~RHODA~
"Then how's this possible! I wouldn't have believed it if I hadn't done the test myself." I told her.
"Trust me, Rhoda, I never had sex! I didn't do anything." She wailed.
"I trust you completely Leo, in fact, more than myself but you know one can never get pregnant without having sex. I mean is not like Jesus is visiting the world again through you!" I reason with her.
"Shut up already! You're only making this worse." She chided. "I'm sure there's a mix-up somewhere other than that, how can I be pregnant?."
"Alright but I think we should do a virginity test to prove that you still are."
"Does that mean you don't believe what I am saying?" She sounds disappointed.
"Not that. I trust you. This is going to prove your innocence and then we can look at what to do next."
"That is ridiculous, Rhoda! Do you know how that thing is done?" She asked, her cheeks gaining color.
I've only heard that virginity tests are done but I don't really have an idea how it is conducted.
"How's it done?"
She sighed and bit into her lower lip. "The doctor has to insert his finger in my vagina to check its laxity and am not ready for that. I believe in myself. Believe whatever you want but I know that I am not pregnant or did anything that would have led to it." She concluded with finality and walked out.
She walked out and I just followed her.
"Fine! When was the last time you had your period or when is it due.?" I ran to catch up with her.
She stopped, then started biting her lower lips. She does this mostly when she's in thought. "It will be due tomorrow. I'm expecting it tomorrow."
Wow.
"Okay, let's wait and see then." I smiled at her but she didn't return it.
"Yeah."
We got back to the gathering and just as the chancellor had said the program continued.
Leona is called again for the medal đ but this time around, the energy was vague and she wasn't as happy. The crowd cheered for her regardless and she tried to smile but it didn't reach her eyes.
"This year is a wonderful one because both our Valedictorian and Salutatorian are girls. Today, a fifty years record where boys were the only ones has broken! Ladies and gentlemen, the Salutatorian also goes to Miss Rhoda Grant!"
Goodness gracious Lord! This is a dream come true!
"It has been proven yet again that indeed birds of the same feathers do flock together. They were best friends who couldn't stop making this institution proud.."
My parents rushed to hug me from nowhere before I got to the stage for my medal which was silver.
After the speeches and others, the day came to an end with all the graduates throwing their caps in the air.
It was such a sight!
"Congratulations, Rhoda!" LeonasL eyes shine with love and happiness.
"Congratulations to you too." I hugged her, looking around for her brother.
"Where's Raymond?" I asked.
She shrugged. "He should be at home with his friends. I don't know what he's up to at the moment but I know if he was chanced, he wouldn't miss this day."
I nodded.
"Shall we go home?" She asked.
"Not now. We're going to have a treat first then get home when everyone is fast snoring. We're going to catch some fun, baby." I squeal.
"Actually, I can't wait to tell Dad about the good news so I want to go home."
I frowned. "Just this once, Leona. Do yourself this favor." I ended with a pout and puppy eyes. I know she can't resist when I do that.
She contemplated, pursing her lips then biting it softly. When she was about to open her mouth, I screamed "Yes!"
She laughed and I looped my arms around her neck towards my car. It's a yes.
About to walk into my car, a car I recognize to be my mom's comes to a screeching halt in front of mine.
It stopped and my mom got out. I thought she left with dad.
"Hey, Mom! Thought you left. Leona and I thought we should spend some time together..."
"Not under my watch!" She objected, shocking me.
"What are you talking about, mom?"
"To tell you the truth, I only encouraged your friendship because I knew she was helping you and a girl of good character. But now that you've achieved your goal while she lost her value, why stick around? You don't need her again sweetheart."
Oh, God. My mouth dropped wide open. How could my mom say this and in her presence? My hand slides from Leona's shoulder unconsciously.
"Leona is still the same Leona for me mom. Don't be ridiculed that I will backslide with you." I sneer. "And don't talk about her. You know nothing."
"I already know her dear. Is she not the one who fainted and was later discovered to be pregnant?" She looks at Leona contemptuously.
I heard Leona gasp.
"And who told you that?"
"How I got to know you is not important. What is important is that I don't want you around her anymore. She's a bad influence." She snatched my hand.
"No!" I tried to take my hand back. I wonder where she got that medieval thought from.
"Yes. She's immoral and shameless."
"How can you say such things, mom. She's my friend." I looked at Leona and her face was down.
"Not anymore!"
"Don't fucking dictate for me. I am not a child anymore." I screamed.
"That's not for you to decide. Get the hell into your car now or I'll drag you into mine."
