Sadie’s POV

“Where’s Maid Celeste?” I asked, eyeing the maid cautiously. She bowed her head, gave an awkward little curtsey, then came forward. She fiddled with her skirt in a nervous manner as she spoke.

“Head Maid Celeste had other matters to attend to. She assigned me to assist you.” Her voice was shaky and her eyes held a worried look, as though she was expecting some sort of cruel reaction from me.

“That’s perfectly fine. Come,” I said, waving her over. I didn’t care who took my measurements – as long as it wasn’t Prince Griffin. The feel of his hands on my hips flashed through my mind. The heat of his chest. His cold, intense eyes.

I pushed the thought from my head. I would think about that later, when I had more time to sort it all out in my head.

The maid approached me and I stood from the bed. She helped me undress, diligently placing my dress on the bed. Then she took out the measuring tape from her pocket.

I cooperated with the maid while she measured me. She wrapped the ta

Sadie’s POVI was sandwiched between two maids, one on each side. Any hope of escape was out of the question. The car sped along down a dark road, away from the palace, away from anyone who could save me.I had no idea how much time had passed when the car finally came to a halt. The sky outside was pitch black. The maids flung open the car doors and dragged me out of the vehicle. An overwhelming stench hit my nose, making her stomach churn. I gagged against the tape on my mouth. The maids only laughed derisively.I glanced around quickly, taking in my surroundings. We were in a narrow alleyway, bordered by high walls, giving the impression of a hidden, secretive entrance. If I could get away from the maids, maybe I could bolt down the alleyway and find help. But then I remember the chains around my feet. My heart filled with despair. I couldn’t run. And besides, the maids would never let me escape. They were under Princess Delilah’s strict orders and I knew now first-hand how terrify

Griffin’s POVSadie’s missing. The last time I saw her, she was in my bedroom. I’d left her there and instructed Maid Celeste to take her measurements for the wedding gown. I met Celeste in the hallway after my meeting. I was on my way back to my room.“Did you get her measurements?” I’d asked Celeste.“I tried, but Luna Sadie was not in your room,” Celeste told me. I raised an eyebrow at her in suspicion. What did she mean Sadie wasn’t there? That was impossible! But Maid Celeste was adamant, and as the royal family's loyal head maid, she would never lie.So I went to my room to see for myself. And sure enough, Sadie wasn’t there. I didn’t think too much of it at the time. The meeting had run long and it was late. So I just assumed Sadie had gone back to her own room. I was a little perturbed that she had left before Celeste took her measurements. I had, after all, told her to stay and wait. But she was likely exhausted by the day’s events, so I decided to cut her some slack. It wa

  • His Chosen Queen Luna   Chapter 29: Torture

Sadie’s POVI’d only been at the action house for two days, but it felt like an eternity. The days had been filled with torture so cruel and violent, it was like I was living in my own personal, real-life nightmare.I gingerly rubbed a fresh welt on my arm. Even the gentle touch of my fingers made it pulsate with pain. My entire body was covered in lash marks, each one a raw testament to the punishment I’d endured.Without my wolf, my injuries couldn’t heal. I felt fragile and exposed. Every time I took a breath, a sharp pain radiated from my ribs. I suspected that at least one of them was broken.I began coughing violently just as the door creaked open. The air was damp and moldy and it settled in on my lungs, causing my chest to rattle when I inhaled deeply. The man strolled in, carrying a tray of food. He approached me and an acrid, rancid stench accosted my nose. I furled my face in disgust, wondering what could possibly be causing such an awful smell, when I glanced down at the t

Sadie’s POV“Sadie...”It was my wolf’s voice. I recognized it immediately and the moment I did, a surge of golden light erupted all around me. The man on top of me went flying through the air, his arms flailing across the room. His body slammed into the wall with a sickening thud before he crumpled to the floor. I watched, stunned. I didn’t understand what was happening, but I was sure that voice was my wolf’s. A spatter of blood dripped from his mouth and down his chin. He groaned in pain.“Magenta? Is that you?” I asked. “Are you back?’ My thoughts raced as I desperately tried to connect with my wolf. Normally, it was easy to connect but I was struggling. Perhaps it was because she’d just woken up from the suppressant my father had given her. I heard her call my name again and relief flooded through me. If Magenta was back, then I could heal. I could…She cut off my thoughts with her next words.“I want to protect you, Sadie,” Magenta said. Something was wrong. I could hear it in h

A chorus of lewd laughter erupted as they surrounded me again, their filthy hands reaching out from all directions. I tried to curl up into a ball and covered my head with my arms. I couldn’t tell whose hands were whose—there were too many, all groping, tearing at my clothes.I felt my shirt rip. I glanced up and met eyes with one of the rogues. There was danger in his eyes as he licked his lips lasciviously. His face was covered in a thick layer of dirt. He smiled, a lewd smile, and I saw his two front teeth were missing.I didn’t know what to do. There was no way out. I screamed, a piercing cry that echoed through the room. But they al

  • His Chosen Queen Luna   Chapter 40: Endings

Sadie’s POV“Griffin, can you please leave me and Delilah alone for a moment?” I asked. His face fell and he shook his head.“Why?”“It’s personal,” I told him. I wasn’t afraid of Princess Delilah anymore. When she found out what I was going to do, she would no longer be a threat to me.“I don’t want to leave you. Not even for a minute,” Prince Griffin said, squeezing my hands. My heart fluttered at his words. He was so different now that we were confirmed mates. Perhaps this side of him had always been there, he’d just been holding back because he wasn’t sure about us. But now that he was sure, he didn’t need to restrain himself any longer.“Please,” I said to him. “It will only take us a moment.”He leaned in and kissed my forehead. “I can’t deny you anything,” he sighed, his breath hot on my forehead. “Take your time, my love. I’ll be waiting right outside the door.”Then he rose from the bed and strode right past his sister. As soon as the door clicked shut, Princess Delilah came

