Chapter 4 "No! I won't marry!"

Suddenly Sarah cleared her throat twice, interrupting Sophie's thoughts. "Sophie, you studied in the States for four years, and you don't know how difficult the family situation is. Now that you have finally graduated, you should also contribute to us."

"Sophie just came back, let her rest first, and we'll talk later." Jane looked a little reluctant, and pushed Sophie into the room to rest.

Sarah stared at Jane with dissatisfaction, but after thinking about it, she decided to let Lady Jones speak in person in the evening, and Sophie would have no choice but to accept.

Sophie entered her tiny room. The furnishings in the room were simple, but clean and tidy. Jane had cleaned it for her long ago. Jane handed Sophie a cup of warm water and opened a bath for her.

Sophie looked at Jane's being busy the whole time and said with some distress, "Aunt Jane, I will do these things, and you don't have to work so hard in the Jones family."

Jane smiled, "This is what I should do. My life was saved by Old Lady Jones..."

Jane suddenly realized something and stopped talking. Sure enough, Sophie's face was a little pale, and there was guilt in her eyes.

"Sophie..I didn't... Don't think about the past."

Sophie smiled reluctantly, "I'm fine, I'll take a rest, I'm a little tired."

Jane knew that Sophie was worried, so she didn't persuade her too much, but just gently closed the door for her.

Sophie looked at the closed door, lying flat on the bed, looking at the ceiling blankly, with a sad expression.

She tried not to think, her body was a little numb, she went into the bathroom for an hour, dried her hair, sat on the bed a little dejectedly, holding her phone in a daze.

She struggled for a long time, and finally couldn't help but dial a familiar number. Sophie didn't know what to say to Wilson. As his mother said, she was not qualified to be his girlfriend, but Sophie was in a depressed mood and wanted to hear his voice.

But no one answered the phone...

Sophie slept soundly until Jane called her to have dinner at 7 o'clock in the evening.

Sophie looked at the old lady in the middle of the table. She was always a little afraid of the old lady in her heart, and respectfully called, "Grandma."

Lady Jones didn't even look at her, but just said lightly, "Let's eat."

Sarah suddenly smiled kindly and said in an ambiguous way, "Sophie, you are 22 years old this year. Although it is important to work and make money, finding a suitable man to marry is the real thing."

Sophie frowned and looked at her aunt, feeling a little uneasy in her heart.

Sarah continued with a smile, "Sophie, do you still remember Uncle Tom, a friend of your father's who opened a private hospital called Tom Evans."

"...What's wrong with him?" Sophie looked a little alert,

"Uncle Tom always likes you very much. Some time ago, he often came to our house to ask when you would be back. He also gave us many gift. He was very polite and gave us one million in cash and a high-end apartment at once..."

"You, you want me to marry him?" Sophie looked at the aunt opposite in disbelief.

Seeing her repulsive expression, Sarah stopped smiling and said sternly, "Sophie, it's your blessing that Tom likes you."

Sophie put down her chopsticks in anger, "He's almost 50 years old!"

"50 years old, so what? How can you despise him? He runs a hospital and you won't have to worry about food and clothing if you marry him," Sarah said with disdain, and then added, "You have to marry him even if you don't want to. We have already received his gift and property..."

"What?" Sophie stood up from the chair abruptly, "Return the money!"

"The money has been spent, what can I return? Besides, Sophie, we are a family, this marriage is definitely a good thing for you, why don't you know how to be grateful."

Grateful? You arranged a marriage for me without permission, and you still want me to be grateful!

"What are you arguing about! Sit down!" Old Mrs. Jones looked at Sophie dissatisfiedly.

Old Madam Jones hated Sophie very much, and everyone in the Jones family knew this, because her beloved youngest son had a falling out with her because of Sophie's mother and moved out of the Jones family.

In the end, Sophie's mother died of dystocia, and Old Madam Jones's youngest son died in a fire, leaving behind an orphan, Sophie, who became the object of the old madam's resentment, and...

"You are born with bad luck, and Tom's fate is not easy to die. You can live with him for a lifetime, otherwise all your surroundings will always be killed becausse of you... Just like your parents, they were killed by you!" Old Madam Jones said with a little excitement.

Old Madam Jones stared at Sophie with resentment. If it wasn't for saving Sophie in the fire that year, her youngest son wouldn't have died!

Every time she heard her grandmother say that she was born with bad luck and would kill her relatives, Sophie didn't dare to refute it. Her mother died because she gave birth to her, and her father died because he rushed into the fire to save her...

Jane looked at Sophie's sad expression and wanted to speak, but Jane also burned her left arm in the fire. At that time, Mrs. Jones was willing to pay for the timely surgery, so she saved her life. She didn't dare to refute what the old lady said.

"Take her to the room and lock her up," Mrs. Jones said to her eldest son, turning to look at Sophie, "Tom Evans will marry you at the end of the month. We chose this marriage for your own good, so that you won't become a widow in the future."

"No! I won't marry!"
