The hallways were deserted with just a handful of people lingering around, but none of them paid her any heed as she walked across the ceramic floor.
That was exactly what she wanted when she decided to come late at night; no one would bother her with unnecessary questions nor try to stop her either. Inhaling deeply, Serafina halted at the door of the room, gently sliding it open and stepping into the dark interior.
The lights had been turned
Serafina paced the length of the hallway outside her brother's bedroom, gnawing at her lips as her legs were beginning to ache with her excessive walk. She had no idea how long she had been pacing the floor, but she knew it had been a good hour, maybe even more.Maybe he's asleep. She thought hopefully, cautiously standing with her eat pressed to the door, straining to hear any movement.Maybe he has a whore inside
Serafina refused to talk to her family. Her parent would come to check in on her and she'd ignore them, she refused to look at Marco, and always walked away when Arsenio tried to approach. Salvatore was on bed rest, and apparently, she had hit his head harder than anticipated because he was often throwing up and looked horrifyingly dazed – granted, she had just heard all that and not actually seen him.It took her a couple of days to come to terms with everything she was told, a part of her didn't want to believe it, but the unbiased part of her knew it was true.
Serafina hadn't been to this estate since her wedding day, and even looking at it now, a wave of nostalgia hit her.It was a beautiful mansion with cream walls and Greek columns, windows on almost every side, and was generally surrounded by well-kept lush green grass and flowers, but given the snowfall, it was surrounded by fields of white. Unlike Salvatore's estate, it was much smaller and had only two floors with a single basement. Being rectangular in shape, it wasn't divided into wings, but there were certain rooms which had been kept closed off to the public when the Costa's resided here.
Serafina's eyes fluttered open not even two hours after she had fallen asleep, the sight of her twin brother eating a bucket of ice cream greeting her as he was watching a movie on low volume. Rubbing her eyes she looked down at her phone screen, blinking away the bleariness before flopping onto the pillow."What are you doing awake at 3 a.m. in the morning?" She sat up and took the spoon from his hands and taking a bite out of the chocolate chip ice cream.
Men went about grabbing their preferred gun of choice, loading it with bullets, and storing additional magazines into the folds of their vests. Each one having replaced their immaculate suits for all black camouflage pants, matching t-shirts, and combat boots. Bulletproof vests covering their chests with additional weapons hidden in their pockets. Salvatore was one of the men in the midst of all the preparations, dressed like every single of them and loading the mag of his semi-automatic pistol."Are you sure you should go?" Arsenio asked hesitantly from the side, glancing uncertainly at his parents who watched with disapproving lo
The graveyard was so neat. Row upon row of white marble tombstones all rising from the thick blanket of snow. Each one was perfect, polished and exactly the same as all of the others, except the name it bore. They were lined up perfectly with those in front and behind, a city block for the dead.Life is but a roaming shadow, a pitiable thespian. Who struts and frets his few moments upon the stage, and then is heard no more. It is a tale imparted by a foolish wit, full of noise and fury... yet meaningless nonetheless.
Alessio stood in a black button-up with denim jeans, his foot up on the bed as he struggled to tie the laces on his high ankle sneakers. With a puff of air, he stood from the bed, a hand against his wound as it still ached in protest of the movement. Going about the room, he slowly put everything in the brown leather overnight bag that lay on the mattress, having insisted that he could do it, and sent his mother and brother away before they could try and pack for him.Despite his wound not having completely healed yet and his grey complexion, he was finally getting discharged today and the doctors had done some tests before handing
"He's not real," Arsenio stated with certainty while he picked out clothes from the closet, his sister sitting cross-legged on the bed. "I don't believe it,""Either he is real, or I've been dating a ghost for the past 2 years," Serafina stated nonchalantly while flipping through the book in her hand."He's..." Her eldest brother trailed, picking out a button-up with slacks. "Too perfect,"
The sound of the shower running infiltrated the washroom. The steam rising and dispersing throughout the space with the sound of music accompanying the pitter-patter of the water droplets. Serafina allowed the pressured water to wash over her, her tresses clinging to her as the glass of the shower cabin became even more opaque than it already was. With the mixture of water and music, she never heard the door open, much less did she notice the presence of the person enter as she was too busy washing her hair, running her fingers through her tresses. The sound of the shower cabin door opening had her jump in surprise, turning around
