Sometimes a story takes a turn that you weren't expecting as an author. I had my story loosely planned, and I knew there would be a problem that would happen and need resolving. I just didn't expect it to happen the way it did. It was like Adriana and Daemon were heading to their room, and suddenly Duan and Neri were there. What can I say? I was definitely surprised. However, I am happy it happened that way. I find that it makes a lot of sense and adds to the initially planned problem. Alise and Alastair's relationship will develop over the course of the book, but as of yet, I don't expect there to be a detailed story for them.

Renée is a waitress at my favourite café (and yes, I am using the French spelling because it is originally a French word, and that should be acknowledged, even if it was taken from the Turkish word 'kahve' which means coffee). The things you find out when looking for an e with an accute accent over it. Back to Renée. She is awesome and comes across as a strong person, so I felt she needed to be a warrior. It just so happened that I had a position available. She accepted, and here she is. While she is not a main character, she is definitely sticking around for a while.