"No I won't and you will do no such thing." I refused with eyes on Leona. She was almost crying before she turned her back to us and began walking away.
No.
"Leona you can't do this."
She stopped.
"You can't just run away. This woman is crazy!" I told while trying to free my hand but it seems mom got stronger overnight.
I had only one way out. I lowered my lips and bit into my mom's flesh. She groaned, letting me go.
I started running towards Leona when mom pulled me back yet again and ordered one of our bodyguards to carry me.
God!
"What are you doing mom? Let him get me down." I hit the back of the man.
I looked back again and I saw Leona with the proprietor.
I won't give up mom. What you don't know is that Leona is not the only member of her family who I'm interested in.
~LEONA~
I tried to stifle my sobs as I ran when Rhoda was driven away. Even without her consent, she left.
As I ran for a place to let my tears out, I ran into someone. I looked up and gasped. It's the chancellor.
He didn't say anything but looked at me sadly before handing me an envelope. Before I could ask him about it, he had already left.
I reexamined the envelope which had been addressed to me and wondered what could be in there.
I decided to go after him but I halted my steps when I remembered Rhoda's mom's words.
"I already know her dear. Is she not the one who fainted and was later discovered to be pregnant?"
And with the look that those around were giving me, I didn't think I could go into the campus.
I took a taxi back home and decided to open the envelope later.
After a few minutes, I arrived home and walked to our door. I was about to open it when my foot hit something in the doorway.
I looked down and there was my small luggage. What will my luggage be doing here?
I took it and opened the door about to get in when I was stopped by Elsie.
"Hi, Elsie." I greeted.
"Don't 'hi' me!" She rudely replied, folding her hands on her chest. There couldn't have been anyone. She threw my luggage out here but on who's instruction or her own will?
"What's wrong? Is everything okay?"
"How can everything be okay when you have gone and ruined this family?"
"What do you mean?"
"Stop pretending to know nothing about what is happening, Leona," Valerie said and came to stand beside Elsie with hands crossed on her chest.
"She acts as if she was innocent and the holiest of holiest but it was all a sham. Your game is over Leona and now mom and dad want you outta this house." Elsie said angrily.
Okay. It could be mom but not dad. After all that he did for me to get this far, dad won't throw me out.
"Hey, what's wrong with both of you? And who said I'm pregnant? Where's dad? I'd like to talk to him." I demanded.
"You can't talk to him." Vera, the last born, said quietly behind Elsie.
I walked closer to her and squatted before her. I tried to touch her but she moved back. "Why can't I talk to him, Vee?"
"He's been hospitalized and it's all because you, sis Leona." She reported to me.
"What? What happened to him?"
"You're the one who happened to him. The worst mistake he ever made so far."
"Listen to me, all of you. I don't know what you must've heard but I know that whatever you heard about me is a lie and am sure dad will understand and make you guys understand as well. Now tell me where he has been admitted."
"Kings Hospital." Vee was fast to answer before Elsie could stop her.
"How will we get back to school now that there's a baby in your tummy? Mommy said we can't go to school anymore sister Leo." Vee complained, tearing up.
"You'll all go to school, I promise." My voice came out as a whisper but I'm sure they heard me. I mean those words more than anything. I won't let them down, whatever it has to take me.
"Vee, help take my luggage back in will you?" She seems to be the only one I can ask this favor from.
"Will you promise to take me to school?"
I smiled. " I promise."
****
It didn't take long to get to the hospital and the lady at the front desk was nice enough to give my dad's ward number to me.
I have no idea if what my siblings are saying is true but I am certain to find answers when I see my father. This situation needs to be rectified and all doubts cleared.
Before I could enter to see my father, a strong arm pulled me back violently by the wrist and began to drag me out of the hospital.
The heck!
It's my stepmom.
"What are you doing mom?" I whimper.
"Can't you see? I'm kicking the source of our bad luck out of our lives."
"Let me go, mom. I want to see my father."
" Not after what you did and he doesn't want to see you anyway." She finally let go. I rubbed my wrist and already imagined it bruised. I didn't mind. I was more concerned about what she just said.
"What?"
"You ceased to be his daughter the day you shamelessly slept with a man. You led him down and so he wants you out of his life for good. You've been nothing but a big disgrace."
"You're making all this up because I know dad will never say such things. He trusts me completely" I refuse to believe her vile words.
"You ruined all his plans that he got confined permanently in a wheelchair by the shocking news. That man had so much faith in you but you overlooked it. Do you think he'll still want you in his life?"
"What! My dad is paralyzed? But why?"
"Stop asking foolish questions and get out of our lives and never return." She snapped angrily.
