The same rustic smell of old iron beds filled her nostrils. Opening her eyes, she searched for the edge of the bed. Switching off her alarm, she rested her feet on the ground.
With a long, heavy sigh, she searched for her white cane. She stood up and made her way to the restroom.
“Aren’t you supposed to walk without that?” A familiar, heavy voice filled her ears. A shiver ran through her body. She gulped roughly, staring in the direction of the voice.
Straight at his face.
“I… ehmm… I… yes. I must be out of my head,” she stuttered, her hands trembling. She tried to fold the stick and put it aside, but her trembling hands could manage no good.
The man sighed. “I don’t understand why the fuck someone would want to buy you.” He rolled his eyes, snatching the stick, folding it, and putting it aside.
“I… I’m sorry,” she whimpered, her voice shaking with fear.
“Of course you are. Isn’t that the only thing you know how to say properly, Luna?” he scoffed, staring at her in complete disdain.
She lowered her head, fiddling with her fingers. “I’m sorry, Theo,” she whispered again, louder this time, hoping he would leave her alone.
It was nothing new—someone watching her while she slept or someone torturing her in the early morning. It was like a cycle that kept repeating. She wondered when it would all come to an end.
“Well, at least you learned how to identify voices and stopped calling me Matias. I hate that motherfucker,” Theo shook his head and opened a bag of clothes he’d brought.
The sound of a zipper grated against her ears. She was curious about what he held in that bag.
“Go and take a shower. You’re going to the auction today.” Theo sounded disappointed. It had been almost four years since she’d been here, learning how to deceive people by hiding her blindness.
“M…me?” She wasn’t sure she’d heard that right.
“Unfortunately, yeah,” he sighed, picking out some pieces of clothing that could barely be called a full outfit. Theo was disappointed that the only girl he liked here was now going to leave. But, nevertheless, he didn’t treat her the way he liked her.
Luna turned around, counting the steps to the bathroom. She closed the door behind her but suddenly remembered Theo hated when she did that.
Turning on the squeaky shower, a weird thought ran through her mind. What if the person who purchased her treated her like a toy? What if he found out she was blind? Would he treat her like trash too?
“Come on. You’ve washed enough!” Theo entered the bathroom, bringing the clothes. Luna dried herself with the towel.
Stepping out of the shower, she stood in front of Theo. He dressed her, fighting his lingering anticipation to touch her inappropriately since she was going to be sold now.
“Let’s go,” he muttered, turning his head to the side. Taking her hand, he walked her down the halls.
Finally reaching a room surrounded by glass, with a stage in the center where she would stand to be sold. She already knew the steps all around the auction house.
It was a piece of cake to get on the stage without anyone’s help. Theo glanced at Julie. He nodded, and she nodded back.
“Next, gentlemen, I present to you a god fairy. Twenty-four years old, a pure virgin. Fair skin. Dark brown hair and oceanic eyes—Luna Blake.” Julie announced her presence.
As soon as the announcement reached Luna’s ears, goosebumps rose across her body. She wore revealing clothing paired with high heels. Soon, the bids began escalating rapidly.
“A million bucks!” an old man in his sixties shouted at last, his voice hoarse and aged. Luna’s worry deepened.
She knew how this would end. She would be sold to an old man who would abuse her until she died. There was no end to this misery.
“A million, it is then!” Julie shouted with bliss in her voice. Luna frowned.
“Three million!” A young, heavy voice said calmly. An awkward silence filled the room. Luna had no idea what was happening.
The entire auction crew was stunned. Three million was fifty times higher than what they’d paid for her.
“Three million. Done!” Julie shouted, her voice practically dripping with euphoria.
She was clearly ecstatic—so much so that it seemed she might start dancing the minute it was over. Selling a person and rejoicing over it was wicked enough, but this was excessive.
“Hey, Blakie, come on!” Theo whispered sharply. Luna lowered her head and walked toward him.
Julie came down from the announcing room and quickly engulfed Luna in her arms, startling her so badly she stiffened.
“Our lucky charm! I knew you’d bring us a fortune the day we bought you!” Julie flashed a toothy grin.
“You said she was a black sheep,” Theo muttered, rolling his eyes. He wasn’t nearly as thrilled.
“Come on! Let the past go. Get her ready to leave. And look, Luna, keep this in mind—always. Never let the man find out about your blindness, or we’re all done for. He’ll kill you first and then us. Understand?” Julie warned, her voice suddenly sharp and serious.
Today felt strange to Luna. Such civility and sweetness were completely foreign to her in this place.
