Siya’s Point of View
My rage fueled my muscles to the point where I was afraid they might tear apart. My fingers screamed at me to stop pulling at the metal around my waist. But I didn’t. Heard my shoulder pop but carried on.
Even as the smell of blood filled my nose.
Adelia was out there somewhere, getting hurt, no doubt. Stubborn fucking woman. She should have agreed to go with me. None of this would have happened if she had agreed.
Finally, the sound of metal ripping apart and breaking filled my ears. The body shackle fell to the floor with a clang.
Next came the shackles around my feet.
They broke easier than the one around my waist. Was made of a thinner metal. But my hands were breaking open and scaring over in record time.
Phaedra should have fucking waited. The bitch should have known I would need another day or two to get Adelia back home. Not rush in guns blazing.
With my feet free, this only left my hands. I wasn’t going to rip them from my wrists with only one hand. No. I had to break my thumbs.
Fucking great.
Inhaling sharply, I gripped my left thumb first. Braced my muscles. Ripped the finger to the side at a striking angle. Pain lanced up my arm but I bit it back. Slid the shackle free.
Fucking Phaedra and her need to be the best. Fucking Adelia being the daughter of a con man with no regard for his daughter’s life.
She was mine now. Mine. No one would touch her. Harm her. Fuck all of them.
When this was all over, she was going back with me. Locked up and sated, where I knew nothing like this could reach her again.
By the time I broke my right thumb, I was numb to the pain. My bones would readjust and mend themselves. But Adelia couldn’t regrow her fucking head if someone shot it.
Getting out of the house was easy, considering I had studied the blueprints excessively before coming here.
The hard part came when I spotted all the people in the front garden, gearing up and handing out orders to the civilians who showed up in throngs. Most of the guards were on high alert, even whilst doing other things.
I skirted the outside of the house, hiding behind every bush I could find. Fighting my way out of here would take too long. Which was time spent worrying that my stubborn fucking mate might murder herself.
When I reached the side of the house, I forced my shift. Forced it to go faster than it ever had before. Pain ripped through me but I was in my wolf form within moments. Dug my paws into the dirt and sprinted out of the packhouse grounds faster than anyone could detect me.
This deep into the town, everything was eerily silent. Except for the occasional family slipping out of homes and shops to take refuge at the pack house, I barely saw anyone.
All of this changed when I got two blocks away from where Adelia had said she had planted bombs. Fucking bombs.
The woman was mad, I could give her that.
The popping of guns sounded louder and louder the closer I got to the edge of the town. How Adelia had gotten here so fast was beyond my reasoning.
All I truly knew was that she was here and they didn't care if they shot her in the process.
Weaving in and out of shadows, I found the first wave of invaders. They were in a stand-off with a group of Adelia's people. Shot without caring. And missed their targets most of the time.
I had to hand it to them. Lover's Quarrel's people were well-trained. Swift on their feet.
But Adelia wasn't here.
There was another block to go before I ran into the detonation zone. That's where she would be.
Offering herself up as bait was fucking insanity. More than that, it showed me that she had a soft heart. Something that might get her killed one day.
She should have left-
I felt the sting before I saw who had shot me. Gritted my teeth against the pain. Growled deep in my throat as I strutted out from behind a bush I had taken refuge in.
It wasn't one of hers who had fired the shot. It was one of mine. A youngling I was tasked with training.
He realized his mistake a second too late. Hesitated when he saw the familiar form. And one of Adelia's saw the hesitation and shot.
Before the body hit the street, I was already off.
Phaedra had sent in fucking children. The first wave was always the one where she tested the bounds and she had sent in fucking children, knowing they would be slaughtered.
Our fucking children from a pack I loved fiercely.
Spotting Adelia came as naturally as breathing. Like my entire being drew me to her.
And she sensed me as well. Shifted around on her heels to lock eyes with me across the road. Her eyes flared wide. Knew me instantly in this form.
Her mouth curved upward in a menacing smile.
"There! Him!" She commanded, pointing her finger at me.