Tasha has always been unkind to me but today's own is like none I've seen before. I could see her hatred for me burning in her eyes.
"But what of the promise I made to him? To take care of this family? Look, mom, I've completed it and the government has made arrangements for me to be employed in one of the big companies and after that, we wouldn't have to worry about money. I will be paid and that money will be used to take care of my sibling's education..."
She chuckled wickedly.
"Who's going to take care of that bastard you're busy carrying until he's born and after? And which company is going to employ a pregnant woman?"
"I know..." I paused because I didn't know what to say. What if I am indeed pregnant? Who is going to take care of my family? They spent so much on me so that I can help reduce our financial problems. I can't add up to their sufferings.
" I've always known that this will happen and it has happened. You were never someone to be trusted and now it has cost us all dearly, especially the life of my dear children. I hate you, Leona and I always have. I only tolerated you because of your dad but not anymore. I want you out of this hospital, out of my husband's house and our lives else you'll have me to deal with and I promise to make this miserable life of yours a living hell!"
My mouth hung in the air loosely. Why would mum say all this to me?
"How do you expect me to do that? He's my dad and you're my family. I have nowhere else to be." I cried.
"Unless you finally want to send him to his early grave and become an orphan. He barely survived your betrayal. Watching his daughter struggle with pregnancy instead of work will finish him off in no time."
I'm rendered speechless as I watched her leave. Today was supposed to be a happy day for me but it turned out to be my worst day ever.
I turned to leave and once again bumped into someone.
I looked up and saw Raymond. My brother. I hugged him tightly as if my life depended on it. Seeing him is a big relief for me. I hope he believes me.
Raymond hugged me back and rubbed soothing circles at my back.
I pulled back after a while and raised my tearful gaze. "I didn't do anything, Ray. I swear."
"I know Leo, you don't have to say anything. I understand." He cupped my face and gently wiped my tears with his thumb.
"But why can't everyone understand me as well?"

You don't need to worry." He replied and paused for a minute." How's this possible, Leona? I know you wouldn't go and do something that will hurt our family so what happened?""I'm just as clueless, Ray. Although everything seems to be working against me now, I am certain about one thing.""Which is?" His brows raised curiously."I'm not pregnant and I'll prove it tomorrow.""Great! I'm glad there's a way. Come let's go home.""Which home?" Tasha has warned me not to go because my dad won't be happy."Our h
~LEONA~I dragged it till it reached my knees before I peeped."OMG!" There's actually blood.Oh Lord, I'm not pregnant. I just knew it."Ray..." I almost screamed but covered my mouth hastily.I got out of the washroom and shuffled through my bag and took a pad out.I went to the bathroom and had a quick bath and after that, I wore the pad happily.I once heard a group of girls discussing their fear anytime they have sex and their period delays. And when they think their period will never come but it finally appears, their happiness always knows no bounds. I didn't understand them then but now I do even though my circumstance is different from theirs. My happiness was inexplicable. I didn't plan on combing my hair but I suddenly loses it from its bondage.
~LEONA~ "Sister Leo, please help me with my assignment." Vera walked into my home office with her workbook. "I'm busy Vee. We'll do that later." I replied without taking my focus off my computer. "No no no!" She protested stubbornly. I sighed. "Okay fine. I will have a look." I took the book and looked through it. "This is simple, Vee." I looked up at the little blonde. "Here, I'll teach you." It was just simple algebra so I took some time and taught her. "Wow Leo, you teach so perfectly more than our teacher. Why didn't you become a teacher too?" She grinned at me happily. "But I'm already a teacher," I replied smilingly, looking at the youngest child among us. I love them all but I love her more. "Wow? Really? Where do you teach? And who do you teach?" She asked innocently. I chuckled. "I teach at home. Meaning, I'm your personal teach
LeonaThe security guards released me after the doctor had left and I just stood in the corridor as people stared at me strangely as if I was a new creature.Nevertheless, I waited. Waited to see the doctor again when he came out.His eyes met me when he came out of the ward he had disappeared to earlier. When he saw me, he motioned for me to follow him.Thank goodness.I followed him with hope as we entered the office."How can I help you ?" He sat down, staring at me."I'm pregnant," I stated. He raised a furrowed brow with a look that says. 'How's that my problem?'Nevertheless, he nodded for me to continue."I'm pregnant but I don't know who the father of my baby is," I added. He straightened up in the chair as if by interest but he looked bored."Were you raped? If you were raped, then you should be at the police station and not here." He said with a frown."I wasn't r
