Chapter 98

Solana's POV

When I finally calmed down, we decided to leave.

Alton drove me towards my father's house, and during the entire drive, my thoughts is consumed by my mother's death.

My mom had done terrible things to me. She never treated me like her daughter, but I couldn't erase the fact that she was still my mother, and her death still brought me pain.

After a while, Alton's car came to a stop. I looked outside and realized that we had already arrived at my father's house.

I turned to face Alton.

"Thank you for the ride," I said and stepped out of his car. But before he left, I peeked through his window and smiled at him.

"Happy birthday, Alton," I greeted him once again.

"Thank you," he genuinely replied and smiled back at me.

I waved my hand at him before heading inside the house. As I stepped inside, the dim lights indicated that everyone was asleep, so I quietly made my way to my room.
