Lycan Prince. I could also tell by the way the soldiers regarded him that he was responsible for overseeing the selection process.“Line up,” the Beta barked. “Make two lines,” he ordered, his voice carrying an air of authority.Immediately, the she-wol

  • His Chosen Queen Luna   Chapter 5: The Lycan Prince’s Luna

Sadie’s POVI whipped my head towards the Lycan Prince seated in the shadows. He abruptly stood up, his movement startlingly fluid for someone his size. Standing at his full height, he was much taller than I’d expected. Lycans were naturally more robust than werewolves, possessing a superior strength. But the Lycan Prince was even more imposing. I gasped despite myself as my eye scanned his broad shoulders, his perfectly chiseled muscles apparent under his tailored clothing. His very presence demanded attention, and as he rose, all eyes shifted from the golden slate to him. The she-wolves stared in admiration as he stepped out of the shadows, finally revealing his face for the first time. The moment his full face came into view, the crowd fell silent. His thick brows and full lashes framed his piercing blue eyes, the color of the ocean and just as deep. He had a perfectly sculpted nose that sat directly above a set of sensual, thick lips. His jawline was sharp enough to cut stone. My

Sadie’s POVI waited for the prince to respond, but in the end he said nothing. So… the prince didn’t choose me, right? Disappointment washed over me as I realized I wasn’t able to save my father. What would happen to him? Would they…kill him? All because of my selfish acts. I could hardly bare the thought of it. Could I really do nothing to save him? Tears threatened my eyes but I held them back. I looked out to the crowd and my eyes accidentally fell on Karter’s. I inhaled a sharp breath. The sight of him made my heart feel like it was shattering into a million pieces. He and Delphine had deceived me in the worst possible way. I’d be so naïve. I honestly believed he’d loved me. He never had though. It had all been a lie. And now? I felt utterly foolish standing there in the presence of my pack and the Lycan Prince. I had nothing. No mate, no sister, and probably soon, no father. Grief washed over me. I was despondent. But just as I felt myself sinking into despair, I suddenly hea

  • His Chosen Queen Luna   Chapter 7: Time to Go

Sadie’s POVI inhaled sharply. I had nothing left here. Karter had broken my heart and I’d broken the matebond with him. My dear sister, whom I’d loved fiercely, had betrayed me. The Prince was offering to release my father. Was that not why I entered the Luna Selection in the first place? In the hopes that I could free my father? The choice to go with the Prince was more appealing now than ever. If it guaranteed my father’s release, then I would go. “If I have your word that you’ll release my father, I will come with you to the Lycan Palace,” I stated. The Prince looked as though he already anticipated my decision, like he knew I was going to accept. A knowing smile tugged at his lips. His eyes left mine as he snapped his fingers at his Beta, signalling that it was time to go. The Prince turned to leave. But before he did, he turned back to me, his back facing the crowd. Our eyes locked again, but he looked at me differently this time. His eyes bore into mine. He looked at me as

Sadie’s POVI felt Prince Griffin’s lips hovering just inches from mine. Instinctively, I tried to pull back, but his broad, warm hand slid to my waist, holding me firmly in place. His touch was gentle yet resolute as he guided me back onto the bed, his movements deliberate and unhurried. The intensity in his gaze burned like a roaring flame, locking onto me with a heat that made my breath catch.I wasn’t sure what he was going to do. All I could do was wait, my entire body on fire in anticipation. Then, his soft, moist lips brushed delicately over the wound on my collarbone. His lips were electric. “Mm…” A sound escaped my lips before I could stop it, a quiet moan born of pure instinct. Had I just made that sound? I couldn’t believe I did! My cheeks flushed and embarrassed, I pressed my lips together tightly, determined not to make another sound.Turning my head to the side, I avoided looking at Griffin’s dangerously handsome face. Instead, I choose to focus on his arms braced on eit

  • His Chosen Queen Luna   Chapter 37: Lycan Saliva

Sadie’s POVPhysical intimacy? My face flushed at the words. I wasn’t sure what he meant, but I had a few guesses. This was really what the physician had recommended. That Prince Griffin and I become…physically intimate with one another. “What exactly do you mean?” I couldn’t help but ask, my voice tinged with both curiosity and apprehension.“Take off your clothes,” Griffin said seriously. For a moment, I thought he was joking. He couldn’t be serious. He couldn’t honestly expect me to undress myself in front of him. I’d never been naked in front of man before. Surely, he was just kidding, trying to lighten the serious mood. But the unwavering look on his face told me he was doing no such thing. In fact, his expression told me there was nothing funny about this, not to him. “But I’m injured… I can’t—” I stammered. My body was a mess. It was covered in bruises and whip marks. This wasn’t exactly the way I imagined my body would look the first time I exposed it to a man. Even if I