A barrage of bullets pierced the air and I dodged as fast as I could. Was already slowed down by the fact that one of my rookies had shot me. The bullet was making its way out of my body but slowly. Too slowly.
She fucking shot at me! What the fuck! I thought we got somewhere with our little talk. And her not letting them drag me to the cells.
But no. We were back at-
Adelia stepped out behind the car she had taken refuge in. Aimed her gun right at me as she strutted forward. Opened fire but only hit the building and pavement. Close enough that I felt slightly uncomfortable by it.
Standing my ground, I raised my head. Showed her my full height, which was staggering compared to her human form.
When she reached me, we locked eyes again but the bullets her squad fired went back to the enemy at the front.
"You escaped," She hissed, contempt written across her face.
I shifted back. Forced it like I had done earlier. Locked my jaw when I felt the wound in my side screaming at me to stop. But I didn't. Locked eyes with hers again.
"Do you have a fucking death wish marching into this? You can get caught in the crossfire, you stupid, arrogant little girl!" I screamed, feeling my face heat up with anger.
Her vivid blue eyes scanned my face with barely contained loathing.
"This is my pack. What the fuck did you think I was going to do? Bow down before your deranged sister? Let her have you back? Fuck you. Get back to the fucking pack house! Last I checked you were still my prisoner." She seethed back.
Balls. She had some massive fucking balls.
"As you can clearly see, I am no one's fucking prisoner. The only person going anywhere is you. Back to my fucking pack." I lunged for her, barely missing the barrel of her gun. Slammed my shoulder into her stomach, feeling the air rush out of her lungs.
Adelia yelped with the limited breath she had. Fired once. Twice. But missed each time.
The gun jammed, to her disadvantage and I leapt for the other side of this warzone. Knew that no one from either side would shoot-
But someone did. A loud bang sounded around me.
I knew the sound well. A sniper rifle. Someone perched on the building furthest away from the fighting but still had it all well within sight.
"Fuck!" Adelia screamed seconds before I felt my momentum break. Took a step backward from the force.
Adelia went limp above me.
And for the second time since we met, someone fucking shot her.
My world was promptly engulfed by flaming red.
Adelia's Point of ViewThe last thing I remembered was being hauled across Siya's shoulder. Being dragged into the middle of the fucking battlefield with zero care in the world. Then a lancing pain in my side, for the second time in the last two days, and everything went black.Until now. I could make out the whirr of an engine. People spoke in hushed tones. None of them close to me. None of them could be identified. My eyelids felt like a ton of bricks were lying on them. Body was stiff and refused to obey me."You need to take it easy. Your body isn't coping well with being shot twice." Someone said above me. My eyelids fluttered but they refused to lift."Water..." I barely stammered out. My throat felt like the desert. There was a shuffling beside me. Someone moving. The voices around me stopped the moment the person moved.Where was I? "Here. Drink." The voice commanded and I felt something touch my parched lips. A straw. I sucked it into my mouth and gulped the contents d
Adelia's Point of View“Get out, Nessa,” Siya growled again and the girl shrunk into herself. My eyes narrowed at him.“If she goes, then so do you,” I replied, keeping my chin high. There was a spark in his eyes. A little more light entered them. As if he was caught by surprise.“You don’t want to know why she is my sister?” He asked me pointedly.Nessa’s eyes hurried between the two of us. Scanned each of us with the same amount of apprehension. Like I was the same person as him. As if I could ever fucking be.Shrugging, I sat upright. Crossed my arms over my chest. “Well, I assume when a mommy wolf loves a daddy wolf very much-““Can we keep her?” Nessa asked, face breaking into a large smile.Siya sighed. Pinched the bridge of his nose. “Go find father. Or anyone else. I would like to talk to Adelia alone.” He urged. The girl stood her ground.“Like she said, if I go, so do you,” Nessa stated and smiled deviously at her brother.I liked her. She caught on fast. Despite her ramming