~LEONA~ "Alright, if you say so. Let's go home so that I can treat your wound." "Home? I do not have a home, Raymond." "Stop spewing nonsense and let's go." He ordered. "No Ray. Mom sent me packing." I said silently. "What? How dare she." "Let it be Raymond and don't worry about me. I'll be just fine." "Come, I'll take you somewhere else if you don't want to go back home. You'll be fine there." "Where's that?" "You'll live with me." Yeah, Raymond doesn't live with us. He always comes to visit but doesn't sleep over but I still don't know where he has been staying. I nodded. "If it won't bother you." "Are you serious?" "I just don't want to be some sort of burden." "Can you listen to yourself?" He stared at me quietly. "How can my only sister be a burden on me?" He sounds offended. "I'm sorry." Staying with him will
~DAVE~ "Drive faster, else I'll take charge and you know what that means," I commanded my driver. "I'm sorry sir but it has begun to rain and I can barely see what is in front." Oh, I never knew that it was raining. I didn't notice because of the car's tinted windows. I kept quiet and waited patiently. I checked my time over and over again, hoping that I wouldn't die while I waited. I have a deal to finalize at 4:00 pm and now it's 3:20 pm. I can't afford to lose that deal. After some time, the car stopped moving. "What's wrong?" My eyebrows shot angrily. "There's a lady lying in front of us sir." "Then pass her by." If she's lying there, then how's that my problem? Those stupid girls will never learn. They go out and drink unnecessarily. "It's a one-way road sir. I can't pass anywhere." "Then run her over. Who knows, she must be dea
LEONA Three months later... "Am sorry Miss Leona but you can't work at this bar again. You're pregnant and you really need your rest otherwise you might lose your baby." The director at the bar said. But I really want to get rid of it. I have no intentions of keeping this baby so I'll be glad if I don't give birth to it. I had gone to get an abortion the day I woke up on a hospital bed. That was three months ago. My only aim was to get rid of it but it wasn't possible. I was told that I might die if I attempt to abort it or probably won't be able to give birth again... Tragic. Dying was not an option because I still got a family who's expecting a lot from me even though I got thrown out. Giving birth wasn't an option either but it is better than risking my life. So I decided to give birth to it but give it up for adoption soon after. Besides, I didn't have
EPISODE đ 1ď¸âŁ1ď¸âŁđ LEONA When my eyes parted, I saw myself on a big bed and the room was completely dark. I couldn't see anything. My heart began to beat again when I remembered that fearful man. Was he the one that brought me here? I tried to find the end of the bed as I moved on it with my butt. It's that large. When I got to the end of it and was about to slide down, someone held my hand. "Help!" I screamed. The person didn't let go. I began to scream again. Suddenly, I got pinned down as a huge hand covered my lips. "Stop being too loud." He said in a whisper. The lights came on and my eyes met with the man above me. It was none other than the scary man. "Please let go of me." I whimpered He nodded. "I was about to." He got off me and out of the bed. He turned his naked broad back to me and I noticed the dark ink of artworks on his
TEN MONTHS LATER... LEONAWe just arrived home and I am awed to see the entire family in the decorated living room upstanding in anticipation of our arrival.I was carrying my new baby boy in my arms while Dave carried the girl. Yes, I delivered a boy and a girl twin and it's been a month but we're now returning from the by-force vacation Dave took me a month before my delivery. Everyone couldn't wait to see us and here we are now. Petals of different colors showered on us as we walked into the living room."Aww. They're so adorable and the girl is so cute." Kim squealed and took my baby boy from me.I sat down and everyone took turns to congratulate us, me especially. My mind went back to the day I told Dave that I was pregnant in his office. It's been ten months but I can't forget that astonishing look and his priceless smile when I told him the news. I keep replaying it and anytime I do, I find myself smiling. I've never seen him that happy before...it was so ama
FOUR YEARS LATER.....Yeah.It's been four fucking years and I can't say I'm still the Leona of four years back. I'm twenty-six and I've achieved a lot.I got my masters and I even went further to have a bachelor's in architecture. I work in one of the biggest global companies here in America and aside from that, I work with Dave as his assistant in his architectural firm. Together, we built the firm to a top-notch. Anosova architectural firm is now one of the best in the world. His hard work also took his family business to an even higher level. All this occurred in four years. In four years, I became Mrs. Anosova. When we left that coffee shop, we registered, then advanced our wedding night. It was crazy but felt so right. After a year, we got married properly in a church where all the family including loved ones were present.Should I say I expected to see Lando come but he didn't? Well, I did. He told me he's my shadow so I expected him to be there. Not for that alone but because