  • His Chosen Queen Luna   Chapter 36: Two Possibilities

Sadie’s POVMy wolf?My mind flashed back to the room at the whorehouse where I’d been tortured. For a brief moment, Magenta had appeared to protect me. She’d tossed the rogue off of me and my heart had swelled at the sound of her voice. But the moment had been fleeting. As quickly as Magenta appeared, she vanished again. I’d been frantic, desperate for her to stay with me. But she needed time. Yes, that’s what Magenta had said.Prince Griffin’s sharp voice broke through my thoughts. “How did you sense your first mate?”“My wolf felt him,” I replied cautiously. I found his question a little odd, but he obviously had somehow found out about my wolf.“So you do have a wolf?” Griffin pressed, his gaze piercing. I averted my eyes. I could tell what he was thinking. If I had a wolf, why didn’t I tell him? But that was the problem. I couldn’t tell him before. And my inability to tell him had been one of my biggest struggles here at the castle. It was also the reason Prince Griffin was disap

  • His Chosen Queen Luna   Chapter 35: Back at the Palace

Sadie’s POVWe drove back to the palace and when we got there, Prince Griffin opened the door and lifted me out of the car. I wrapped my arms around his neck as he carried me back through the palace door. I wasn’t sure where he was taking me, but I soon recognized the familiar pictures hanging on the wall of his corridor.Inside his room, he gently placed me on the bed and immediately called for the royal physician. Moments later, the physician burst into the room, his medical bag in hand.“What happened?” the physician asked, his eyes wide at the fragile state of me.“She was tortured,” Prince Griffin said. “Examine her at once.”The physician nodded and approached me. He did his examination as carefully as he could, but even the soft touch of his hands made me grit my teeth in agony.“Here love, take this,” he said with sympathetic eyes. “It’s for the pain.” He placed a small pill on my tongue. I gratefully swallowed it down, praying it would provide a quick respite to the constant

  • His Chosen Queen Luna   Chapter 34: Out of the Basement

Sadie’s POVI was so grateful that Griffin had saved me but I felt protective of him. Princess Delilah’s secret was dark and I didn’t want Prince Griffin to have to face the ugly truth or to witness anything I myself couldn’t bear to see.In fact, it was something I didn’t want to face at all. I didn’t know whether or not the rogue knew Princess Delilah’s name, but I decided to intervene. It was best if Prince Griffin didn’t know.“Griffin,” I murmured softly after a long silence, my eyes still tightly shut.I felt Prince Griffin immediately move to my side. He waited quietly for me to speak again.“My wounds… they hurt,” I said weakly. It was the truth, my wounds burned and stung and throbbed, but they’d been like that this entire time. I only brought attention to my wounds in that moment to distract Prince Griffin. I was hoping that his concern for my injuries would make him leave this awful place quickly, without ever finding out that his sister was behind all of this. If Prince

Sadie’s POVI opened my eyes, just a crack, to caution a quick peek, but the moment I did, I wished I hadn’t. The room was a blood bath, mangled pieces of the rogues everywhere. It was one of the most horrifying things I’d ever seen. I slammed my eyes back shut and vowed to not open them again.“I want answers,” Prince Griffin demanded. “And I want them now. You saw what I did to the other rogues. I have no problem ripping off your hands too if you don’t start talking.”The rogue stammered. “I was just… just following orders! My boss told me to pick up the delivery, that’s all I know. You’re asking the wrong person.”“Delivery?” Prince Griffin asked.“Yes,” the man said, his voice riddled with fear. “Someone sold her to our auction house. They… they told us to break her in first…”“Break her in?” Prince Griffin interrupted. I could tell by his voice that he didn’t like the sounds of those words. “What do you mean by ‘break her in’?”“She… told us to torture her…”My mind flashed back

Sadie’s POV“Which hand did you use to touch her?” Griffin’s icy voice cut through the air, laced with authority that made it impossible to ignore. The rogues looked positively horrified. I didn’t blame them. Prince Griffin’s authority hung so thickly in the air it was almost as if we could touch it. I couldn’t see it because I still had my eyes shut tightly. But I could feel it. “I-I didn’t… I swear, I didn’t—” one of the rogues stammered. I peeked my eyes open for a split second and saw that the rouge was trembling.Griffin glared at him. I shut my eyes again. “Lying won’t do you any good now,” Griffin replied, his tone as cold and final as death itself.I could imagine what the rogue looked like in that moment. He was likely wringing his hands in front of him, his face pale. “I... I’ll give up my left hand! As punishment… please, let me go. I don’t want to die. I’m begging you.” I heard the rogue plead desperately, his voice breaking at the end of his sentence. His left hand? Had