“Why would he kill her? Who the hell would do that?” Theo frowned, suspicion lacing his tone.
“He’s new. He’s… ehm… a big fish,” Julie replied, clearly hiding something.
“Julie!” Theo narrowed his eyes.
“Fine. He’s a mafia heir. Carson Meyer. If you know, you know,” she said, flipping her hair and dropping a bombshell.
“Wh…what?” Luna whispered in disbelief. The worst she’d imagined was an old man, but a mafia heir? That was far worse.
“You mean that Meyer?” Theo pressed, and Julie nodded. “For fuck’s sake, Julie! Are you out of your mind?” he hissed, rubbing his temples.
“Why are you overreacting?” Julie’s tone was nonchalant.
“Oh, I’m overreacting? Really? You sold her to the Meyer Mafia? Do you even fucking know what he does? Carson Meyer doesn’t ask for reasons before putting a bullet in your head,” Theo growled, kicking the wall in frustration.
“Don’t worry. Luna is good. She’ll do just fine,” Julie shrugged.
“Oh, come on! Whom are you kidding? She’ll tell him the truth the minute he raises his voice at her,” Theo retorted, shaking his head.
“I don’t want to go with him,” Luna whispered, a tear finally slipping past her defenses.
Julie and Theo stared at her blankly for a moment before Julie grabbed her hair. “Of course, you will! Say that one more time, and I’ll make you regret your entire existence,” she hissed.
“I’m sorry,” Luna whimpered, squinting her eyes against the pain.
“Let her go, Julie. She’s not a threat right now,” Theo intervened, pulling Julie’s hand away.
“What’s going on?” Drake’s voice boomed as he walked alongside Carson toward them.
Everyone froze. Luna lowered her head slightly, keeping her gaze down. Carson’s eyes landed on her. Suddenly, his regret over throwing money at her shifted into pride.
Behind the glasses, he couldn’t see her clearly, but she was strikingly beautiful—enough to be worth the price. Still, three million seemed outrageous, even for her.
“Hello, Mr. Meyer. We were just preparing your purchase to leave,” Julie said awkwardly, laughing weakly before stopping when no one else joined in.
“She’s a girl, not an item. Show some respect,” Drake snapped, his dragon tattoo and glasses instantly recognizable.
“Sorry, Sir,” Julie bit the inside of her cheek.
Carson didn’t take his eyes off Luna, and she didn’t look up once. His patience wore thin. He was desperate to see those oceanic eyes, but she wouldn’t meet his gaze.
“We’ll have her ready by ten. Please, come with me. I’ll show you around in the meantime. Theo!” Julie signaled him to take Luna away and do the necessities.
He grabbed her wrist and was about to leave when Carson interrupted.
“Stop!” he growled.
Theo and Luna turned around. She was perfectly trained to look into the eyes of whoever spoke. Using the sound of his voice, she directed her gaze to him.
“Make her wear proper clothes. Cover her completely,” Carson ordered, raising an eyebrow as he eyed her vulnerable figure.
“Yes, Sir,” Theo nodded and hurried away with Luna.
Theo threw a piece of the shirt at her. It wasn’t particularly her shirt, she sensed. Running her fingers over the silk, she could feel it. Bringing it closer to her eyes, she realized it was a black shirt.“Wear it,” Theo muttered, reaching for a leather electric shock collar. He sighed, watching her as she pulled on the shirt. He walked toward her and pulled her neck close. Fastening the collar around her neck, he said, “Drake has a dragon tattoo on the left side of his neck. Short curly hair. Black-framed specs. Dark brown eyes.”“Okay,” she whispered, biting her lip at the pinch of the collar pressing against her skin.“Carson Meyer is the person you are sold to. He has dark brown eyes, no specs, and straight jet-black hair. It’s short, though. And you already recognize their voices, if I’m not wrong, right?” Theo turned around, holding the blindfolds.“Yes, Theo,” she replied, keeping her voice low—most probably because she couldn’t speak boldly, knowing she was sold to someone wh
Luna sighed as she started to find the bathroom to get changed.“Change here,” he demanded, sending shivers down her spine. Even a simple hiss from his mouth was enough to make her worry to no end.“I…” She blinked rapidly, not knowing what to do. Keeping her head lowered, she whispered, “I don’t feel comfortable…” exactly what she shouldn’t have said—and she knew that.“Did I buy you to comfort you?” He raised his brow. The only thing he found annoying about Luna was how she kept lowering her eyes rather than looking at him.“I’m sorry,” she mumbled, tightly holding onto the lingerie. Her heart almost jumped into her throat as she tried to argue with someone who could literally kill her without a shred of remorse.“Sorry for what?” he asked, sighing and rubbing his temples. “Fine. Make it quick, or I might come in there and make you wear it myself.”She raised her head slightly. “Y… Yes, sir…” she stuttered before quickly walking toward the bathroom with the help of the wall.He watch
The pinch of pain shot through her head. Slowly and gently, she opened her eyes, but her vision remained unfocused—a blur of bright surroundings within a three-meter radius. She swallowed hard and hissed as a sharp sting flared at her neck. Suddenly, memories flooded back. This collar. Her fingers lightly traced the device, and she realized with dread that it was electrified.“Pretty smart moves, huh?!” A cold, harsh voice echoed through the room, sending shivers down her entire body. She knew she had messed up. He would surely kill her for even attempting to escape.Abruptly, she straightened her back, gritting her teeth against the pain. Carson, watching her struggle, sighed heavily. She’s definitely a lot of work. The thought crossed his mind as he began to approach her.The moment his hand brushed her arm to help her up, her reflexes kicked in. She flinched back, rejecting his touch. Carson paused, momentarily surprised, but dismissed it quickly.“I’m just helping you,” he murmured
“We are here,” Drake remarked, leading her into the biggest room in the mansion. Unfortunately, Luna couldn’t notice that though. “I’ll show you around,” he smiled softly, offering his hand to her.For a moment, it felt strange for him to offer a hand. ‘Does he know my weakness?’ she thought, and a series of quivers ran under her skin. She couldn’t even imagine what would happen if someone discovered that she was blind.“I’ll walk by myself. Thank you,” Luna hesitated. She really didn’t want to get caught in her act.Drake sighed and took her hand by surprise. Slowly and at a gentle pace, he moved around the room, letting her take her time to adjust. He didn’t mind her touching the things since they were hers now. But he definitely minded her living in the same room as Carson.“Here is the bathroom. Careful with the steps.” Drake seemed overly cautious about all the spots she might miss. Again and again, his actions and words made her wonder if he knew, but then again, one answer alway
“I think you should see a doctor as well,” Carson said, his concern for Drake clear in his eyes. For a moment, Drake stood frozen in his spot. That worry, which had never been there before, was suddenly back. He could feel the old friend he had missed for so long within Carson. Why was he suddenly worried now? Carson had never cared when Drake got shot three times in his arms and legs.“Uhm… I don’t think it’s that severe, though,” Drake said, feeling a bit uneasy with the sudden change. It’s true that sudden changes, even if they are acts of love and care, can feel uncomfortable and unreliable at the beginning.Carson sensed the discomfort and quickly took his hand away. “Yeah, alright,” he muttered, his temples twitching as he opened the door and stepped inside the room.‘Is this uneasiness going to last all night?’ Carson sighed internally, noticing Luna’s eyes fixed on him. He didn’t want her to know how he felt around her.Without uttering a single word, he left to wash up. Luna’s
A sigh escaped his mouth as he reached the car. Glancing back at the door, he felt a wave of self-loathing wash over him for reasons he couldn’t quite place. Looking around, he put his iPad on the car roof and took out a cigarette, lighting it up.Drake fell deep into his memories of her. The first time he saw her was like witnessing a ray of sunshine in that filthy, pigsty of a place called the human auction house. Even amidst the despair and darkness, she had sparkled—a vision of light that felt almost impossible to look away from. Her smile had been radiant when their eyes met—a smile that still managed to flutter his heart, even now.“You dirty bitch! Mop it up quickly! I don’t want to see that old faggot’s semen all over the place!” a bossy woman shouted, smacking the girl on the head as she rushed to the other side of the room. The smile vanished from the girl’s face, and Drake’s heart sank into a pit of sorrow. His hatred for that wretched place festered further, burning hotter
“Grand entrance as always.” Top huffed, shaking his head while watching Carson approach.“That piece of shit needed that much,” Greg replied, his tone annoyed and fed up. That took Carson’s attention, but he knew what it was likely about.“How did the announcement go?” Carson asked, adjusting his suit while taking a seat. Drake pinched the bridge of his nose, settling beside Carson.“Same old Italian shit! I can’t be with him. Apparently, it hurts his mafia pride. A son being gay in the mafia ain’t acceptable.” Top sighed, remembering his father’s clear words. He poured wine for Carson and Drake.“It’s okay, babe. I’m not leaving you,” Greg reassured him, snickering as he planted a kiss on his lips. Top blinked, giving him a tight smile, reluctantly agreeing.“I’ll be right back,” Greg whispered, rushing to the restroom. As Greg walked away, Top’s expression shifted, the happiness giving way to sorrow and uncertainty. Carson and Top had been friends for years now. From business partner