đĽFINALE đĽLeona Grande-AnosovaIt's been a month and right now Dave and I are sitting facing each other in a coffee shop somewhere in Seattle. From Greece, we relocated to one of Dave's mansions here in Seattle. The city is nice and full of coffee shops with really great coffees. Raymond has recovered and I won't say entirely but it's better than before and he's currently at home with Leonard. Leonard will be two years old next month and I can't wait to celebrate his second birthday. On my dad's insistence to work, Dave employed him in his company and my siblings have also returned to their preferred schools. I will remember to pay Dave back every dime he's spending on my family and me. It's a lot and I can't thank him enough. He also allowed me to get on birth control pills after I explained that I will be furthering my education. He made a joke out of it with a cocky remark that he doesn't need any more competition and that, child or no child, he wants me all to himself. He came even closer, leaned into me and and bit my neck.I looked up at him and caught him staring at my chest with so much hunger and lust but above all, love. With Leonard in my arms, it made my towel pull down, revealing a greater part of my breast leaving only the nipples hidden."Make him sleep, Leo." His voice was begging. His lips moved to kiss the top of my breast but Leonard who hasn't slept yet pushed his head back and placed his little hands on my chest, shielding it from Dave.Dave glared at him and swat Leonard's hands away. "She's my woman, young man.""Seriously Dave. How would he sleep?" I laughed. History isn't repeating, is it?First, it was me fighting Leonard and now Dave fighting him."Then tell him that. He seems to be competing with me."Leonard wasn't having it either. He placed his hand back on my chest and added his head then rolled his baby blue eyes at Dave angrily."What! Did you see that?" Dave grumbled before placing his hand
LEONAI looked at him in absolute shock, my eyes threatening to fall out. This is incredibly unbelievable. I blink multiple times to clear my vision in case I was hallucinating but no. He stood there with his bandages still on him. He didn't look strong but he's here.My hands reached to grip Dave tight and my eyes water. With a shaky voice, I asked. "How?" He limped towards me but I stumbled back. "Are you sure you're not a ghost? I saw your dead body, Raymond. I saw how pale you got. I saw everything. How can you not die?""Don't go away from me, sis." He winced and stopped limping towards me."I'm sorry for scaring all of you. I should've said this to you upfront. You know, after my car accident, I did self-medication before coming to Dave's mansion. I knew that man would try something so I couldn't stay at the hospital though I was going through a lot of pain. I took an overdose of a strong antidepressant and it helped after he shot me. "I'm taking them away, Dad," Dave answered and came to his father with a bunch of papers in his hand."What do you mean? This is their home too.""It was no longer home when you brought a devil to live in it." He retorted."Stop this, Dave. He's your brother." Charles whispered but it wasn't low enough."I refuse to accept him and you'd not change my mind.!"Who are they talking about? I didn't know Dave had a brother."Here, dad. This is all your business and ownership documents. I've resigned and signed everything out of my name. Where's mum? She should come and give them to her darling son." He looked around.I didn't understand whatever that was going on. Why's Dave giving everything back? Most importantly, was I supposed to witness this?I wished my feet would drag me out but I was too curious."I have my own company to focus on anyway.â"Is this how you behave?" Kim appeared. "You get angry at your parents when we scold you a little? We raised you better.""I'm glad you're here,
LEONAI paid the driver and stepped down. I stared at Raymond's apartment and literally wept.A lot of memories are being embedded here. I still can't believe that I lost my brother. My only brother. What kind of fate am I carrying? Why's it that I always invite trouble for people wherever I go?Dave went through a lot because of me. My family is not an exception but they survived it and my brother couldn't. Life is so unfair and especially to me.Oh, Lord. Please save my soul and remove all this pain and sorrows. Why are you doing this? This is not you." I complained."What am I doing? We talk, don't we?" His brows furrowed as he took off his cufflinks leisurely."You know what I'm talking about. It was out of rage I acted harshly and threw you out but you could've come back. Your father got hospitalized because of you and yet you never showed up. What kind of a daughter are you Leona? And now because of your reckless ways, you lost your brother. You caused his death, Leona. I hope you know that!" Tasha scolded me once I joined them in the guest room."Are you done, woman?" Dad asked and she rolled her eyes."Must I always remind you that if you have nothing sensible to say you should keep quiet?""You won't start again Cornelius!" She warned.I knew just then that if I don't come in, they will start fighting."Dad, Tasha is right. I fucked up..""See? She started cursing. I fear you, Leona. Especially after what we went through because of you. I know you're a murderer just like that fearful man and