Adelia’s Point of View“You still haven’t eaten,” Siya said as he strolled into the room. His eyes roamed his surroundings. Looked everywhere but at me.Dinner had come and gone. My plate still sat untouched on the small table beside the door. Right where I had placed it before slamming the door shut in the servant’s face. Two could play his childish little games.“I’m not hungry.” I quipped and shoved away the drawing I had been working on.There was no use in inflating his ego more by letting him see the damned thing.Despite my best efforts, I couldn’t fully capture the intensity of his eyes. Not that I could fully comprehend them even in real life.“That was your excuse for lunch and two tea times as well. I have to send a new server every fucking time because apparently you make them all cry.”“They’re crying because they have to work for you.” I replied and decided to rather crumple up the page I had been drawing on.There was no use in trying to get it right. I wouldn’t be able
Adelia's Point of View“I never thought I would see the day the mighty Siya Mxolisi got blue balls. But here we are and I am so fucking amused.” Nessa chimed, her pace beside me rhythmic.I scowled at her but kept my pace light. Felt my blood course through my veins soothingly. “I’m surprised he actually thought I would sleep with him after he literally kidnapped me,” I replied, venom seeping from every word. Our little tryst in his room was nothing. Meant nothing. Not whilst I was his prisoner. And seeing as that last fact won’t change for a while, I refused to bend to his will.Nessa stiffened at the tone of my voice. Her pace faltered for a second before catching up again. “You don’t seem as angry as I imagined you’d be,” She stated.Across the courtyard, I could see Siya standing beside one of his other guards. His eyes never left my form. Even when he had stormed out of the room after my rejection last night. He still seemed intent on watching me.“There’s no time for anger. Not
Adelia's Point of ViewThe garden emptied on a phantom wind. Syphered away without so much as a word. And I was left to face an angry Siya on my own. How wonderful."What do you think you are doing?" He asked again, grinding his teeth in the process. My eyes snapped up at his. All of my emotions drained out of my features. But I couldn't forget the feel of him. How he held me up against that wall last night. The way he stormed off when I didn't give him exactly what he wanted."I just wanted to know the time. Is that a crime? If so, need I remind you of yours?" I threw back and aimed to leave. Slip right past him and go back to his room. The only place no one else would bother me.Deft fingers launched forward and gripped my upper arm.Cold eyes snapped towards his fingers on me. Disdain shifted my face. Lip curled upward. All a farce. Because just the feel of them caused immense pleasure. Pleasure I had no intention of following through on. But it was there and it was hard to ignore
Adelia's Point of ViewTossing in bed was my new hobby in life. Wondering where Siya was came in close at second place. My mind wandered to him, not my escape, more than I cared to admit. It was infuriating. Distracting. Especially when I knew that Phaedra would be here in the next 48 hours. Or less. The time frame for my escape was closing swiftly and here I was, awake in the middle of the night, pining after her most prized lap dog."This is insufferable," I groaned and turned onto my stomach. The cool sheets wrapped around my cheek. Broke some of the heat from my thoughts. "Tell me about it," A deep voice answered from the door. Flying up, I narrowed my eyes into the darkness. Waited a second for my vision to adjust. "What the fuck are you doing in here?" I asked, unable to stop my voice from wavering a bit.Siya was shirtless. Stood in the door like a pillar of beautiful ebony. His shoulder was pressed against the frame. Eyes keenly on me."Last I checked, this was my room." "
Adelia's Point of View"You look beautiful!" Nessa exclaimed and clapped her hands together in excitement.Eyeing myself in the large mirror, I cringed at how much I looked like my old self. "I look like a whore." I ground out and turned away from the image.Nessa's brows furrowed. Mouth opened slightly as she beheld me. "Well, a beautiful whore. Make all the boy whores go whaaa." I perked up an eyebrow at her. "What an odd fucking statement to make." She seemed offended for a second. Held her hand over her heart. "Don't tell me you never watched Princess Diaries. It was a cultural masterpiece," When I didn't respond, she sighed deeply. "Did you grow up beneath a rock or something? What's wrong with you?" I hadn't grown up under a rock. My father just never allowed me to watch TV. Wanted me to practice my piano and dance. How to become a perfect wife. Everything else took second place to him."Whatever. Let's just get going. I don't want to piss off your brother more than I alrea
Adelia's Point of View"The king will have our heads if one of your spies fucks this up, Harold! That's what I mean by that!" The old geezer's voice carried across the room with an echo. I glanced at a tense Siya by my side. Took in the way he held his head up by his chin. The bored expression on his face. But how utterly taut his body was.Although I found their arguments amusing and lapped up the fact that they were freely letting me in on all of this information, what I didn't like was the fact that we were two hours in and no closer to an end."Fuck the king! Let him find out! Phaedra has plans in place that will stop him from coming even close to us!" Another fool snarled. They were arrogant, then. An easy enemy to read and anticipate, seeing as they had no self-control when it came to their tempers. Their egos made their moves whilst rational thought failed them.Once upon a time, I had been much the same."When is this going to be done?" I asked loudly. Remained staring at my
Adelia's Point of ViewThey both cleaned up well. Looked dashing in their suits. But the scene in front of me was obscenely strange. Two fully grown men hiding behind a bush. One with an empty glass of some type of alcohol in hand. The other laughing maniacally into the dark If it hadn't been for me noticing their scents nearby, we wouldn't have found them at all. With their vantage, they could see the entire party perfectly. Still, they chose to hide away. Watched from the outside. And the moment they turned around to look at us, both of their jaws dropped to the floor.I knew Nessa had done a good job of styling me. Knew I looked better than I had ever done before. But their reactions were priceless. Worth every single burn Nessa had given me when she tried to curl my hair for the updo."Close your mouths, boys, it's fly season." Nessa joked from beside me. Chortled when all Michael could do was curse again, eyes digging up my flesh inch by inch. Siya wasn't far behind. Let his ey
Siya's Point of ViewI was a mated male. For one, I couldn't believe I wasn't dead yet. At the end of my twenties and I was still alive and well. Or as well as I could be, given that my body was a royal fuck up at the moment. But not dead. Not yet. And not anytime soon. Second, I was mated and in a new pack. Watched now as my old pack members streamed into a lush and vibrant garden made up for them and only them. To welcome them into a new and more stable home.If only the rest of my pack could have followed as well. Could have escaped the hell that was now Noha Khoeli. My mother would have been proud to see me now. Would have loved to know that her son was not only living but thriving. Saddened by the fact that her daughter had turned into such a cruel monster, yes, but glad to know her son had escaped that reality."Well, don't you clean up well," Michael crooned as he approached me from behind.I was standing in the shadows. Avoided anyone looking at me yet. Speaking to me. Mainly
Adelia's Point of View"Stop fussing! Everything has been sorted outside. It is two hours before the ceremony starts, we need to get ready!" I screeched at Nessa, hand clamped around her wrist and pulling her furiously into my walk-in closet. She was finding every reason in the book not to go inside and look at all of her options. From the decor to the food and everything in between. "Shit needs to be perfect and that fucking florist put one too many fucking roses in the centerpieces," She argued back whilst pulling away from me.A child with a new toy, that's what she was acting like right now."One too many roses isn't going to kill anyone, Nessa! But we can't be late for our own party," I hissed again and finally dragged her the rest of the way into the closet. The overhead lights flickered on the second they detected us. Flooded the small but packed space with light. And shimmers and sparkles from the clothes around us. This was where I kept most of my fancy clothes. The kind t
Adelia's Point of ViewI left Michael at the pack house with Aiden. Both men were walking around the place, making sure that every security measure under the sun was well in place. Nukes weren't the only threat we had to face. If Phaedra wanted to she could send an entire army to come and eviscerate us for what we had done to her pack. A tit for tat kind of thing. So the men peacocked around, trying to figure out every single weak point within the pack house grounds."I'm back," I called into the house and closed the door behind me.Groans sounded throughout the house, coming from upstairs. Groans. Moans. A few curses every once in a while. This was followed by a shrill voice that I couldn't make out the words from.Making my way up the stairs, I felt my teeth grind together as the groans intensified. Nessa was doing a number on her brother and showed zero remorse. When I walked in, she was straddling his ass, working her hands up and down the length of his spine. Siya's face was tw
