Claire’s heart thumped so hard in her chest as she watched Marissa fearlessly enter the circle of duel. “She’s one beautiful and brave human, I’ll give her that”. Kali said to Claire who just glared at her, and looked away. Focusing on every move Marissa made. Claire’s plan was to step in once the fight started, but Kali could guess that which was why she came to stand beside her. This annoyed Claire to no end. The fight started with a whistle, and on the sound of the whistle, the warrior Marissa was dueling with, immediately landed a blow to her face that caused her stumble all the way to the line of the circleThe rules of the duel were: No killingThe first one out of the circle is automatically the loser.Whoever yields lost. Her falling to the line of the circle caused some ‘ooos’ and ’aaas’. At this point, it wasn’t just the warriors, and Claire watching, but a crowd had gathered just right outside the training ground to watch. Many rooted for the warrior but some few ro
“What bad news?”. Dario asked back through the mindlink as he walks out of the dining room with haste, immediately forgetting his meal. There was only one thing he told James to look into and ‘bad news’ meant that it concerned his mate. “I’m on my way to you”. Dario replied through the mindlink, shifting into his wolf as he steps out of the door. He knew exactly where James was. “What bad news James?”. Dario asked in a tone of urgency as he reached the wooden shack, shifting back to his human form in a split second. His clothes still intact. “I found more of Marissa’s past as I was investigating on the source of the whirlwind. Her aunt is a witch. A very powerful one at that”. James said, showing Dario some papers, one of which showed an image of baby Marissa and the woman in question. One thing Dario recognized from the photo was the woman’s necklace. It was an old relic. One that even the elves possessed several years ago. That necklace could not be worn by just any creature
Dario had finally discovered traces of witchcraft and some elven magic, which had him on his toes as elves were the creatures he detested the most, and knowing that there was a possibility of them still existing annoyed him to no end. From the whirlwind investigation, he had been seeing some strange things like floating objects, unnecessary thunder and lightning, and strange insects around the house. He was now sure that indeed there was either a witch or an elf, hovering around or close to the pack house. “James, you’re in charge for two days. I need to go on a little trip”. Dario states as he walks around, grabbing the things he needed for his ‘little trip’. His plan was to make the creature reveal itself and if there was anyone that could do that, it was him. Before the war, he grew up with elves and witches. Whenever they played hide and seek the elves and witches always loose because they could be summoned with three easy steps, whether they wanted to or not. The only reaso
“Alpha hunted this for you”. A woman in an apron said to Marissa, holding a large tray of a dead bloody animal. The sight made Marissa squirm. It had been a while since she saw something so gore which made her feel like vomiting and so she ran to her new room, Dario’s room to throw up in the bathroom. However, as soon as she got turned the door knob in attempt to lock the door, she got the shock her life as the door locked itself. Before she could react, a hand was on her throat strangling the life out of her. She couldn’t see anything apart from the persons eyes as black was all the person wore from the head to toes. Marissa struggled and struggled but to no avail. After a short minute of struggling, she started to give up as she had lost all the strength she had. All the fight in her was gone.“This person is not ordinary”. She thought as she could literally feel her strength and everything in her draining. On realization that she was about to die, a tear fell from her eyes, an
The pain he felt in his chest could not be quantified by anything in this world. The shock, the disappointment, the pain, the heartbreak, and most of all, the loss of hope. “How! How! How!”. Dario roared at the top of his voice, smashing his fists into the table that was now just pieces of wood. Over all the things he felt, the betrayal hurt the most. “She had been lying and pretending all this time James! All this time! I was fooled for months!” He roared out again, this time collapsing on the couch with tears rimming down his eyes. The one chance he had at a mate after waiting for a century, had to be an elf, and a betraying one at that. Everytime he remembers what happened yesterday. It feels the same way all over again. Flashback“Marissa?”. He asks, praying so hard that the person he was seeing was a witch’s hex and not really his Marissa. “What’s going on?”. She asks, as the vines cling to her not letting no matter how hard she tries to loosen it. “Dario, please help!”.
Marissa could not remember the time she cried this much. Her heart and body was in so much pain that her body was failing her. The man that claimed to be her mate and treasure her, had locked her up without food and water for 3 days now. It wasn’t foreign to her but it hurt so bad because she was beginning to like and trust him already. “That’s what you get for trusting people”. A creature in a full black cloak spoke to her. The voice startling her as she turned to look at the source of the voice. Only to find out that this was the same thing that strangled her the other day. Panic and anger filled her immediately as she got into defense mode, but it only laughed. The voice neither resembling that of a man or woman. It got her very confused and so she asked. “Who are you and what do you want from me”. Her voice shaky from lack of everything. Sleep, food, water, cold, and pain. “I-I’m you”. The thing replied. A confused and annoyed frown pastes itself on her face as she fully tu
“She should be executed!”. One elder from the far side of the table shouted.“I agree”. Another elder voices, and in no time, the whole room was noisy with all the elders of the council agreeing and soliciting for an execution of Marissa. “Silence!”. Dario ordered, pain gripping his chest because deep down, he knew he had to choose. His mate or the wishes and harmony of his people. The council was formed ages ago, even before he was born, and was filled with the oldest and wisest werewolves in the 20 packs. It was law that any decision made unanimously by them, would stand but Dario wasn’t having it. “That woman were talking about is my mate. Don’t forget that”. He says to them, his voice and tone so commanding that it got the whole room silent. A pin drop would be a loud sound in this conference room right now. “We apologize Alpha. However, the elders are not wrong. Even as a human, Marissa is not worthy of the throne and of being your mate. Now she’s an elf? Even worse”. Amel
The rumor about Alpha Dario’s mate being an elf had spread like wildfire through the 25 packs. Now, all the alphas of the 25 packs were calling and advocating for her execution. “This is such a mess. What do we do?”. James asked, panicking and pacing round Dario’s office. James looked even more troubled than Dario about this matter. There was literally a crowd outside the pack house trying to seek an audience with their alpha. Also, clamoring for the the execution of Marissa. This made him so mad but he couldn’t blame them either. Even he had a hard time accepting it, accepting her for who she was. Dario knew that it would be very hard to convince his people or make them accept her as soon as his rage was down after discovering that she was an elf so he wasn’t surprised. However, he didn’t anticipate that it would be this bad. There were at least 600 werewolves outside the pack house, shouting and chanting, which meant that almost everyone in the 20 packs were outside chanting:
