Christopher just got free. It was currently 11:30.
"Bye Christopher." One of the employees said as they both left the building together.
"Bye Alicia. Be careful while walking home." Christopher said out of curtsy. He is a gentle man.
"You too." The girl replied when they both parted going opposite directions.
Christopher took his phone out calling Miles. It just kept on ringing, but no one was picking up. He was worried, Miles never missed a call, but he was a bit relieved understanding it was so late. He is asleep by now.
Christopher cut the call and called Lucas. He knew younger will be awake. He sleeps really late. And just as he thought the call was picked on the third bell.
"Hello." Lucas said uninterestingly.
"Lucci." Christopher said.
"Ofcourse you called me so I'll speak dumbass." Lucas scoffed.
"Where is Miles?" The name alone infuriated Lucas.
"He actually should be at museum for his weird personality but he is in your apartment." Lucas laughed.
"Find a lock for your big mouth, Volkov." Christopher didn't like one bit Lucas insulting Miles. Of course he don't know the guy or else he would never say that about him.
"Don't call me that." Lucas hated him calling him by his surname.
"Where is he?"
"At your apartment safe and sound." Lucas replied.
"Did he eat?"
"How would I know. I'm at my own apartment doing my homework dude. Get off my ass now." Lucas said irritated by the name.
"Well fuck you Volkov. I told you to stay with him." Christopher's speed up the car.
"No thanks I'm not interested in you. You are not my type." Lucas didn't one bit felt ashamed.
"I'll be home shortly, and I'll kick your ass Volkov."
"I said don't call me that."
"And I asked you to stay by his side did you do as i asked?" Christopher was about to cut the call.
"You and your friend can go to hell." Lucas yelled and cut the call. Christopher knew that was normal for them. He didn't bother much and made his way to his home.
Soon he was home. He first thought to visit Lucas but then he thought he has already destroyed his mood enough he isn't going for another fight now.
He pulled open the door of his own apartment walking inside. He placed his blazer and keys on living room couch and made his way to Miles's room.
As soon as he opens the door he saw Miles sleeping on the bed but he wasn't having a cover over him and he was still in his school clothes drenched in sweat.
At first Christopher thought to wake him but then stopped thinking he must have been tired that he slept so early. He saw the AC wasn't on so he just switched on the AC and covered him with a duvet and walked out closing the door softly.
Christopher made himself a quick ramen before changing and also going into his room. Today the day was tiring for him also. He just wanted a bed.
As he came out of the bathroom, he saw his phone buzzing. It was still on silent, so he ran and picked the call.
"What is it?"
"Are you awake?"
"Yeah. Was going to sleep." He replied.
"Wait I'll be there. I made ramen and saved one bowl for you." Lucas said hurriedly and Christopher can hear some shuffling from other side probably Lucas picking the bowl.
"I just ate it. Keep it in fridge, I'll take it tomorrow. I'm really tired right now." Christopher yawned.
"Oh okay. Then it'll be in the fridge. Good night." Lucas said. It was okay as they mostly shared food and they knew each one of them will have something to eat in their fridge all the time. Perks of single life.
"Lucci." Christopher stopped him before cutting the call again.
"Yup." Lucas replied with a heavy breath indicating he also just lied down on the bed.
"What time is your class tomorrow?"
"Why do you ask?" Lucas asked.
"You can take Miles with you right. Please." Christopher asked.
Ahh not again.
"Yeah sure." Lucas said sweetly. He just keeps that revenge thing to himself only.
"Thank you Lucci." Christopher said cutting the call. Both discussed the time and cut the call. Christopher just rolled over and in no time drifted to sleep.
Lucas now knows the passcode to Christopher's apartment that means he doesn't have to wake Christopher up. So just like the best friend they are Lucas was inside the Christopher's apartment.
His first and foremost thing to do was make way to kitchen. He didn't have breakfast because he wasn't having bread at home so he thought instead of walking twenty floors down he should just use Christopher's and will also make him his best French toast.
Lucas was expert in cooking whereas Christopher was still learning so it was common that Lucas cooked for him.
Christopher woke up by the noise of falling utensils. He groaned as he knew who was outside. He stood up slipping the shirt over his naked frame and walked outside half asleep.
"I still can't understand how the fuck you manage to wake up so early after sleeping so late." Christopher said annoyed taking seat beside the kitchen counter.
"You just need to have a dedication." Lucas said portraying himself as a philosopher.
"Dedication my ass." Jimi groaned in annoyance. He has always been a deep sleeper. He finds it really hard to wake up early morning.
Before they could start bickering, both of their attention was diverted toward the deep gigging sound. It was coming from the entrance. Both him and Lucas looked there watching Miles moving backwards and forwards and laughed and giggled all by himself.
He looked so small so cute.
"Millie" Christopher called him, smiling himself.
"Christopher that's so cool see." The giggling male showed Christopher what he was doing by moving three steps back and then three steps forward making the entrance light lit up on its own. He thought of it really cool. For Christopher it was just a biosensor that did that.
"Like he didn't see it before." Lucas rolled his eyes. He can never like this boy. Who can say he is 20-year-old boy and also of 21st Century. He behaves like he was living in a cave till now.
"Shut your mouth." Christopher glared him by standing up and walking toward his innocent friend.
"You saw this first time?" Christopher circled his arm around Miles's neck.
"Yes. How long has it been there?" Miles asked still repeating the action.
"It's been there since forever; your blind ass saw that just now." Lucas butted in making the older male look at him fearfully.
He didn't quite forget what happened yesterday. Just that he behaved normal doesn't mean he was oaky. How he spent the night is only known to him. He couldn't sleep the whole night out of fear.
"Sorry." Miles's smile long gone. Christopher saw the dread on his face and to be honest he just wanted to beat the shit out of his friend.
"You just have to open your mouth." He gave him a kick at his bottom making Lucas smirk with a wink and walk back to the kitchen.
"Don't mind him, he is just a useless piece of shit." Christopher hugged his friend. "You look so beautiful while smiling. I still remember how Jeremy used to die for this boxy smile. I wonder what he will do if he saw you now." Christopher teased him.
"Shut up. He himself was cuter than me." Miles whispered shyly.
"Well well well aren't we sensing a crush situation here." Christopher bumped his shoulder making Miles blush more.
"Toast will get cold Christopher, hurry up." They heard Lucas shouting from the kitchen.
"Coming." Christopher replied. He turned to Miles "go start eating I'll be back, just need to brush my teeth." Christopher ran into the room.
Miles didn't want to be alone with Lucas. Lucas wasn't a kind person, and he knows by now.
"Are you scared?" Miles jumped on the sudden voice. He turned to see Lucas standing just behind him and still smirking. "Are you?"
"N-No." Miles tried to sound brave but him and Lucas both knew he wasn't.
"Well..." Lucas bend a little forward holding older boy's chin between his two fingers and sneaked near his ear "You should be." He whispered.
Miles can practically feel his legs trembling. He tried to step away from Lucas, but the latter kept on leaning toward him.
"Come on what are you guys doing here standing. Come on the breakfast is getting cold." Christopher ran toward the kitchen. Miles breathed in relief as he also ran to the kitchen.
Lucas feels proud seeing the fear and petrified self of Miles. That's the power he always loved. He folded his sleeves showing the tattoos more and walked to the kitchen. He sat opposite to Miles directly facing him.
"When is your first class?" Lucas asked but this time a bit softly.
"Yeah. Lucas will take you with him." Christopher told him and the chopsticks fell out of Miles's hand immediately.
"I-I can g-go by myself it's o-okay." Miles didn't want to go with Lucas.
"Millie it's good that you stay with Lucas. He is the head of Gym, kids at school won't bother you if he will be with you." Christopher said holding Miles's hand.
I'll drop you at the main gate and don't you fucking dare cling to me in the school. I don't want a weirdo at my tail. Stand at the gate when i tell you and I'll pick you from there. You don't know me in the school. Understood.
Miles still remember what Lucas said to him yesterday.
"Christopher my schedule might be different from Lucas. I'll manage. It's okay." Miles spoke up. He can't straight forward tell Christopher. He just doesn’t want both friends fight just because he feels uncomfortable.
"It's okay Miles, you don't have to do all these formalities. I can manage. Tell me when your first class is today?" Lucas asked. Miles couldn't imagine he is the same boy he saw not just saw 2 minutes ago.
"A-at 8:30" the older told.
"Great. Mine too. Get ready then." Lucas said standing up. They were done doing breakfast. He washed his plate and went back to get ready.
The ride to the school was silent. Just like yesterday he was on the back. He got one big problem is that he doesn't have his bag. The car just as yesterday stood a bit far from school gate.
"Get out." Lucas said making Miles obliged to him. "Take your bag from the trunk. And today when i call only then come out. Understood?" Lucas said didn't even spare him a glance.
"O-okay. Tha-Thank you." Miles replied taking his bag and walking to the gate. Lucas raced the car speed passing Miles.
Miles could only pray that everything will go well today.
"Everyone, eyes on the target and just keep passing the ball." Moura yelled. The while basketball court is filled with boys practicing."Luca, move fast." Moura yelled. Lucas was relatively slow as compared to other days. The truth is he couldn't sleep properly last night. "Why are we even practicing?" He groaned in annoyance. He looked around to everyone and saw all of them were genuinely practicing. "Because we fucking got a match with other schools. Now get your ass concentrate on the field." Moura yelled followed by the whistle making everyone alert. "Mr. Black." A young boy called as soon as he entered the basketball ground. The called male turned watching the very familiar boy standing at the entrance of the room. "Yes." "I apologize for disturbing you in between the practice but Mr. Lee is calling for Lucas." The boy said very politely. "Why do you have to apologize for that." Moura smiled at the boy turning back to the players playing. "Lucas." He yelled. The boys didn
The day went by well and it went rather quickly. After that gym registration, Miles had 3 classes whereas Lucas was free. He had to attend the sports head meeting. It was 5:30 right now and just like yesterday Miles was in the library, looking at his phone for a call or message from the red-head boy. This time was different because he actually has his number this time. Soon his screen lit up reaching a screaming ringtone that echoed in the library's "academic book" section. Miles was quick to take his phone out of his pocket. "Hel...." "Be at gate in 2 minutes. 1 second late and I'll leave you there." Before Miles could even reply Lucas cut the call. Miles didn't waste even a second and took his bag, left the book on the table, and ran downstairs. He was lucky that he was there on time and just when he reached there Lucas's car arrived. Miles was huffing as because he came running and the slightly sharp sparks of pain dancing out of his chest were getting bigger and bigger. "Ge
The next morning Miles woke up to the sweet smell of toast and egg being cooked. Small knock on his door made him open his eyes slightly. "Up up now baby bear." Christopher said hugging his friend. Miles couldn't help but smile at Christopher's warm gesture. "Why are you up so early? Didn't you have a holiday today?" Miles asked. "I did. I wanted to cook you a breakfast, so I woke up early. Hurry up. Come on." Christopher replied pulling Miles up from the bed. "But you didn't have to. You should've have slept for late...""Shhh. Go and brush. I'll set the table." Christopher cut his sentence. "Is L-Luc.....""Nope. Today's breakfast is for us only. He isn't invited. Go now." Christopher replied him making Miles breathe in relief. "Okay." Miles felt himself feeling happy. First, he didn't forget the last night's nightmare and second today is going to be a nightmare. Christopher was out in the living room setting the table. The truth is he couldn't sleep properly last night, thin