“Get me everything on Yakim,” Carson ordered while walking toward the car, and Drake followed him behind.“Everything dirty or corrupted, you mean?” Drake was just making sure of Carson’s orders.“You dumbass! How many years has it been and you still gotta ask that? Everything means everything. Even his fucking family.” Carson spat out at Drake, growling with an unknown irritation at seeing Yakim’s face on his property.‘I feared this day would come. Does he really need to go to such lengths? I need to talk to Mr. Russell before he does something foolish. He needs to learn that we don’t hurt women and children,’ Drake went deep into his thoughts about how scary and heartless Carson was getting day by day without missing any.“Are you gonna drive or sleep?” Carson glared in the mirror at Drake. Without uttering a single word, Drake drove off.“Turn left. Go to the East warehouse,” Carson calmly ordered, deeply reading something on the tablet he was holding. Drake glanced in the mirror,
A knock at the door startled her from her thoughts. Before she could respond, it swung open, revealing Carson. His eyes swept over her, taking in the elegant dress and carefully styled hair.Soon his expressions shifted into pure rage as he saw Drake kneeling in front of her, holding her hand. Drake quickly let go and stood up straight.Carson scoffed, “Seriously!”Carson's jaw clenched, his eyes darkening as he glared at Drake. "Leave us," he commanded, his voice low and dangerous.Drake hesitated for a moment, his gaze flickering between Carson and Luna. Finally, he nodded, backing towards the door. "Of course, sir," he murmured, closing it softly behind him.As soon as they were alone, Carson turned his attention back to Luna. His hand shot out, gripping her chin and forcing her to look up at him. "What exactly was going on here?" he demanded.Luna's heart raced, her breath coming in short, panicked gasps. "N-nothing," she stammered. "He was just explaining my role for tonight."Ca
Her throat felt parched, as though a raw dryness was settled in, making it hard to swallow. Her lashes trembled, threatening to let the rivers fall a-art from her eyes. All she could think about for now was the past. The past that had haunted her for years. The past that she eventually believed she had let go of. It was all coming back. The screams of her loved ones echoed in her ears like thunderstorms rumbling.“Luna?” A soft whisper in a low, husky voice, desperate to bring her out of her trance-like state. Carson’s hand softly rested on Luna’s cheek, which was burning like flames. His other hand gripped onto both of her hands on her knees, fiercely but tenderly.“Shh… it’s going to be alright,” he whispered, getting closer to her face, his eyes glazing with concern, frantic to find hers.“I… I’m sorry,” a murmur left her lips, almost quite like a still stream.Carson wasted no time embracing her. “There is nothing to be sorry about. It’s all going to be fine.” He felt a sudden ach
Rustling sounds, which usually make one annoyed early in the morning, were too loud to bear while sleeping. Luna slowly opened her eyes, rubbing the tip of her nose. She sat up straight, listening to two men talking.“You have two days. JUST TWO DAMN DAYS.” Carson grunted, glaring dead into Drake’s eyes.“Yes, Sir, I got it.” Drake replied, taking a deep breath, the tension in the room palpable.Carson’s eyes suddenly followed Luna’s to the bed. “Look who’s with us. If it ain’t your forbidden love,” he huffed, murmuring the last words under his breath.Luna looked down, shrugging, squeezing her chin in between her knees. Did I do something wrong again? she thought to herself, staying silent. The last thing she wanted was to draw his ire. She didn’t bother herself much since she didn’t hear him anyways, however the way he left slamming the door made her a bit bothered by it.Carson walked off without even sparing a single affectionate glance in her direction. Drake stood there startled
“What the hell just happened?” Luna whispered, hugging her legs in the bathtub, the lukewarm water rippling softly around her trembling body. Her mind was in turmoil, spinning with thoughts of how slaves at other houses were treated. She had heard the horrifying stories—tales of unimaginable abuse and cruelty, of slaves broken beyond repair. She knew for certain that none of them received this kind of treatment. No kindness, no care, no reprieve—especially not after trying to escape. Her lips quivered as a darker thought surfaced, chilling her to her core. What if this was a façade? What if he planned to share her, to parade her around as some kind of twisted entertainment, forcing her to perform degrading, unspeakable acts in front of an audience? She had heard those stories too. The slaves who were returned—battered and hollow-eyed—had recounted every harrowing detail of their torment.‘Maybe they were lying. Or… maybe something is weird with this guy,’ she thought to herself, biting