Sadie’s POVPrincess Delilah stormed into the room. She took one look at me and her brother sitting closely together on the bed and her eyes flew open in shock.“What are you doing?” she demanded.“Sadie is wounded. I’m healing her,” Prince Griffin said as though licking someone’s wounds were a perfectly natural occurrence.Princess Delilah must have known I was back at the palace. Why else would she be in here? I didn’t know how much she knew though. Did she know that Prince Griffin, her own brother, had saved me?I didn’t know what to do. Princess Delilah narrowed her eyes, giving me a threatening look. She was trying to intimidate me.“Why are you here?” Prince Griffin asked, his voice dry. “This is my personal bedroom, Delilah. You have no right just barging in like this.”“I have every right,” she replied haughtily. “I demand to speak to Sadie at once.”She stood, her hands on her hips, glaring at me. I shuddered. Prince Griffin didn’t know yet that his sister was behind all of t

  • His Chosen Queen Luna   Chapter 38: Healing

Sadie’s POVI felt Prince Griffin’s lips hovering just inches from mine. Instinctively, I tried to pull back, but his broad, warm hand slid to my waist, holding me firmly in place. His touch was gentle yet resolute as he guided me back onto the bed, his movements deliberate and unhurried. The intensity in his gaze burned like a roaring flame, locking onto me with a heat that made my breath catch.I wasn’t sure what he was going to do. All I could do was wait, my entire body on fire in anticipation. Then, his soft, moist lips brushed delicately over the wound on my collarbone. His lips were electric. “Mm…” A sound escaped my lips before I could stop it, a quiet moan born of pure instinct. Had I just made that sound? I couldn’t believe I did! My cheeks flushed and embarrassed, I pressed my lips together tightly, determined not to make another sound.Turning my head to the side, I avoided looking at Griffin’s dangerously handsome face. Instead, I choose to focus on his arms braced on eit

  • His Chosen Queen Luna   Chapter 37: Lycan Saliva

Sadie’s POVPhysical intimacy? My face flushed at the words. I wasn’t sure what he meant, but I had a few guesses. This was really what the physician had recommended. That Prince Griffin and I become…physically intimate with one another. “What exactly do you mean?” I couldn’t help but ask, my voice tinged with both curiosity and apprehension.“Take off your clothes,” Griffin said seriously. For a moment, I thought he was joking. He couldn’t be serious. He couldn’t honestly expect me to undress myself in front of him. I’d never been naked in front of man before. Surely, he was just kidding, trying to lighten the serious mood. But the unwavering look on his face told me he was doing no such thing. In fact, his expression told me there was nothing funny about this, not to him. “But I’m injured… I can’t—” I stammered. My body was a mess. It was covered in bruises and whip marks. This wasn’t exactly the way I imagined my body would look the first time I exposed it to a man. Even if I

  • His Chosen Queen Luna   Chapter 36: Two Possibilities

Sadie’s POVMy wolf?My mind flashed back to the room at the whorehouse where I’d been tortured. For a brief moment, Magenta had appeared to protect me. She’d tossed the rogue off of me and my heart had swelled at the sound of her voice. But the moment had been fleeting. As quickly as Magenta appeared, she vanished again. I’d been frantic, desperate for her to stay with me. But she needed time. Yes, that’s what Magenta had said.Prince Griffin’s sharp voice broke through my thoughts. “How did you sense your first mate?”“My wolf felt him,” I replied cautiously. I found his question a little odd, but he obviously had somehow found out about my wolf.“So you do have a wolf?” Griffin pressed, his gaze piercing. I averted my eyes. I could tell what he was thinking. If I had a wolf, why didn’t I tell him? But that was the problem. I couldn’t tell him before. And my inability to tell him had been one of my biggest struggles here at the castle. It was also the reason Prince Griffin was disap

  • His Chosen Queen Luna   Chapter 35: Back at the Palace

Sadie’s POVWe drove back to the palace and when we got there, Prince Griffin opened the door and lifted me out of the car. I wrapped my arms around his neck as he carried me back through the palace door. I wasn’t sure where he was taking me, but I soon recognized the familiar pictures hanging on the wall of his corridor.Inside his room, he gently placed me on the bed and immediately called for the royal physician. Moments later, the physician burst into the room, his medical bag in hand.“What happened?” the physician asked, his eyes wide at the fragile state of me.“She was tortured,” Prince Griffin said. “Examine her at once.”The physician nodded and approached me. He did his examination as carefully as he could, but even the soft touch of his hands made me grit my teeth in agony.“Here love, take this,” he said with sympathetic eyes. “It’s for the pain.” He placed a small pill on my tongue. I gratefully swallowed it down, praying it would provide a quick respite to the constant

  • His Chosen Queen Luna   Chapter 34: Out of the Basement

Sadie’s POVI was so grateful that Griffin had saved me but I felt protective of him. Princess Delilah’s secret was dark and I didn’t want Prince Griffin to have to face the ugly truth or to witness anything I myself couldn’t bear to see.In fact, it was something I didn’t want to face at all. I didn’t know whether or not the rogue knew Princess Delilah’s name, but I decided to intervene. It was best if Prince Griffin didn’t know.“Griffin,” I murmured softly after a long silence, my eyes still tightly shut.I felt Prince Griffin immediately move to my side. He waited quietly for me to speak again.“My wounds… they hurt,” I said weakly. It was the truth, my wounds burned and stung and throbbed, but they’d been like that this entire time. I only brought attention to my wounds in that moment to distract Prince Griffin. I was hoping that his concern for my injuries would make him leave this awful place quickly, without ever finding out that his sister was behind all of this. If Prince