Miles made way to his room, changing into his sports uniform that was provided to them by the school and came out only to find Lucas sitting on the couch, glass of milk in his hand and Christopher lying down lazily on the other couch. "Thank God." Lucas huffed, standing up. "Let's go." Christopher opens his eyes, stood up as he bid them goodbye and hugged Miles. "Remember what I told you okay. Don't worry about anything." Miles nodded and hugged Christopher back before running toward the elevator where Lucas was waiting for him. Lucas saw how both best friends held each other in their arms. Not to get jealous, as he knew Christopher has always been there for him right after when he thought his life was finished and he was left all alone. But this relationship between both friends feels so precious. The way Christopher got so worried just by seeing Mile’s crying. Lucas always wanted this. He has an egoistic personality and rude behaviour, but he just can't help it. There had been
Miles was thankful that he didn't collapse or else he doesn’t know what Lucas would've done. Lucas was standing like a hawk on these 5 students who were doing their best to not mess up during exercise. "5 push ups" he announced. One of student made an annoyed huffing sound hearing the announcement."Atlas." Lucas called making the student stand straight in front of him. "Y-yes sir." "You got a problem?" "N-No sir." The boy shook his head. "I heard you complain about exercise!" "N-No sir. I'm perfectly fine with it." Atlas lied. "Alright then, 10 push ups for you and the rest of you will do 5. Hurry up." He announced marking each of students’ progress. Miles didn't say another word and positioned himself for the said exercise. Lucas did show him the demo, so they know how to do it, but it was hard. Everyone did 3 push-ups easily but then they were finding it hard to do it."That's good at least 3 is a good progress. I'm glad you guys know how to push your limits. Finish the r
"Why don't you forget that and forgive him." Willie came forward."Lucas don't forget anything and he just can't get away with it." Lucas smirked and walked toward the parking where his car was parked. "You are being unkind to him." "Willie shut up." Lucas rolled his eyes as they all got into the car. He stopped the car in front of the gate so that Miles can come. "Moura, tell your boyfriend to keep his mouth shut. If he said one more word to Miles, I won't hesitate to rip him apart." Lucas saw Moura from the rare view and spoke. "He won't say anything. Willie shut up now." Moura said monotonously and closed his eyes to get some sleep. Lucas was on his phone, typing something and Moura was fast asleep when Willie saw Miles running toward the car with brightest smile on his face. He genuinely feels sorry for a pure soul like him to get in trouble with Lucas.Lucas almost threw the phone into his lap as soon as he heard the car door open. "Alright guys here we go." Lucas announced
Lucas saw how Miles was curled up in himself on the back seat. His occasional hiccups were the proof that he was crying. And Lucas couldn't be more satisfied. But the drama was left. He was busy looking at the back seat from the rare view when his mobile ringed. He looked at the caller id to see Christopher calling him. "Hello Chris." Lucas called his name purposefully. He knew Miles wasn't sleeping. And just as he expected Miles looked at him with red teary eyes. "Why did you asked me to call you? Everything okay? Is Miles, okay?" "Nothing's fine Chris. I can't tell you anything on the phone. I'm heading back home. I've sent you a text on WhatsApp check it out and come home early today." Lucas replied as he saw how Miles shook his head on his every word. He even tried to reach for his phone. "Luca, you are scaring me. What happened?""I said check the message you'd know." Lucas replied. "I'll talk to you when you'll come home. Bye." "Lucas, I did nothing. I promise your friend
Cal was busy making lunch when he heard the front door closing. He flinched because he wasn't really expecting anyone. Not in the day. He didn't have to leave the kitchen, as soon he saw a hat and the shirt thrown to the wooden chair in living room. Their kitchen had a wide window opening to the living room. He looked out to see James slumped on the chair, hand pinching the bridge of nose and face frowned. His eyes were also closed indicating he clearly stressed. But the thing that made Cal worry is that James was okay a few hours ago when he left for the fields. He was as usual down as he was missing Miles, but it wasn't this bad. Something definitely happened in these two hours. James was a pacifist; he would never jump into a fight. He believes to talk things out instead of throwing hands at each other. Both brothers are same so, one thing was clear he didn't get in a fight but then maybe he might have gotten in to a conflict."Are you okay? You came back early today. I was abou