Luna blinked and turned her head toward the direction of his voice. Slowly, she placed her bare feet on the cold floor. A sharp chill pierced her soles, traveling upward, leaving a trail of goosebumps along her skin. The cold seemed to seep into her very bones, heightening her vulnerability. She wore a loose T-shirt she’d found in the closet—a garment so oversized it seemed to hang precariously on her small frame, threatening to slip off her shoulders with the slightest movement. The soft fabric brushed against her skin, but its warmth was no match for the icy floor beneath her feet. Her hand was still wrapped with a small band-aid. She bit her lip, trying to steel herself against the discomfort as she cautiously made her way toward Carson. His sharp, unrelenting gaze followed her every step, each movement of hers seemingly scrutinized under his watchful eyes.“Sit,” he murmured, his legs spreading slightly as he gestured to his thighs. Luna couldn’t see them clearly, but she understoo
The screams echoed in the dimly lit room with no windows, only a metal door containing a small bar hole. The air reeked of sweat, fear, and something metallic—blood, perhaps. The three men were tied to chairs, electric cables tightly wound around their bodies, leaving no room for escape. Sparks occasionally flew from the exposed wires, casting brief, flickering shadows on their strained faces.“Open your mouths, and this will end,” Carson said calmly, his voice low and menacing, a chilling smile playing on his lips.“You damn psycho! Do whatever you want. We are not Americans. We live and die with loyalty. No one here is going to tell you anything about our boss,” Reese growled, his voice sharp despite the pain coursing through his body. He hissed in agony as the electric current continued to surge through his veins, his muscles spasming involuntarily.Carson sighed, staring at Reese as though he were a misbehaving child. “Guess then I’ll have to hold my words on that bet.” His voice w
The rustic metal smell filled her nostrils. She abruptly opened her eyes and tried to get out of bed.“You love to sleep, don’t you?” Carson chuckled, placing the food tray on the side of the table. Luna kept her head down, and then she realized—her collar was gone. She was free. Her hand instinctively reached for her neck. Relief washed over her as she touched the now bare skin.“Don’t get too excited. It was removed because you got sick.” Carson blankly stared at her before grabbing her chin and making her look at him. “But if you don’t behave, I can promise to put it back on. You got that?”“Ye…yes, Sir,” she replied, her lips trembling with fear.He leaned closer, grinding his teeth. Luna could feel his breath against her lips. “Good kitty. Now eat your dinner and stay where you are. Try running away once more, and I’ll take you to my dark side.” He smirked, tucking a strand of her hair behind her ear.“I…I’m sorry… Sir,” she stammered, almost letting her tears fall in front of him
Somehow, hearing those words from his mouth sent a vital, electrifying sensation coursing through her veins, making her long desperately for more. No matter how profoundly she wanted to, his hand around her neck refused to permit it. His firm grip was a reminder of his control—a reminder that she was completely at his mercy. He kept grazing over her soft, pure skin like a hungry beast, not giving her a single chance to breathe. His lips were relentless, teasing her with light, feathery kisses before trailing lower, setting her body on fire. He knew exactly what he was doing, methodically working his way to her core, placing soft and gentle kisses along her trembling body. Her mind was blank, devoid of any thoughts about what might happen after this night, as if she had been consumed by a trance. She wanted to live solely in the moment, oblivious to the future that awaited her. The heat between them was undeniable, and for the first time, she wondered if giving in to this strange, forbi
“Do you really want to keep her here?” Drake asked, glancing around the shabby room.“She should have been put here in the first place,” Carson replied calmly, his tone sharp. Drake flinched, his eyes lingering on Luna’s frail figure.“Go to your room. I’ll call you when it’s time to change the IV,” Carson ordered, putting out his cigarette with deliberate slowness. He smirked, turning his back to Drake. “Or maybe I’ll do it myself.”“Yourself? But you don’t even know the basics of how to—” Before Drake could argue further, Carson spun around, his cold glare silencing him instantly.“Shut up and leave! Always remember who’s in charge. I’m not your friend anymore, so stop talking down to me. I’ve got a limit, and you’re pushing it.” Carson’s icy stare lingered until Drake reluctantly took the cue and left the room, the door shutting softly behind him.Carson sighed, his shoulders relaxing slightly as he looked at Luna. “It’s just the beginning, and you’re already in such misery,” he mur
