The evening atmosphere was heavy with expectation, yet within Bella's room, moments appeared to linger. She stared at her phone, wondering what the unread message was all about.

Dave?

She wasn't sure what she felt.

Then she heard her mother's voice.

"Have you finished, dear?" Please don’t think too much about everything. It will all turn out fine.”

She returned to the mirror and looked at her reflection. She absentmindedly traced her fingers over the fabric of the yellow dress, lost in thought.

"You appear gorgeous, Sugar."

Her heart raced when she heard a loud voice behind her. Bel

She glanced at the time—10:57 PM.Would Dave come tonight? She had to speak to someone to release the agitation churning within her. The weight of her mother's decision was heavy in her heart. Leaving the pack was never her plan, but now it was unavoidable. Amanda had been sulking since their mother broke the news, storming off to her room in tears. It wasn’t that she loved the pack—far from it. She resented the way they were treated, but she had friends here, a life she wasn’t ready to abandon. Bella understood. It wasn’t easy. She thought of ringing Eve or Joy, but it was late, and she did not believe they would be awake after a full day at the Alpha's residence. The air between them shifted after that realization, yet Dave made an effort to make her feel at ease.As they walked away from the pack’s territory toward her home, conversation flowed effortlessly. Bella was surprised by how effortless it seemed to talk to him. It was a strange feeling, almost as if his energy had joined with hers. She decided to enjoy it."What is your age?"