2 and half year ago. "Mr Volkov, how are you feeling today?" Said the lady dressed in mustard turtleneck. Her voice soft and welcoming. She soflty gazed her hand over Lucas's hair and smiled when Lucas's face broke into warm smile. "I'm Good." He replied. He saw his therapist giving him another warm smile in return. He likes it, the way she smiles, how she always smiles and never once gets irritated by him or shows an expression. "Three words again, that's a progress." She stretched her hand up for a high-five. Lucas took some time but then clapped it. "You?" Lucas asked. He saw the lady stopped turning pages and looked at him. He felt like he stepped a line or something. He lowered his eyes back to his lap. "Im good, great actually, happy." She smiled. "And you know why?" She asked. Lucas looked up, kept watching her and then darted his eyes off. "No." "Because of you, you make me happy." She replied and Lucas's face broke into another smile, this time even the teeth w
"Lucas Volkov, you have a visitor." The sentence alone was enough to fill his body with dread. He never felt all these feelings but now he understands how must it felt to Miles every time he ganged up to assassinate him. Since yesterday— after the court session— he couldn't get the desperate cries and the last glimpse of Miles's face put of his imagination. "Whu-Who is it?" He dared to asked. He wanted to know, he prayed it should be Christopher or James or anyone but not the lady. "You'll see. Now get your ass out here before i drag you out with a chain around your neck." The officer was not in a good mood, he never been. Lucas tried to test his luck, he was sure if the woman didn't come in last two days that means she won't be here today as well, he gave a last look to both his friends who were sitting in there corners not saying a word. "Hurty up!" And he was yanked by his arm resulting in hitting his elbow to the bar. "Put your hands out." The officer didn't even let h
It's very common to feel guilty or ashamed once you see the consequences of your doings, it's common to see people loosing their shit when they come to know ghat what they just did could coast him their life, but Josh isn't one of them. Here, among all these days knowing very well that it was him actually who was responsible for a death of an innocent being, he wasn't ashamed or guilty at all. "You don't feel it?" He turned to see Mortin standing behind him. He just came back meeting his brother and Josh knows what's coming. "Feel what?" He still had the nerve to ask. "The guilt, dread that you killed a human!" Mortin pushed him making his back hit the wall. "Keep you hands in control!" He took a dominant step forward and towered over Mortin. "Why? Huh? Why should i? You never kept your hand to your pocket, so why should i? I didn't do anything still here i am...... i lost everything because of you!!" He lounged forward and punched Josh on his face. Since the last hearin
Moura never left Lucas's side. He sat beside the bed where Lucas was sleeping. His hand in his hair, slowly moving in smooth circles, trying to calm down Lucas. "What's happening to you?" He slowly whispered. He can see Willie don't care what was happening here. He has cut himself off from this cell, from them. "I'm afraid to lose you, Luca." He saw Lucas felt uncomfortable for a bit so he stretched his hand back a little. His gaze however never left the males face. "Did you ever thought that what you do to other can come back to you as well? Did you guys ever believe in Karma?" Moura's looked back at Willie whose questioning gaze pierced his soul. "Like you guys ever thought that you can be vulnerable too, you can be afraid too?" He questioned again. "Willie, if you can't do—-" "How does it feel to be outnumbered and always afraid?" He cut Moura off. "I'm not outnumbered!" "You literally are sitting in jail and you are charged of murder. Still?" "I did not kill—-" "Y
