Chapter 0002

Max’s POV

“She will be 18 tomorrow,” Vicky my mate teases me as we get in bed. “And if tradition holds she will be mated tomorrow night. I told her to enjoy her last night in her bed alone.”

“I’m an old man and she is my last daughter. Can’t you have some form of grief too. She is your last daughter too,” I tell her.

“Yes but as her mother I want her to find a mate, have pups and all. Its the boys I worry about. Kelvin is only 14 so I have time before my grief sets in.” She runs her hand over my chest.

“I promise to be just as heartless to you as you are being to me,” I tease her back. “We did make six great kids. Rebecca mated to the second most powerful Alpha, Mary mated to the third, Anna mated to a strong Beta. Whoever gets Kelly will be blessed. Sam about to named Alpha’s heir, Kelvin will be mine. We have six amazing kids.”

“Well Beta maybe we should make another pup. Six clearly isn’t enough,” She giggles as we start to make love. We start with her on top. After 26 years together I still can’t get enough of her. Her body is still amazing. I remember the day I met her. I saw no one or nothing. My vision only saw her.

“MAX!” She whisper screams. Our packhouse is so old the room aren’t soundproof.

I roll us over as she comes down and I thrust into her. Soon I’m finishing too.

“How does that still feel amazing after all these years?” Vicki asks as we cuddle up.

“Years ago we went all night,” I laugh.

“Think about Kelly tomorrow night, she will be going all night,” Vicki teases me.

“That is not funny,” I growl as I start to tickle her.

“Oh I think it’s very funny Beta. You want her to be a little girl forever, but she is a woman now,” Vicki cups my face in her hands. “You have to let her grow up.”

“I will tomorrow, but today she is still my little girl.” I say holding her.

We fall asleep in each other’s arms.

My Alpha’s growl awoke me. I hear footsteps running down the hall for the stairs.

Vicky was already up and to the door. Even after 6 pups my mate can move like lightning.

“Someone is headed for the Alpha’s room,” she says. I am on my feet stepping into boxers.

My sons Sam and Kelvin were right behind me. Even without wolves my boys are ready to defend their pack.

I hear Alpha’s door slam shut, I run, and bang hard.

“Alpha, are we under attack? Alpha answer me,” the door is locked twice no way to break it down. The boys flank me ready for whatever comes out of this door.

Attack my Alpha, get killed, no question. Not that my Alpha can’t take care of himself. He is more than capable. My sons in law two Alphas and a Beta join us in the hall. The Alpha Lord’s growl has that effect on us. Our Gamma Ralph shows up with his mate ready for a fight. The whole house was ready.

Lucas’s POV

I have just tossed Kelly on the bed when I hear the first bang. By releasing her I was able to regain control.

“Cover up, then don’t move,” I mouth. Max’s hearing was perfect. Thankfully his sense of smell was beginning to fail.

Kelly did as I commanded. Good girl. Yeah GIRL, I thought. Max’s little girl. His youngest. Only yesterday he confided in me, he hoped she would go unmated for a while. Stay his little girl for a little while longer. Thank you goddess, you have a weird sense of humor. I grab a blanket to cover myself, her scent is all over me.

Max won’t stop banging. I’m sure everyone in the house is awake at this point, possibly the village.

I open the door and Max stops with his hand up.

“We heard you growl in pain, then footsteps. Are you alone Alpha?” Max said almost out of breathe. Poor wolf had four daughters before a son. Still had one year before Sam was 18 and can take over.

I look down the hall and see my guests have also rushed to my aide.

“No need to worry, it was a fight between me and my beast. It happens sometimes,” I hear even Calvin start to laugh in my head.

Calvin- Yeah we are fighting. Reject our mate and see what kind of fight you get!

“Happened to me more than once,” Alpha Kendall confesses with wink. “I told Rebecca that was it, she insisted I check. Still loyal to her Alpha.” He bows a little. Kendall was a good Alpha, strong and thankfully my ally. He is not anyone I would want as an enemy. “I hope my pack is as loyal to me.”

I nod in thanks to him.

Sam is eyeing me up and down. Damn it Sam, best tracker in the pack. I had chosen him to be my heir. He smells her, he knows. I want to mind link him to tell him to keep his mouth shut but can’t he is still underaged, not a full member of my pack.

“Alpha are you sure you okay?” Sam asks looking me up and down. “It’s not like you and Calvin to fight.”

“Don’t worry kiddo, when you get your wolf you will understand,” Alpha Jacob adds. Third most power Alpha in the country.

In fact the top three are standing here. Me, Kendall and Jacob.

“I’m sure Alpha Lord will be better in the morning,” Beta Alex, Max’s third son-in-law comments.

“Come friends let us away,” Kendall quotes Shakespeare to clear my hallway.

“Good night all,” I take my leave.

I go back to the bed after locking the door. Kelly is covered in a blanket. I almost laugh as I think about Kelly. I held her the day she was born. I watched her grow up. She was growing up just for me. My perfect partner was raised right here.

I pull the blanket and she crawls to me.

“I need to reject you know that,” I say.

“Don’t do this,” she looks up at me.

Her face! Her Eyes! Big Brown Eyes!

“Kelly,” I whisper, as she touches my chest.

“Alpha,” Kelly whispers as she runs her hands up my chest and around my neck. Her body is so close my hands can’t help but wrap around her waist.

As we grip each other our lips are so close.

She is warm and soft, not fragile at all. She is my youngest female warrior. I was actually sad that she might leave after mating. If I reject her that is what happens. If I accept her she becomes my Luna.

I am losing control again. I smell desire on her, desire for me.

She presses her lips to mine. Oh she has soft lips. I lose control and kiss back, wrapping my arms tighter around her. I leaned in and she pulls me on top of her and wrapping her long legs around me. Thank goddess for the the blanket. My boxers were not containing me at all. She starts to move under me.

Control. I shouted to myself and pulled away.

“Not tonight,” I am breathless as I regain my stance at the foot of the bed. “I need to talk to your parents, to the elders.This is not a simple thing. You are extremely young.” I glance at the lock 12:15am. “Barely legal, and let’s face it, the daughter I never had. So let’s back up and take a breathe.”

“But you won’t reject me,” she looks at me and needs me to tell her no. Her eyes were begging me.

Calvin- If you reject her I’ll never speak to you again. This is the mate we have waited for. Don’t blow this.

Me-Hush.

Calvin- No- don’t blow this.

I think for a second. She is amazing. Like all the females in her family. Her mother is the daughter of an Alpha, her father’s side has been Beta’s for this pack since it formed. Every daughter is married to a strong Alpha or a strong Beta.

She sees my hesitation and gets off the bed. “Think about it tonight before you decide.” She starts for the door.

“Don’t leave,” I say almost begging. “We can’t have sex, but I want you here. I want you in my bed.”

Her face softens and she smiles a little. She almost skips to the bed and gets in on my side. I don’t care. She smiles at me and pats the other side.

I smirk at her. Little vixen, I’m not going to win. I need to put a barrier between me and her. I grab my tightest fitting jeans and head to the bathroom. As I shut the door I hear her laugh. What an amazing laugh.
