Chapter Thirty Seven

Anna wanted to follow Thompson home, but Thompson didn't like the idea. He said he wants to have some free time for himself.

“Let me follow you home,” she pleaded.

“No, you can't, I have things to do at home please”

“Why? But Marianne was living with you then, why can't I just live with you also?”

Thompson sighed, clearly frustrated but trying to remain calm. "Anna, it's not about you or Marianne. I need space to think, to unwind. My home is where I get that."

"But you let Marianne live with you," Anna pressed, her voice edging on desperation. "What makes me any different?"

Thompson's expression hardened. "You are different, Anna. You're important to me, but this is not the way to prove anything. My relationship with Marianne was... complicated. Things were different back then. And right now, I need to focus on work and clear my head."

Anna's face twisted with frustration. "It’s always about work! You don't seem to have a problem giving Marianne special treatment