Lucas was taken back to his cell. The officer practically threw him in the room making him bump to the ground and hiss slightly. "I never wanted to hate you, Lucas. But now i do..... more than you think. Your reason was all emotional but it was senseless and absurd." "I'm sorry." Lucas circled an arm around his own body. His shaking body started to feel numb. He had so much to talk to Christopher, but one glance at his pale sick face made everything worse. Christopher hate him......he said he never wanted to.....but he hate him now. Lucas expected a mock from Willie, a hand on his shoulder from Moura but nothing came. He dared to lift his head and look around, it isn't his cell, it's not the same cell where he was taken last time. This room is small, and doesn't even have a window, or a bed......there's nothing. It's an isolation cell. This made Lucas panic, he felt his heart beating so fast and his breathing was heavy as well. Too many memories got triggered. "Keep it down,
James was sitting in the living room. His hair longer than usual, his eyebrows knotted, his hands clutching a glass of water that Cal handed him a few minutes ago. "The medicine is till there, and you are still staring at the void." Cal's voice pulled him out of his thoughts. "How's he now?" James asked Cal. "Still the same. Not even close to get back his consciousness. Doctor said, they'd have to keep him under observation for one more day." Cal replied settling beside James and bending forward to give him the medicines. "I don't get it. Why is all this—- i never wanted to come here, they went and—— I don't know what to even think." James huffed not actually knowing what should he do. "The first trial is in two days. Before that, Christopher was supposed to visit the jail, Lucas-ssi appealed to meet him before the court trial." Cal told him. "All of them are together. Millie will never get the Justice at their hands." James whispered slowly. "It's not what it look like.
Lucas's whole body felt frozen to the single spot. The mare voice of Zoye as soon as she entered the hall was enough to grip his toe and tie them to the ground. "I'm here to announce that Josh and his gang is arrested for bullying and killing Miles. Also, i have an arrest warrant Lucas Volkov, Min Moura, and Jung Wiallsome. Please, arrest them." These next words of Zoye pulled him out of his shock and initiated a state of panic in him. Everybody knows, everyone know......Christopher, James, every student.....all of them know now. He turned back to see Moura was as panicked as he was and he was as still as he was. His reputation was also at risk, the coach, the faculty of the school bullying students.......too bad. Then there's Willie, neither panicked nor reacting. His hands already in front of him, stretched for a police office to cuff him. Run, hide, run away or else.... Lucas's mind was a mess. He should run, getting caught by the police officer will only add more problems.
The car ride to the school was silent. No one said anything. Christopher was driving with James on the passenger seat, and Cal, Lucas, and Alicia in the back. Not a single words was exchanged between them. Once they reached school, Lucas lead them to the principal office. "Welcome, Mr. Theo." The principal shook hand with James and welcomed them all after. They sat down and the principal asked for juice. The ceremony started soon after. The great hall of the school was filled with people. Miles's picture was placed in the middle of the stage and it was surrounded by the flowers and bouquets. Many wishes were also placed by the students and his class fellows. Miles's name was written by the candles. He was honoured by praises and many prayers were asked in his name. The principal also acknowledged that Miles was the bright student and shared that he wished to see Miles grow in a great person he was. The hall was filled with claps and many of Miles's friend cried while talking a
James and Cal were sitting in the living room of Lucas's house. The owner of the house was busy cooking. The aroma of delicious food was revolving inside the house. "How are you feeling now?" Cal softly placed a hand over Lucas's hand and asked. "Burden." James whispered. "We should go back..... this city isn't for us." "Jammy—-" "Millie, must have felt like this also. Staying at somebody else's house, being all alone in this city....... He must have felt equally suffocated." James looked at Cal. His red eyes proving the amount of hurt he's feeling. "Millie loved Christopher, he was so close to him. And isn't just anybody....... You've seen him, he grew up in front of you. Christopher was Miles's soul mate, his best friend. Please stop burdening yourself from these thoughts." Cal didn't know what to do. Ever since Miles died, James has develop and unexplainable hatered towards Christopher. He doesn't even wants to see his face. Last night when Christopher dropped them here, a