Adelia's Point of ViewHis lips were as soft as I had remembered them. As intoxicating as well. But this time, his hands roamed my body freely. Hungrily. Claiming every inch as if he would never have the chance again. As if he needed to feel me to believe that we were doing this.Settling my own hands in his hair, I pulled his face away and smiled at him softly. Felt my heart still beating a mile a minute as he stared down at me. Blue eyes were half-lidded and twinkling when he looked down at me. Smiling like a damned fool.Ever so slowly he brushed a hand down the side of my face. Swept some of my baby hair back behind my ear. "You are so utterly beautiful that I might just die from looking at you too long." He whispered, breathing fanning my face in a minty puff. I rolled my eyes and shook his head for him. "That was maybe the cheesiest thing you have ever said to me," I bemoaned, unable to look even a tad bit disgusted by it.Because he could say those things to me my entire lif
Adelia's Point of ViewFor the first night where both of my mates were with me, we all collectively decided to sleep on our own. Not because I wouldn't have loved it to be the filling between both men but rather because neither of them felt very comfortable with that yet.Which was to be understood.I wouldn't know how to feel sleeping with my mate and his other mate. But Nessa's couches slept like utter shit! The girl had really said 'fashion and fuck the rest'. They were lovely to look at. Wonderful to curl up on. Horrendous for the back. So, when I finally woke up, I felt like an old woman climbing out of her coffin. My spine was shot to hell. Knees creaked from having had to curl them to my chest for the entire night. And if I felt this way, I didn't even want to know how Michael must have felt."We really should have brought another mattress," I groaned and stretched. Some of my limbs popped in their sockets, making me wince.Siya grumbled something into his pillow on the mattre
Adelia's Point of View"And you made sure to ask him that everything was disabled? Thrown away? Burned?" Nessa screeched, hands on her hips as she paced the length of the living room.Every time she passed Aiden, he reached for her but she was having none of it. Dodged his efforts every single time with a dip of her shoulder. Or a sneer when he got too close to calming her down."Ozias asked Dargan to check everything. He even sent over a plan of the house and where Ciaran placed everything," Michael explained and let his eyes dance over to mine. "He also apologized profusely for what his Alpha has done." "In what regard? Because everything he has done has been more than fucked up from what I hear." Nessa seethed again.Aiden made a last lunge towards her and when she dodged out of his way, he threw his hands up in exasperation. Looked done with trying. Hell, with living at this point. It was funny to witness them together.Him, the pragmatic planner who thought shit through. Her, wh
Michael's Point of ViewShe was fine. More than fine, actually, from the looks of things. Adelia was joking and laughing. Kidding around with Siya and his lack of cooking skills. Made fun of the fact that a carrot nearly took him out. And her with him, if she hadn't stopped healing him when she had. But she was bubbly and happy. Looked relaxed, even when I tried to tickle her feet. Or got her to snort coffee through her nose by accident. This felt comfortable. Easy. Like this was the place I had always been destined to find. A home I always needed to occupy.Logically she had tried several times to get back to planning. Or tried to sneak away with her phone, just to make a few calls, she had assured us. Neither of us let her, on orders of the Beta of the pack.Your first healing was as taxing on the body as your first shift. Something I had to keep in mind once I won her over and got her to turn me. The process and changes of it all were grueling enough that even Alpha pups were
Adelia's Point of ViewI was helped down the stairs. Helped, like a damned invalid. All because my body had decided healing a gash on an arm was one too much.Sure, give it a kidnapping. Nearly being killed. Being held captive by your deranged mother. Escaping said Mother. Organizing one large ass ceremony. And everything in between. But goddess forbid I tried healing someone. That was just fucking unacceptable. At first, both had offered to help me down. Neither wanted the other to help. A few glares had been exchanfged. Maybe a profanity or two, said through their eyes and luckily not their mouths.By the time they were done with their pissing contest, I was already at the door, tired of their bullshit. Scolded them for handling me like I was broken and not just tired. That had been the final straw for them to back off. Michael had been the winner in the end, to my utter dismay. His hand around my waist and my arm around his shoulders caused us to touch all up my side. Forced so m
